Am I the only one who thinks there are no significant differences between, well, ARHD, InsertCoin, One X Maximus or any JB Sense ROM? I tried almost everyone of them, but didn't see any great differences. Battery life differed a little (not more than an hour) but all in all...the ROM's are very similar to each other. Maybe my eyes are overlooking something

I feel the same. Although ordroid is a little bit better in battery for me. But it can be placebo, too...
As far as final ruu will be released, and the kernel source will be posted, the real differences will show up

i think is about battery life, radio sign and thame
With the exception of Renovate and Orio, all of those ROMs are trying to deliver a better stock experience, which means the difference isn't gonna be huge. I recall that my favorite was maXimus because it felt faster than all the other ROMs, no misbehaving whatsoever and it had a great pick of included apps. OrDroid came a second close (it had amazing battery life). There isn't any visible changes but its noticeable with daily usage I guess.

Spot on
Even if guys from venom team will manage to do that brilliant work, j4n did with ics, it won't be so blowing away experience like last ics Rom until kernel source will be given by HTC.
ViperX is pretty much best sense Rom ever on HTC One X, with venom tweaks (how crazy cpu control is....), modding ability, speed and, the last, but not the least, best batter life... That's why it was awarded to be placed in original develoebt forum.
So, as far as it will be released (and if it will be at least 70% of original), we'll have a King.
For now they are all like tween brothers.

Untill the finished (final final final release from htc) no one will put too much effort into the roms atm. Once we all have the jb hboot and there`s a released ruu with no bugs theyll all tap away and do their thing. The most youll get at the mo other than a couple (ren, orio etc) is a custom boot ani and init.d support. Theres no real difference.
Be patient and theyll do good things when the time comes, we have some great devs/teams.

Hello,
Just pre ordered today! Are you going to run a ROM? If so which ROM suits best for this device. Just curious.
none of them, because you have to read the instructions and the rest of the posts in each thread to be sure you want to install it. =]
definitely stay on HTC factory, but check for updates in the settings.

Why don't you stay with the stock ROM and just root it?I have a stock 1.28 on it and root and that is more than enough for me.If you want a custom ROM i recommend the ARHD (Android Revolution HD).

I believe that using the standard ROM is the way to go, just unlock the bootloader and root your phone and that is all that is needed really. I used to change the Rom on my HD2 all the time and also ran ICS but this phone runs smoother on the stock rom.
leedroid
Leedroid v.4.0 awesome!
Thanks for the feedback!

No one is getting 6 hours of on screen time with this phone, I don't think. I see some people get 4 or so, but they can't be doing much with the phones then. Also, that's probably with real low brightness.
what are the chances of it getting bricked?
Yea the one best for me won't be the best for u..
I tried insertcoin, leedroid, JDroid, but didn't convince me..
Right now I'm on VillainRom and to me it's the best..
Keep tryin and eventually u'l find out what works for u..

Won't we get more on screen time on custom Rom as most of the software were tweaked and removed for better performance which will eventually increase battery life.

All the time:
1. Terrible battery life.
2. No camera button.
3. No replaceable battery /sd card.
4. HTC Sense is painfully slow and battery draining.
5. No USB Otg support.
6. Severe overheating.
8. Insane camera compression makes pictures unusable.
9. Insane video compression.
10. No multitasking.
11. 3 dot menu is stupid as hell.
12. Only capacitive android buttons.
13. The phone is very slippery.
14. HTC is far too obsessed with the phone being thin and as such compromises on several things.
That's all I could think of right now. Please note that some of these things can be fixed by rooting.

Overall its a good phone but:
A lot of people are facing hardware defects (this is just based on me seeing posts on the forums like the 200 page wifi issue thread, it could be a lot less)
It lags a lot when compared to my 2 year old galaxy s e.g. in the browser.
You have to unlock and root if you want to see its full potential.
It gets hot.
The screen is not very scratch resistant.
The speaker is poor.
The good points are:
Sense is nice to look at.
The screen is good.
Tegra optimised games are awesome.
A lot of internal storage.
I like the way beats audio sounds (ymmv).
The battery life is okay.
It feels good in hand.
It has a great camera.
Mate if your ready to unlock the device then you won't be disappointed simple as that.
No. I'm not disappointed.
HTC One X running Viper ROM and Faux kernel....

happy for now.. very happy indeed...going to see what the new nexus will be like and what specs that phone will have before i make the jump again...if it is nothing special will stick with my One X as i love it
Both happy and disappointed are relative terms. The follow on question naturally becomes "compared to what?" The phone's got flaws; some people above already pointed them out. But so does the SGS3 now that it's been out for a while. So you add up the good and bad for both the One X and SGS3 (they're natural competitors) and compare them against how you intend to use the phone. The One X is an instant fail for anyone looking for removable storage and/or a replaceable battery. In fact, someone that's not OK with that shouldn’t even be asking about buying a One X. As for the screen scratching, it appears GG2 is more susceptible to fine scratches than GG1 so both phones are affected equally. As for the 200+ page Wi-Fi thread, 100 pages are the same handful of people commenting on each other’s posts. The OP alone has racked up nearly 500 posts just in that thread. It's sort of become the village of the damned where everyone goes to complain about HTC, the One X, and HTC service and support. They asked me to leave because I was interjecting optimism.
Did some research and played with it before deciding which quadcore phone to buy and disappointed that it cannot change battery and does not have a sd card slot so finally bought the LG.
Never disappointed... with ARHD and faux kernel is all perfect. Battery life is excellent and everything is fast.
Now I'm trying the p6 release of the CM10. I have to say that JB si amazing.

Seriously, we need a port for Sense 4.1. It's already out for HTC One X and with the improved battery life it offers, I would really like to try it. Despite what others have said the battery life I'm getting out of CM10 and CM9 is trash compared to the stock. I know Sense is bloated and a lil laggy but it does a way better job of maintaining battery while idle by turning off radios and sync. I could leave my phone for the entire night while sleeping and it MIGHT drain 1-2%. CM10 drains my battery by 20% in like 2-3 hours on standby. In the battery stats on stock the "awake" bar wouldn't be there when the phone is idle. With CM10, the "awake" bar under battery stats is sporadically there all the time, even when the phone is idle the entire time. Can some dev please help us out? Where is jmz when you need him...

sense port as you said for one x.. what a big joke. htc one x has full sense from stock, not a port. cm10 (build 89) has issues with deep sleep so that's why you loose a lot of battery even when the phone is idle. i suggest using the nightly build of cm10 because the issue is gone in that and the battery will be increased 100% more. if you do want sense and you don't like the freedom of cm9 and cm10 that has to offer, i suggest two things: go back to stock and run a crappy software that lags every time or flash the [ROM-PrimoU|GSM] [01-September] myONEv RC5.0 FX from the development section + a good kernel that gives you the possibility to overclock your cpu like Titanium Kernel build 5.

Sorry I should have specified this in my first post. I have a Virgin Mobile USA PrimoC (CDMA) phone. I understand HTC One X's sense 4.1 isn't a port. I'm saying we could use someone porting 4.1 FROM the One X for our phone. jmz did that with his JmzOneV4 ROM with full sense 4 from the One X. I know that there are some really good ROMs/kernels out there for PrimoU phones but for PimoC's all we've got is simonssimons' kernel and although its amazing, for some reason my phone stays in the "awake" state ALL THE TIME. I just reverted to stock this weekend and I'm finally seeing my battery life back to where I liked it. I'm not a dev so I can't say for sure but with CM 10 ROM with JellyBoot4.img kernel and with CM9 with sickkernelv0.6 my phone's battery stats showed that the phone was in the "awake" state pretty much all the time and I barely got up to 10 full hours on my battery.
I don't really want sense but I like how it allocates resources and turns off radios when not needed in order to save battery. I can get almost 2 days with stock. I haven't seen this with any of the custom kernels that have been released since PrimoC's kernel source was released.
What I want is CM10, but with the battery life I've heard so many people boasting about. I have not experienced good battery life with any version of CM or with any custom kernels I've tried so far and for now I'm stuck with sense.
Also I've not heard of any PrimoC'ers with such good battery life as PrimoU'ers have claimed.

That would be amazing! If you can, try to talk to JMZ, like I said I think he ported full sense 4 from the OneX for the OneV on his JmzOneV4 rom. There were some issues there with screen size and display, especialy when using the full sense 4 lock screens, and some other things (like the clock app) but it still worked really well. Like cpie said, the desire x's sense 4.1 might work better with the screen size.
I use paranoid Android and the battery life is incredible. Don't Miss out on custom roms like cm 9, 10, myonev, paranoid. That's the best thing that could happen to your phone.
And for sure your requirements will be met anytime soon. Just give it some time. The devs for must be working on that.

Lately I've been having a tell of a time... probably from the unstable CM10 JB ROMS I've been trying?
How about you?
What stability problems, and what ROM/class?
My answer:
With these CM10 ROMs (CM10 nightly, Demination, etc.) I've been having random reboots all the time - and sometimes the phone is just slow as all getout... checking the SD card forever... in some cases just using the keyboard has unprecedented lag.
Change a Rom
Hy there everyone,
I've been using my (second) HOX for about a month now... still on stock, still, and I don't know why but some days it just reboots itself even multiple times for no reason and others it's like a dream.
Anyone else having this "issue".
Rgds.

Ah... but which?
Hence the thread.
Haven't had any stability problems, ever. Used nearly every single ROM on XDA and they're all stable to me... (some of the CM10 nightlies weren't)
btw, IceColdJelly is amazing (Y)
My one x has been fine for me.

you dont need to open a thread for that , download all the rom and try them one by one and see what works for you
Damn stable with jb sense

I just went to a MIUI sense ROM and wow, what an amazing experience. Massive customisations available, the theme engine is incredible, you get the Sense camera back (and boy is it good after months on CM10), plus battery life is good. So far as stable as a rock too.
I've been running the latest nightlies (flashing every day) and havent had a single issue.
I'd suggest doing a full wipe and starting over.

Surely.
But then, I could also just make my own ROM to suit my needs. The Google Developer docs should give me everything I need, no?
Who needs forums anyways?
BTW:
What ROM are you using? Is it stable? Which ones have you tried? How did they go?
How long does it take you to try all the latest versions of all 50 some One X Roms each month?
Stable like a rock with official sense based ROMs
it requires heavy OC to even make it reboot
any insatiability is the ROM to blame
Perfectly stable running the latest CM10 nightly with NCX kernel
Mine is pretty stable when face down, but on its back it rocks a bit.
Rock solid with stock rom
few bugs, not critical and already tossed to HTC CSR (PlayBook missing icon, WiFi problem across WDS network/repeaters, People link broken if provider like FB, LinkedIn, Skype or Twitter aren't accessible while device attempt to sync)
Never rebooted neither turned off-on, always active and connected to 3G of WiFi if indoor, massive email traffic and all Google services active (calendar, GDrive, Latitude, etc.)
As stable as a mountain with CM10 nightly & Bricked kernel.

Rebooted probably twice or thrice in 5 months.
Stock. Unrooted. Locked.
Locked, unrooted, completely stock never rebooted since April. Comparing to my HTC Desire it is as stable as the most stable thing in the world

You've got bored with android after using ios for long time? Wow....take a look at play store, unlike ios, you can customize android heavily without rooting.
@all,
All stability issues are gone since updates in June and August, so every issue you have is connected to a) Rom you've flashed, b) f!cked up app, you've installed from play store, c) your hands or your basic android knowledge (sorry to say this, but it's true).
So, the thread should be closed and marked as solved.
