How unstable is your One X?
Lately I've been having a tell of a time... probably from the unstable CM10 JB ROMS I've been trying?
How about you?
What stability problems, and what ROM/class?
My answer:
With these CM10 ROMs (CM10 nightly, Demination, etc.) I've been having random reboots all the time - and sometimes the phone is just slow as all getout... checking the SD card forever... in some cases just using the keyboard has unprecedented lag.
Change a Rom
Hy there everyone,
I've been using my (second) HOX for about a month now... still on stock, still, and I don't know why but some days it just reboots itself even multiple times for no reason and others it's like a dream.
Anyone else having this "issue".
Rgds.

Hence the thread.
Haven't had any stability problems, ever. Used nearly every single ROM on XDA and they're all stable to me... (some of the CM10 nightlies weren't)
btw, IceColdJelly is amazing (Y)

Damn stable with jb sense

I just went to a MIUI sense ROM and wow, what an amazing experience. Massive customisations available, the theme engine is incredible, you get the Sense camera back (and boy is it good after months on CM10), plus battery life is good. So far as stable as a rock too.
I've been running the latest nightlies (flashing every day) and havent had a single issue.
I'd suggest doing a full wipe and starting over.

Surely.
But then, I could also just make my own ROM to suit my needs. The Google Developer docs should give me everything I need, no?
Who needs forums anyways?
BTW:
What ROM are you using? Is it stable? Which ones have you tried? How did they go?
How long does it take you to try all the latest versions of all 50 some One X Roms each month?
Stable like a rock with official sense based ROMs
it requires heavy OC to even make it reboot
any insatiability is the ROM to blame
Perfectly stable running the latest CM10 nightly with NCX kernel
Mine is pretty stable when face down, but on its back it rocks a bit.
Rock solid with stock rom
few bugs, not critical and already tossed to HTC CSR (PlayBook missing icon, WiFi problem across WDS network/repeaters, People link broken if provider like FB, LinkedIn, Skype or Twitter aren't accessible while device attempt to sync)
Never rebooted neither turned off-on, always active and connected to 3G of WiFi if indoor, massive email traffic and all Google services active (calendar, GDrive, Latitude, etc.)
As stable as a mountain with CM10 nightly & Bricked kernel.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Rebooted probably twice or thrice in 5 months.
Stock. Unrooted. Locked.
Locked, unrooted, completely stock never rebooted since April. Comparing to my HTC Desire it is as stable as the most stable thing in the world

You've got bored with android after using ios for long time? Wow....take a look at play store, unlike ios, you can customize android heavily without rooting.
@all,
All stability issues are gone since updates in June and August, so every issue you have is connected to a) Rom you've flashed, b) f!cked up app, you've installed from play store, c) your hands or your basic android knowledge (sorry to say this, but it's true).
So, the thread should be closed and marked as solved.

Should I install cyanogenmod 7 on my HTC Wildfire.
Is it safe?,what will i get whit THAT?,will I be able to do things that I can do now?,which will be the consequences....
I was asking myself that questions for a weeks and I still don't know.
I have heard that there were some a problems after installing cyanogenmod 7 ,like problems with market,freezing,bricking....
.
ps.sorry about my grammar
- Take a Nandroid Backup (VERY important)
- Install CM7
- Test it, Look around
- If you like it, keep it
- If you don't, do a Nandroid Restore. Back to square one with no losses.
It is different from a normal Stock Sense ROM. Feature lists can be found here:
http://www.cyanogenmod.com/about
http://www.cyanogenmod.com/about/features
While I cannot guarantee you will not experience bugs, the question of bricks doesn't arise (Unless you do something absurdly stupid).
How can I unistall it. Is there some tutorial or something.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
Just go into Recovery and restore the previous made Backup.
But how to make backup
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
You should honestly read and learn more about these processes before trying to install ROMs. Lack of basic knowledge is the main reason of bricking devices. Then when your device turns into a paperweight, you will only have yourself to blame.

CM 7.1.0.1 is the latest stable version with no bugs. The Nightlies are development builds which are released daily. They include the latest features but are not stable and will contain bugs. Since this is your first attempt at this, I would recommend using the stable build.
Make sure you read the first 2 posts in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1029318
Don't attempt to root and flash a custom ROM to your phone before you understand exactly what you are doing. If you do understand, then the process is easy and you won't brick your phone.
Edit: Apparently the latest nightly is bug free so ignore me and use that if you want.
Although I agree with what you're saying about fully understanding what you're doing before rooting etc and partly agree with flashing the stable version first I don't agree with this part.

In the beginning I guess that may have been true but nowadays I believe the cm team has gotten it down to a fine art.
I've been using nightlies since about build #80 I have only ever noticed 1 bug other than the ones i created myself, and I only spotted that because Arco mentioned it, he changed something and broke the camera which was fixed the next day.
The nightlies have stopped for the moment and the last one #256 is perfectly stable and bug free, also the one i use, 7.2 rc0 that erwinp compiled is also stable and bug free, plus the extra features make it worthwhile ditching the stable and upgrading.

I'm looking at doing this to my missus wildfire. Will she notice a performance boost? She spends hours on angry birds... Because it's so slow! I wondered if anyone noticed if the phones speed was improved with cm7 or any other ROM or will it need overclocking?
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using Tapatalk
Angry birds runs for me on overclocked cm7 without any lag at all. If you do decide to root and install cm7 the built in kernel allows for overclocking up to 768mhz anyway.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using xda premium
Thats sounds like it's the one I want then. Does it look like the standard operating system and does it have all the same apps etc? I'd preffer it to not look any differant if possible so she doesn't have the oportunity to moan at me
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using Tapatalk
Sorry mate cm7 is based on gingerbread and comes with adw launcher, the stock Rom is completely different as it comes with HTC sense preinstalled on top of the android OS which contains all the HTC apps she's used to seeing, there are a couple of custom roms based on stock which do have all the apps. Only problem you might face is that sense is more resource hungry than cm7. I'm currently on one now, dk custom so I'll just install angry birds now and see how it goes.
Edit: I've just done the first 7 levels of angry birds lag free on dk custom Rom so it should be fine for her.
This thread is full of information about rooting,s-offing and installing clockworkmod recovery so you can flash a custom Rom etc

Most of the roms seem to have retained Sense 4. And the Sense roms seem to be updated more frequently.
I like the new Sense but want to try something different. I'm coming from Android Revolution which I like very much.
Want a ROM with lots of improvements to optimize performance, smoothness and speed, based on the latest ICS version, with bone-stock APKs and no bloatware.
Suggestions? What are my best couple options even....?
I'd recommend LeDrOiD and Android Revolution HD, both are updated frequently. But since HTC have not released any new software lately, there isn't much for the developers to do.
Both ROM can have Sense removed, LeDrOiD is easier in this regard.
It seems kernel is currently the hot development area.
Edit, posted irreverent info.
Thanks! I was asking about ROMS not Launchers though.
Ideally I would like a sense-less ROM that came with the stock ICS launcher (even over Apex or Nova).

try JDROID rom then or check the rom thread and see if they give the sense-less option in aroma installer..most roms now do that anyway. or just use rom-cleaner no-sense version and it does the business for you anyway

I've had a quick look at what's on offer here in the forums but unfortunately don't have time to read through all the replies to figure out just how stable the ROMs may be.
It would be extremely helpful if someone could recommend a ROM based on this information and maybe give me a brief outline of any bugs. Any information at all is helpful - it's a bit overwhelming coming to a new device as I'm sure many of you have experienced before.

I think best camera is in Tbaldens JB/CM10 ROM( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1786696 )...
But its still poor compared to the Sense camera...And if you used Onexed camera mod it is day and night difference, sadly but true.:/
I tryed al rooms and I can say renovate room 5.2.0 is the best, has the most feature included (camera mode, sound mode etc.) Also a excellent battery life combined with the faux kernal , after 2 hours and a half on standby ( checked 3-4 times the clock ) I still had 100% battery .and you can install without sense if you want .

I purchased one v last summer and my experience with the phone has been mostly frustration and grief. The original Sense ROM is sluggish and buggy, so I got rid of it as soon as I had rooted the phone. In fact I found it slower than my old Nexus One coupled with MIUI. It is shocking that two years old phone overperforms a relatively recent although budget handset .Anyhow, since rooting I've tried a bunch of different roms, but none of them are satisfactory. Sluggishness, showstopper bugs or ugly user interface. At this point I got tired of trying out different ROMs and reconfiguring the phone from scratch. I just want something that would work well enough.
I like MIUI a lot, but all the recent builds have been plagued by various bugs. As if each new build fixes some of the problems, while introducing a handful of new bugs. I am sure it will become better at some point, but I would like to have something decent now.
So my question goes, what ROM/Kernel combo do you find the most usable? Something that would just work and would not need to reinstall/tweak every week or so.

Believe me I try all and kernel Kiss thx to maxwen with myONEv RC0.5 FX ROM thx to ckpv5 running smooth and fast with no battery drain!!!
If you wanna have smooth camera or video recording features, stable, no-bugs & still can run faster, you can go for myONEv RC5.0 FX from ckpv5. But if you don't really need camera & video recording for your daily activity, then you can go for CM10 from Lloir.
And last but not least, you can also flash latest Titanium-KISS kernel from maxwen. :good:

Hello,
i have been using htc one v now but i am bored with it and plus it has become extremely slow, though i deleted lots of data and extra apps. still it is very laggy and takes a century to start any app. i was lately thinking to change to a custom rom, but ever since that thought occurred to me, i've been in the dilemma if choosing the right one. i searched the forums but couldnt satisfy myself. i want a rom that will be based on jelly bean and at the same time running full htc sense. how will i make it possible? may be someone over here could help me with that. i have least knowledge of roms and related stuff.

Like the above post, full sense is not yet available on current ROMs. And, I'm not sure that it will be considering most people install custom roms to get away from sense (like me).
If you want a custom rom still, I recommend the AOKP rom, with the CDMA version that I'm using, it's really stable and pretty fast and everything seems to work, even bluetooth. Still some graphics glitches, but those will get worked out.
I would recommend maxwen & Lloir's CM 10 ROM, it is smooth and dinamic. Before that Íve got the same issues as you.
