Hi all
I bought a N7105 (Note 2 LTE) from phones4u yesterday. When I got home, I immediately tried my O2 and 3UK sim cards and they never worked, when I strat the phone there was a pop up asking to imput network security key. The only sim card that worked was my Tmobile sim card.
This morning when I got home from work, I was reading this forum and found out about pressing the following keys *#197328640#
Out of interest, I just selected each option to see what is in there..... I don't know (can't remember) which option I pressed but when I rebooted and tried my O2 ans 3UK sim cards, they now work. The pop-up asking about network security was gone, and I can make phone calls and connect to the internet with the previously barred sim cards. BUT --- there is the word BUT, when I make a phone call, there is a message that says ""Conditional call forwarding active" . That just stays for a few seconds and it goes away.
In the Menu after pressing the keys I mentioned above, I remember there was a setting for Network Lock:
Main Menu > [1] UMTS > [1] Debug Screen > [8] Phone Control > [6] Network Lock > Options [1]Perso SHA256 Info, [2]Perso SHA256 ON [3]Perso SHA256 OFF [4] NW Lock NV Data INITIALLIZ
======================
also in
Main Menu > [4] SIM > I remember clicking the options [4] Deactivate FTM, and [5] Disable ENS
======================
I really am not sure which ones have unlocked the phone, but it is unlocked now.....
Anyone can explain this ?????
Doesn't sound like it's done it properly if you get that message when making a call!

That just tells you even yiu have call forwarding set up on your current sim and number that you are using. Under condition could mean several things I.e when phone is engaged with someone else or off etc etc.

You can try to manually select LTE only.
Dial *#197328640#
Then Option 1 UMTS > Option 1 Debug Screen > Option 8 Phone Control > Option 7 Network Control > Option 2 Band Selection > Option 4 LTE Band Preference > Option 5 LTE ALL
Good luck
Hi:
I live in Bangladesh, South Asia. I have a Xperia Play sent from USA (R800AT) which is both root and sim unlocked. When I entered a sim of a Bangladeshi network, the network bar shows the carrier name for a while and went to "temporary calls only" after a few seconds. Then I tried to connect to the carrier by selecting the network from a list of mobile carrier, it replied "You sim does not allow a connection to this network". I replaced the sim with another few sims and it resulted the same. However, these sims are working well in other devices. I also tried to connect to internet by putting the APN details but could not establish a connection.
I tried to connect to internet through WiFi, I was able to get connected with WiFis but failed to connect to internet. All the apps (youtube, maps, browser etc.) replied "This application requires a valid data connection".
Could someone please help me in this? Many thanks in advance.

The R800at is carrier locked. You need to unlock it which requires you to pay someone to unlock it for you. Basically with carrier locked device such as R800at will only with at&t in the USA.
Thanks for your prompt reply. I didn't get one thing how is carrier lock different from network/sim lock? In the sim lock menu of the service infor main menu, it says as follows:
[] Network 5
[] Network subset 5
[] Service provider 5
[] Corporate 5
[] Sim 0
So far I have understood from what I read over internet that a blank parentheses [] shows that it's unlocked and [x] means locked.
I would appreciate your comments on this. Thanks in advance for educating me on this.

Im sorry what i meant for carrier locked is the same as sim locked.
Phone is an S3 for T mobile running 4.1.1
I've been in phone unlocking hell for 4 days.
Closely followed the "free" unlocking in debug mode method-trouble was phone will auto lock back after a couple hours or calls.
Tried turning the flag on and off, factory reset, all kinds of stuff and still no luck.
I broke down and bought an unlock code but can't get my phone to prompt for it.
I can't seem to undo the service mode change or find a way to enter the unlock code.
The phoen will not prompt me for an unlock code no matter which way I try to reset it.
Have you tried to odin to latest jb stock ?

Are you inserting a non T-Mobile sim card into your phone? ( I am assuming that your cell phone is the t-999) That is the only way your phone will ask for the unlock code.

yes, inserting non t mobile sim- it doens't prompt for unlock code
If I root and flash a different rom does does it bypass all hte lock/unlock BS or am I still going to have to figure out how to get that code entered
Also tried reinstalling drivers from kias- just rooted phone-it wouldn't be much trouble to install a different rom if that is the fix.
also I bought an unlock code but don't see a place to enter it in
Not 100% sure but I was under the impression the simlock feature was null on sgs3. I have no issues with mine using straight talk wireless full unlimited ($45 per mth). Aside from that, if you can give me some info on what you have done I might be able to help more. There are a few settings that need to be changed as well as phone based service menu changes.

ok
Inserted foreign (non t mobile sim)
Got a prompt for an unlock code, which I didn't have.
Used Google, found a way that looked promising by going in the service menu.
*#197328640#
Main Menu
[1] UMTS
[1] Debug Screen
[8] Phone Control
[6] Network Lock
Options [3]Perso SHA256 OFF
(after choosing this option, wait about 30 seconds, then go back one step by pressing the Menu button then select Back, now you are in
[6] Network Lock then choose
[4] NW Lock NV Data INITIALLIZ ..... wait for a minute then reboot your phone
Ok did that then phone worked. Kinda. It works for about an hour or a couple of phone calls, then the phone says "searching" and I don't have any network connection.
Also tryied turning the SHA256 back on, back off, intializing, every combination you can imagine, same result, phone doesn't work.
Bought an unlock code but can't get the pop up to come on to ask for it so I guess it is worthless.
Tried reinstalling firmwire via Kias. Same thing.
Rooted phone thinking that might be the answer. Worked for a day then same thing.
Spent countless hours on google and these forums trying to figure out a way to fix it.

never mind got booted off again...

internet was off
this thing is crazy
It will work just fine then all of the sudden nothing-move sim over to my flip phone and it works fine.
It's like the phone is shutting itself down.
Have you changed your service address? Sounds like your sgs3 isn't finding the correct path to your new network. ....
In your Phone: Go to settings<more settings<mobile networks- then touch the option network operators to scan the available networks in your area, wait for some moment, let your phone scan, a list of available networks in your area will appear then, select the network name of your service provider to register it and you are done. You can restart fore more efficient use then.
This is from another site, I have cm nightly so my options are a lil different now. That being said after manually selecting my network with stock rom, setting my APN/WAP had no issues. With the cm nightly I didn't have to change anything. I'm thinking one of the os updates might have made it hard to access or change this option. Will try to grab a dev friend to look into this for ya.

My service provider is Cellular One.
I have three options
Select automaticly
Default setup
Search now
Selected search now
It has two
T-Mobile
311040
I selected 311040 and nothing....still got the "searching".
then selected "T-Mobile" and my phone connected to "cellular one".
please please please let this thing be fixed!
Ok we are getting somewhere.
Last night after I "registered" to T-mobile the phone did fine.
Today I stopped in at Cell one on the way home and told them I thought it was fixed and what I did.
She said that isn't good because I will get booted off when my bill comes because 50% of my useage has to be on cell one network.
So she scanned there at their store and set it to cell one.
I get back home and I'm booted off again. I tried to put it back on T mobile and I get an error now that says my Sim does not allow to register on this network.
Is there anyway to get ALL of T-Mobiles stuff off of this phone?
Would flashing a ROM do that?
How to unlock AT&T Samsung Galaxy S3
Following Guide is only for AT&T Samsung Galaxy S3If you bought the Samsung Galaxy S3 from AT&T for example then at the moment you will only be able to use the device with AT&T. However you could unlock it and then you are free to use it on any carrier. You could even choose to mail the device to a friend or relative overseas, so that they can use it with any carrier. So here is how you would unlock your deviceut the SIM card from a different carrier into the deviceTurn the handset off and back on again while the SIM is still inGo to the dial pad on the device and then put in *#197328640#Head to the main menu and [1] UMTS > [1] Debug Screen > [8] Phone Control > [6] Network Lock > Options [3]Perso SHA256 OFF > and then wait for around 30 second**** the Menu and choose Back and you should be at the Network Lock. You then have to choose [4] NW Lock NV Data INITIALLIZThese are the 5 simple steps that are needed. However just to make sure that there is no mistake, the sequence that you need to type in the 3rd step is “Asterisk Pound One Nine Seven Three Two Eight Six Four Zero Pound.” Some people have called the asterisk the star button and some say that the pound button is the hash key, so bear this in mind.Once you have undertaken the steps above you then should have an unlocked Samsung Galaxy S3 that allows you to use any SIM card with any carrier, anywhere in the world. This code has been one that Samsung have used for quite some time, so it could work with other Galaxy handsets too.

There are already a couple threads about this. Ex.= http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2176719
Thank you for helping out and putting info up though! :good:
This may work on other devices and carriers having this same issue. And know were your phone was made to help others. Look under your battery to find were it was made
I started this thread cause over the past 2 years their has been speculation that it's the sgh-i317 made in Korea that's not getting LTE out of the box. I tried everything. Changing my imei, nv items, roms, modems, etc...
Turns out that I successfully was able to get LTE a 1 1/2 - 2 years ago but really didn't know exactly how I did it. I was helping @Trash213 and rediscovered what I had done. Turns out It's a provisioning error that happens when the sim is placed in that phone for the first time and messes up that line forever. Asking T-Mobile to refresh the provisions does not help but they may give you a free sim.
DO NOT PUT THE SIM CARD IN YOUR PHONE FIRST
The Sim card must first be installed into another
T-Mobile LTE device or registered on one
First thing you need to do, is put your note 2 in LTE all by dialing *#2263# and selecting lte band prefrance then selecting lte all.
Get a new T-Mobile Sim Card.
Or put your Sim card in another t mobile lte device and dial *#2263# select lte band preference and then select lte all. Hit home button got to settings more networks change default operater to manual. Then select t mobile to register it. Don't forget to change the band prefrance back to automatic. It's the first choice in *#2263# menu. If you are successful at fixing your Sim card you may skip the next step.
Once the T-Mobile phone boots go to
settings, about, status.
When you see your phone number ( you may have to reboot or make a phone call ) you can then power off the device and remove the sim card.
Put the sim card in the Korean made sgh-i317 and if you are in a strong LTE area it should come up first next to your signal bars.
If still no lte then hit home button go to settings more networks change default operater to manual. Then select t mobile to register it.
Check that you are getting LTE either by looking at the signal bars or by going to settings, about, status.
Once you see that you are getting LTE go back to phone dialer and type *#2263# and select automatic.
For more information on this service mode code see
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=47934927&postcount=7609&nocache=1&z=5848805580753833
Hope this helps all those phones that couldn't get lte out of the box.
Lookin good, lookin good. Thanks for this, for those that are having this issue. Really made things quite simple.

While this may be great information, this is certainly not development since you didn't "make this" - moved to general where it belonged in the first place. @billb23ok - Take this as your warning - Please do not create threads in development sections without knowing if it's appropriate. Thanks.

Is your note 2 made in china. Check under your battery.
This is for the note 2 i317 made in Korea that are having trouble connecting LTE at all with any rom or phone the sim is put into
I'm going to try this later on today. I'll get back to you with the results. There's a new T-Mobile store down the Street from where I live.
Thanks for the hint, and I tried that. However, when I select "LTE ALL", my phone shows "Unknown" under "Mobile Network Type" of the Device Status.
T Mobile just upgrades their LTE my area, and currently the 4G/LTE is very strong in my T Mobile S5 phone.
AT&T unlocked my SGH-i317 Note II last year after my contract ended. Therefore, I want to use with TMobile, but I can only connect up to 4G.
Do I need to upgrade its APN for the radio in order to receive LTE in my area? Thanks in advanced.

if you want to go back to at&t then restore the nv backup you made to restore you original imei. So don't delete it you may need that back up some day down the line.

I don't understand this part when I select 2 to erase the EFS the backup gets deleted too so option 4: Restore is not available so skipping that part I just restored the backup I did with the program which doesn't make the phone reboot so I did it manually and at this point I'm left back at the start as I just made a circle. Restoring the provided file and rebooting phone leaves me with an unknown IMEI. #06# displays " / 11" and a signal of UMTS still. At this point going into the service menu and selecting LTE ALL disables my data and puts me on an Unknown network that I cannot do anything on, when I manually search for a network I get T-Mobile; 311660; AT&T; Verizon and selecting T-Mobile just says Unable to connect. Try later. Switching the band selection back to automatic phones goes back onto UMTS like I did nothing (other than make my IMEI null)

The sim card has already told t Mobile it's a 4G only device. Which is why I started this thread. But I was able to fix the problem with the sim card by putting in another tmobile lte device then back to mine. Instead of replacing it. Try this and let me know how it goes .
I have the note 4 now and my wife kept the note 2 i317.
that phone I have at imei 0/ unknown and 4..4.2 Modem and
conch rebublic 4.3 and the sim would switch to 4G with the original imei. And when ever I put it in someone's phone it would only get 4g. So I registered it on another tmobile lte device and put the sim back in my phone registered it and lte worked.
I was able to fix sim with above steps.
