N7105 does not have nv_data.bin
Please forgive me if I am mistaken…
I noticed that the N7105 does not have nv_data.bin (I think Samsung LTE devices don’t have this).I’m not certain that a traditional efs backup will be enough to ensure the safety of your IMEI when flashing.
To be on the safe side in addition to the traditional efs backup I also followed the steps in the following post to create an IMEI backup using QPST:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1946915
thx , can we then flashe the other roms in 7100 and restore the back up from 7105 ? does it work that why or no?

Thanks for your remind, this is very important information for all Note 2 LTE user!!!
This is incredibly useful information and thanks a lot for that - backed my data up just to be on the safe side!
This should, however, be on the EFS partition so if you are using TWRP you can actually create a full system backup including the EFS partition. I have been trying to get the N7100 CM build running on my N7105 by patching in various radio files and with the help of a certain developer within the N7100 community. So far the progress is slow but during this time I have been restoring back and forth between samsung stock and CM10. The facts of the process are this:
- The N7100 restores have to be patched to remove the check for N7100 (or you can use the N7100 recovery but that's not recommended.)
- The N7100 restores do *not* have support for our Qualcomm radio
- The N7100 restores *DO* work with Wi-Fi within our N7105 since this chip is the same
Essentially if you flash CM10 you end up with a tablet at this time but as I say, I am working on this when I get the time to fiddle and am hoping to get the N7105 CM build working properly.

Hi, I'm from Asia bought a export set of the note2 n7100. I just got to know that this unit is a Middle East unit with Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Iraq etc... is it ever possible to change the baseband and the CSC code to Asia?
I also noticed that the 4.1.2 software is not out for my unit, therefore I was wondering if I can change to CSC code to an Asia CSC code.
Please advise.
Thanks in advance.
try this: open phone dialer, dial: *#272* your phone Imei number and finish with #
Now you should see many CSC codes for different countries
choose one that you want and save
remember, once you press "save" device will factory reset. So back up your data.
There is also app in the market for this, but it pretty much does what I just explained above.
Back up your data first!!!

I tried *#272*imei# but doesn't seem to have any reaction. I downloaded the CSC Select but I can only choose the middle east countries...
This code won't work on note2
Why you not downloading full rom from region you like and flash using odin

hi, thanks for ur reply. flashing it with odin did came across my mind. but I was just wondering if the baseband will cause any problems. I also did wonder if I were to update using odin to another firmware, say I choose malaysia. nrxt time must I do the update via odin again? or can I use OTA?
thanks for ur advise
there won't be any issue using other country ROM.
If you flash malaysia ROM, you will get update OTA when there is update for malaysia.

do I need to backup my baseband imei etc?
I recommend only EFS backup and keep on ext Sd as well a copy on PC too
if you want to backup everything ROM including baseband you can make nandroid backup.

Hi Dr Ketan,
My phone is unrooted, can you advise what is the most safest way to backup the phone? Nandroid backup seem to require root access.
without root you won't have much option to backup
still you can use 'My backup Non root' or other similar to backup
-Contact (stock appl itself have option to backup, as well google sync)
-SMS
-Applications (without data, like credential, game level etc, you can just backup apk)

I'm more concern about EFS backup. I've rooted my HTC HD2 before and restoring the phone was simple. But for n7100, I am afraid it's not as simple as it is.
you needs root to backup EFS
root is just 10 min procedure, and there is no risk if you follow instruction to ther letter

Hi, If I use titanium backup will it be enough?
I would presume that if I would to do nandroid backup I will need to use the "Root with ExynosAbuse apk" ?
At the moment I'm running JB 4.1.1 but I wish to update it to another countries ROM.
Thanks in advance for your advice.
Titanium can't backup efs, it can just backup applications with data
For nandroid backup you need cwm (method 2in my guide)

Hi,
I wanted to root my Note 2 and try few things. And as a first step, I'm trying to find a right way to perform an EFS backup for my note 2. I did read in few threads that traditional EFS backup way will not work in note 2. And I found that there are couple of ways,
1) Galaxy Note 2 Toolkit here (which is not been updated for months now)
2) EFS Professional v2.0 here (but this points to the 9305. I understand both 7105 and 9305 share same Soc / Chipsets. But still is it right way?)
Is there are better way to do an EFS backup for Note 2? Please share some thoughts.
Here if you need rooting guide post #2 of this thread

If you use method 2 to root, then recovery also will have option to backup EFS.
If you have already rooted device

Hi evilbarcode,
Would you still possibly have the back up? I have messed up the GPS somehow on my N7105T and do not have a NV file back up. I don't need your IMEI just the NV data.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thank you

if flashing stock doesn't work, try to flash modem.

I have I galaxy III SGH T999 and installed the gummy ROM recently. I had been getting 3G /H instead of 4g/LTE so I decided to flush an LTE enabler modem. After I did this I have been unable to get service and my IMEI says unknown. Prior to doing this i had backed up my EFS folder onto my desktop using EFS backup tool. Now I am trying to restore EFS to see if it help. Could some please walk me through how to restore this folder? Thanks in advance.

One does not simply flash a modem from a different d2, you said you have a t999 therefore its not LTE capable... Only the T999L is capable of LTE ... Try flashing modems meant for the T999 like VUENC2 which is the latest... You'll find it on docholiday's modem thread

Thank you for the response. I will try your suggestion. How do I resolve the issue of unknown IMEI. As I said earlier, I backed up EFS prior to all these problems but I just cannot figure out how to restore it> I have tried the the emulator, copied directly from my desktop, EFS backup pro, but none has been helpful.
Well pray that its only showing that because of incompatible modem and flashing correct modem will fix it, honestly I have no idea , I never had an imei wiped before...
I tried flushing modems as you suggested but it did not work. Thanks for your help though. Anybody else. Please help me out. I need to figure out how to restore the back up of my EFS folder. There are a few files in the folder. One folder says IMEI and and I also have an EFS.img file saved to my desktop. Please help me.

did you use Odin to flash TWRP? I have never had any problems flashing 1st TWRP via Odin.
Make backup of EFS and keep it in safe place, everything else is not so important

Yes I used Odin, maybe with wrong TWRP file? is that possible?
Thanks for your anwser. I did that with a program called Titanium Backup
Do i restore it the same way i did the backup (same app) ?
What if it fails to restore it? Im afraid to try it again, it was a shock, though i bricked it
Some versions of TWRP don't do that. I used 2.8.0.0. But I just got tired of it and just used CWM philz advanced. I only use TWRP when i need to fix permissions. Also you can restore your IMEI by using Kies.
