wait to get into clockwork mod its up and down arrows and power button then when it says samsung let go power button but keep holding up and down arrows until clockwork turns on.
once in clockwork factory reset wipe cache and reflash a different rom. if needed dload and new rom and load into clock work it usng mount usb option under advanced to put the rom on your phone then flash it. if you cant get into clockwork go to this guide to use odin to flash back a stock rom and start over.

Thanks, but can I run it when i already have the ROM flashed?
Try the new cwm recovery and wipe manually. Download and flash cwm 6.Then the new cwm manual wipe is just as good and looks much better. Getting into cwm is the same process. First wipe cache then navi to advanced an enter then navi again to wipe dalvik then chose then navi to fix permissions to save anything broken down by wear of using your ROM. Oh and fix permissions is in the advanced menu. Good will hunting.

Heyy everyone! i have a samsung sgh t989D (telus edition) and i tried to root it. I put CWM and Cyanogen on it via Rom Manager and when i started my phone up it wouldnt get past the boot screen so im stuck in a bootloop. I can get to the CWM recovery page but i dont know what i should and can do to get out of this boot loop. I backed up i phone when i was trying to use the samsung toolkit a while ago but i still dont want to lose my data. I also dont care for the rom or root anymore. So i guess im asking what the best way to unroot my phone would be. Also my phone disconnects itself from my computer at times (my laptop makes the noise that a usb has been unplugged) and im using the stock wire with a usb 2.0 port.
Can you get into download mode or CWM without it rebooting? If not, does it get partially through the boot process before going into an infinite bootloop and vibrating every few seconds? If so, you could be another victim of power button hardware failure.

Your not suppose mount the system, just storage. In TWRP you can mount internal or external storage. Also, I'm not quite getting what you're saying. You have tried taking out the SD card and mounting it directly on your PC and it didn't work?

In the CM9 thread it says to ensure you download/install a CWM Touch recovery - if you don't you're guaranteed to get a boot loop. Their "fix" was to download and flash darkside-wipe-cache-only.zip via recovery and that will fix the problem.
I ended up having the same issue and that's how I fixed it.

Im saying that im stuck in a bootloop and i wana get the data off of my internal storage. I can only get to CWM recovery. I also wana just go back to stock ICS but if i can fix cyanogen without wiping my phone that would be great! i tried to plug in my phone and get my computer to read it so i can browse my phone's internal memory and get the pictures off of the internal storage but it wont recognize my phone. I tried checking all of the things in CWM but none of them worked.

Hey guys, I'm really new to rooting, flashing roms, and Android in general (I've used iOS since 2007 until a month ago... please have mercy on my soul). I have an AT&T GN2 that I would like to remove the bloatware from, hence why I began investigating rooting, but it's snowballed into my desire to try out some of the amazing ROMs that the developers here have produced. Since the Note 2 uses the Exynos 4, I rooted using the ExynosAbuse exploit and downloaded Titanium Backup to freeze the AT&T apps. So far, so good.
However, I am wanting to get into how to flash custom ROMs, like CyanogenMod, so I downloaded the CWM RomManager and flashed the CWM Recovery. I downloaded the CyanogenMod 10.1 release for the i317 model (here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2024495) and the latest gApps package (for 4.2.1), and flashed both from CWM RomManager. When it rebooted, it showed the CyanogenMod boot screen, but it appears to be stuck there. I'm not sure what to do at this point, and am hoping I didn't brick my phone. Is there anything I can do at this point?
Use the three button combo to get into recovery, should be volume up, home, and power, and then wipe data or install a stock rooted ROM. That should help get you to a bootable stage.

When I booted into recovery, I got the CWM recovery (which is a good thing, I suppose). I wiped the cache, and then installed the CM 10.1 zip and gApps zip. However, I think I still need to wipe data/factory reset, right?
So, at this point, I've:
1. Rooted the device using Chainfire's ExynosAbuse apk (super easy).
2. Installed RootChecker (success) and TI backup (froze bloatware apps).
3. Downloaded CWM RomManager.
4. Flashed CWM Recovery.
5. Downloaded CM 10.1 port for i317 (the AT&T GN2 model) and the 4.2.1 gApps zips.
6. Chose to install ROM from SD card in RomManager, added both CM 10.1 and gApps, and only selected install (did not wipe cache or user data at this point).
7. Received blue CyanogenMod boot screen... excited... but it remains on the boot screen. Sad face.
8. Removed battery to power the device off, placed battery back in, and then booted into recovery mode (CWM recovery).
9. Installed the CM 10.1 zip and gApps zip from SD, then wiped cache.
10. ???

EDIT: wiped dalvik cache, didn't do anything... apparently, this was a fine release so I'm not sure what could be causing the keyboard issues.

Well, I'm downloading CleanROM right now. I also downloaded another cm 10.1 file just in case, perhaps it's because I downloaded it on the mobile Chrome browser that I'm having problems? I also downloaded a kernel from the thread to help with performance. However, if I can't get these on the phone, it doesn't matter. Since I'm on a Mac, I have to use Android File Transfer, and it isn't registering my phone, unfortunately. I may have to go out and buy a cheap SD card and throw the files on there. It may not hurt to have one around, anyways.

No... I thought that a backup of the original ROM was made when flashing CWM recovery, but I am a noob and that did not happen. Unfortunately, the browser doesn't even work! So I cannot text myself the link for the download. I should be able to flash a zip file from a micro sdhc, right?
Flash the right GAPPS, the crashing keyboard is a symptom of incorrect GAPPS. The December one is for 4.2.1 only, which is what CM10.1 is based on. Make sure you flash the right GAPPS with the right CM version.

Oh... crap. Is there any way I can get the correct gApps on my phone? Ugh... I'm going to have access to a Windows machine today, so I can download the correct GAPPS and put them on my flash drive. I can still put it in USB debugging mode, but will the PC recognize it? Android File Transfer software for Mac does not recognize the phone any more, so I'm a bit limited in what I can do. Unless, like I said before, I can just pop in an SD card with the correct file.
Just grab goo manager from the market and dl the correct gapps to your phone. Either that or use your phones browser. No need for a pc. Boot in recovery, wipe cache and dalvik and flash correct gapps. Should be gtg.
Edit: just saw your browser isn't working. Goo manager's your best bet. Could always try another browser from the market as well. Good luck.

I was messing around with r/w and r/o related stuff and accidentally moved something in permissions in a folder named /system i think it read something like rw-r-r after i moved it but that wasn't the format i saw before i moved it also everything started not working as soon as i pressed apply for example (Unfortunately -insert any app or program here- has stopped working)... please help
Also my phone vibrates when its connected but no LED lights are on.
Although the orange light did turn on ONCE and the charging battery too when i rebooted or turned phone off from recovery mode... i don't know how it happened
Here is what is happening to my Galaxy S III phone (SPRINT 4G LTE)
I can go into download mode
I can go into Recovery mode
Odin3 doesn't detect my phone (i assume its cuz i moved the r/w and r/o stuff... and jacked everything up)
Wiping data doesn't fix anything
Neither does cache

Thats the thing i dont know how to wipe davlik and reflash a rom
Wipe dalvik cache: Advanced > Wipe dalvik cache
Wipe cache: Mounts and format > Format /cache
Reflash rom (you really shouldn't be messing with stuff if you dont know how to reflash your rom):
Boot into recovery and go to Install > Navigate to folder where your rom is stored > Select it > Confirm / Hit yes / Hit install and slide the bar (TWRP only)
Wait for it to finish, then reboot
It's all in recovery. And just some advice, you shouldn't do anything to your phone unless you know how to fix it. I use twrp recovery and all wipe options are in the wipe menu.

problem is that there is no Advance option. I think my phone goes into its normal Recovery mode. i think the root that it had doesnt work anymore.
The root can not change because you messed with permission, also you should be able to go into your custom recovery, which one do you have? Do you know how to 3 finger into recovery? If you can get into recovery first thing I would do is wipe dalvik, wipe cache and fix permissions and see if it boots. If not then what everyone else said flash a Rom.

If you can get into download mode, just flash a stock rom and start from scratch. Or you can ODIN a custom recovery and then make a backup so that at least your data is safe

Volume down power and home gets you into download like you are now., you want volume up, power and home to get into custom recovery. If you rooted your device properly you should have CWM or TWRP installed as one of the two available custom recoveries.

Ok i installed odin3 1.85 and got a CF autoroot.tar file (idk if i can post full file name)
Odin detected my phone perfectly, applied the .tar file using PDA i just waited how it told me i never touched the boxes on the left unless it told me to.
Then my phone went black and some letters came just like a normal successful root.
My phone rebooted and went home rooted.
it worked perfectly i was satisfied until today i accidentally moved those permissions dealing with r/w r/o Rw-r-r on the folder /system.

you know what... i havent tried that sir/maam. Ill try with different ones
EDIT
I tried 2 other cords. they both worked but computer still did not recognize the device. Its labeled as unknown device. but it successfully installed?... its still unknown device though.
EDIT 2:
Looks like when i connect it. it vibrates and every time it vibrates it disconnects or something cuz the messages of (Device not recognize) Keep popping up and the computer makes a noise as if something connected.
You do have the drivers installed on the computer right?
