I really like my dinc, yet it has been running slow and the battery life drains quickly. I was wondering if there's anything like a mod out there to make it fast such as a CPU overclock for dinc or V6 supercharger script which tweaks up the ram memory. I am running miui 2.1.2 GB
I haven't been around lately so I don't know if there's something new out there that can make dinc fast.

Not trying to do a plug right now or anything but my ROM is very quick and responsive. If you're really attached to MIUI, though, you should look around for incredible kernels compatible with MIUI. I was going to suggest Tiny's Incredikernel but I don't think any of his will work. I don't have time to look into it right now but I will update this comment with more info when I have a minute to search around.

Pardon my laziness but this is incredikernel: http://www.incredikernel.com/
To elaborate, a kernel is an element of the OS that does all of the communication between applications and the hardware components. The more efficient your kernel is, the more battery life and performance you will get out of your device. Incredikernel, specifically, is a kernel that chad/tiny developed for our beloved incredible.

MIUI is still an AOSP ROM, heavily modified though it may be, and the AOSP incredikernel works on it. I used incredikernel on GB MIUI way back when before ICS was released. The Gingertiny kernels are for sense-based ROMs, the Incredikernels are for AOSP-based ROM's. They're excellent kernels, and support cool stuff like overclocking, undervolting, USB fast charging, etc. I highly recommend them. You'd want the latest Gingerbread (AOSP) kernel for MIUI GB.
V6 Supercharger also works on the dinc, I never used that with MIUI though.
I recommend Pons's cm10 nightlies which is now being compiled by Tiny(he has his own thread). Its super quick and extremely functional. I havent had a single FC or crash or anything. My phone is 50% supercharged from v6 supercharger(because last time I modded the services.jar I had to restore from nandroid) and its super smooth. I am very happy with it and my DINC works faster than my roomate's htc onex.
Thank you guys, for all your support. After flashing the latest incredikernel for gb, I feel like it's running smoother than before.

Hey guys I just got root and installed Clockwork Mod and backed up everything. I'm just wondering what ROM does everyone think is best. I prefer AOSP but I can't seem to find what bugs are exactly in CM7 for INC2. Also thanks to rivera82falcon for the extremely helpful/clear instructions on how to root.
I'm running cm7 nightly 39 and so far I haven't seen any bugs or had any reboots whatsoever. And I'm also running tiamat. 1.1 and am overclocked to 1.5 ghz and the battery life is even better than it was stock. Noticeably better.

I use OMFGB with Tiamat 1.0.4. I also tried CM7 before. It really is a matter of preference. Give them all a shot and see what you like best.
Thanks for the responses I went with CM so far so good. I haven't had any issues so far.
I'd say CM7 Latest Nightly + Tiamat Kernel for the best setup IMO, if you want sense go with TrueLefty or RMK's roms.
I've used CM7, MIUI, and Incredible Sensation
Each one was stable, and each has it's ups & downs...if you like AOSP the CM7 nightly train is great!
I am using MIUI currently with the Tiamat 1.1 kernel. Phone flies. Haven't noticed any issues so far, but I am pretty minimalistic. Tried CM7 nightly 40 and Virtuous and they both performed great.

I am putting a custom rom on my wife's phone for the first time. She doesn't really do anything major on her phone. She has gingerbread and it just got rooted. Any suggestions on a good rom to use? Thanks.
Besides being in the wrong section, miui is a great asop rom. If you want a little sense 3.0 check out newt's sensation. Rmk has a debloated version of the latest ota gingerbread if you fancy something more stock.

I have been trying alot of these out last couple days but i havent tried the sense 3.0 been having best luck with miks new sensation 1.1 though
If you need GSM for international travel, select carefully. Most ROM's don't support it well or at all in many cases. If you are CDMA only, your choices are more solid.
I've tried miui and cm7 and in my opinion cm7 is just a snappier and better ROM. Just my opinion though

CM7? Which one is that?
BTW, as to why she might want a custom rom, speed...right?
Really all of the roms out now are pretty nice...
Being for a girl I'd think shed lean toward liking miui or a sense 3.0 based roms like virtuous or mikroms incredible sensation. The latest version from newtoroot (incredible sensation) has given me the best results. Very fast and stable and newt has been very responsive with the few quirks. by quirks I mean that his version is based on sense 2.1 so there was more he had to do to get the framework to align. It is definitely good enough to be a daily driver now.
Cm7 and omgb/omfgb are probably the fastest roms out. I really like omfgb combined with the tiamat kernel but cm7 is similarly great with more customization options (most of which your wife would likely never use). Omgb/omfgb is very back to basic, pure Android experience.
Rmks gingersense has been mostly my go-to though. Similar to stock, debloated, customizable. Pretty much a set it and forget it option with no issues. The only thing that aosp based roms have that I have an issue with is the incall volume. Tiamats kernel improves this a lot but still not quite where stock sense is in volume level.

Since us Evo 4G users can root our phones, what ROM are you using? What Rom is better/ more features 4G working etc???
With the new update is anyone using CM7 7.0.3?? What Roms are updated using the GB update?
What are you using?? Just curious and wanting to see the responses on the best of the best?
AOSP all the way.
CM7 latest nightly + Honeybread theme + Supercharger Script + Tiamat kernel 4.07 -75mv
Its definitely personal opinion really.
Most roms support 4G, etc. IIRC, MIUI doesnt support 4G yet but its in the works.
The choice mainly boils down to Sense vs AOSP. Sense 3 is quite appealing, visually (though I only played with it for about 10minutes =p). All in all, each has their pros.
Try out a few and see which You like the most.

Please stop saying it's in the works. It isn't, and won't be until they release the source code or they implement 4G in China. I'm not trying to be nasty, but it's just not happening anytime soon from what we know.
I use MIUI, and it's the best even without 4G.

MIUI
I use MIUI just because it's simple and it has a build-in tether, but don't like it because it doesn't support 4G and probably a whole lot of other stuff.

I am using this too. I was using the synergy rls but it became real unstable out of nowhere. I cannot blame the ROM it might have been the v6 script and 3g script. I have never had an issue with MikG. And I just 86'ed the scripts.

I'm currently using CM7 RC1, with tiamat 4.07. Love it but some battery drain.
My eye has been out on the new 3.5 sense roms tho.
SalvageMod 1.4 with Tiamat 3.3.7 kernel with v6 supercharger installed.
I love it!
I'm new to rooting and ROMs but I'll just throw out my noob/extremely novice experience over the past 2 weeks.
I've flashed CM7, Synergy, Kinged Shooter, and now I'm using SOS 1.9.
The only one I didn't keep on for at least 24 hours was the Shooter ROM . I had all sorts of lag issues (admittedly it was probably something I did and not the developer). CM7 is nice and I wouldn't hesitate to go back. I LOVED Synergy. Very nice ROM. It's a big ROM with lots of nice add ons and features. SOS is great if you want bare bones stock ROM. It has been incredibly fast, no lag and battery life isn't budging in spite of my increased activity re-installing apps/themes and what not.
I'll probably stick with SOS for a bit since it seems to be running so smoothly. If I go back to one it will most definitely be Synergy. It's been my favorite so far.
I'm using Nocturnal Bliss beta v.FIVE from King, Team Nocturnal, and several others who I can't name off the top of my head with ChopSuey 9.2.6 for the kernel. It's Android 2.3.4 with 3.5 Sense. It runs a lot better than any Sense 3.0 ROMs I've tried.
I don't think 4g works(don't have a lot in my area so not as important)
USB doesn't work(I use WiFi Explorer pro or recovery mount)
Need to partition SD card for more room(Darktremor's a2sd baked in)
Other wise it is a good ROM.

Wow!! Thanks for the responses. So many difference of opinions but that's what makes this site great..so the MIUI I keep seeing a debate about 4G....Ive read a lot on it very nice Rom....CM7 is what I use the 7.0.3 release for Evo. I'm using Tiamat kernel. Is there a better kernel for CM7? I thought of flashing the sbc kernel by Tiamat...I'm going to check out other roms as well.....this is fantastic. what is so different about MIUI?? It looks like an iPhone set up for android. Is it a small Rom or does it just come down to personal preference?

What Rom and Kernel is everyone using?
Curious as to know exactly what people on XDA are running on their OG EVO 4G.
I've found Decks 2.3.7 GB is the best GB Rom IMO but it is getting old, as in age.
*Best GB?+Kernel?
*Best ICS?+Kernel?
*Best Sense?+Kernel?
I would personally rather run ICS but I am so anal about my phone that the screen flicker when turning the screen off really aggravates me.
Just trying to get a feel which Rom is the "best" for you & why that is?
Thanks!

Nope. this is a solid daily driver. Only the FFC and 4G are inop. barcodescanner doesn't work for some reason and no HWA yet, but still smooth and fast as hell.
I have a guide for it. Click the Evo guide in my signature and at the end of the Original Post is a link to ICS MIUI Setup.

Soo. I've been flashing ROM's for a while now, well I've gone through a Sanyo zip, a kyocera milano, a ghetto ass "Sawee Pad" that i cant do crap woth really, then i got my incredible and ive gone from cm7 v13 to cm9 Kangs, to Peter Alfonso's Pete_Inc_03_10_12, to few others. The thing is, I really like ICS, but everything I've flashed in some way or another was unstable and I dreaded installing apps or anything else for that matter. So I've been back to cm7 v13 for about a month now.. what's the best overall most stable ICS ROM out there for the incredible? I don't care about fancy schmancy customizations. I want something basic and very stable (or just super awesome thats stable) I would love to hear your opinions, pros/cons. I will be researching most of the night I'm sure. I use my Ding for a lot of things, gaming/movies/music/inet surfing.. just wanna flash a new ROM and wanting your opinions. Thanks

Hope it helps you.

If you keep the stock kernel, they are almost all stable. The different kernels will cause some phone to freeze when plugging and unplugging.
It's hard to keep it all straight but I believe you need a 3rd party video app to record video ( video cam illusions) in most ics roms. Build 38 and 39 of AOKP do not work on the dinc, both cm9's and the new abduction are really smooth. Just flash and enjoy, that's my motto.
Ah so that's why it didn't work. CM 7.2 is much, much quicker though.

For all out stability without any misfeatures, CM7 w/ stock kernel. If an alternate kernel is stable for you, then great.
That said, invisiblek's ICS builds are getting there, but there's still some weirdness here and there.
I've heard that the latest evervolv ICS alpha is really nice, and they've got the video camera working -- I haven't tried it myself though. Videocam Illusions just records in MJPEG -- you've got to be desperate for ICS + videocam to want to use that.
Throwing my vote in for pures anthem ROM. Buttery smooth, fast, and stable. Oh, and pretty. only issue I have is that sometimes 3g disappears, and a restart is required to fix it.

I would love to be on ICS ROM as well...but I have some misgivings about it. Even if some ICS ROMs may be stable, from what I see, they are still slower and grab more battery then our GB ROMs. That's a deal breaker right there. I don't understand why people want ICS soooo badly on their Dinc if its gonna be like that. Stable is great...but its gonna hog more battery
I'm on the latest RC of CM7.2 with Chad/Tiny Incredikernel and couldn't be happier. Stable, Fast, and battery efficient.....
I have an extended battery and get the same or better. Dinc accessories are getting cheap on amazon. I can get about 18 he with 3hr + of screen on.

Battery life is subjective and different people may have different capacity batteries at different points in their lifespan and different usage levels. I for one think it's decent, maybe not as good as cm7 but probably better than the galaxy nexus.
Oh and not to mention different screen types, AMOLED can drain faster than SLCD.

It's a little overwhelming coming in as a noob. I'm wanting to put some life back into my dinc.
Would the latest CM9 nightly be the best start? Anything I should know about? Is flashing a new kernel worth it, or should I stick with stock? idk the best start to try a rom, but maybe u can try an aosp GB which is CM7 or miui.
but if ur very interested in ICS UI then CM9 all the way. there is a lot of CM9 mod such as invisiblek's, abduction, kang's, and others, and there is also a combine cm9 + miui such as miui v4 ics.

You can look near the end of scottys guide to see You can be as noob as possible, once u get CWM recovery, its as simple as putting the rom on your SD card, then going into recovery and selecting to flash it. I would recommend tiny's incredikernel HWA RC1

S-off'd and flashed the 7/5 cm9 nightly last night. Wow. Its like I have a new phone.
Couple things. Text input lags a bit. Anything to speed that up? Performance is pretty good overall but I feel like it could be better. Battery life seems to be on par with stock (buying an extended soon cause I'm still on the original battery). I also seem to be running a bit warmer than stock. Will a new kernel help?
