Touch Sensativity Issue? - Sprint LG Optimus G

Man this touch screen issue is sure a PITA. Seems to do it mostly when plugged in. I sure hope it's a software issue and not a hardware/touch sensor issue because it's going to drive me up the wall Any body figured this out yet?

Yep, i've experienced it too... seems to be software related. I had once or maybe twice when it completely bugged up and swipes were messed up and everything-had to reboot. Then pretty much all the time it is difficult to get a long press to work. It seemed to help when I actually applied more pressure to the phone, rather than just holding it longer. Idk, i'm coming from a pretty crappy touch screen. Oh well....we will find out very soon if aosp/etc. will fix it.

Experiencing it now. It is currently charging.. Is it only on charge? Wasn't happening before.

I've been experiencing it on and off charger. It doesn't happen often enough to be a show stopper but annoying. There's one app in particular that seems to experience it more than others. Makes me think its def a software issue. For a while i thought it might be the snug commuter case since the screen abutts the edge of the phone so closely.

It's it on all chargers? Or just home wall chargers?
Older houses might have bad grounding from the electrical grid. The digitizer in a lot of devices could be sensitive to it.
Cheap chargers also cause this issue.
The problem isn't limited to the OG either. I've had the issue on my epic with a cheap car charger.
The problem might persist until you plug it into a proper charger with good grounding.
No issues with the OG so far. Using Samsung cable to computer, Epic 4G wall charger, generic car charger, and HP Touchpad tablet charger.

I just always use an iPhone plug. Those things are built incredibly well. No issues at all

OK so I've found that on the stock LG charger that's rated at 1.2amp @ 5v it rarely ever does it and my car charger which I've clocked at about 1.2 to 1.3amp also doesn't do it. My HTC charger rated at 1amp with HTC cable it does it occasionally and with HTC charger and my 6ft cable which is thinner and I've clocked at output of only about 0.5 to 0.7amps is where I have the most problems...no problems off the chargers at all. Seems to be related to weaker input voltages which I guess could have to do with software trying to control input voltage regulation on the device. Just some info I figure our FYI.

Evo charging lag?

This isn't a problem but more of just a general question. So does anyone else experience your phone kinda lagging or having screen sensitivity issues (have to press hard on screen to scroll) while having the phone charge? This is like a 50/50 thing sometimes it does this sometimes not. So post your experiences with this

Yes indeed. In my case, it's caused by my HTC USB cable that came with the phone. When I use the charger from my old LG ENV3, i never get that problem at all. As soon as I switch to the HTC cable, it's nearly un-usable whilst plugged in. It's odd, because the HTC cable works fine for charging and transferring data, so I don't know, but there's something wonky with it.
Hmm interesting

Nope, you're not. It can certainly become rather annoying if you're trying to use your phone while it's charging.
Yea, using swype is IMPOSSIBLE when plugged in.
I never used to have this problem before, so I wonder if this is something that comes with age of the phone. I've run all kinds of roms/kernels and never had this issue until maybe a month ago. But I think I've successfully narrowed it down.
You need a charger that outputs 5v at 1000mA. Any more or less and you'll get the wonky response. I have an 800mA and a 1.5A charger at 5v and I get the laggy response. And I took it a step further and noticed that I get maximum charging speed (regardless of kernel, I've tried stock and custom/SBC kernels) with a 28/24 AWG or 24/24 AWG micro USB cable. If you still rock the stock HTC charger/cable combo you should be golden.

i don't think its from age of the phone because i just got my phone in december (hw 0004) and i am still using the stock htc charger/cable. so idk its a mystery. nice work finding all that out tho its good to know that i am not the only person who experiences this haha.
I only get the problem when I'm plugged into A/C power, but not when I'm plugged into the D/C car charger... I think it has something to do with how the outlet is grounded. Maybe the touchscreen gets confused by getting grounded through the charging port rather than through your body. I'm basically making this up based on hazy memories from an E&M class I took about 8 years ago, but I think it's close. Anybody with any actual knowledge care to correct me?

[Q] Screen Freak-out

I've had the phone since Monday. Last night, now that we have a stock kernel, I went ahead and rooted my phone.
Today, on three occasions (requiring reboot) my phone had what I can only describe as a touchscreen freak-out. The image twitches and jumps around even when not being touched. When it is touched, it's entirely unusable. Apps not even close to your finger open and close with a quickness. I've already sent a few very fun swype text messages, as you might imagine.
I migrated from the OG Epic and never had any issue like this. Lack of responsiveness when dirty, but not total madness. Has anyone else had anything like this happen? Is it just a matter of needing to get a new phone?
Thanks for any advice!

Happened to me today too. It was the OEM HTC EVO 4g charger causing it.

So this is a known issue? I hadn't seen it mentioned before.
It's a known issue. Some people claim to have good results with a different cable, some with a different charger. One theory is that the wall charger is over-rated and that extra juice is making it go wonky. USB charging doesn't seem to be affected by it. The effect seems to decrease the closer to 100% charge you get. It's a known problem on a wide variety of devices from a wide variety of manufacturers and aside from your cable and/or charger your own local power may have something to do with it. A software update can fix it as it has in the past on a wide variety of devices. Not everyone has this problem all the time. YMMV
I would suggest buying an OEM blackberry charger from Amazon for like 7 bucks. That's what I used on my epic and what I'm using now on my epic touch. The charger that came with this phone is still sitting in the box.

Touchscreen quirky when on AC power

Both mine AND my girlfriends gs2 have this problem. When the phone is charging, the touchscreen is not reading the correct point of where I touch. Anyone else having this problem?
Yeah we all are. There is something wrong with the square adapter that came with the phone. Try plugging it into a PC to charge or using a different adapter. It works fine.
I noticed this as well, but only with non-OEM adapters.
And I thought it was only me. Get the same problem only with cheap chargers.
OEM, MT4G, Transformer, Touchpad, Galaxy Player, Ipad & iPhone chargers all do not experience the problem.

I don't and I also have this problem.
I believe its the square Samsung charging adapter.
Powered by the SGSII....
Ditto here, it behaves Ok when charged from my laptop, PC and Motorola charger (came with my Milestone), but definitely quirky when charged from the square little adapter that came with the SGS-T989D.
Add me to this list as well.

Same here, but it does change when I use another Samsung adapter like the one from my Vibrant it'll actually work once i use that one.

This is happening to me. I am using a Quikcharger for Samsung which I bought from Sears. Anyway to fix this? Because the OEM square charger + data cable is to short to use in bed.

it only happens with defective charging cables
how i know?... i just accidentally crippled a pin of my existing charger, and now even though it still charges, it causes all kind of random weird things in my phone.
so i simply stopped using it, and changed to another charging cable

This is a known issue with the SGS2. Any inconsistencies or issues with the power supply via AC will cause the screen to tweak out. Possible causes are a bad cable, bad power source (outlet), or improperly inserted microUSB connector. If you try a number of times and cannot get the cable to connect properly, return it or get a new one.

it's not a SGS2 only issue, it happens to all the other phones i've owned before

Touch screen goes crazy while charging

INFO:
Yesterday the screen was completely unusable, it looked like it was not calibrated (like the old qtek's and htc's) and was not only unresponsive but also very slow, so it did click where and when you didnt want.
CONCLUSION:
after some time I realized and was able to duplicate it when the phone was connected to the wall charger thru the USB cable.
Gotta say im using a really cheap wall charger USB connection because the one from the box is not working. (do have any idea why is this?)
In some threads, it also says it is a common issue in SGS2 but no one says anything about SGN.
Do you have the same issue?

I know nothing about this issue, but if I were you I'd stop using that charger immediately. If that's the only time it happens the Nexus might be getting over 5.0v from the charger.

Also happened with my sgs, so i bought another charger. An official charger. Not that expensive.

Hi guys, sorry for the revive, but I'm having the same issue as the OP but with both official usb cable and wall charger that came with the phone. Is there any way to fix it? Or should I get another official charger?
Its a voltage issue between the charger and phone. Its been that way since android began.

[Q]Wall Chargers

Does anyone else have a problem with their wall chargers dying on them? I don't know if its the wall outlet itself or what killing these things. I've had 2 die on me since I've owned this phone, but never had problems when with other phones with microusb chargers. I probably just need to change out the outlet, was just wondering if this is a common problem for others?

Never had or heard of this issue (until now) I would guess it's the outlet. But...hmm...is it the cable or the AC to USB part that's actually dying?

Are you using a aftermarket charger, is it plugged directly into the wall or is it connected to an extension cord? Sounds like it could be the wall outlet though.

I had the original one die on me as well ... but, I was plugging it into an inverter (modified sine wave) so not apples to apples.
I just scrapped it and started using an old Blackberry charger and have had no issues for months.
I just chalked it up to a defective charger and went on about my way.
No help I guess, other than I did have the supplied one die while the BB one chugs right along with the same type of connection.
Well, the stock one died on me. Then i used my Motorola one and that died on me.. and my car charger I've had for years died on me today as well... I'm hoping it's just my wall outlet, but its weird that my car charger died, too.

That sounds really strange . What makes it even weirder is that you've gone through three of them. I would defiantly check the wall outlet / s . As for the Car Charger if it has some years on it. The fact that it went south on you might just be a coincidence.
My father in law had 2 charging cords go bad on him already ....maybe try a after market one instead of a OEM charger

Now there's an interesting point. How many of you with Charger issues are plugging straight into the Wall, vs plugging into a Power / Surge Strip ? I'm not saying it matters. It would just be interesting to find out. I also have my Charger plugged into a Power Strip with built in Surge Protector.
Mines is straight into the wall, using it for my shift now but yeah. My sisters is straight into the outlet as well
Neither of us have had issues
Mine was in an outlet... many many different ones too. Sprint tested it and told me it was bad. Bow I am using the LG rumor charged I got in 2009 and it still works just fine. I had to move both around a lot so i don't know why Samsung one broke, other than it was USB?
