Which Note II for AT&T MVNO - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I currently own a GT-N7000 Note and am going to upgrade by purchasing a Note II, but I am having some trouble figuring out which exact version to get.
I tried purchasing Galaxy S III once and AT&T refused to unlock the device despite me having paid the full $699 for it. (I ended up having to return it because of this)
I have 4 requirements for the phone but can't figure out what model meets all of them. Any help or suggestions from the community would be greatly appreciated.
1. I will be using the phone on AT&T MVNO's (am currently on RedPocket).
2. I would like to have working LTE (US is 700Mhz Class 17 I believe.
3. I would like to either have the phone come without carrier modifications to the OS and without bloatware, or if that is completely non-existant at the very least have a version of the Note II that will allow me to easily load a stock ROM on it with all features (especially tethering built in), and without any loss of functionality (i.e. I don't want to deal with firmware incompatibility problems like no working LTE radio or instability or the like)
4. I will be using the phone overseas every now and then so it definitely needs to be unlocked.
Thanks guys.

Has anyone ordered from here?
cellgsmphones.com
Supposedly they are shipping the phones straight from Korea and it has 700 band LTE.
If so, did the phone really come with 700Mhz LTE?
The site says the specs/info came from a wiki, so I am guessing it might be all wrong.

Well if you want to use a MVNO of AT&T you wont be getting LTE, They don`t allow it, its ONLY for AT&T Contract and or Prepaid but it does not work on AT&T`s MVNO`s none of them currently.

I say just buy the ATT Note2 and try to get ATT to unlock and if not pay the $25-30 to get the unlock code from; http://www.cellunlocker.net/.
Hyelton is correct, no ATT MVNO has LTE and I read an article that ATT will be bringing LTE to GoPhone but it's at least a year out.
I have a N7100 on an ATT MVNO and I am getting 5-8Mbps down so it's not bad.
Not quite sure why someone would want to pay extra for a Korean version of a phone to use on ATT when you can just buy the ATT version and pay to unlock it cheaper. Unless your trying to get it on a dumb phone plan and are hoping that the Korean Imei never gets blocked.

Its actualy cheaper to buy the N7100 than the AT&T one. AT&T is $699 plus tax. I only Paid about $600 for mine with free shipping and no tax

[Q] Roger / Bell Canada unlocked SGS3 phone work with AT&T Network?

From this Wikipedia list...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S_III
...it appears that both Rogers and Bell in Canada are offering a SGH-I747 Samsung GS3 which is listed as the same variant as AT&T. However, they are offering internal 32GB models and AT&T is not, and that's what I want. I'm current using an iPhone 4S 64GB and I want to be able to swap sim cards back and forth between phones. Yes, I know I can get a 64GB microSD card but I want 96Gb on the phone (I don't want to argue this point).
So I have a few questions:
1) If I get a Rogers or Bell phone without contract and manage to unlock it, will it be fully compatable with the AT&T network just by swapping sims cards with the iPhone?
2) Will it work with AT&T LTE as well as 3G / Edge, both cell and data?
3) Does unlocking companies like cellunlocker.net actually WORK? Is this legal?
Thanks in advance for any info anyone can provide.

1 yes as long as the Sim is the newer smaller type.
2 yes
3 yes and legal. No warranty void

Sorry, I DID do a search but I could not find anything specifically related to the Canada variants of the Samsung SGS3 running on the AT&T network
Just as a follow-up if I may - How would I then get O/S updates? Will I be able to install updates (like Jelly Bean 4.1 when it comes) from AT&T?
Tony
good question, you will probably get updates through kies regardless, probably end up getting the canadian version (only speaking from experience with the skyrocket) They usually ad an extra letter to the model number to signify carrier, and it will prevent you from flashing an OTA from someone else.
With that said, when an update gets release, it will end up here as well, and you can then choose to flash the AT&T version that way. But thats way down the line.

Thanks. But I'm not quite sure I follow.
What is "kies" and "the skyrocket"? And per your last paragraph, is it possible to flash an AT&T version of the O/S on a Bell / Rogers phone?
BTW - Do you work for Bell Canada? If so, is there any issues with unlocking the phone with a 3rd party unlocker? I don't want to to anything illegal - I just want a 32GB phone that works on an AT&T LTE network.
Thanks,
Tony
From what I've seen and heard, I am confident that the big 3's version is fully compatible with AT&T network.
The model is all the same as I747M. Spec are all the same, so.... I am not worried.
In fact, Rogers uses the exact same network technology to AT&T. All the phone works on Rogers will works perfectly on AT&T as well! As long as it's unlocked.
Prior to my purchase of Rogers' SGS3, I was tempted to buy the AT&T version as it's cheaper.....
The point is probably moot since I cannot get either Rogers or Bell to sell me a phone at full price without a plan and ship it to the USA. They won't do this.
So I probably have to wait until one of these phone is offered from a Canadian customer via another source, like eBay. Any suggestions from anyone on how to get a Rogers or Bell phone shipped to the USA?
Jeez...If only AT&T offered a friggin' 32GB phone!! I wonder when those 128GB microSD cards are coming out.
Tony
You can buy the phone outright directly from rogers but yes, you will need a friend's address in Canada to ship it to. Then have that friend ship it to you in the US. Your other option is to come up - many dealers will sell it to you outright.
If you look around xda, the current methods of rooting and unlocking the phone are not so simple or pretty. In addition to that, the risks you'll have to take and extra costs likely isn't worth the extra 16GB.

So the simple method of unlocking as described on cellunlocker.net with just the input of a code doesn't work?

No that works for sim unlocking. (unlocking to use on another network

Kies is the desktop software that samsung uses to backup your device as well as deliver updates
Now can you use this method to flash an AT&T rom on a rogers device. is unknown. in the past with the skyrocket (otherwise known as the Samsung Galaxy S2 LTE) the only difference is the hardcoded model number was I727R while at&t was I727 so flashing which would prevent that.
At the same time, this is xda there are fantastic people that would make a method for you to do that. The key, if you are game to do so is to do a lot of reading, and do nothing without feeling confident in what you are doing.
No I don't work for bell, but if they're here and in need of someone in the Marketing Dept..... However no issues with unlocking on a legal front

I assumed you wanted the free unlocking method. Of course if you're willing to pay for the unlock codes, I stand corrected.
Oh there's a free method? Knew there was for the s1 and s2 but didn't have it for the lte version of the s2.
I would look for the free method usually doesn't involve too many steps.

[Q] Anybody using T-Mobile on AT&T?

Anybody who is using the T-Mobile tab s on AT&T I have some questions. Does the T-Mobile version support LTE on AT&T network, does CF Auto Root work on T-Mobile version, where did you obtain the unlock code for use on AT&T or is the tablet unlocked at purchase? I plan to buy either T-Mobile or AT&T variant ASAP. I don't know if the AT&T bootloader is locked down like all of there phones are now if not I would just buy the AT&T one but as of now I own a note edge on contract and dream of root with no sign of it coming anytime soon. Thanks for any input, a fast response would be awesome cause I am itching to go pick one of these up.

Which did you buy?
Ended up wit the 32GB wifi version from bestbuy. If I have it out and about I use my hotspot from my edge. I figured it was a better move than paying $10 a month for two years to add a tablet to my AT&T account, plus I figured lollipop upgrade will come quicker on wifi version. Currently rooted and running iron rom for T800 I like the tab s but don't find myself using it very often with it being more convenient just to pick up my note.

Anyone able to use this on AT&T? Heard it was not possible...

I want to use this on AT&T but heard it was not possible cause this new t-mobile unlocking app which will prevent this from happening unless you actually have t-mobile service for 40 days.

That's correct, only other option right now is to have someone who has tmobile (for more than 40 days) who purchased the phone and unlock it themselves under their account, then they can sell you the device.
false my sister has tmobile got s6 edge didn't like it compared to her iphone 6 plus so gave it to me as a early bday gift im on att and I am using it with out problems other than the lte band is a lil slower
If she just gave it to you for use on att how was it unlocked?

i just found out that she was using it on tmobile but got it threw samsung i guess i shouldve asked her all the details from the get go sorry for oping my big mouth without my facts together
That might your bandwidth speeds. Sounds like it might be an international model maybe? It would work on T-Mobile or AT&T, but you wouldn't pick up full LTE speeds.

Model with LTE Band 4 (AWS: 1700/2100)

Hi! I want to buy an HTC Desire Eye but I need a version with LTE Band 4 (AWS: 1700/2100) without contract.
Can anybody tell me a safe link from amazon to buy it?
Thanks!

The AT&T version supports LTE band 4 and I just bought one for my wife. At first I thought I'd get it at the AT&T store, but they won't unlock it until you've been using their service for 60 days, so I bought it off of the HTC website (without contract), but it turned out that it was still locked to AT&T and I would still need the 60 days of service for them (AT&T) to unlock it. Instead, I purchased an unlock code online for $6.95 and had it working on T-Mobile's network in no time. If I had it to do over again, I'd buy it from the AT&T store with a pre-pay plan and then just use the online unlock code since the phone is about $100 cheaper at the AT&T store than on the HTC site (and it's the exact same phone).

Thanks for the answer! Can you buy it with a pre-pay plan through AT&T website insted of from a store? I've researched AT&T site and it seems to be mandatory buy the phone with contract but perhaps Im doing something wrong since Im uruguaian and do not understand precisely how AT&T operates.

I don't think you can get it with a pre-pay plan online. I think I tried that but didn't get very far. I'm not an AT&T customer either, so I'm not very familiar with their plans.
Just buy a used one from amazon at&t version and get an unlock code on ebay for under $5, that's what I did

At&t? Stay or go.

I know this may be an open ended question but as on now which carrier provides tho best opportunity when it comes to rooting and rom development. I've been rooting and flashing roms for years with other android phones but only on At&t. With the current state of updates from At&t as well and not being able to flash on at&t i'm possibly going to drop att after contract runs out. Current cell is N910A and I miss flashing new roms to try. I seen a vid of a guy flashing Dr. Keatons rom to his Note 4 N910 g/h i think and it looked awesome. Thanks guys
frankly its best to buy an unlocked phone. if you need a carrier branded phone then try t-mobile
Carriers' advantage is with the phone subsidy..
And though the Note series is probably the best coming from Samsung (probably the best Android, too), it is quite expensive to be honest..

The AT&T NEXT plan you are paying for your phone in increments. The old way was to give you $X amount of subsidy and have you pay a discounted price for the phone itself. Then they locked you into a contract where you were basically repaying that subsidy.
Basically you always paid for your phone, so I think that carriers' advantage only applies if you can't afford to purchase the handset outright.
Stay with ATT and buy an international phone that will work on it (ATT may or may not throttle your data speeds though. Not sure)
Or leave ATT and go with T-mobile and get a rootable phone. Or go with Verizon and MAYBE get LUCKY and get a rootable phone.
Those are really the two options if you want a rootable phone. You can keep ATT and still be able to use a rootable phone. Just don't expect root on an ATT phone.
