Swap Between Accounts for Upgrade - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

So I currently have a Galaxy Nexus, of which my brother wants to take off of my hands. I'm not due for an upgrade, but on his account, he is. We're considering taking advantage of using his upgrade on the S3 fro $49.99 over the next couple of days, but want to activate it on my account when it arrives. They're completely separate accounts. Is this possible?

I have done this before with two lines on my account. Sprint did the upgrade for me but made me active the phone on the line that was due the upgrade and then they did an ESN swap after that. I am not sure if you can use the upgrade for another line and directly activate the new phone on a different line.

You have to activate it on his then do an esn swap afterwards you will need a 3rd phone to activate on one line during the swap since the accounts aren't linked. You can't leave an account without an active esn even for a few minutes.

If you do the upgrade online they send you the phone by mail. This way. You can just activate it on the other line without the hassle of doing esn swaps.

Won't work that way, it has to be activated on the eligible line first

It doesn't. However if there is a mail in rebate and the phone is transferred to the other line under 30 days from upgrade the rebate is lost.

Yeah definitely doesn't have to be on the eligible line first. I've done it beforet. Not sure about the rebate thing. Could be true.

If its a new line then yes, you can't add a line without having an ESN on it but activation is still not required.

Yea the only 2times I've ever ordered online I added a line to get a new contract/upgrade price and when i got the phone I called to activate it on my line and then put my old one on the new line but they made me activate the new phone on the new line then just did the esn swap as soon as it was active, only took about 15 mins which was actually probably faster than activating 2 phones "manually"

Get unlimited data on your VZW NEXUS

So if your like me and are/were constantly checking your data usage... don't worry b/c there is a trick to getting unlimited data! Its a very simple procedure if it works...
1st call vzw customer svc, then when the computer csr asks you what you want to do say "add a feature"
2nd it will direct you to a live agent then simply say you would like to add the "30$ Mobile hot spot feature"
this feature is for unlimited data plans so if you can get the CSR to add the feature your data plan will change to a unlimited plan! No joke I did this 2 days ago. And yes you will need to remove the 30$ mobile hot spot from your plan, and yes your new data plan will stay activated.
And remember if at first you don't succeed with the first CSR agent... try and try again, I got it on my second call in.
Good luck

They have the right to change it any time they want. Unless you signed a contract that specifically gives you the right to unlimited data on their network they can remove the unlimited data feature, especially considering you tricked their system to get it.

No, it is not. Although they reserve the right to refuse service to anyone they want (whether that be now, or at the end of the contract period).

It's not the CSR's fault. They're only adding the WiFi Hotspot feature as they're supposed to do.
You're removing the hotspot feature later on your own without the CSR's involvement.

Has anyone returned their t-mobile gs3?

Has anyone returned their t-mobile galaxy s3? Was there a restocking fee and how much? Cause I talked to t-mobile about the buy one get one free deal and asked if I could still get it even though I already bought the phone a week ago and they said no. I don't get why they said no when I could just return it and buy the galaxy s3 and get the deal..
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app

Sent from my SGH-T999
Usually it's a $50 restocking fee.
You'll have to purchase both phones and then you'll get a rebate for the other one, so just a heads up if you do it like this.
Also, I think it takes a min for your upgrade to appear again. Not sure when the sale ends, but this might give you problems.

Bought a Galaxy S III off Craigslist - Stuck in Demo Mode - Fixed it.

So, some n00b tried to pull a fast one on me and sell me a S3 that was stuck in demo mode. Didn't notice when I first got it because I was in a rush. Phone is absolutely in MINT condition, looks like it's been in a box forever. I'm thinking it was owned by a store to display in a transparent cube box thing? I don't know. I know it isn't stolen, though. It has all the paperwork and whatnot.
Anyway, it kept booting into demo mode, and it wasn't just an app, it was a bunch, it didn't allow USB Debugging or mounting, etc.
So, I tried to ODIN, same thing.. it formatted everything, but demo mode was still there.
I researched, seems no one has had this problem.
So, me not trying to panic, I thought logically. I thought it may be written in the NAND.
Therefore, a simple tick with ODIN 'NAND Erase All' did the trick.
Just wanted to share my story with you guys. This S3 will be my mom's phone as I have a white one.
Happy flashing!
how much did you bought it

It really sounds stolen, I can't think of why a device intended for purchase would ever have demo mode on, and paperwork is easy enough to fake. Although hopefully for your sake it's not! It's possible an employee stole it, so it's possible it won't ever be reported as stolen.
craigslist bs
Just recently had issues with few people on craigslist, in the past month two issue. Never once have I had an issue before with any trade or purchase before.
Issue one: traded my galaxy s2 for a galaxy nexus, everything looked to be in working order. Well it has never crossed my mine to check the "usb port" to ensure it charges properly. Ended up sending it in to samsung for repair, that was a nightmare its been nearly a month and I've had no updates on my phone plus it was suppose to be shipped out twice already yet it wasn't. Total debacle! Complaint has been issued and working to resolve it.
Issue 2: Purchased a galaxy note for $260 box and everything with it. I had planned to purchase and trade it for a galaxy s3, set up times to meet both people. Purchased the note that morning at 8:00am and then met up with the seller of the galaxy s3 by about 9am. We exchange phones and check them out the, note excellent condition and gs3 was as well. Seller was unable to test it on t-mobile since he didn't have sim coming from the gs3. Galaxy s3 was unlocked which I need since I'm on local carrier. Few days go buy and I am contacted by the person who I traded the note to. Well it has been blocked by t-mobile, (fraud).
I never worried about this since I'm on a local carrier and once the phone is unlocked I'm good to go. First time ever for this to happen, I have always been honest and open about my transactions I do on ebay & craigslist. Its buyer beware as usual,

It was most likely stolen by an associate from the store. Demo phones come with all the paperwork it just states demo on the box somewhere (usually but not always). So definitely stolen, there isn't any other way to get a demo.

Most likely a store demo that was stolen. 50/50 shot of it being blacklisted or not. Depends on if the store it was stolen from was lazy and just deactivated the sim that was in it and called it good or took it further and sent in the imei to get blocked.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2

People have been able to get the SIII from Sprint account services by suggesting that they were thinking of canceling their Sprint service. So to keep your business they are offering the SIII for. 96 to match Sam's club price. Some were able to get the price by saying a friend or family member just got it for that price. Sprint used to have an actual Retentions Dept but they got rid of that title and now account services sorta handles it.

I've been with AT&T for like 6 years with my parents. If i did get this phone pay the 100 down for the phone. Pay a couple months and decide I don't like their network. Could i stop my service but keep the phone and pay 20 a month for it?

Once you cancel your plan you have to pay the rest of the balance off.

Yes. Tmobile has no contract now. Wireless bill and phone bill are basically seperate.

So your telling me I can sign up for T-Mobile in May and get the s4 and cancel my my line with tmobile asap?
Doesn't make any sense at all.
I think what they meant was however much of the phone you still have left, you have to pay when you cancel so if you get it then turn around and cancel you'll have to pay the whole 480 at that time

Actually, if you cancel after even one month, you can still pay monthly for the phone itself until it's completely paid off or you can do the lump sum payment. Once it's paid off, you can get SIM unlock from T-Mobile so you can use the SG4 on other compatible carriers.

Doesn't make sense.
"Here. I'll give you this awesome phone for $100. I will collect an additional $480 from you over 2 years but I'll be a nice guy and not charge interest or ask that you scratch my back and buy my monthly service. "
I have read both scenarios for paying off rest of balance but haven't seen (or searched for) official answer.

You obviously are slow on current news. Tmobile changed their way of doing business and the seperate charge for phone cost is part of it.

That is right. However, that doesnt mean you are free from paying for your phone you just purchased. You will still be responsible for your phone and it will be locked to tmobile until you pay it off. So really, there is no merit to out of tmobile unless you are planning to unlock it urself which is illegal in usa right now.

No. I'm hip to the 'current news'. The current news didn't divulge any specific details (that I found) regarding T-Mobile being in the no interest loan business.

They've been in that business for a while now. The last 3 devices I got (even before the switch) were $99-down (usually with a MIR taking it to $0) and x a month for 3-6 months, or the same amount up front.
Now that the switch has happened, the # of months has gone up but that is really it..

Take a trip to international waters or out of the country and unlock it. Voila. Problem solved.

check that out .. might help some people understand Tmobiles Value Plan... basically you pay full price for the phone over time .. think they want to have people lose the grandfathered minutes per month plan.. its not for everyone.. think about it and good luck!
Actually the phone is $680 with taxes , you pay $150+$50 in taxes and pay $20 mo for 24 mos.
