My nexus reads as a unknown imei. I have no data or voice. Tried flashing stock through odin. Is there anyway to restore the imei like with the s3.

Don't know what odin is so sorry if that fact makes this a silly reply. Have you tried the stock images directly from Google? They are a full reset of the entire phone.

Flash stock images, make sure bootloader is locked. Take it to Verizon. When they ask what happen, play clueless customer and keep asking if you will loss your angry birds high scores.

People are saying this may be a pba problem.
Only PBA I know of is a bluetooth profile. What are you referring to?
I have the GSM Nexus so proceed with caution, but I'm wondering if they use the same types of files and folders. This is what I did to fix it when I accidentally wiped my IMEI:
cmstlist said:
Okay that was quick - solved it!
I believe the problem was that I'd restored the entire /data partition of my prior unit's backup including the /data/radio folder. Not a good idea! The solution was to copy the nv_data.bin and .md5 files from /factory and paste them to replace the incorrect ones in /data/radio. Now my IMEI is back!
Time to backup those files somewhere safe...

Don't try anything without backing up what you already have.
Just flash it to stock and play stupid. Then they will "factory data reset" it, because that fixes everything. Ha ha. No really, they'll give you a replacement.

if you can make a nandroid,
first off you need to download wugfresh's Gnex toolkit:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1766475
second you need to install all the drivers if you haven't already.
then you need to choose your model type
after you will need to click on back to stock what it does is it resets everything, assuming your phone ant boot up choose not booting
once that is done you can choose the factory image which can be downloaded from Googles factory images or you can use the options provided
after that you follow all the steps provided in the tool kit. the tool kit is mostly automatic so it wont take allot of time.
once that is done you are back in stock and have lost everything but don't fret because you can root it again using the same tool kit.
quick point your phone still has an unlocked boot loader so don't worry about that.
once youve completed the above steps you should be back to your good old galaxy nexus home screen
Verizon won't warranty it because the sticker under the battery has turned colors. No water damage I just touched one day when I took out the battery my hands were slightly wet prob not smart lol. I know this wasn't the cause it has been 5 months the only thing damaged was the sticker and warranty. Yes I have the right ROMs installed I'm not a newb. This is like the same issue with the s3 I tried to use the qpst method but I can't even get the hidden menu to show on the phone clueless as to why. I just want to use my gnex as a beater phone when I'm out.

Sounds promising going to try. I took apart the phone to check internals all looks good, except for the fact I broke antenna pinched with case. Ordered a new one incase this works.

So you're saying that you can get into Odin and the composer recognizes it? If that's the case, you can just flash the stock tar file in Odin. Sex tape has the files ready for download. I'll try to find a link and paste it in.

Yea i tried everything & the link but my phone dont turn on or anything so i couldnt put it on download mode it does sounds on the PC & red light turns on when plugged into the computer with no battery, i tried putting it on download mode connected to the PC because it does sounds when i do it but no luck im pretty sure is hard brick and theres nothing i could do unless i jtag but i still think is weird that it comes up on the odin v1.85 but it stays in the setting up connection for ever but im not going thru all that i just ordered the new HTC evo LTE for now till i get the note 3 or s4 ill just sell this on craigslist or something thanks for helping tho
yeah. From what you're describing, you hard bricks your phone. A JTAG repair should work on it. Search Google for it. Should be only $60.

Summed up:
So might be going to court here; which there probably gonna try and access my photos and text messages.
I have full encryption; so I'm trying to figure out if there is anyway they can access my phone.
The old phones the police use to put the password in wrong bunch of times then use the forgot password to request password through your gmail. Then subpoena Google to give the password or some crap like that.
Next. I have nandroid backups on my SD, I'm pretty sure since I had them when I encrypted they should be safe but do I have to protect my backups?
Its likely they wont know how to use your backups. Althoygh they should be encrypted depending on whether or not the were oresent when you encrypted. And whther or not you encrypted sd card (if they were stored there). As far as I know they can still get in by gmail. Sorry.
Sent from my SPH-L900 using Tapatalk 2
As far as texts go, they will just request them from your carrier. That's pretty standard as far as I know. They'll pull all records of sent/received texts and calls.

Or don't let them have it.

That last part is known as "destroying evidence", and there is such a thing as contempt of court and obstruction. OP, if they want the data off your phone then they'll get it... Or you'll spend tine in jail for obstruction and destroying evidence.

That ebay motherboard has everything working. All you would need to do is swapp out the motherboads.
(this is just connecting and disconnecting a few connectors)
its 150$ plus free shipping. its not bad and probably the cheapest if no one comes up with a way to root with out PC
I'll fill this out later after work with more detail but the simple question is how and why the hell does my 64gb keep becoming "damaged" and needing to be reformatted, I've done the .nomedia trick, the fat32 trick SNF everything. IMA keel it.
