So I make an app folder on the home screen to contain several apps. each time after I tap and open an app from the folder, the app willopen. After I close the app and return to the home screen, the folder remains open. I have to tap the back key or tap somewhere else to make the folder close. Is there a setting to make the folder close each time I tap and open an app in it?

It seems to be a know issue that happens to everyone (on the stock AT&T ROM at least).

Oic thx.
The only way I was ever able to get around this common annoyance that seems like it's easily fixed by the OEM... was to install 'Folder Locker' on my Note 1 and I also had it on my EVO 3D.

i did the phone hard reset but i con not se the camera akon on my phone
Where is "on my phone" (home screen? menu? all over the place?), what ROM are you using and when did the icon disappear?
A little more information could be really helpful to make other people help you in return
home menu all over i didnot se camera
i dont know wich ROM is in use .
Well try to explain it - give us details.
Sigh....
In your app listing, there's an app called "Camera"
When you see it, long press on it and you can now drag it to the appropriate place in your homescreen.
Don't panic. You merely deleted the app from your homescreen.

there is no camera in my app
Then long-press on your home screen, select app, and then look for a camera from there.
If it still fails, reboot your phone first, then retry
If that still fails, do a factory reset.
If it still doesn't work, send it back for repairs.
It is necessary to give information about ROM version.
It is easy)
Go to settings-> Phone Info (or something like that)
and, for sure, you will see there all the information needed)
I know there is a thread on turning off capacitive buttons. But, I would like to change the behavior of them. I have a Note 4 and the Tab S 8.4 I'm running Nova launcher on both of them. On the Note 4, when I press and hold the recent/open apps button (left of the home button) the settings menu comes up (both for the phone and Nova). But, this same behavior does not happen on the Tab S. How can I change that? I've tried looking in both the phone settings and the Nova settings and can't seem to find anything.
Thanks.
I have the same question I need the same buttons changed. I'm using apex launcher and in the settings you can set what you want that left button to but it ha no effect on tab.
Just to make you both aware im working on this for you right now and nearly finished possibly, it involves moddyfying a keymap file in system/usr but im having some issues saving changes as the file is in use presumably...so im trying to find a bootloader that will let me navigate to it to copy it first so i can edit it and copy it back...i say bootloader but i mean a filemanager in a bootloader, coz the aroma in philz touch is pants lol....will let you know how it goes

Right nearly there mate the hard work is done...ive succesfully as a test that i was modifying the correct file turned my app switcher button into a "menu" button...as in if im in uc browser and i press it it will open the menu of it....or
If im viewing settings and press the button it clicks the 3 dots in the corner...so just so i dont spend my time and it turns out i misunderstood...you want it so when you press the button the main system settings menu opens up?
My long term plan is once ive modified the file correctly ill upload a copy and tell you where exactly to copy it and how.
Please reply soon m8 laters
EDIT
In other words i think its become a "more options" button lol unless thats what you were after?
Im now on a new challange to make it so when you hold the center button you get the running apps instead of google now which would be nice, cheers for sending me on this road its an interesting one...although i accidently disabled all my buttons at one point so its a bumpy one...lucky i made a backup
Ok ive realised ive misread slightly what you asked, your wanting to change the long press action on the recent apps button and not the single tap option, im already half way there , theres a jar file in the system/framework folder that effects long press actions...its a mibe field of text though and im not having much luck so far, it would be good if we were in 4.4.4 as theres simple options for this .... been spending an hour comparing apparent entries you can change in other samsung phones to the entries on the same file in our tab s......but there are differences that make it harder in our file and i cant see the same entries...it might explain why nova launcher isnt doung the job....ill keep working away though

I am also having the exact same issue with my S5 and Tab S 8.4. Hope pdolton2000 will post a fix soon. I am running BlissPop ver. 2.0 (Lollipop) on my Tab S. I tested on Google Now Launcher and Launcher3, both works. FYI, I did set left hardware button to be the menu key via the Bliss setting. It does work on other apps. Just not on Nova Launcher. Nothing happens when I tap on the left hardware button. thx in advance.
Root your Tab and install xPosed Additions (after installing the xPosed Framework). Upgrade to the Pro edition and it does everything you want (or should!)
Hi all,
I uninstalled the secure folder because it is conflict with NOW launcher. the app drawer is not showing any app. Anyway to reinstall it?
Thanks.
Do you mean the secure folder? I don't think there is a way. They don't like each other. I've only been able to run either Google Now Launcher or My Secure folder. Uninstalling Secure folder should make the app drawer work properly. if it's not showing properly, you man need to reinstall the launcher.

Hi it is an add on app which is called secure folder. i uninstalled it and the app drawer for NOW launcher appears.
Check through your settings if there is an installation option. If not maybe the Samsung App Store?

If you want to re-install Secure Folders, go to Settings -> Lock Screen and security. Scroll down to where it says Secure Folders. This will put it back in.
However, Google Now Launcher will stop working. If you want to put back the TouchWiz, you can either uninstall Google Now, or go to Settings -> Applications. Select Default Applications in the upper right. Near the bottom is Home Screen, select that and change it back to TouchWiz.
Thanks all. Either now or secure. Sad

angka8, have you tried Nova Launcher? You can get it to look pretty much like Google Now if you want. It's pretty customizable. The only think you can't get is Swipe Left for Google now. You can have it activate other ways. Some people have it set when you swipe up. I have mine to activate when I press the Home button on the home screen. I'm a huge fan of Google Now, but was Nova was recommended to me. It looks exactly the same and Secure Folder works with it.
Strange, both are working fine together for me. I have no problem accessing my app drawer.

I noticed that this phone has a "Frequently Used" category when using the Stock File Manager. Is there any way to turn this feature off? I don't like it taking up screen space especially when I already know I use those folders frequently.
Anyone? :crying:
It does go away if you use the grill layout for the folders, that's the only method I know of.
Delete. Was thinking something else.

But if I delete the folder, I lose it. Not trying to delete the folder, just don't need that useless Frequently Used category.

[emoji38] delete the post. I misunderstood and was thinking of my tablet file manager, not G7. I dont have a solution.
Too much multitasking for me.

If you select 3 buttons in the upper right corner and then select view as, 2 options pop up, list and grid. If you select grid, the frequently used folder is no longer shown.

I know you did but sometimes people gotta be told the same by several different people before they get it. ?
I've been wracking my brain over this one. When I install new apps, they aren't sorted in alphabetical order, they're just thrown on the end of a list. When I uninstall apps, the blank space stays there until I manually tell it to sort things alphabetically. I've never seen this on an Android phone, but there must be an option for things to be sorted automatically. It seems quite frankly dumb that they would remove that feature and relegate it to a 3rd party app instead.

If you are using Home without app tray, long press on any open area and when you see the red X next to the icon, you can move the apps in and out of folders at will. When you are done, hit home. If you are using Home with an app tray, open app tray, hit the three dot menu in the top right and select Arrange Apps, and move apps a will, when completed, hi the check mark in the top right and your good to go. :good:

There's a lot of complaining about this. I see it both ways, and think auto-arrange should be an option, not default behavior.
I've spent the last week slowly installing apps and arranging my home screen. I do a lot of multitasking, and having the last installed app at the end really helped me find that app I just installed an hour ago before I got that phone call, whose name I forgot and am very happy it's not automatically burried with the rest.
My workflow has been to install the app, then drag it into the most appropriate home screen folder. It's really nice to quickly check the end of the drawer for non-alphabetical new additions, drag them to the correct folders, then finally manually toggle the re-sorting. Once I check the end of the drawer and see it's alphabetical, I know I'm totally organized.
Everybody's different. This is one 'bug' that I kinda prefer.
