Anyone know how to reverse tether the note 2? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

Is there a way to get my data FROM my PC as opposed to providing data to my PC?
I fly sometimes and there is in flight internet. Yes I can connect from my device but them I have to disconnect my computer. Instead I want to be able to plug in my USB and get the data from the PC. anyone know how to do this?
When I had and HD2 there was a great connectivity app in wm6.5 that allowed WiFi in and wifi or Bluetooth tether out, or USB out. Etc. Anyone know of such an app?

I'e been trying to get reverse tether working on the our phones and i've tried a bunch of different apps on the market, and searched around but i cannot seem to get it working.
Has anyone have any luck on getting reverse tether working via or getting the S2 to connect to ad-hoc wifi networks?
take care
edit:
forgot to add that i'm running AOKP jellybean build 1 which i'd like to add is an awesome rom
What the hell is reverse tether?
Either you use your phone as a hotspot or your phone connects to a router.
there are software for the PC to make your PC / Laptop WiFi act as a relay, so you can get internet via your laptop WiFi hot spot

He's talking about having your phone plugged into your computer and getting the internet that your computer is using to function as the internet on your device.
my windows mobile phone did this by default. It's pretty handy when you only have an Ethernet device with no router.

I believe there was an app on the market which allowed this to happen.
But OP have you tried bridging your internet connection to your wireless card on your computer then creating an ad-hoc network and connecting your phone to that? If set up properly it should work. That is if your computer has wireless nic.

thanks for the replies.
I'm on a linux based computer so those windows programs will not work.
I've tried the ad hoc method however, the phone doesn't seem to see the ad hoc.
I've read in few places that android does not support connecting to ad hoc but then i've also read that aokp does support so i'm kinda confused

There is a tweak you have to do to get android to recognize the ad hoc network. I'll try to search for it.

Pc work off phones wifi via usb?

So basically what I want to do is this. I'm currently in a situation where the hard internet line to my pc doesn't work but the WiFi does. Is there any way I could connect my phone to my pc with usb and have it tether the WiFi connection? I know I could use data, but I only have a gig so would like to avoid that. Tried searching around but not really sure to look for.
Thanks!

You can try to disable data on your phone to be sure it won't use your data and try to tether the WiFi. I have no idea if it will work

Try clockworkmod tether manger program. It uses a USB connection to of and a gateway system to connect to it. If the internet connection going to the phone is WiFi it should work. You do have to install the gateway program to your computer though but its a small program

How can I link my SG3 to my router?

I've put my wife's SG3 on a tether plan and it's working great. What I need to do is connect her phone to my home router (which is NOT connected to the internet) so we can access our wireless printers and the internet at the same time.
Phone is stock AT&T - no root.
Can anyone help?

Couldn't you just use your phone as a router? You can connect up to 5 devices I believe when tethering is active.

The phone can act as an access point but AFAIK it can't act as a router. I need ro access my wireless printers. Right now I can access the phone but I have to switch over to my home network to access the printers. This is a real pain.

There are apps for printing. I use cloud print. Works nicely

I really appreciate your trying to help but I've already considered these options; they won't work for my situation. I need someone who can answer my original question.

Wouldn't you be able to print via laptop if everything is linked up to the phone? As far as I see it, there's no way to hook it a router that uses a ethernet cord.

using wifi to share wifi

I am staying at a hotel where
1. My mobile data plan doesn't work (another country)
2. I paid 30 to have one device (my note II) get internet
3. I learned that I cannot run hotspot and wifi at the same time
How can I share my internet with other devices? Can thos even be done?
Thanks
Q

Thank you
What app can I use for bluetooth tethering? And does the other device require an app as well?

I honestly don't know. I've never used it

Bluetooth tethering is a setting on the rom you are using. It cannot be enabled via app. Its been a while since I messed with my Bluetooth tethering but I can tell you it works very well. I don't have a link handy.
The main advantage is it is very low power. The connection is very seamless as well.

By rom, are you referring to a rooted phone? If so, I don't have a rooted phone. I guess I will consider this for my next trip.
Thanks
Q
If you get internet on your one device then your easiest option is to get internet on your laptop and then create a hotspot on your laptop.
If your laptop is running windows 7 then you can follow the instructions from here.

How to set up a WiFi hotspot

Hi
Can anybody steer me in the right direction. I have a nx7 2013 I want to connect it to a WiFi network but it won't connect, just goes from connecting to saved, help desk won't help, so I thought if I can get my phone to connect to WiFi network I can then connect my tablet to network through phone by setting up WiFi hotspot ( think this is right). I have never set up a WiFi hotspot so am a newbie at this can anybody help or know where there are some simple instructions. Thanks

As far as hotspot goes, I don't think you can get it through wifi. It has to come from your cellular data. Just be aware that you will be using your phone data. Do you need directions to set up hotspot? It depends on your device and your carrier. On GP devices, it's under wireless and networks>more. It should be somewhere in network/wireless settings. When you activate it, your device will generate an ssid and a passcode to use for connecting devices.
However, your tab will use its WiFi to connect to the phone's hotspot so if that works, I'd say that you either typed in the wrong security code on your N7, or your router needs a reboot-even if every other device connects to it.

Hi thanks, the WiFi network im trying to connect to I have no control over or access to router etc. I thought / hoped I could connect phone to WiFi network then connect tablet to phone so tablet is connecting to WiFi network through phone, is this possible.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Free mobile app
As I stated, I don't think that's possible as the hotspot is run through the phone's modem. Have you tried connecting to a public wifi such as Starbuck's, McDonald's, your grocery store or other?

I've found that it happens--possibly ip shuffle--which is why I suggested rebooting router. I'm assuming other devices (your phone, in particular) are successfully connecting to this wifi.

Yeah other things connect just my tablet which is the one thing I want to connect, looks like I'm stuck as unable to reboot router and the companies help desk are no help, thanks anyway for your help.
