fpse xperia play question - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i have a psone game (marvel vs cap) 7z.ecm file
i drag it to the unecm file (pakkiso) and i want it to change to a bin file but it changes it to 7z file not a bin.
i've looked everywhere and i'm sorry i'm a beginner at this but what am i doing wrong.
appreciate the help.

The game should be compressed inside the 7z file.

Yeh just unzip the 7z file somtimes you have to unzip the files twice

i tried to unzip these and it didn't work. any suggestions?
Extract .ecm Format
Hey Man, To Extract Files .ecm, you need drag file to unecm.exe app,
and according to that file it will create a .7 z file and give just starting extract using 7zip or winrar.
i've got .7z file, .rar and .rar.ecm files...which one do i use can make my game to work? i haven't been able to get them to convert to .bin or files to work. help.
Next step?
I get a similar problem. I know my emulator and BIOS work 'cause I've already played RE3 without any problem, though I can't remember how I got the ISO file from 7Zip. Now I downloaded MGS, and when I unzip the .7z I get everything in parts. These include an image file, .ccd, .cue and .sub for each of the disc of the game. What do from there?

Well if you load one of them it actually works I think the .cue but I also don't know how to put them all as one iso so if someone could help with that it'd be great

The image file works, I get to the start menu but no further...
download zarchiver from play store and use the program to extract the teken. 7z file
you will end up with a. bin or. img file and that is the file fpse will recognise.
You need to unzip the one file you download and it should show up as a few different files. Put them all on your sd card, but only load the .img or .iso (The largest file).
Alternatively now you can reinstall fpse but this time choose the "easy" menu instead of advanced, and it will show you covers of autodetected games so you don't have to select specific files.

Ez7z is an easy-to-use archiver that allows users to perform a number of tasks:
Expand 7z, bzip2, gz, rar, tar, and zip files.
Shrink files into 7z, bzip2, gz, tar, and zip formats.
View the contents of an archive without opening it.
Delete files from an archive without opening it.
Create, verify, and repair par2 files.
Process multiple files with ease.
I haven't used this before but I think I'll try it out the next time I'm on my Mac.

[Q] how do i extract the contents of 4.0.2.A.42.ftf?

how do i extract the contents of 4.0.2.A.42.ftf so that i can load it into custom rom creator studio and edit this stock rom/firmware to my liking? i wish to build my own rom from scratch and i want to base it from a stock rom of my phone (xperia play r800i). can anyone point me into this development/modding of roms?
Here are what i need to do:
1. removed bloatware stuff that i think is really bloatware for me
2. tweak the build.prop, init.d, sysctl.conf files, etc.
3. have my own home launcher
4. edit system.ui or the main looks of my android phone
5. incorporate auto-rooting feature to my rom
6. adding my own battery saving techniques to this rom through undervolting, governors and io schedulers.
If there is a thread on this topic which is universal for all android phones please give me a link. thanks. I have tested different roms for my xperia play and I decided that the best thing now for me is to be a rom developer as well. I already have Eclipse, JDK and Android SDK, Flashtool, etc. to begin with. What else do i need? thanks
I can't really help, but for #6 you'll need to make a kernel

You can extract the .sin files from the .ftf with an archiving program like 7zip or Winrar, then user sin2img to convert the data and system .sin files to a readable .img format. Then edit the files from there

[Q] Grand Theft Auto III Handling.cfg

I have version 1.4 of GTA III installed on my XPeria Play but on the data folder there is only the save files now, the audio, cfg files and the rest are no longer on the sdcard/andriod/com.rockstar.gta3/files/GTA3/data folder, to be precise in the folder sdcard/andriod/com.rockstar.gta3/files/GTA3/ there is only the save files and nothing else. Any one has any idea on were these files are located with this version of GTA III?
If I'm not mistaken didn't that version become .obb format? I have 1.3 installed it still hase the files on sd card, if it is. Obb format, then just transfer the obb file over to a computer rename it from. .obb format to zip format then extract to a folder then modify and heres where its tricky for vice city modding .obb files we keep the unzipped. Obb file on the folder in the data part of android folder on our sd card so you would put the unzipped modified Obb file on sdcard/android/data/ com.rockstar.gta3
Then rezip the modified obb and place it in the sdcard/data/obb/ com.rockstar.gta3 folder or what ever its named rename the obb file from zip format to obb format then load game if modifed and works the ccame should load and the mods should take place, like I can have the world trade center in gta vc but the txd files aee hidden with no access so its only tan building with no color to them or definition

Thanks! (I hit the thanks button also) Indeed GTA 3 ver 1.4 uses the OBB that is the same as a Zip file. Time to have more fun messing around with the game that is already a lot of fun to mess around in. :silly:

I Copied the OBB to My PC
Renamed it from OBB to ZIP
Extracted the contents
Modified the handling.cfg
Added them with no compression again to the ZIP file
Renamed ZIP to OBB
Copied back to my phone
Started GTA 3
It wanted to download the OBB again :crying:
Replaced the modified OBB with the original OBB and GTA 3 worked again.

Did you place the uncompressed zip(all the folders them sefls) in sdcard/android/data/com.rockstargames.gta3 folder while keeping your original obb. File in the sdcard/android/obb/com.rockstargames/GTA3 FOLDER. In the obb section?

Thanks! (hit the thanks button) I copied over the extracted obb files to sdcard/Android/data/com.rockstar.gta3/files/GTA3 folder with the modified handling.cfg (to test) and it worked! I tested with a modified handling for the taxi and it was really fast and it sent anything on wheels that it hit flying. :highfive:

[Q] Open .face files on pc

Hello everyone, I would like to know if it's possible to open files with .face extension on a PC with Win or OSX.I tried unsuccessfully with xn viewer.
Try renaming to .zip and use 7Zip , Winzil or WinRar to open the file.

If you use 7Zip, you don't even have to rename it. It's that cool of a program that it'll let you extract anything that is extractable simply by right clicking on it.
Thanks for the tip.I can extract the files but I was hoping to see immediately the animated clock.Maybe one day there will be a program for PC similar to Facer in order to edit faces for the smartwatch.
Someone once mentioned a program that did exactly that. I can't remember what it's called now, but it was some ambitious name for the software.
Watchface-Studio
Thank you for the suggestion LazyT !!.
rename the .face to .zip then you can extract the info reverse step to make back to a .face and install Note make sure to turn off the "Hide extensions for known file type" in Folder view options..
Or use my program
