Hello all,
I have an issue with my commuter case for my s3. Whenever I try to press the volume up or down, the button seems to miss. If I press it straight in it won't change the volume, but if I push the rubber towards the front of the case a bit, it works fine. Does anyone have a solution to this?

is it in place correctly.. i heard u have to massage the rubber into place in order to have aligned correctly. maybe the silicone stretched and doesnt align like it should. common issue with otterbox cases
I am having that problem with my power button. On top of that, the button is now tearing off. Great case, but the silicone does not hold up as well as I thought it would. And I have only had the case less than 7 months. Bad part is I purchased it from a shop in CT about 2 and a half hours from me. My suggestion is to not take it off and on so much. Any way, good luck.

Only issue I have with this case is the power button is hard to press. I have tried to use the standard and extended battery and still have issues with it. The case itself is very rigid however making it a solid choice compared to the slightly looser feel of the Diztronic (Which I'm using right now). I would say if you can get past the power button, the case is a solid choice.

LTE here, That's good to hear though that it does loosen up over time. I just could not take the hassle of pressing the power button like that until it did though.
ahh well
I am thinking about getting this case.. but i am not sure how it fits the gsm version :/

This is the one problem I have with this case as well. The way I end up holding my hand to get good leverage to push the power button in causes me to often also hit the volume rocker with the other side of my hand. Other than that, great case.

Hey guys so I don't know if anyone else has had this problem but my volume buttons are a bit loose and they rattle if I shake the phone. I tried tightening the screws on the back but it didn't do much. Is there any trick to make then fit better or just stop raddling?
Sent from my SGH-I747M using xda premium
Stop thinking about them is the best option. Unless they fall off or get compacted I wouldn't worry about them.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 2
yea... tightening the screws on the back of the phone would probably do little more than run the risk of stripping the threads or something. Generally, there isn't anything holding these types of buttons in place aside from the overall design of the phone being done to have them nicely seated in place. Chances of anything happening just because of wiggling buttons are slim, IMHO.
Buy an iPhone.
Haha sorry I had too

I had the same problem, you can actually pop out the volume button pretty easily by using your nail and pulling. All that's holding it in is a rubber piece under the volume button. Once I had it out I tried to realign the rubber piece on the volume rocker and popped it back into the phone. Now it no longer rattles.

I tried to do this... one question... what kind of nails do you have?!
Sent from my SGH-I747M using xda premium
Lol short ones. Try using a credit card. You can't break it because its just rubber holding it in.

This should be covered under warranty, have you contacted the reseller.
No I haven't. What do you think ATT would do?

By the volume buttons the bezel creaks, and the power button is creaky and cheap.
It's driving me INSANE.
I don't even think I can get an exchange because I'm rooted and I have Jedi flashed...
Anyone else going crazy from these little issues, or found a fix?
OCD much?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using xda app-developers app
Yes, because now when I discovered the creaks, I keep checking to see if they went away...lol.
Same small problem here too. Just slap a case that covers the volume and power button. It helps with the creaks. Nothing is perfect. U might get one that buttons are fine but there will be something else that will get to u. If buttons work and are not about to fall off, enjoy the phone.

Eh, I'm a folio case user. I have yet to find a folio that covers them up. Any suggestions?
seidio active case. First case I got the silicone was a bit loose. But exchange case was perfect. It covers the volume and power button. Gives a nice click to it cause case is a bit raised. It it looks awesome too. Otterbox case also covers the buttons but its too thick.

How long have you had this creaking problem. I just got my note 2 2 days ago although I put a case on it while I was in the at&t store I have taken it off to check after reading this post

Eh I've had creaking since 2 days after buying it. It went straight in a case too.

I haven't noticed any creaking on my Note II since I've gotten it -- mind you it has only been a few days, but I've been using it a fair amount and I'm pretty good at noticing these things (curse you, OCD!)
Mine creaks too. Drives me nuts also! I shut it up temporarily by using a bit of scotch tape inside the panel but that quit working. The samsung flip case panel has eliminated the creaking fwiw but it would be nice to have the original flat panel shut up too.

I dont have a creak. But I have light leak coming from the left side of the home button. If it's not one thing it's another.

Oh, that would drive me nuts! little bit of creaking in the back cover but I have to mess with it to hear it so I am not going to complain too much :silly:
My power button is sometimes creaky. Sometimes it doesn't seem to click. Sometimes it seems to be stuck pressed in.
Changes every day.

Somehow, my home button feels lose. When rubbing my finger over it, it feels playful. I remember holding the demo at the store and it was far tighter than on my phone. Anyone else having this issue?

I have two S4s (I accidentally ordered 2). The first one I opened had the same problem on the home button that you are talking about. The 2nd one I have has a firm button with no play. I am returning the original one as it is definitely defective.
Have the same issue on my international S4... It's so annoying but i don't want to return it for that reason
I have claimed for a replacement because of this. When I touch the home button it made a cracking noise. I currently use an app called Swipe home button and it works much better as I dont have to press the home button each time

Hey guys,
Does anyone know if there are clear stickers to put on top of the wake button because it is too flush with body
Thanx
The power button doubles as the IR blaster... So I personally wouldn't cover it unless you don't care about that functionality.
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 2
Good question and I agree it's too flush.
...yeah the power is also ir but there's been several cases that include a clear button over the power button with no loss of performance.
Just like a remote...it's got. Piece of plastic over it...
Edit:: I say several...more like a couple but still...
