Import Sim Contacts doesnt work :(

Hi Peeps,
im struggling to view my sim contacts. I know for a fact that all my contacts are saved to my sim so why wont WP7 allow me to import them?
The option is greyed out. its seriously annoying me...
There must be a way? why is it not working?
thanks
my HD7 is unlocked and i'm using a T-Mobile sim, do you think this is the reason why i cant import my sim contacts? it cant read my sim or something?
Try use your old phone to synch them with outlook, then re-import them into your new phone

Import worked fine for me on a HD7 - very odd.
Thats very strange.
You tried syncing them with other methods for example outlook?
im going to try it through GMAIL.
really annoyed though... import sim contacts is greyed out
I copied my old contacts from my Blackstone to SIM and then I was able to import from SIM to phone on my Omnia :/ Very odd.
Had some problem, now know why.
I had the same thing happen to me. I would hit the import sim contacts button, it would wurr for a moment then gray out, but no contacts came over. Then I switched sim cards and it worked the very first time. When I examined the two sim cards I realized that one was older and had a slightly larger gold contact area. The older one didn't sync but the newer, narrower one did. If you have an older sim take it into a t-mo store, tell them it's not working right with your phone, get a new one, and have them sync the contacts over to the new sim for you. It should work fine in your phone after that. Enjoy.
I´m also having the same problem. I also tried with a reset and also hard reset (Press Vol+ and Vol- while starting) Sim was copied once( with only ahand full of contacts, but second time with all nearly 500 contacts the import sim button was also grey and dead! Please help!
Thanks! OliRom

Can't export contact to SIM card

Hi guys, I've a problem, I can't export contacts from phone to SIM card.
I have even tried installing other apps (Contact2Sim, Copy to Sim card, Sim2Phone) but do not work.
I have an HTC Desire Z with Andromadus ROM.
some roms don't allow for this others do, either find a different way to sync or move to another rom. maybe someone else can shed some light on this better as I haven't stored contacts on my sim since nokia days
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda premium
I too was looking to store a contact on my SIM card, but all my phone allowed for me to do was to import contacts off the SIM card instead of the other way around.
I just did some searching of this and it may be based on the device rather than the ROM. Phone manufacturers are maybe phasing out the saving of contacts to the SIM card, especially on smartphones, as these devices have a persistent connection to the internet and an offsite location where the contacts are actually stored. It does make sense when you think about it.
In the end I just created a new contact and saved it on my Google account.

[Q] editing contacts One V

A friend just got a One V from Virgin and she has asked me to sort out her contacts. I have looked at it and there is a + sign in the edit section of contacts but it is faded out and you can't add multiple numbers for a contact. I set up her samsung phone before with a custom ROM and contacts worked just fine.
Has anyone heard of this happening before? Is it something that is just part of the HTC One V package that Virgin has bought or is there something obvious that I am missing? I also have my own android phone (blade) running CM7 and the contacts works just fine in that.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
eph
Just an idea: could it be that your friend stored the contact at the SIM card (not in the phone storage)?
thanks..
Yup, silly me. Never thought of checking whether she had installed the contacts to the phone or the sim. Once on the phone everything worked fine.
Much appreciated.

Rom that can read SIM Contacts

I am on a DHD. I will need my phone to be able to read and write contacts to the sim card for. So far, i've tried CM 7.2 and IceColdSandwich and both of them are not able to read/write contacts to sim.
I've also tried googling around and there doesn't seems to have any solution for it. Most of the solution centers around syncing the contacts to google which is not acceptable because I need the contacts synced to my sim card to transfer to another non-camera phone, which unfortunately has no way of connecting to a laptop or the network.
On the old stock rom, i had no issue running apps like contacts2sim to sync the contacts. But ever since I rooted the phone, I wasn't able to do so anymore.
Does anyone knows of a rom that can allow me to transfer contacts from phone to sim and vice versa?
CM7.2 actually has this feature.
Simply click on the menu and then choose the "Import/Export" option to transfer from/to your SIM card.
I don't know for any ICS based rom ...
EDIT: but it's true that directly read the SIM contacts is not possible, you have to import/export them.
relentles, I have same problem. Any sense based rom will read the sim card, but not ASOP ICS rom.
Have you tried the VT infinity rom (sense4) ?
as far as i remember, it has that option...
AOSP roms are not built to use the old way of reading contacts. While a few have the ability to import from the Sim card this option is being fazed out a little more with each update.

[Q] Import SIM contacts in CM?

Hello Dear members.
I have a question that still isn't solved.
I would like to import my sim contacts in CM9 and this feature doesn't work. (CM7.2 has the same problem)
I know that I can sync my contacts with google but I sometimes have to use an old nokia N5000 which isn't a smartphone.
New contacts are lost and I don't really want to import/export each time I switch phone. The same issue when changing ROM.
I tried many apps on google play but none can detect my SIM card (SFR in France)
Do you have a better app or any tip to fix that issue? CM devs don't care about that basic feature, it is really surprising...
Don't be mistaken, I do not blame them, their work is fantastic but I am used to have all my contacts on SIM
Have a nice day,
y0da
Try to make a backup with contacts and save to sdcard.
If i helped you,click "thank's" button.Have a nice night.
This was already mentioned in my post.
I would like to find another way and make CM able to read my SIM card
