I have just changed dpi from 240 to 200 with "DPI Density Changer". Next restart phone doesn't open. So i have to reinstall the Rom. How can i change DPI? Thank you.
I usually do it by editing the build.prop with a text editor. I don't know what the app you used does, but if it just modifies build.prop I don't know what else to try.

I too tried to change DPI to my DHD mounting jellytime r28. I was following this guide to mod the lockscreen: [How-To] Octo lock layout for any CM Based Rom
I changed the DPI manually by editing the build.prop and I got the same imparatore's result, phone semi-bricked in bootloop.
Then I found this thread [solved]soft-Brick phone after LCD dpi changes ....but it didn't solve the question, how can I change the DPI without screwing the rom up?
The problem Is solved in pack man ROM. Try it.

Thanks muikkuman! The ROM looks very good, but before flashing it I'd like to check the md5 hash ...do you know where can I find it?

Hello everyone!
I have tried and tried to customize framework-res.apk, and what a nightmare!! I made a script that works all fine when using Defrost 2.9a and 2.5, but if i try Cyanogenmod or Defrost 3.0, i get force close. When I modify both xml and images.
What am I doing wrong?
Bestest of best regards,
Jonas Hald

As i get it, that doesnt work when I edit the xml, then it has to be recompiled?
Sure
If u change the code it has to be Recompiled ;-)

Yeah, so I do
But i get force close in cyanogen and DF 3.0 - but the Circle Mod online framework modifier can do it, without force close.
Are you sure its not semi-edit the files? I think there are just various versions of the framework.

Semi-edit the files?
So i'm trying to edit the status bar background.png file. I've made a copy of the framework, changed it to zip, replaced file, changed back to apk. But the systems folder is read only. how do i go about changing it to 'write' so I can replace the frameworks???
Also, if my background is transparent, do i also need to change something in the xml if I want the new background to be a solid color
So I am running 4.1.1 and the mod I like doesnt work with it so I was wondering how do you change the DPI manually, Which xml's do change? are there any guides I could follow?

Up. I'd like to know too.
Despite many searches, I didn't find any mod working on JB rooted stock rom.
I just want reduced size for navbar, nothing else (buttons appareance, colors etc... are fine to me in stock state).
Thank you !
bump.
i have copied my framework res and system ui apks and extracted them. ive briefly looked over the xmls that were related to navbar but i honestly have no idea what to edit, or even if thats what needs to be done.
there are plenty of mods made for the rom i use (minco) but they all seem to be bundled with fastglow or the ics blue font for the date/time in the notification shade. i dont want either of those mods.
and bump again.
Go into the build.prop and change it that way no?

Just a suggestion, flash androidME and use the navbar mod. It's a custom Rom without any mod built-in. Meaning stock like.
You can also try aokp nightly, which has built in option to reduce navbar
Hey guys, I'm not sure if this is the right spot, but if not can a mod please move it.
Anyway I want to add a notification background to my systemUI, and/or change the statusbar color. I know what to change but I do not know how to compile APKs, so if there is anyone out there who would be willing to do it for me it would be great, I can send you all my files!
Thank you so much in advance!

It's possible, but you would need to flash a custom ROM that supports UI customization to do this.
Swap out images with the same file name using 7 zip but don't extract the ROM
Do I use 7zip on my Pc or phone?

Swapping out the PNG's only works on the computer I've tried on the phone but no dice. Again, make sure you do not extract the ROM, or changing the images will not work!
Correction: NinjaMorph in the Google Play store can alter images from the phone, though its a little bit harder to use in my opinion.

Okay, so I have downloaded Ninjamorph, and I somehow can not find the .png for the notification background for 4.1.1. I'm on the stock ROM, Do you happen to know what the file name is?

I believe that is a hex value in one of the xml files. you would need to decompile and edit the xml to allow custom png images as the background.

Yeah, it requires a bit more work. I am looking for the thread where I found the info, but xda search is down. I will link as soon as I find it.

I know it's in the build prop file, but is there a way to change the DPI without root since we don't have root? I miss having smaller icons on my phone.

Hi
I am trying to install a custom Rom (so that it would render sinhala)
I copied the ttf file to system/fonts and added the entries to fallback fonts xml as well. This method worked well in kitkat roms. How ever after upgrading to lollipop with revolution HD ROM this no longer works.
Has anything changed in lollipop on how custom fonts are added?
Any help would be highly appreciated.
Thanks

Thanks for the help. However I was unable to find "Sinhala" font with an APK. Good news is I was able to solve the issue. Lollipop has changed the default fallback_font.xml and there's a new file called fonts.xml. I was able to render Sinhala fonts perfectly after modifying both fallback_fonts.xml and fonts.xml.
Thanks again for your time.

Hi, That's great news.
This is a very frustrating thing on HTC for me. I had an LG G2 before and never had a problem rendering other character sets.
My M8 is not rooted. Could you explain in steps how you solved this please?
