Maybe you just can't "see" the purchases. I have had no problem re-installing previously installed/purchased apps.

i am in your exact situation (purchase history start at the 24th agoust 2012 but i am on wp since 24 ago 2011!!!!!! and one year of apps installed are gone included all the pay apps i get since now)

I think you are lucky but you have to check daily since it's something that just started and it's moving as a wave. Your apps might be there today but tomorrow????

i think i know what causes this bug. the purchase history on windowsphone.com in my case only from 22.09.2012 till today. so i miss all apps from june 2011 till 22.09.2012! and that causes the paid apps to be gone, not all paid apps, only the ones downloaded for free which normally cost before and after these free days. i wrote microsoft but nobody has answered yet. they send me a link to chat with them but the link is broken it says "windows live id is some thing bla bla bla..." so i cant access the chat to tell them what is going on. but this is a serious bug. no matter if it is paid app or the purchase history, they cant do this to us.
offcourse in my case those apps are get by free in different sale&promo offers by the devs on the store
but i want them back...

I am also having the same problem! It's only showing the apps that I have purchased/downloaded since October 2012. Except it shows one app that I purchased on 5/27/12 which is the XDA app. Hopefully they get this problem figured out and very soon.

Having similar issues here. Just tried to re-download ilomilo (which I've owned since WP7 launch-day), and it's asking me to purchase it again. wtf?
i dont think they gonna fix this. i think they deleted our data purposely. they want that we pay for the apps, and they dont want that we store all our app and reinstall later to use it. till today the chat link of the microsoft service center is broken, it says something with the windows live id is not right...
for me all my apps are gone from 2 years it seems though they left after I did som cleaning on my account and removed the phone they were first purchased from ms credited me 35 bucks but says they have to escalate it to get the 150 bucks I asked them for.so if you have old phones listed there that your not using do not remove them he also said if you change the live id that it could lose them in the migration
I'm really getting tired of this. MS support saod I should wait but for how long? Why is it that they are not coming out to tell us anything.....in a press release or something to make people aware of this issue??

I had the same problem when I changed the language from French to English on my Microsoft account (not on the phone, the one for everything: live, msdn, xbox, credit on the web). When I went back to French, all the purchase history came back.
Last Sunday I contacted Microsoft by Chat on "www.windowsphone.com" (it pretty amazed me to get live support so easily) and they told me this is a known issue and that they are going to fix it. They also told me this is going to take a week to be fixed.
When they fix this, they'll merge the new and the old list of apps.
Polish microsoft wrote to me that this is know problem which touch part of people who changed their WP7 phones to WP8 and doing everything to solve this problem. I didn't change my phone to WP8 but I installed Dynamics 2.0 (7.8) maybe this is the reason of our problems?

From today again I can install part of my old, purchased apps starting from 02.2012. Not all installed in period 02.2012 to today are visible in purchase history, but few of them I can install.

finally
im going to see if something is missing from my purchase history but at a first look it seems all right (recently reinstalled apps appear purchased on 24 november 2012, my last flash day, so the History is gone... better then nothing!)
ok my purchase history before sept 2012 are gone, but i am able to reinstall the apps purchasede before that date (ie portals 2d and monster up adventures arent visible in the history but i can reinstall them anyway)

The problem has been fixed. You can redownload all your paid apps and list all your old purchase on "windowsphone.com".
I can see all my history, starting from Nov 2011, when I took my Titan.

I think so, since at that point you can change your phone "ID", so the market thinks it is a nexus/G1/X10 etc etc.
If there si a phone with full access to the market, you change your ID to that one et voilá...
how about changing from a T-Mobile ROM to a generic one?
I'm have a desire with the same issue, running the latest generic firmware. I have to source apps I can't find on the market place elsewhere. There really needs to be more urgency put on the finger printing process by Google!

Seriously though. This is bad. The iphone/pod does so well because of the apps. Microsoft are doing so badly because of the apps. Google dont shoot yourself in the foot.
Its sad as I told my mate today that the android just lacks big named titles then I go on cryket and there are some cool titles Gameloft & EA but not found on the marketplace when I search.
Really is a pity we have to wait so long.

Knowing HTC they probably won't release many updates for the Desire anyway, unless they've realised that in order to sell more units they need to provide fixes!

This guy is making work of the market problem. At least for the Legend. So let's hope this will also solve the problem for the Desire.
Otherwise we have to wait for root acces and alter the build.prop file ourselves.

As far as I can gather, he says nothing specifically about the market problem, he's just saying an OTA is underway for the Legend that should fix that phone's specific problems getting apps that need access to the camera.
He says nothing about the missing protected apps, and nothing about the Desire either.
Just got off the phone to HTC:
Apparently there is a ROM update to fix this in the works which will be released in "the next four weeks". She was quite adamant that it wasn't just a Google thing...
I gave her a list of apps that I couldn't download and she said she'd pass it on.
She did say that the more people that call up and report this the better. It then lets HTC know how much pain its causing.
Get calling!
Oh boy ... 4 weeks??? I hope HTC will roll out a very good list of patches!
If it will include "Flash 10.1" with hardware acceleration, then I will forgive them (HTC and Google)

But I have one of the first T-mobile Desire's bought direct from T-mobile (1.15.110.11) and I still can't see protected apps like Tapatalk, Google Earth, etc. So the problem isn't restricted to unbranded phones as your article suggests.

There had been reports that it works on SOME branded Desires
and your thread wasn't the first written about this issue, it was raised a few days before you did it just wasnt published until now the original thread I came across only mentioned the Desire

I am also on mango and I get this too.
It happens to everyone on mango beta.
To get around it (to get your free apps) just go to the marketplace search and type "Orange UK" and it will give you the same list as the "Orange Selects" section.

From what I know we're getting 1 free app per day for every day in July. So each day you go in to the orange selects section one of the apps in there will be free (the price changes to £0.00 for 1 day then changes back to whatever it was originally)

The only problem I see is that once we downgrade back to NoDo, all the apps that we installed on Mango will be deleted (AFAIK) so we'd have to pay for these apps once the Mango Beta ends. Can anyone confirm/deny this?

Hi all
I understand that the Windows Phone marketplace policy is that once you have purchased an item, you can re-download it anytime later if it has been deleted from your phone. This should include future updates to applications/games. The purchase is linked to your Windows Live ID rather than the phone.
The only problem is if the item is removed from the Marketplace after your purchase.

Any idea where it is? It was supposed to be released today (well, yesterday now).
There was some kind of issue deploying the xbox live dashboard update today. Since the dashboard update and the app go hand in hand, they delayed the release of the app until they get it straightened out. It was only supposed to be a couple hours delay, but it has stretched past that now.
Been delayed for a few months. I remember it was called the fall update.
I woke up expecting the new dash update, but nothing was there.
Just got the xbox update (about 6:30PM PST).
It's still fall for the next couple of weeks.

You need to login to windows live / xbox live from a computer and accept the new EULA. Afterwards everything is working just fine again.
Still missing the companion app though.
I got the update but am able to log into Xbox live as well.

it showed up on the Xbox for me. All is normal now, except for the missing app.

Lots of information about the delayed update but no news on the Companion App. Anybody got anything on that?
I've asked both Windows Phone and Xbox on Twitter and haven't received a reply

Just got it. And I have to say, it's pretty sweet. I didn't expect it to work if the device isn't in the same network as the xbox (I have two wifi hotspots). But it does. It even works when the phone is on 3g. With just a very small delay. Good work, Microsoft.

A lot of people are complaining about the ads, I'm not really sure I see the issue. It's kind of like going in iTunes and being upset that you see a banner for some new Lady Gaga single. I understand not wanting to see deodorant ads, but new DLC or XBLA release? I honestly see that more of providing information than annoying ads. IMO of course.

Well that just sucks; I wonder what all they fixed on the new one and where we can get it.
The old version works fine for me. The only thing you cant do is control parts of the os like setting alarm and reminders. But that's MSFTs fault or not allowing apps to do that.

I scrolled through nearly every category of the market looking for this app and it wasn't listed. The first categories I scrolled through, where it should be, were the "New" and "Featured" ones. Nothing. But that's how the WP7 market is, the worst one of all.

Hum, it' there, I just typed "Ask Ziggy" and it found it. I just checked again and it's there it's just not the updated one.

Yeah, but why not have it in "New" releases and "Featured"? Why is the WP7 marketplace so unusable? It annoys me I can't browse the "New" releases and find "New" releases. I am basically forced to see into the ethereal world to find "New" releases. If a person wasn't told about a "New" release, they would never find it because they would have to type the name of any and all unknown new releases to find them.

But what if I didn't know about it beforehand? How is a person to find new releases when they have no clue about them being released or the new release's name since new releases aren't appearing in the "New" release category?

It is a difficult problem to solve. In the last 24 hours, 244 new apps were added. Ask Ziggy came out on on 12/22.
As far as featured is concerned, I don't know their criteria but outside of being featured on a small time Windows Phone blog there wasn't anything notable about the app. It didn't start hitting the major blogs until that. I imagine featured apps are submitted for it, and typically have a fair number of downloads or at least positive reviews.
But it is a problem that you can only find interesting apps via news and blogs. Hopefully there is a good solution.

It's just not listed under "new releases" because it's not new. It's been on the marketplace for quite some time now. For some reason it has just not gained popularity until now.
Hmmm could be you don't see "ask ziggy" in the "new" section because.... Its not new? Not sure when the version that's out was published but people are saying the new one in all the WP7 articles isn't out yet. I'm sure as soon as it is you'd find it in the 'new' section of whatever subsection it goes in. Just my two cents

I browse the "New" category all the time. It's a habit with me, an this app has never been listed there. Nor has it ever been listed in the "Top" or "featured" categories. Think about all those devs out there that release new, high-expectation apps that nobody is buying or using because the majority of people outside of these forums and specific media sites don't know about them. Most people find new stuff by browsing the "New" categories. One poster said Ask Ziggy was released on 12/22. I just found out it existed yesterday by reading this thread.

We all last week saw changes and redesigns made to the Windows Phone Store site and I think this is becoming a problem for some of us. The problem is you really need to verify your phone number when reinstalling an app from the site and what will you do when your country is not listed?? You can never go to the next step if you don't provide a phone number and how can I provide a phone number when my country (Ghana) is not listed? thus making me unable to install my apps...this is not good and would love a solution to this problem. Microsoft really needs to reconsider this step, it's a blockade for non-listed country users with Windows Phones to get our apps.
This ain't good. Just had a reply from Windows Phone support and the whole story now is you really have to forget about Windows Phone now if your country or region isn't listed because you can never purchase or download any app, since they've now introduced phone number verification..... just Great Microsoft, thanks for your new site changes and redesign :'(

i managed it with my phone number +387 for my country, and my number after it, but in the prefix i selected some country there, i think it must not be your country and now i can install apps from web marketplace like before the update, directly to my phone

it is legal i think Microsoft wants our numbers that they can send us ads, and we pay for it... i read on the faqs site that the received sms we pay. and that the sms are only if we dont have internet on our wp7, so that you receive a link to the app to install it later. but with email it was good like it was... now it is a mess
