[Q] Nandroid backup - HTC One X

Hi All,
If I unlock and root my onex and then do a nandroid back up of my current stock ICS, and then upgrade my hboot and install a JB rom, will I be able to re-flash my stock rom if something goes wrong or if I just want to go back to my nandroid back up.
Can I and will it be easy?

So I have unlocked and rooted my phone, back up created and ready to flash. If I do upgrade my hboot to run jb sense 4+ roms, then will my backup still work as this has been created on hboot 1.12, will this not require a downgrade which is not possible. As s-on device HTC__001

Thanks for that mate. One last question if I upload my nandroid backup, will all my personal files, photos music contacts and everything else be in that back up, or am I right in thinking that this is all safe on my sdcard partition. Mainly contacts as i have them on sim and on phone.

[Q] How to restore stock rom without nandroid backup?

Hello all.
I need help on how to go about to restoring the stock rom of the HTC One X Tegra 3 (bought in Singapore). The problem is, I accidentally deleted the Nandroid backup of the original rom after installing "cm-10-20120919-NIGHTLY-endeavoru.zip". I'm planning to get the official JB update over OTA.
Did a fastboot getvar version-main and it showed the version-main as: 2.17.707.3, So, which "RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_hTC_Asia_WWE" should I get?. And, since I'm using a Mac running Mountain Lion, how do I go about extracting the RUU as it's .exe?. If it's impossible to restore the stock rom using a Mac, then how do I go about restoring the stock rom with WinXP?.
Any other files that I need to download other than the RUU?.
Apologies if this question had been asked previously in the forum. But I just can't find any. And I'm still a noob about installing roms and thus that mistake of not doing the Nandroid backup. So, try not to ridicule me too much.
And thus, to cut it short, what's the step by step procedure to install the HOX Tegra 3 stock rom without the Nandroid backup on a Mac )preferably and if possible) or with WinXP. Thank you for the time to read and for any help rendered to this noob.
RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_S_hTC_Asia_WWE_2.17.707.3_Radio_2.1204.135.20_release_278245_s.. this is your RUU. you can download it here. http://www.htcruu.com/?dir=Endeavor. you do not extract the RUU. just run it after you relock your phone.

Thank you sir!.
Just 'gonna put this out here, for anyone else viewing this thread...
ALWAYS CREATE A NANDROID BACK UP! It saves a lot of stress, for you, and for people answering the same questions, over and over. When a tutorial suggests you do something - just go ahead and do it, it's worth it.
IF there is an RUU available for your handset a Nandroid is not required IMO - just my 2p...

Thank you for the comment. I couldn't agree more with you. And I do apologize for asking the very question of this post which I'm sure have been answered countless times previously. Just that I can't get the answer I was looking for or maybe I was quite confused with the treasure trove of information.
And let me reiterate to those who are planning to install a Custom ROM to their Android phones..., please, please, please do a Nandroid backup before flashing your phone to the Custom ROM of your choice. It WILL save you a lot of frustration. It was my mistake for deleting the Nandroid backup. A hard lesson learnt.

But having a Nandroid backup is much more better option to restore the Stock ROM. Well, that's what I think. I'm still a greenhorn about installing Custom ROM and such. And only having a Mac machine at home just makes it a bit more tricky. But that's just me the greenhorn. Anyway, thanks for commenting.

[Q] Installing Android Revolution HD 19.2

Just wondering if it's okay for me to flash, I'm hoping it will be.
I've unlocked my bootloader and pushed SuperSU to my phone, so now I want to flash a ROM and Android Revolution HD looks pretty popular.
In my bootloader my HBOOT is 1.39.0000 and my CID is H3G_001
Just wondering because I'm not sure about HBOOTs and CIDs, but if all is fine I'll go ahead and flash
Thanks!

Also quickly, I've just done a backup in CWM and when viewing the files, I've got .android_secure, cache_ext4, data_ext4, system_ext4, recovery.img and boot.img
Is that a nandroid backup to allow me to revert to stock?
Yes
!! Important !!
Do make a nandroid backup before flashing, cause it will be hard to go back to stock without a leaked RUU.

As far as I know, there is no RUU for this CID, but you could use nandroid instead. Try HERE, you will find what you need.
Also, check you main version, this is also important when choosing correct nandroid (and RUU, also).

My main version is 2.17.161.4, which is not listed with VODAP102. Should I take an other one, like VODAP001/2.17.161.4 or isn't this possible?

Actually, main version is more important for nandroid
I thought you were on JB already, sorry.
If you want to upgrade, use 2.17.161.4 nandroid, then flash OTA update, and then just choose custom ROM you want, or stay with crappy Voda stock :crying:
I went exactly the same way, and my One X is rocking Renovate Final 2 with xm #192. I love it!

I am on JB already (4.2.2). But I want to downgrade to my stock HTC (crappy Voda :crying rom.
So I shoud be just fine if I choose to nandrestore to 2.17.161.4 CID VODAP001, since the mainver is the same? Just for confirmation, I dont like to mess things up.
What happens to my CID after restore, since it is different? And my HBOOT?

I am not really sure about downgrading. Try searching here, I remember there were some threads about it.
CID is hardcoded to your phone, so it cannot be changed unless S-OFF (which is not coming soon to One X). HBOOT also should remain the same.
But, why in the world you would go back? Why don't you flash some custom ROM instead and enjoy the life? I would strongly recommend you to try Renovate, and then decide. :good:
Yeah with that nandroid you can fool the bootloader, restore it and also flash back the stock 2.17 stock recovery. You should be able to update to JB stock with official ota.
Your cid will be listed as the same as the nandroid backup but will be corrected when you do the ota.

is also stock Voda, but JB.
If you want to sell it, it's just as good as ICS stock. If you want to service it, it's the same.
Nandroid that I posted is made from pure Voda JB stock, just after the OTA upgrade.

Just a little warning to Solarr - because I've done it. You may need to follow this procedure:
What if i get MD5 Mismatch?
type in teminal:
Code:
adb shell
# cd /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/Name_of_the_nandbackup_folder
# rm nandroid.md5
# md5sum *img > nandroid.md5
Click to collapse
because the folder name may not be cwm compatible. Don't worry, if you get the mismatch message, just do the above, and you will be alright. :good:
At first boot, you will get one small OTA first, and then the big one with JB update.
Good luck!

Which RUU should I use?

HBOOT : 1.36.0000
Radio : 5.1204.162.29
CID : 044 (Asia WWE)
(Do I need to give more information?)
I've installed an RUU once before, but I've reinstalled Windows and I don't have the file anymore. And I'm not sure which one to download, so can someone please put a link in to your reply . Instructions would be good, because I've got my phone into a bootloop once.
PS : I'm going back to stock, I'm not updating my HBOOT or anything.
Easier is to give the main version.
Fastboot getvar version-main
My guess is 3.14.707......

A nandroid backup does not backup your sdcard. Wiped stuff from the sdcard is not coming back.

I think before you do anything else you need to do some serious reading. The backup is a nandroid of the phones complete rom.
