Is there any way to permanently disable the dock mode? I never use it, except when it forces me to after I plug audio and charging cable in my car.

Bumpin for interest, i also have the same problem when ever i drive to work in the morn and i play pandora(off tapedeck headphone jack) i have to leave it off the charger and kill its battery. Otherwise it gets stuck in dock mode and i have to restart it, suuuper annoying
I've even frozen the system app that used to associate with dock mode. Still happens.

make a back up & delete all clock, dock, and alarm related apps....all.
Would it have the same effect if I froze everything first just to see if it affects it?
Sent from my R800x using xda app-developers app
Perhaps, IDK honestly.
So freezing everything related to clocks and alarms does nothing.
I did notice however when I was going through the system settings that there was a completely separate tab for docks. Maybe that can be removed by tinkering with the framework.res or systemui.res?

Can any one help me? Every time I plug in my car charger into my desire, Car Home seem keep launching itself regardless closing it. I cant find the way to turn the auto run off. (i got a rooted desire with LeeDroid 1.8 installed)
I have read something about this being to do with magnets in the dock in the car. Other than not using the dock or removing the embedded magnets (or uninstalling) then Car Home will run as soon as the phone detects the magnets in the holder. I may just be chatting crap however LOL
Have you gone to the settings of the car phone app and turned off auto launch?

This weird as there are people out there trying to get the desire to do this!
There are no magnet in the desire though (I think)

the Desire does not have magnets in it but can detect magnetism hence the metal detector apps that you can download.

You have HTC's Car Panel, as opposed to Google's Car Home - both do pretty much the same thing though.

I personally found 'custom car home' more friendly, specially it allows you to add your own apps, and lets you select your own navigation, as i got copilot live and navigon

I read somewhere that the it launcher due to one of the pins in the car charger, that is or is not present on a standard data usb cable, This cause it to launch, Well so i've read.
1- standard car home doesnt let u choose ur own navigation, which is pretty lame, 2- its auto run is extremely annoying. 'custom car home' a lot better and friendly, also u can set it as default car home

So my phone has this problem where my phone will randomly open the car dock. When the phones locked, unlocked, when I using it, it just randomly opens. I've reflashed roms to change and hope it was just one Rom but it still does it.
I even switched to miui which doesn't have a car dock and I got the car dock notification in the top bar and it kicked the gps on.

That is weird. Have you attempted to remove, freeze or rename the car dock app? If not, give it a try. Using a system level file manager like Root Explorer or adb, maneuver to the /system/app folder and either rename or delete .apk file associated with the car panel. I've deleted mine and I'm not sure of the exact name of it.

I've seen where some usb cables have the extra pin grounded and the car dock will open when plugged into any sort of charger, unchecking the option to start automatically under settings/dock will fix that.
Are you saying it opens without being plugged into anything all by itself?
I have had that same problem for about 5 months. I'm guessing u also have speakerphone active every time you start a call, right? What I always do is after I flash a new Rom go in to car panel- settings- and disable auto launch then open titanium backup and uninstall car panel. This doesn't work as good on sense 2.0 Roman tho, it won't ever actually pop up but it will be in your task bar constantly. Sorry u r going thru this too cuz I know how pissed it used to make me.
You probably have a problem with your USB port. Best thing to do is take it in to Sprint and get it looked at.

Thanks for all the quick replies guys. Yeah I figured it's probably a grounded pin somewhere making the phone think that it's always docked. I'm using MIUI now and I don't think I can uninstall the car panel part.
But by far the most annoying part is the phone always defaulting to speakerphone, totally awesome when I'm at college haha.
My girlfreind has the issue on her phone but only when using a certain charger. I didn't realize the problem she has with speakerphone activating were related. Does turning off the dock auto-launch also fix the speaker phone issue?
I've had my Galaxy nexus for slightly over a month now and it had been great! No problems, perfect screen (at least i dont detect anything) But as of late, problems began to show one after another. The problems includes the "appear to be charging when not plugged in" problem, when charging, the touch screen doesn't work (registers random touches) but most importantly, an heating problem.
Typically, if i was in the middle of an app or using my camera, i'd be fine with the heat. However, i noticed my problem when i am walking down the street with the phone in my jacket pocket listening to music. I felt the heat through my jacket pocket! I have a habit of using my task manager to stop all ongoing task everytime i use my phone so all that is on is hte music app.
Any1 else has this problem or know how to solve it? Is it an hardware issue where i should contact samsung for my warranty?
there is a touchscreen bug, but not this one. the other can be undo by switch in standby and back again.
the other problems look like app/rom problems. maybe u have an app installed that runs in background and cant be killed easily be kick the app out of the taskmanager.

The thing is the whole bolt symbol while not charging thing is keeping my screen on. I have uninstalled all apps i've installed as of late. The only apps i have left are lightbox, facebook, skype, windup knight, and angry birds.
Also, another problem i have is mobile data. I switched it off because i dont have a data plan but every now and then, it'll automatically switch itself back on. Is that normal?
I am currently using stock rom (i've haven't decided if i know my GN enough to need a custom yet)
there is a developer option that keeps your screen on while charging. try to toggle that.
and no its not normal that it ll automatically switch on. for this the apps needs special permission you can find in security/deviceadministration (hope name translation is correct ^^)

If that's true, Thanks!
Uninstall your task manager.
Also what charger are you using? I know my old phones would have messed up touchscreens if I wasn't charging with the stock cords.

No, it is not possible. Car mode is useless; it is locked to use only htc locations or google for nav, and only tunein for streaming radio (even if you own TuneIn Pro.)

Nope, not in Car mode. Believe me, I've tried. TuneIn is disabled in Setings :: Apps, but can still be launched by the Car mode app, and can't be replaced. Nor is it ijntelligent enough to pick up favorites from the Pro version, so yoiu have to maintain two sets of favorites.

Also, you can install the Google Car mode instead of using the included one.
You'll be able to add and/or remove all the apps you want.
Works quite fine here, but a little laggy.
About CoPilot, I have many crashes when I use it for a while (more than 2 hrs), landscape or portrait.

Yeah, I'll likely have to install a third-party Car mode. Makes me wonder though; supposedly HTC's Car mode pops up automatically when you use the car dock. I wonder if that can be disabled or changed to another program?

In settings under Dock mode there is an option "Default action". It has the following options:
Show HTC dock screen
Open app
Do nothing
When I press open app it doesn't let me select an app so I'm guessing it either opens car mode or (and I hope this is the one but I dont have a dock to test it) when you dock it it lets you select an app (for example google car) and saves the option.

CoPilot 8
Hi,
Anyone using CoPilot 8 with their One X? Recently installed it & works very well with the exception that I cannot access the bottom of the screen (menu, hide & exit options) because the 3 dot menu covers it. This occurs in both portrait & landscape modes.
Anyone experiencing this and is there a workaround? Noticed on ALK's website that there is an update for the HTC One X however believe this is only for Premium versions...
You can use Tasker to launch whatever config you want (including apps) when the phone is docked and undocked. Easiest way is to use a tasker profile to detect when the phone docs.
Got mine configured to launch Bluetooth to connect to my handsfree, shut of Wifi, turn the volume up to max and launch a sat nav app then undo all that when undocked. I stopped using the Car app when I found the limitations being described here.

Yes, that is what I use instead. Nuts to HTC’s Car Mode.
I’ve set up a ‘Car Mode On’ task and assigned it to a Tasker launch widget on a home screen. I press it and Tasker runs through the following;
1. Screen Brightness: 90%
2. GPS: On
3. Bluetooth: On
4. 3G: Off (I don’t need it for CoPilot, maps on SD card plus I don’t want e-mails etc distracting me. )
5. Auto Sync: Off (Same reasons as above)
6. Media Volume: 100%
7. Wait for 1 second
8. Launch App: CoPilot
I added step 7 as if CoPilot launches too soon after GPS has activated, it *****es up about GPS being off even though Tasker has turned it on. Stops the need bring up the menu just to turn GPS off and on again.
(On my previous phone (Desire S) I also had Tasker drop CPU back to 66% to prevent overheating. Doesn’t seem to work yet on One X but I’ll keep trying. I tested it using System Tuner. Told Tasker to drop CPU 0 to 760Mhz when System Tuner runs. I opened System Tuner, and although the slider for setting CPU speed had responded to Tasker’s command and had set to 760Mhz, I could see from the CPU monitor that it was still going up to 1.5Ghz.)
As this is just a Tasker Widget that executes a pre-set task, you don’t get the exit tasks turning everything back to normal when you end your journey and close CoPilot. So I added a ‘Car Mode Off’ Task and associated widget which basically reverses steps 1 to 6.

I've tried 3 different sets of headphones/earbuds. There something wrong with it. I'll go to the AT&T store tomorrow to get it exchanged.

Yesterday, I took the device back to AT&T and swapped it for one that works with headphones. It was definitely a hardware problem (the new one has a very tight fit for headphones).
Now I'm have a new issue: I can't change the clock or effects on the lock screen, after the AT&T SW update came through (I don't know for sure that the update is the cause). The selection to change the settings used to be in its proper place under "Lock Screen Settings" (found in the display settings). Yesterday afternoon, I did a factory reset to see if it would fix the issue. At that point "Select Screen Lock" appeared under the Lock Screen selection in Display Settings (which can also be reached via the Lock Screen Settings when you push the Settings button while on a home screen). A couple hours later, the AT&T SW update came through. An hour or two after that, I noticed that the ability to change the Lock Screen clock and effects, was no longer there (and the clock widget was no longer in the widgets list).
To be clear: this isn't a matter of me not knowing how to make the change (I've already done so twice): 1) with my original phone and 2) with this phone, after replacing the original for the phone jack issue). The setting selections for Lock Screen Clock (and 4 app icons) and "Effects" are no longer there.
It works fine with me

I couldn't change the settings, then did a factory reset. After which, I could change settings, then 3-4 hours later (AT&T SW update happened roughly at the mid point of the 3-4 hr time window), I couldn't change the settings.

Yes, Menu items are there. When I select Display>Lock Screen , the Clock settings and Effects selections are now gone. I did another factory reset, change the clock and reinstalled all of my downloaded apps. Within an hour of the factory reset, the Clock and Effects, selections that should be in the Lockscreen Settings were gone (so my speculation regarding the AT&T SW update wasn't valid).
