Anyone else notice that the charger that comes with the phone doesnt fit into the charger slot on the phone securely?
Mines forever loose, and sometimes it just fall out when plugged into the phone.
Is this a known defect?

Lol, no way it will fit good, it will be loose for everyone, including me.
Some people removed the white part with a razor to make it better, but I am scared to do that.
This charger is bogus. Small, doesn't fit properly, and mine is already damaged, getting a new one.
Do you mean cable doesn't fit good? I have those problems also. For example when i plug in charger cableg and leave phone on table, it stays in. But if I take phone in my hands, it falls out immediately

It does not fall out when I pick up the phone.
yes I had a Note 2 N7100 that kept ejecting the usb cable, I tried other cables and they fit properly. Filing around the micro usb solved the problem. I have since returned that phone and bought the N7105 and guess what, the charger fits perfectly... it could have just been a manufacturing defect on the USB not the phone. If you do a google, a lot of people have experienced this...
No such problem for me either, fits perfect

Mine is the same.. the charger ends at a 90 degree angle and sort of only allows three quaters of the charger to go in. Any kind of movement and it pops out
Yep same problem i tried my brothers nexus charger and it fits perfectly like any other and also my girlfriends blackberry cable fits better than mine, imo it is sung's cable problem that comes with note ii

When plugged in with the charger that came with the phone at Tmobile I notice that the cable connecting to USB port is not perfectly straight when connected and phone laying flat on a table. If I look at the cable connecting to the Micro USB phone port I see it is slightly sloping. The slope is slight but definitely it is not 100% straight. Has anyone else noticed this? I ask only because the phone is brand new and costs a pretty penny. Thanks
Yes very slight slope I have had this phone since October 14th with zero problems with charger and port for USB so nothing to worry about mate

The micro usb jack does not slide into the phone smoothly. feels like its pushing up against something and i need to tilt the cable to get it in.
I just use a different cable and it works great, no resistance.

So my old gnex got exposed to minor water (vzw version). Neither of the tabs got exposed but the charging port was a little rusty. It no longer charged.
So I spend 700, put insurance on, and I have a new one. Two months later it won't charge. I bend up the little tab in the USB port and now its better. (Should have been manufactured a little tighter I guess). So now I go to the old rusty one, bend it up, now charges fine. I'm the proud owner of two nexii. Guess once I get elf_begin.c to stop throwing an error on the jb source I'll have a flashing device. Lesson? If it won't charge bend the tab. Mine will probably break with my luck soon. Anyone else have experience with the usb port acting funny?

Thanks for the tip! A meaningful thread title might be a good idea as well!
I just came over from the dx2. Got myself a great gnex for 250.00 on eBay. I would do it all over again. I although I can afford to spend the 700.00 for a new phone..it makes no sense to do so with so many great deals out there. You just have to look and be patient. I equate this to my previous cars...I have only purchased one new vehicle, right after college. That was a mistake that I won't make again. There's nothing wrong with getting a vehicle with 30k miles on it. Good luck with your gnex.

If you look in the USB port, there's a little flat thing. If that thing gets pushed too far towards the bottom, it doesn't make proper contact with the charger.
I just stuck a knife in there and bent it up a bit. Not a lot . If you push it up too far the connector won't go in. If you're really paranoid, take the battery out of the phone so you don't short anything. And just slowly push it up. It only took a little bit for me to fix it

I got the Nexus i9250 (white/Unlocked) for $664.59 a couple weeks after release but i also been having problems with the prong.. some times it charges sometimes it doesn't but the annoying thing is this, i would have the lightning bolt inside the battery showing it was charging and it would say charging/battery level on the lock screen even when it wasnt plugged in ! now after bending it it goes and comes but when its not charging and i turn the screen off it turns it self on as if i connected the charger.. i was thinking i can do the following..
1, take it to Sprint/verizon and ask if they can replace the usb port i and pay out of pocket, but if they charge over $75 i might as well call the insurence company and have a replacement for that price..
2, buy a landscape charging dock but then i cant sync the phone to computer..
i cleaned inside incase it had dirt or anything was bent but nothing.. ANY IDEA WHAT I SHOULD DO ?? tia
I'll leave this here...because it's relevant.

What's the output on these chargers? I am considering one for my N7 for a car install since otg+charging seems to be a ways off. I like the idea of the magnets which would make installation into a dashboard cubby in a Mazda 6 a piece of cake, just as long a it can provide sufficient amps to charge while the screen is on. Any feedback on this function would be appreciated!

The magnets are pretty strong on the N5, but not on the N7. I have doubts about it being able to work in a moving car. I've noticed it has to lay against the charger perfectly flat (full contact) or it won't charge. If you're going to try for a car install, then you may have better luck with a carriage and a third party Qi charger.
So far the only impressive thing (besides the charging speed) is the micro-suction pad it uses on the bottom. That sucker grips!

The dashboard in my Speed6 has a cubby/glovebox where the SatNav would be as an added option. It's a perfect place for tablet integration and I've seen others succeed. Securing the N7 should be pretty easy and I think with a piece of plexiglass/hobby board for the wireless charger to stick to it could be a very convienent addition particularly with keeping the N7 portable as opposed to plugging in the charger everytime I plan on using the tablet especially if I want to use an OTG cable with a thumb drive/microSD.

It's worth a shot. The N7's size makes it awkward to balance (IMO) since the charger itself is small.
Sweet spot.
Has anyone found the sweet spot to get N7 (2013) to charge on the Google wireless charger yet?
are the magnets in the charger enough to hold the nexus 7 in place? or is it easily knocked off?
Without a case the magnets may be strong enough to hold it in place. I've found mine is very fussy about the charger it is paired with. The supplied charger works fine but a few others I have tried refuse to work with it.

very luxury item, i like this
Just got this wireless charger....it works well without a case, but doesn't work with my DeviceWear case. Disappointing, but I guess not surprising.
I find when using this charger I lay it down and slide it around until the magnets feel the strongest, almost like it locks in.. Works every time.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
That method works well without a case fitted, unfortunately with a case fitted the magnets are too weak to lock on in the sweet spot.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
I have the official google wireless charger and have no problems finding the sweet spot anymore! When I first got it I had issues but now that I'm more accustomed to it its pretty easy! I just set the exact center of the tablet on the charger and if I miss by an inch or so the magnets drag it into the correct position! Quite nice indeed! I don't use a case though so I'm sure that's a decent factor if you use one. It chargers quite fast as well!

Bought this when it was on sale for like $14.99 by the same primo-superstore guys. Great qi charger. It does BEEP when you first put the phone on but doesn't keep BEEPING once the phone is fully charged like some others.
Very low noise beep tho', so not really a big deal. There's also a tiny LED light on the front of the charger for indication. It did not come with an AC adapter so you'll have to supply one. But it did came with a long and a short micro USB cable. I suppose one is for connecting to a wall charger and the other one for your computer. It does charge just phone if you hook it up to the computer USB port, although much slower.
Best $15 buck I spent all year.
Bought the same or similar one from FastTech and am waiting for it to come in. I'm looking forward to trying it out.

Does it keep the Nexus 5 at 100% when you charge it overnight or does it completely stop charging once it reaches 100%. Does the phone/battery get hot when using this charger?
Ya it works with my digitronic case no problem and the beep actually really helps letting you know its charging. Yes it remains at 100% and does not beep all night like other ones it has been working great so far. I read a lot of people having trouble with these types of chargers they would charge then it gos to 99% then back to full and beeps on a cycle all night long but I have not experienced that with this charger. I don't know if this one on amazon is different then other ones sold on eBay they all look the same but so far the one from amazon is good. I'm almost thinking about returning the nexus charger to Google because I don't use it anymore.

I bought one too and I like it a lot. I can charge my nexus 5 (via Qi), Nexus 7 FHD (USB, 2.1A) and Dell Venue 8 pro (usb, 1A) simultaneously while charging the internal battery.
Just ordered one. It says 17-28 days, which is a while, but I'm not in a hurry
Does it have the magnets though that the nexus charger has? That's really why I wanted to buy the nexus one.
I got this last week. I used velcro to stick it to my car mount. I had to remove the rubber rings from the top and bottom to make this work.
It does not have magnets. The magnets in the official charger set it apart from most other Qi chargers.
It works well with my Dizitronic TPU case
FYI - Here's the Fasttech model. I can confirm that this works with both the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5. Fast charging, and no beeping all night. For those people having trouble with beeping, try being more precise with placement... I find on the Nexus 4, that if I put the charger dead center on the body of the phone, it will beep continuously. If I offset the charger about 1/2" towards the micro-USB port on the phone, the beeping stops and it charges perfectly. The Nexus 5 seems less picky about placement, the sweet spot seems to be quite large in comparison.
Anyway, here it is: http://www.fasttech.com/products/0/10006012/1462103-t200-qi-wireless-charging-plate
I bought two, and really need to buy about five more. They're awesome.
Oh, and to answer someone else's question, no magnets for the N5... but flat on a desk and with the large sweet spot, it doesn't seem to matter.
I have this one too. It's worked well for me as a magnetic car dock (had to add the magnets). I hated the Beep sound whenever it became misaligned so I popped it open and found the speaker.
It's the tall black thing in the middle-left of the attached image. If you pop off the top plastic lid of that little black thing you can remove the little metal circle that sits inside it and it stops the beeping. If that's an issue for anyone else...

This happened to mine as well. I have taken it apart and tightened the micro usb socket twice now. Works for a while but the overall design is the problem. This has always been a problem with micro usb and is why proprietary sockets are far superior to micro usb despite all the blather I hear about how convenient micro usb is. You can convert proprietary ports when needed and they dont fail like this.
My other two Android devices are like two years and both use micro USB, and they still work fine. It might be the design of the Nexus 7 itself.

I had this problem with my old Samsung Captivate. It would get so bad the cable would actually fall out. Have you tried a new cable? I thought my phone was damaged but I ordered a new OEM cable because I damaged the original and it also happened to fix the charging and loose connection issues. After a while, it happened again so I just ordered a few more cables on eBay. The reason I chose OEM cables was because the Captivate had a sliding door for the USB cable that often wouldn't accommodate a standard connector. After that experience, I try to stick with OEM cables when possible, just to be safe.

Mine is different. The micro USB would perfectly fit into the port. I would feel and hear a confident strong click and the movement is minimal. However, it would not sometimes charge and have to play with the cable while at the port.
Funny... I though I was alone 'cause no one would write about it..
I got 3 cables, all with slight different behaviors but generally loose, one of them actually falls off.
Patience is highly and thoroughly tested when I want to transfer data to my nexus.
