So I have been trying to figure out this thing about missing calls and not always being able to make calls. Right no im on DG rom stock tw jb witch can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1869300 good rom btw just had to some tweaking on my own.. still learning about the samsung s3 stuff but not new to flashing etc..
Anyways.. So I have flashed a modem which I flashed the UCLH9 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1831898) and used kernel from KT tw jb version ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1756776)
Also changed my apn settings witch really the only that I really had to change was in the apn type default,supl,mms,hipri( cause I wanted to fix some signal/lte settings) and thats all. Just to give a little bit of an idea what I have done so far..
I main thing is making calls I have found a couple of things about missed calls etc but just talking about setting contacts to go into voice mail and or rejecting numbers..
I have posted in the rom thread that im using but Im not sure if the dev or really much of anyone is on it there is but not as active really.
So when I try to make calls sometime it tells me that I can not make this call because of the country im calling from. I live in u/s FLA. What I have notice is that there is a plus sign in front of the number im calling not all of my contacts are like that so I.E it looks like this +386XXXXXXX so I would have to delete the number which will appear like this 1 (386) xxx-xxxx and it will go through no problem. So Idk what is making that do that.. and sometimes I wont even get a phone call and then the person will text saying why are you not picking im calling you like 100xs lol never receive. the call. Now in the rom thread someone other member post this from another user..

Ok I tried using the ril files from the LH1 ICS release. I didn't have any signal after replacing the file and rebooting. I then used the ril from the LI8 TMO leak and I do have a signal now
I cant tell if it fixed the issue. I just had my gf call me and it went through.
Before I put the libs into the release would you guys mind testing for me?
This zip file is NOT flashable. just unzip it, push it to system/lib and change the permissions to match the other files in the folder. it should be rw,r,r

Was thinking about doing this but not really sure on what to do with the zip do I just add it to my extsd card and click on that file and unzip it..?
So yeah i have been looking for this answer for awhile I dont want to go to another rom because im liking this but just that bug about the miss and out going calls..

my phone just never rings, im so sick of people asking me why im always on voice mail, ive been with htc desire for so long and had many roms, just feel its getting worse and worse.
I am using the latest 2.5 gv rom and have tried several radios, i just get the same problem constantly, sat there, phone pops up a message X person called but left no message, my phone just never rings
any advise please?
You have the problem with other ROMs or just GV2.5?
what about the stock one?
is there a chance its the signal that's poop not the phone/radio?
didnt really wanna go back to a sense based rom, I am sure its always done this a little but not as much as now, I do think its got worse since using gv if anything, but so many roms to choose from and didnt wanna have to wipe my sd card to go to another.
I guess its easier than a new phone, my work bb just never fails, so its tempting to just get another one of them tired of this problem now.
can the actual rom cause this to happen? not just the radio? signal is ok in my area.

U don't have to wipe ur sd card to change rom
no i know but quite often the way a2sd and stuff all works it requires messing about and can get messy, like some of the roms i looked at were different size ext partitions and so on also.
What roms and radios are you guys using with a reliable phone service? ie not many dropped calls?

I think you should contact your operator, isn't a problem with rom and radio
When someone call you, the phone have to receive the call
So, or ur desire have some fault, or the simcard/ur line/ur operator have a problem..
Did you tried to understand when it doesn't ring? Try to understand, why it not get the call in that moment
Anyway you can call ur service operator and say that sometimes the call u receive go directly to the voice mail..They can check something on the line i think..

My friend bought S2-T989 (+unlock code) and all worked well with Tmobiles stock rom. After he flashed another rom (Jedi i believe?) he cant hear anything during calls (not sure about the other side), and it takes time to create an out going call. Can someone confirm its related to radio-carrier? By the way, we are from Israel, if thats important.

updated cwm to latest and flashed another rom, fixed the problem.
In my experience official cyanogen mods night lies don't have volume in calls, everything else I have tries has worked

Okay so i flashed the ROM and no other bugs other than the fact that where I live I get such crappy signal that i depend on wifi calling so turning that off is NOT an option. I keep getting the IPService has stopped running any other suggestions to make it stop/fix?? Keeps going even after fix permissions and turn wifi off and back on.... I would post under the ROM but apparently I havent asked enough questions to get to do that.. Sorry for understanding instructions ....

Okay so either no one has an answer or they think that I am an idiot. the obvious answer for me is to go back to my prior ROM of choice but I like this ROM and would like to give it a fair shake but I do need my wifi calling intact. In my home (the apparent second circle of hell) I get crappy Tmo reception so I depend on wifi to push my calls through. I tried flashing another kernel but the wifi calling is not kernel dependent. Is there something that is being worked on????? Or shoudl i just give up and go back to my old rom?
I don't think anyone thinks you're stupid. I can tell you that I've never seen this error before. Have other people reported this issue?
I dont have wifi to test but you could download the modified mms.apk and see if that helps you. Let me know if the problem still there after that
i just flshed today.. and i get this all day long.. while on facebook... and just having my phone on.. i dont think its an app it might be bad coding?

the message is only when wifi calling is checked regular wifi works fine when unchecking wifi calling ip message goes away. This ROM is great its fast and battery life is good would like to use this rom but wifi calling is important to me because and to many others if you find time in version 3 to make wifi calling work that would be great. Is there anything that we can do to make this service work something that needs to installed or modified? Where do we get this modified mms.apk when searching for this it only mentions modified mms.apk for AOSP ROM's? Will the AOSP modified mms.apk work on this ROM? Thank you so much for all you do and time to make ROM's.

If your looking for the modified mms look under themes and apps .
As for the ip service me and gypsy214 are currently working on an update for universe s4 and also multiwindow for stock rom

I have this weird reception problem. Every once in a while, my phone would enter this weird state. It looks normal as I see my phone has reception. However, people would complain that they try calling or texting me and I would receive nothing. During this same state, if I try calling others with my phone, the phone call application would freeze and no outgoing calls can be made. Also if I were to send a text, I would see a "sending" message and I know for sure the text won't be sent. The only fix is to reboot the phone to get proper reception and I would be able to receive incoming signal and make outgoing calls/texts. Is there a fix or explanation for this problem?
This problem existed on my phone for a while, for stock, AOKP (all stables) and CM (10.1 stable). I don't know if its a radio issue as I tried different radios.
I'm having a similar issue where I randomly can't send or receive calls even though it shows that the signal is just fine. A reboot fixes it.
At first I thought that it was the latest update to the ROM (Slim 7.5 weekly) and so I reverted back to 7 Official. It then happened again so I tried out the Carbon ROM...and it happened again so I went back to Slim but changed radios...and it just happened again so I'm trying a different kernel but I'm doubtful as they've had different kernels anyhow.
My guess is that it either has to do with hercules and 4.2.2 or just whatever commonalities which exist between the various non-TouchWiz ROMS. (if it keeps up though I'm going back to Embryo as it's TW-based and never had this problem)
Oh well, wish I could've offered a solution instead of the above but hopefully someone smart will come along and help.:laugh:
Where are you located and are you on T-Mobile? It could be tower work in your areas. I experience similar situations when they did the refarm and again during the LTE upgrades. Either way if you report signal problems they can have the towers checked where you are.

It could be the work to tweak and expand the LTE in Houston. I know on my phone I get sending errors when I don't delete message threads that are huge. I'm talking about 1000+ txt to the same person with pictures etc. It's just more memory that the phone uses up to display all of that information. You could try deleting some old messages, after backing up anything you want to keep, and see if that helps.
I'm OCD about deleting messages but thank you for the tip.
There are two others in my household on my family plan who aren't experiencing the issues but they are both on completely stock ROMs.
if still having connectivity issues try this -Download terminal emulator and type the following command (or copy and paste)
cat /sys/devices/platform/msm_rpm/fw_version
If your output is 2.0.67419 then you don't need to Odin anything...if it isn't...then you need to update your firmware via Odin. 4.1.2 stock

Here is usually what happened to me. I got into an area where there is low or no service, I tried to send a MMS and it would just stuck at Sending. Once I got back into the full bar area, the MMS is still stuck even though I can send text and get online. I have to delete the MMS, reboot and then I can send MMS fine. I don't make calls that often so I don't know if I can make a call when this happened (I am on a $30/mo walmart plan).
So it could be something in 4.2.2 and got hang up when there is no signal and never timeout so you would lose that functionally until you reboot. Who knows? I can't go back to 4.1.2 ROMs tho so I just reboot...
It's definitely nice to hear that it is happening to others as I've been tearing my hair out trying to figure out which component was messing up (ROM, radio, or kernel). I'd much rather it be them (T-Mobile) than me.
I went back to Embryo, which is TW-based and 4.1.2, just to give it one last go in case it is something with 4.2.2 but if it happens again I'll be back on either Slim or Carbon.

Hello fellow galaxy users, I have this problem on my T-mobile Samsung galaxy s4 and it is when I make a call, I cant hear anybody on the like or the dial tone or anything, and when the other picks up my call they can't hear anything either. Also if I pick up a call I still cannot hear anything. It is just plain silence. NOW HERE IS THE WEIRD PART! If I turn on wifi calling, I can call and receive calls with out any problems, if I use skype I can hear from the speaker and everything. So my mic is working, my speakers are working, everything seems to be functioning... Till I make a call using data... My guess is its a T-mobile network issue? I called T-mobile and they didn't know what was wrong... I looked around google and many people are having the same problem with no solution... If anyone has any ideas or any solution and would like more info on this problem, please let me know!

im having the same exact problem! i have seen some fixes that people have posted with similar issue, leading them to believe its something with their bluetooth/ok google/s voice being involved. ive tried some of the fixes that have been posted, but no luck on fixing the issue on my end. but just like you if i go on wifi and make a call i have no issues what so ever! the sound also works just fine if i connect to a bluetooth device.
Are both of you on the full NH7 firmware?

i will add that this is my first galaxy, that i haven't rooted or changed the rom on. i have yet to have a reason to root or change the rom on this phone, but if i have to, to get this fixed? i have no problem rooting and changing the rom.
also i have noticed that i drop LTE to 4g when ever i try to make a call. the wife has the same phone and is on tmobile as well but she has not had this issue.
Ok, since you are stone stock this could be a update issue, just out curiosity I would try a factory reset (hard reset ) it may solve the issue . If not I would go with stock rooted like ShinySide's rom not full custom until issue is solved.

This by ShinySide will give you an option to flash a stock firmware if you choose to be stock again. Follow instructions using Odin.
