Amazon.com will have the Note 2 for $229 in titanium grey and $279 in white Friday only. Limited stock

wonder if this is for upgrades too, I might get one of these for family members, sell their devices, so I can get the note2 for free lol
nice post OP:good::good:
It says its for eligible upgrades at the bottom

Yes upgrades and new lines/contracts only. Won't work for off contract but if ur eligible for your upgrade u can use this, sale starts after midnight weds thru midnight Fri online, in stores Fri, stores are opening early the ones near me are opening at 4am
Edit: the note 2 is supposed to be on sale as well for black Friday but no word on price, however it won't be any less than $150 as the biggest drop sprint corporate does is $150 off and the note 2 is $300 on contract. More than likely it will probably only be $50-$100 off making it $200-$250 on sale. I'm waiting for the after Xmas sales for the note 2 cuz it will have been out 2 months and probably go down to around $150. My dad bought himself a note 2 and gave me his 2month old sgs3 so I can stand to wait another month or 2 til the price comes down on the note

Except you're missing a gb of ram, 14gb of app storage the 0lag camera shutter, nfc, a much faster processor, bigger battery, HD screen, etc. I didn't think it would be a big difference either til I had one in my hand now the et4g feels slow especially when trying to take pics of my kids, the camera feels so sluggish waiting for the sshutter to reset between pics. I've actually force closed the camera trying to snap pics like it was my sgs3 wife is happy with the et4g tho, I liked it alot but the sgs3 is like someone gave the et4g steroids, and the note 2 is like someone gave the sgs3 steroids.

Yes note 2 has a 3100mah battery vs 2100 in the s3, quad core s4 pro vs dual core s4pro, bigger screen, s-pen a few other things. The battery is the biggest difference, getting almost double the battery life of the s3 when both are stock

Don't get me wrong, I know it's a better and newer phone, but my upgrade isn't until late next year and I just came from the LG Optimus, so I'm in heaven with this phone. By the time I get my upgrade, the S3 will be old news.

I know things are old before they come out! I wouldn't have the s3 if my dad hadn't bought a note 2 and gave me his s3. I was saving my upgrade for the note 2, which ill be getting around Xmas. Looking at the s3 vs s2 on paper it doesn't seem like a big change but once u get it in ur hands and compare side by side u see and feel a huge difference. I think my favorite thing is the camera, between snapping stills while recording HD video and being able to take stills as fast as u can tap the button especially having kids is great

No ur right the note 2 does have the quad exynos, I'm thinking of the quad s4 in the optimus g and nexus 4, my bad. The krait however is in the pro family just the dual.core name I cant remember the name on the s4 pro quad basically s4 pro would be like amd 64 and krait would be like the model number just a different model of the same family. Idk y I thought the note had the s4 in it too, my dad has the optimus g on his work line so probably cuz I was looking at it's box and not the notes :banghead:
The bigger trade off is the gpus the exynos in the note got the Mali gpu and the s4s got the crappy adreno.

The camera on the JB leak FK09 has no lag and is instant. You'll be pretty amazed! I know I was.. And who really needs 14gb of app storage? I'm good with the 2gb on my et4g if it ever becomes full I always have the option to move to sd. Ps does the gs3 really have that much for apps or are you referring to the internal 16gb memory? (Which the GS2 also has). I'm having a hard time processing that. Usually the internal memory is that high but that's separate from your actual app storage.

The internal 16gb is all one /data partition /sdcard for USB storage is just a folder on the /data partition u can store anything on or from apps pics videos music etc. This time around they didn't split the internal into 2 partitions like on the s2. The 32gb version is the same way. One of the complaints Samsung got on the s2 was the 2gb /data 14gb /storage partition scheme so this time they went with one 16 or 32gb /data partition instead of breaking it into one larger chunk for storage and a smaller apps only partition
Edit: and the camera difference I'm talking about is due to the hardware sensor not the software, I've tried both side by side, the camera on the s2 freezes the force closes if I try to take pics as fast as I can on the s3. U can just rapidly tap the shutter button on the s3 and basically take burst mode pics it'll grab 30 or 40 pics in a few seconds if I try it on my s2 the camera will freeze or lag real bad then force close and about half of the pics that it managed to take show up all black

Yea its alot snappier on fk09 than on ics, the speed on the s3 probably wouldn't be a huge thing unless you're like me an trying to get pics of running kids, my s3 grabs a bunch of nice ones while the et4g even on fk09 would either be blurry on some or it just would fail to take cuz of auto focus lagging. Here's a cpl screen shots of the s3 storage, notice how it has no apps on SD column now and the available space left is 11gb

Meh .... played with a Nexus for a while yesterday because I really wanted a larger screen however the Nexus screen is actually "smaller" then the T989 in the end because a big chunk of it is dedicated to the usual capacitive buttons. The "HD" does look nice though but that even makes fonts and icons smaller (but sharper) and for me I need larger. All in all not very impressive, at least not impressive enough to sell this and buy the the Intern'l Nexus. Considering that the T989 will get ICS one way or the other that's good enough for me.

if you look close on our phone, u will see pixelation which bother the hell out of me, and in low brightness mode there is blob and weird artifact on the screen, which has been reported by other user, not a problem for me since i rarely go low anyway, but the fact that it's a 500-600 device kinda bother me. i really wish we could get the international GS2 for tmobile, if thats the case than i wouldnt care about galaxy nexus at all.

The reason I need a larger font/icons is because if they are too small I don't see them well. At my age vision is the 2nd thing to go. I see no pixelation even if it is there.
it has nothing to do with hardware and EVERYTHING to do with software. I believe when we get CM9 running on our device it will be better then the nexus. Only complaint I have about our phone is the resolution.

Well 4.3 screen are easily best size for 800x480 I recall someone said once wvga screen are stretch beyond that point pixelization starts appearing up. The fact that it isn't super amoled plus bothers me. I don't know of you played with a droid razor but at angles the screen has a greenish tint. It is on the galaxy note as well. But it's probably much harder to see because of the screen size.

If the sg2 HD was available I would get that instead of nexus. The hi rez screen alone was reason enough for me to pick up the nexus. I also like the fact that its a straight up Google phone, I like to get updates first.
I'm sure 3-4 months from now sg2 HD will be released in US and shortly after sg3 will be released overseas. I will be content with the nexus until a quad comes. I stuck with nexus s and then got a g2x, only to be replaced by the nexus.
My wife has sg2 but my nexus looks better.

I think the contour display is a plus. HD screen is a plus, ICS is a plus, instant shutter is a plus, no capacitive buttons is a plus, the fact that its a vanilla is a plus. I love nexus phones and they have their cons just like any phone, just find what YOU like and leave it at that. If you don't want it, don't get it and everyone is happy
There is enough hate in the world. Why can't we all get along here ...?

About the only thing i saw skimming that wouldn't make it for sure is the screen.
Doubling the ram isnt crazy at all. 12MP while not even desirable due to image noise is pretty low considering the HTC Titan II and others are sporting 16MP sensors. 2 Ghz A9 dual core is available pushing it a little but hey.
12 megapixels actually can be pretty good. It isnt all about megapixels. My wife has a 500 dollar Canon that is only 14. I am pretty sure our 8 megapixel is better than a lot of phones.
On my Epic mobile phone.
I think that is the Sprint LTE phone to get. My SGS2E4GT will last me until there is LTE in my area. By then the GNex will be old news. SGS3 will be my upgrade.
I hated 3D. I got an EVO 3D before and is not good watching a full movie. It hurts your eye. Why not change the screen size to match the galaxy note.
Rumors or not that image is awesome..
Go a little stronger on the radios this time Samsung... kthx.
Reality S3 probably:
1.5 Quadcore - 12MP Camera - 16/32GB - 2GB Ram
Wishful S3:
2.5GB Quadcore - 16MP camera - 32/64GB - 2/3GB Ram
What will make me say WOW is if I could replace my laptop and be able to handle medium to light heavy processing power of a laptop (probably s4)... Until then it's business as usual.
If that's true, I'm starting to save right now.

Those specs are nice, but they better make sure the radios they user are to of the line with no GPS issues or loss of signal problems and slow 3g.
Swyped from my Samsung Galaxy SII EPIC 4g Touch on XDA Premium!
We have to remember we're dealing with a phone manufacturer AND processor maker here. It all depends on which route Samsung decides to go with their processors...the Nvidia route, and racing to add more cores; or the qualcomm route, and trying to improve and refine their dual cores. Both ways offer benefits.

I have tried to convince the HTC fanboys exactly this but they don't want to hear it. All they have to say it, Samsung phones are plastic and junk.....Um okay, I will enjoy my junk phone that destroys the EVO 3D in every way but you keep thinking your phone is better.
I am so glad I gave this phone a chance because it made me realize how crappy and underachievers HTC phones really are.
Whatever the SGS3 will have it will have to be an upgrade from the SGS2 and because of that, I will be on it!
Hello first I would like to thank you for taking the time to view my thread, it means a lot to me. I appreciate the community. I will cut to the chase.
I am thinking about adding a new line to my plan for my little sister. She is currently on MetroPCS and we figured I could save more by adding a plan to my line (about 15 bucks)
What made this so enticing is that I could possibly upgrade my phone and give her my current phone. I currently have a t-mobile hercules galaxy s2 and I love it. I have owned it for 8 months and its just been so great. Never had an issue and then flashed a rom that made it perfect.
I don't know what to do... should I upgrade and get the Samsung Galaxy s3 and give my younger sister my S2?? She is 15 and I was planning on giving her the Blaze 4G but the development for that phone is rubbish.
She has saved 150 for her new phone so I would just have to pay the rest.
What would you do?
Edit: Can I somehow transfer my text messages from my s2 to my s3 with titanium backup???????
Get the s3

Ditch the s2 mate. The s3 is better in every way possible. Actually the one thing I think the t989 wins in is aesthetics. The s3 is a bad ass phone but I don't like the way it looks. To me it looks like a miniature Samsung TV.. and I think Samsung TVs are ugly. Just my 2 cents lol

If you can get an s3 for (effectively) $40, go for it. While I'm happy with my s2, I wanted the s3. I just couldn't justify the extra $120 over the s2.

Let me start off by saying the s3 is a great phone Ive had 3 of them but if you look at them wrong you will break the glass. Im very careful with my phones but somehow i managed to break 2 of the screens in 2 weeks. Do a search on it, it seems to be a real common thing. Also development is a little slow for it, seems like the tmobile version is like the red headed step child of the variants. I ended up selling the 3rd one I got and came back to the s2 with no regrets.
S3 looks terrible and is fragile. Though it does have advantages I still like my s2 better

The tmobile s2 is the read headed stepchild of its variants. The tmobile s3, on the other hand, is the same as its variants. But it has had a JB leak so it has better development than the others.

Your phone still has a decent resale value. Or.. It did until T-Mobile and Walmart made it available for $299.

I would personally go for the s3. And use sms backup for your texts. Especially if you're going from one phone to a different phone, titanium message restores cause the messaging app to crash.

Funny how we were saying the same thing about the tmobile vibrant (original galaxy s and only variant to not get gingerbread). For whatever reason, Samsung and t mobile have a history of treating their galaxy variants like red headed stepchildren.
Can we really be surprised if the trend continues?

If I could only take the S4 SoS, 2Gb of RAM, Super Amoled HD screen.......and the multi-color notification led.. cram it into my t989.. Id be set..
I really don't care for the build of the SGIII but its internal hardware packs a nice punch... exterior is garbage

I just want all the software goodies, and functionality. My s2x is fast enough. Its probably faster than the soon to be released ip5. Having my son's ip4s, my i4, and my gs2x side by side, my galaxy beat both quite easily in real world use age.

Im waiting to see what this fall brings. Im pretty tempted by the possibility of Wireless charging for the Lumias. The charging port on my S2 got messed up somehow and charges VERY slowly as a result.

I uhhh.. find that very hard to believe. The CPU in the iPhone 4s and upcoming i5 run circles around the old s3 chip in this phone. Not trying to defend Apple or anything but the CPU in the t989 is a boat compared to the normal exynos 4 in the other GSIIs.

Please people stop calling it SGS3 or S3, because it's none, the real S3 is Quad core
Tmo USA version is Dual core, and it's called SGH-T999 or T999 for short
if you already own the T989 there's no point getting the T999
if you don't yet have a T989 then get the T999
the minor upgrade is not worth it

I think 4 gb of ram should be the minimum.

I thought they already announced that a gs4 won't come out next year, I mean people that bought the S3 would be disappointed, especially if their locked into a contract. Not to say that I wouldn't mind paying full price. Plus 2gigs of ram is not bad, most phones are still playing catch up with the S3, just look at the iphone hahaha
There must be some feature that eats a ton of ram for them to put 3gigs

Hah, prepare to be disappointed.
I'm gonna guess it'll just be a minor upgrade...
1.8Ghz Tegra 4/Exynos CPU
Standard 8MP camera
2 or 3GB of RAM
4.8" or 5" 720p SAMOLED++ screen, can't say whether they'll use PenTile or not.
One thing it should have is at least 2GB ddr3 maybe even a 128GB storage model, I'm sure the iphone6 will use these parts and Sammy may as well to, since they wIll be the first to produce them in a mobile chip
It needs a usb port on the top and bottom too.
That would be awesome.

Of course people in the HTC camp are gonna hate. Samsung pulls out all the stops. Bring on the 3GB!
They need to do away with ex_sdcard... what's more external than dropbox? add 32 gb of internal and your good.
Well they probably will make it into quad core since the note 2 will come with the exynos chip. They finally support lte. I would still wait for the next galaxy though.
Blasphemy! A new phone coming out that's faster than my phone?! Omg
6in screen with 4gb would be nice.

Ah the eternal debate. I like expandable storage that doesn't rely on a good connection to access my stuff. Hey freeza, how are you liking the s3 so far?

I like external storage too. They just need to find a better way to utilize it when having large internal storage as well.
Oh, and this is easily the best phone I've owned. I say that about almost every phone I get, but I was just kidding myself if I ever said it with the EVO 3D and EVO 4G. I haven't had one issue with this phone since I bought it. I would have had to already return any HTC phone for some reason or another and I did with the EVO 3D, 4G, and LTE. 3D had screen separation issues, 4G developed a random spot, and the LTE had a weird lighting problem towards the bottom that looked like a string of LEDs were at the bottom of my screen.
I have the evo lte and was thinking about switching to the sg3, I'm not really a fan of the hardware button though. I can't decide that's why I wanted your opinion, I've used your stuff since the original evo.
Anyone else underwhelmed with Galaxy S4 news? Hopefully some of the UI tweaks make their way to the Note II but otherwise Note II better than the S4. Matter of fact the S4 looks like a mini version of the Note II.

Not really. Although it may look the same it has about the same or best features as the one. This phone is great and for those that have a note 2 it may not be that much of an update but for s3 owners it's a decent upgrade. But with lots of the software updates from s4 coming to s3 this phone is more of a phone for those trying Sammy for the first time. In the end this phone is a sure competition to the htc one.

I personally don't see the upgrade for S3 owners but definitely see it for S2 owners. I was hoping for more wow factor since the S series and Note series are typically pretty close to each other save a few small differences.
If this is what Samsung will put out in 2013, I'm waiting until the Note 4.

I have the S2 but I don't know.. I don't really see the need to have all those features. Plus the US variant not having OCTA is a deal breaker for me. The Exynos Chip is amazing.

This. S3 users will be pretty silly to get this upgrade unless money is no object for them. I do like a few this though. The white version for example is not just white it looks like it has a textured face. And the Window for the flip cover. The biggest update would be the AC wifi. I wish the Note 2 had that.
Also anyone catch that it has an IR LED? That's sweet if it does.

Im curious to see if the s4 can be rooted easily because of the new Samsung knox software. It seems like its gonna be hard to flash roms and such cause the features of knox is to shut the phone down if unauthorized software is found. Also the kernel has secure boot on it. Any thoughts on this guys?

I'm really disappointed that they didn't focus on improving design and build quality. I love my Note 2 but will definitely hold out if the Note 3 is just a spec'd up update. It's awesome that the battery is removable and a SD card can be used, but I really believe they could used more premium parts in place of the chrome strip and plastic cover. If struggling HTC is capable of creating a gorgeously designed phone, then Samsung -with all it's resources and money - can definitely design a well-crafted, premium device.
But I am looking forward to the Note 3 and the new features the device will include. I just hope the device doesn't get any bigger (if it does, i hope it's not significantly noticeable) and includes more premium parts. Can you imagine the Note with an aluminum, removable battery cover and a premium chrome belt?
The plastic adds less weight and makes the screen less prone to breaking. I have dropped my phone numerous of times and never had to replace my screen. More weigh equals more weight which equals more mass and force when you drop your phone.
I believe Samsung's goal is to make their phone light and durable. If I had a choice of either protecting my screen or my phone cover I rather had a phone with some nicks than a cracked screen.

13 MP back facing camera, internal storage space of up to 64GB, 1.9 GHz Snapdragon cpu. It's a little better than ours LOL
The Smart Scroll feature is pretty cool. I also like that it can tell if you are watching a video and if you look away from the screen it will auto pause. It comes with 4.2.2 so hopefully it can be easily ported to our Note II

Exynos chip is more optimized . Having it in the s2 you should know. Use the US variant of the s3 vs the international, it is just smoother with the exynos. So that's why its a deal breaker. Not going to settle for less. I really don't care for LTE.
