[Q] Problems with Galaxy Gio - Samsung Galaxy Gio GT-S5660

Hi there, I purchased my Galaxy Gio from eBay with Android 2.3.7 and cyanogenmod 7 installed. But the battery runs out way too fast. So I wanted to downgrade to 2.3.4 stock optus rom. The main problem is my computer cannot detect my Gio, it detects my brothers Galaxy gio with Kies and my dads Galaxy s, but not mine. I've tried switching debuging mode, nothing. So when I get to the part to flash with odin it says please connect phones and theres no notificaions about a usb plugged in, it just charges. Also I put it into download mode to flash and no detection by odin. So can someone please help out, it would be appreciated.

hi bro
it happen when your driver not installed
if u use win7 or 8 connect your device then windows automaticaly download your driver
or u could download driver "samsung android driver"
for odin cause this driver

I don't think installing the drivers is the problem. Because Kies automatically installs them and my brothers gio is detected by the computer.

Hmm have u tryed to connect ur phone in other USB ports so when the computer says 'installling device driver...' it will automatically install kies driver

If you plug your Gio in download mode, with Winz0z 7/8 driver will be installed. Driver for being detected by the PC in download mode is different from USB mode one because also baseband will be changed with Odin.
Also, Kies, unless you use stock, won't detect your phone. Sorry.

Can you attach phone as "USB mass storage" after connecting to USB? (through Notification area on top of mainscreen)

[Q] Computer won't recognize my SGS2; how do I return to stock?

I can't get USB mounting to work on my linux PC, windows PC, or work windows laptop.
The computer completely fails to recognize the phone, even when I manually tell it to connect as usb storage device.
I've tried three different USB cables.
ODIN mode isn't recognized either, no USB devices are detected and Odin does not display an ID for the phone.
So WTF do I do know? I believe I need to return to stock firmware but I don't know how without using Odin.
You need to download the drivers for your computer in order for it to read your device. I believe its somewhere here in the forums if not Google it. I would post a link but I'm not on my computer

You can download the drivers from the how to root thread in the dev section.

Are you using the original samsung cable? Mine refuses to be recognized by my pc's if it's not the original cable, works fine with the original but the system never picks it up with any others.

Did you try installing Kies SW from the Samsung site? Installing this SW will also install all of the appropriate drivers on your PC.

Galaxy S 3 (III / I747) Charging but no drivers are installing

Evening amazing people of XDA-Developers!!!!!
My issue is that my Galaxy S 3 (III / I747) charges when plugged in via usb but no drivers are installing. I am unable to see my phone via MTP or Odin (to flash roms or root), my phone does not show me any way of changing the MTP or the other option when plugged in via the phone itself.
It is 2 days old from Costco. I have installed the drivers via "Samsung GS3 QCom ToolKit" and "Kies" with no success.
Thanks and hope I can get this figured out.

What's your operating system? I'm On Windows 8 64 bit and I had to manually install the drivers (clicking on the driver installer) you might also want to try install as administrator and teen off UAC on your PC

I had a similar issue where it was installing as a modem instead of a phone. I manually installed the phone drivers after uninstalling everything
and rebooted, then it started working correctly.

You're never prevented flashing by not using a computer unless you stick with Odin only, even then you have Mobile Odin. Read above and see if it works. Neither of you stated the OS used and causing the problem.

I had this problem when i tried to update S3 from ics to jellybean with NEW install of kies. Had to go to windows settings and untick auto update( i set it to ask me every time) and reinstall kies. Windows auto update seemed to be updating what kies had installed. After this my drivers installed as soon as I plugged in my S3 although windows update does now show 2 samsung update available, I just don't allow the updates.
Hope this helps

I had the same issue, after getting in contact with samsung, all i had to do was turn off the phone, remove the battery, wait 60 seconds and re install battery. after that worked perfectly.
Install Samsung Kies. That will fix the driver issues and it should appear in ODIN after that. That's how it worked for me.

Running Windows 7 Ultimate x64... I have done the following to hopefully alleviate the issue I am having but with no success:
System restored...
Installed KIES...
Used the toolkit...
The only thing that works is charging... even running in Odin, the computer does not recognize the phone... where are the drivers so I can manually install them?

Which OS are you using? I am using Windows 8 on my gaming PC and when i plug in my phone with download mode odin doesn't recognize it, but when i plug in the phone with download mode on my laptop (running WIndows 7 64 bit) It recognizes it instantly. I think you should try that ,and also check if you have drivers installed

Are you using Odin or Odin multi downloader. And what does it say when you connect your phone? Does the computer play the sound when something is plugged in or it doesn't respond at all?

i can second that, galaxy tab 3 7.0 needs the cable that came with it, generic won't do, something with the pins in device.
as for kies after you install and run it first time with tab and proper cable then uninstall kies from your system but leave drivers.
alternately seach for samsung usb drivers only and install them instead of kies, then get odin going.
