CM10 Frozen statusbar clock workaround - Defy General

Hi,
It´s been a little while since my last post here, and i noticed that Quarx´s CM10 thread is closed. So i´m creating this new thread to share this workaround.
I went to a long period without CM10, and now i gave it another try with the latest build of CM10 (20121118). But, everytime i "wake up" my phone, the statusbar is showing a wrong time.
I just installed a widget called "MIUI Dark Digital Weather Clock" and now my statusbar clock works without "lags". Maybe it works with any clock widget...
P.S.:This app is not mine, and i don´t know the developer.
I don´t know if i misused the search tool, but i didn´t see any post with a workaround for this issue. My only will is to help.

[Q] Clock App Issues

This is going to seem petty, but it is something that really bothers me. The clock app does not show up in the app drawer. The only way I can access it is by doing a google search. Furthermore, when I long press the search button do do a voice command, one of my favorite functions on my rooted eris was that I could tell it to "set alarm" for a time. When I do this on the Inc2 however it tells me that in order to use the "set alarm" feature, i need to download a clock app from the market that supports that feature. Is anyone else having this issue, because if you are, this is some mad poor integration. However if I just got a botched Inc2 I have no problem picking up another one. If this is an issue, we should write HTC, because it seems very weird to me that the app doesn't even show up in the drawer. Love to hear what all of you brilliant software tycoons have to say about this.
Capcoward
if u have the stock weather widget on ur home screen and u press the clock and not the weather part of it, it will bring up the app to set alarm. I found it odd that there was no "clock" app as well in the app drawer. kinda pissed actually.
I was thinking the same thing about not having the "Clock" app in the drawer. I remember when 2.2 was coming out and the video kept showing the guy using voice search to set his alarm. Then when it actually came out you had to download a separate Clock that allowed you to do it. Kind of lame actually, but hopefully we'll get gingerbread soon. But I'm hoping the phone gets rooted before then. :: fingers crossed ::
I found the original article from Droid-Life about where to download the clock app that makes this work:
Desk Clock

[Q] where's my alarm clock?

What happened? I use my alarm clock everyday..and today it disappeared. I downloaded Alarm Clock Extreme at some point, cause I read that people had problems with the alarm function disappearing, but I didn't have a problem till this morning. What gives...and how do I get it back, without wipping out the phone?if there is no fix..then I will just keep using the program I downloaded in case of emergency
Thanks
AJ
I know the OTA 2.3.3 update broke a lot of peoples phone (including mine). What ROM are you running?
I dont know but in my incredible 2 if i touch the big clock i could see the alarm and the weather.if you dont have the big clock you can go to personalise and you can find the alarm clock. I have skyrider rom.
If you have rooted your Inc 2, and using titanium backup, you can get the clock back by going into the backup/restore section and scroll down till you see clock.
click on it and hit the the defrost button. Restart and you will have your clock back.
If not rooted... Sometimes a hard reset will work, but it will be like starting all over again with your phone.
It's an ongoing issue, the app is still there but the icon disappears. One easy way to get it back is to download Any Cut from the market (it's free) and use that to create a new shortcut to the clock app. Once you do that, the icon will be there to stay, it won't be affected by whatever bug causes the app's original icon to disappear.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
I am running a stock from. I haven't done anything g to the phone. It was working after the update, but all of a suddened it stopped working.
This issue was brought up a while back on XDA here. And is also being tracked on HTC's own forums here.
From the looks of it HTC hasn't yet released an update :-/

[Q] Pinpointing "home screen" to "apps drawer" transition problem

Hi, first post.
I'm having trouble pinpointing exactly what is causing this problem on my GN (CDMA/LTE).
When I press the "apps drawer" icon, all my widgets and icons produce this follow-up black outlining. It's not so noticeable on icons and most widgets; however, when you look at the black-transparent calendar, it produces this black rectangular box. Upon rebooting the phone, the problem doesn't seem to appear for the first few seconds but eventually does appear.
I tried looking around for the issue, but couldn't find the solution to it because I was not sure exactly how to describe the problem. So sorry if this was already answered
I am running a custom rom, kernel, and launcher.
They are:
AOKP (toro) - milestone 1
Nova Launcher - beta 8
franco.Kernel - nightly #10
I have a feeling that it is due to the Nova Launcher as changing some settings makes the problem disappear for the first few seconds (and then reappear).
A solution to the problem would be great too! Thank you!
Found out that using the "news" widget whether it's from a standalone news widget or the weather+news widget causes the slow choppy, outlining effect.
How to still use it without the effect, I'm not sure.
think your gonna need to post some pictures here, i honestly can't figure out what your trying to describe.
press power and volume down to take a screenshot, or use a camera and post it.

Google Now Notifications

I'm using Ericwill's unofficial CM10 rom and I have no notification icons in the status bar... However, when I pull down the notification drawer the card (weather, time to work) is in fact in there... Is there any way to get back the car icon or the cloud icon?
just a thought but have you check to make sure google now is actually on when you click search button and Google comes up hit menu/ settings and make sure its clicked on

Just curious, do you get the icons for cards in your status bar?
yes i see all the cards and lil cloud on mine ...but im not running what are you bro thats why i say might just be a bug or something with your rom we all have different set ups with can differ on all parts
Its a known issue for quite a few people. Actually I dont know anyone who runs cm10 that actually has it working properly. I just stop being bothered with it a while ago and moved on... Hopefully someone figures out exactly whats wrong

[Q] status bar clock + clock widget freeze

Hi,
i got a strange problem with my S4 mini (I9195) with CM11 (20140505; snapshot M6).
On my device the clock in the status bar and the widget one stops working every now and then. This doesn't apply to the lockscreen-clock. If i rotate the screen, the clocks get updated and show the correct time - the clock keeps frozen though (it doesn't work further until the next screen-rotation).
I've got the date+clock set automatically via network. If i set it manually, the status bar clock gets updated, but not the widget (just unticking "auto set clock" is not enough, i have to "set clock".). Still, the clock won't keep working, it will just stay frozen till the next rotation.
I found already a few descriptions of this phenomenon on the internet, but nothing here on xda and no solution either.
Please, if anybody knows a solution, it would be most welcome.
regards,
d4foasta
if my problem isn't that difficult to solve or if i made some error i don't know it. Do i have to post logs? I came here because i have a problem with my s4 mini and i can't post in the developer-thread.

There was this issue in the s3 mini forum too, i think they said it's cm11 related.. you can check this thread for their solutions, some deleted a file etc. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2521593
It's a very common problem there
Did you ever solve this? I'd rather not sift through 500 pages of comments to find the solution, I'm having the same issue.
