So my Verizon gnex won't charge past 59%, is that leading to the charging port going out or the battery going whack. Thanks in advance for any input.

If battery is over a year old, could be, especially if doing full charges more than once a day. There is a limit to how many full charging cycles the battery can take.
That was my first thought, but its the stock battery that was replaced by an extended battery within weeks after purchasing the phone around launch time

So does this happen with both batteries?

I've had my E4GT for maybe ten months and my battery is just horrible now. I have tried a variety of different ROMs and I'm currently running goodness and I used to get great battery life out of it (full day with heavy use) and then it just started going bad. Now I have to charge every seven hours or so. And my screen flickers (as if my batterys out of juice) and my phone powers off and when I reboot, it is usually significantly lower in percentage or below 5% and this happens on a variety of ROMs as well but it seems like its gone because I formatted SD (formatted a few hours ago so dont know for sure). I am most likely going to buy a new standard battery but I want to make sure that it's a bad battery. Thanks
If you take the battery out is it swollen? You can spin it pretty good if it is swollen. My battery went bad around ten months, just took it to a Sprint repair store and they gave me a new one.

Actually now that you mention it, it doesn't seem to fit properly into the compartment and it looks like the bottom left side is sticking out more (when you look at it from the side at eye level). Also, when I put the back cover on, it requires more to close and fit properly

I would just go to the Sprint store, your phone is under a year old so it is still covered under the Samsung warrenty.

So it is the battery and not my phone right?

Probably. This seems to be happening a lot lately.
Get a couple Anker batteries off amazon. I grabbed two with a charger for $15. Awesome batteries

Yeah I was searching around and I saw a few people having the same problems. Some suggested to format the SD card so I tried it and the reboot problem persisted. Most likely the battery

Yeah it's probably your battery, I am a heavy user, my battery didn't even last a year. I had screen flicker, reboots, fast charge and discharge cycles, weird things happen when the battery is going.

Yep I am getting all of that. Ordered a new OEM battery and hoping it was my battery and not my phone. Thanks for your help

Might be a dumb question, but did you try calibrating it?

Even dumber question, how does one calibrate the battery? I just got a brand new E4GT and I'm lucky if I can make it seven hours. Is it just charging it fully then clearing battery stats in rec?

That's the thing. You shouldn't need to calibrate a lithium ion battery. Complete drains are actually bad for them.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Removing battery stats is not calibrating. To calibrate just charge the phone to full and after a couple cycles it will optimize itself.

Wow seven hours? Are you on stock? When I first got my E4GT and was running stock, non rooted, I could last the whole day . And just let it charge all the way but don't let your phone die. That's not good for the battery

Even being rooted with some of the amazing ROM's out there and a year and a half old phone/battery I can get around 18 hours without recharging

I recently got a new battery and the difference is crazy. My phone started really freaking out before I replaced mine––screen glitching, reboots, not booting, etc.
Just wanted to know how much time galaxy nexus takes to charge from low battery to full from the stock charger. I am talking about AC charging not USB. Thanks.

From 15 % still remaining to 100 %, i would say 2.5 hours (more or less) with stock battery and with occasional use on the side.

That just sucks I dont understand why samsung phones take so long to charge. Sony, LG and apple phones charge in less than an hour.
I have a nexus S which takes the same amount of time and its really frustrating when you see others can just go for a shower and their phone will be fully charged when they come out.

That sounds impossible, mine takes 3 hours on ac and 4 hours on usb.
Hi, I have read here that some are doing this. What would be the effect of this on the battery life, as it usually takes only about 3 hours to charge to full. Thanks
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
There's no effect, it's fine. The phone knows when to stop charging.
agreed - I've been doing this with my phone every night since the G1 days with no problems
:good:
No overheating or whatever? Okay thanks. Nice to know that.

the charging micro will turn off supply to the battery when it is 'charged' so nothing to worry about at all
Yeah when the phone gets to 100% it will disconnect until 98% then start charging again.

I think this is a base android feature, even my TF101 tablet does this when it's on the dock. It'll discharge until about 96% then start re-charging.
Got my new N7 today. After I charged the battery to 100%, it remains at 100%. I have it on for 3 hours now and it still says 100%. Anyone else experiencing this? Thanks.
So they weren't kidding about good battery life
Try restarting?
Deep sleep is beautiful on the Nexus 7.

So why complaining...? Don't we all wish the battery to remain 100%......?

I'm wondering if they're thinking that it's not accurately reflecting what the battery level actually is.

thanks for pointing that out. I really didn't know it.
the thing is, prolly the device is doing some good deep sleep, with no radio to disturb the battery.
cell radio often takes about 25-30 % of battery. with no radio, no battety drain.
My tablet has been at 25-30 for about 8 hours now with light use. Network activity is minimal during this time.

No worries ...the battery life is jus amazing on this device is all....I was shocked after first cycle...compared to my other nexus devices and even my 10' this is great...

I upgraded my Verizon Galaxy Nexus to 4.3 a few days ago, and just checked "adb logcat -d" and searched for signs of fstrim running to see how much space had been cleared via the new TRIM support only to find that it hasn't yet run. Any ideas why it hasn't run yet? I've had it charged to full a few times since the install, and haven't used it for several hours at a time.
Is there a way to force it to run? (or any thoughts why it hasn't run yet?) I'm looking forward to a snappier device (hopefully)!
Thanks!
It only runs when charging and its above 70% and is idle for at least 1 hour.

That's just it.. I've charged it overnight since I installed it a few days ago and it hasn't run, despite being above 70%, idle for several hours, and charging.

Try fancy kernel. It has it built into the kernel itself. So it should run when you charge it again.
