I just ordered an Epic 4G Touch from Credo Mobile which should arrive next week. They use the Sprint network and I believe the phone comes from Credo with all of the Sprint apps and bloat. I will want to root soon after I activate it and would like to know the best method to root it and recommended ROM. While i am not a total noob to rooting I would probably need an easy fairly foolproof method (I rooted a Verizon Samsung Fascinate and have installed a lot of different ROMs on it).
One thing people really hate here is when new threads are posted with questions that could easily be answered by doing a simple search. I am not one of those people, just giving you the heads up.
Check the stickies in the dev section, the autoroot is awesome and completely fool proof. I've used it 6 times now.

MetalHead,
thanks for posting the link to the stickies. However, there are many, many pages of stickies and I'm not sure what you are referring to when you say "autoroot". Can you please be more specific as to what root method you used? Are you referring to the (Zedomax) (ACS) thread? I have not read all 40 pages, but it seems that people are having some issues with this method.
Please help shed some light on which method you used.
thanks,
Neil
I got my phone last night and used the method in this thread; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342728
Seems to work great. Now I have to figure out which ROM I want to use or leave it the way it is.
mobile hotspot
I'm assuming that if you root you can get mobile hotspot to work even though Credo says they don't 'support it'. Correct?

The stickies are just the first group of threads in a section, they are permanently at the top of the list and are designated by a pin to show that they are "pinned" to the top of the page. The auto root is the first thread there. It is perfectly safe, and very easy. All it is is a simple program you run on your windows machine that roots your phone for you. As I stated before I have used it numerous times without any problems at all. Here is the direct link to that thread- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342728

The unlocked mobile hotspot as of now requires a custom deodexed ROM to work but you can use Wireless Tether for Root Users for wifi tethering. The downside to that is you can only create an ad hoc network but the upside is it works with 4G whereas the mobile hotspot does not. Here's the link- http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/

custom deodexed rom? What is deodexed?
So you're saying I have two options?
an ad hoc network? What does that mean?
How does this compare to the "portable wifi hotspot" on my LG G2x?
Thanks so much,

so are you saying that this combination of radio/rom will get wireless hotspot working?
Basically I just want to confirm that this can be done before I make the switch.

It works BUT I haven't tried it extensively and I read in one of the threads that at least one person got a popup from Sprint saying that service was not part of their package.

Hey Itzbob,
I'm about to do the exact same thing - ordered my Galaxy S II epic 4g touch from credo and will get in the next few days, adn thought i'd do some research to see if anyone's done this before - I got the links for the rooting (thanks _MetalHead_), and that seems easy enough. now that it's beedn about a week since you put the new ROM, do you like it? fast? battery life, etc? also, and this is a total Noob question - did you have to do anything with APN settings and the like to get it to work? I come from the iPhone jeailbreaking/unlocking world, and this will be my first root/ and flashing ROM. since I'm gettinga new phone, i'd love to just do this right away, instead of using it, and then wiping off stuff when i flash it.
any advice appreciated!
Sorry for the delayed reply I've been on vacation. As for questions... Battery life is just ok but I am a heavy user. Rooting only without the custom ROM gave me excellent battery life. So far I have also had 2 complete crashes with Calks ROM so make sure you have titanium backup. I wish I knew what caused the crashes, seems like a few apps don't play nice but I haven't been able to pinpoint which ones.
It is fast! Gps, 4G, everything seems to work great.

If anyone is still following this thread... I updated to Calks 2.5.1a Rom, EL13 AND the most important part flashed the Stock Android hosts file from Calkulin http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=772217&d=1320463525
and my phone works awesomely well. I was having freezes and random reboots and the stock hosts file fixed it.
I still havent tested the hotspot but will be next week when i am working in the field and I will report back.

First of all, thank you so much for your posts, they have been extremely helpful to me so far!
My main question for you is: are there no extra procedures or APN settings or anything at all for a Credo Mobile Galaxy S 2 vs a Sprint S 2?
And in regards to your Credo S 2 --If not, can I just run sfhub's One-Click ODIN with the stock EL13 Modem, Kernel, and ROM for the E4GT (rooted), then do option c3 with Auto Root to get CWM, to allow changing to Calkulin's E4GT v2.5.1a ROM and it's kernel, while keeping the stock EL13 Modem? Can you run the 2.6 ROM as well as the 2.5.1a ROM? Any reason not to run the newer one?
Also can you return you phone to returnable stock from it's current state?
Thanks for any help you can provide! What you guys are doing in this thread is like the only source for Credo S 2 info that I am aware of.
Alright members of the I957 community, I know it's been a long time coming, but I'm proud to (finally) present to you a custom ROM designed specifically for our devices: Contingency! There are a couple of things I need to rattle off in this description before I can get down to business. 1. Due to some error in updater-scripts causing incredible lag with CWM flashes, this ROM is Odin-based only. If you aren't very good with Odin/need a refresher, look down below for a quick little tutorial to help get you started. 2. Due to my lack of an actual cellular data account for this device, it's difficult for me to tell you whether or not the data is working... I'm 99% it is functional in this build, but in future builds I may need a tester to discern for me.
Features & Added Apps
Da_g's OC Kernel
CWM Recovery
Rooted
Zipaligned
Deodexed
Bloat Removed
Build.prop performance tweaks
System Tuner for OC/UV
Titanium Backup
Go Launcher HD (If you're a Touchwiz hater)
As you can probably see, this is a very bland ROM right now; I just had my first successful Odin flash of it yesterday, and the testing lead all the way up to today.
Stuff To Add/Do (Taking Suggestions)
Extended Power Menu
CRT-Off
Bravia
Xloud
Edit Name in build.prop
Put data monitor back in
Theming
Due to my little experience in the world of Tablet modding, I could really use some help as to what you guys would like to see in future builds of Contingency.
Instructions For Odin Flash (It's In Red Because It's Important)
A data wipe is optional, but I recommend it.
Download the .rar of Contingency from the link below
Extract out "Contingency vX.tar" to a place you'll remember it
Open up Odin
Navigate to your Contigency.tar and load it into the PDA slot
Make sure your Tab is in download mode (Power Button + Both Volumes)
MAKE SURE RE-PARTITION IS UNCHECKED!!!!!!111!!!!!111?!?!?!!11!11!%[email protected]^#
Hit start
Go grab a snack, sit back, and watch that progress bar
Screenshots
Look at your Stock Tab... Now back to me. Unfortunately, I'm not your stock tab, but that's what Contingency looks like.

if you want wifi hotpost use quick tether from market. it activate usb and wifi tethering.
I'm gonna charge mine up for a little bit and try this rom out later. I only got 30% charge currently.
Bought mine used a couple of months ago. Still has an active SIM in it from the original purchasers account. Guess the termination fee was too steap or they needed the cash and decided to live with the $30 a month
I mainly use it on wifi but will test it out on ATT network to see. I just pop it on once in a while to see if it's still active. Just checked and it was!
If it's a nogo I can just use Odin with the original rom from ATT/Samsung? I already have it downloaded as I've use it twice to reset mine.
Waiting for ICS sucks!
Does this still have the ATT data monitor app?
Thanks!

No issues with flashing the rom. First bootup was a little scary as it stayed on the Android animation screeen for a while. Wound up doing a factory reset once up and running to clear up some issues. Seems to get more responsive after it sits for a while and after a couple of reboots. Had a couple of issues with updating the app store and maps but it seemed to work itself out after a couple of tries.
ATT data is functional for those who are interested. I don't live in a LTE area but it's getting closer by the month.
ATT data monitor app is gone. No biggy but was nice to see how much free data I have left....Hoping original owner keeps my data plan going!
Active applications widget can be added but only clicks when touched. Guess the app is no longer included....No big deal just thought I'd mention it.
Looks like there is alot of stuff to play around with as far as tweaks go. Not sure what they all do but guess I'll check them out later.
Thanks again!
I'll let you guys know if I see anything else that is worth mentioning.

Now that you mention the AT&T data monitor app from the tablet, (poster above) I was trying to get the app working on the galaxy note and I failed. I installed the apk from the tablet to the Galaxy Note via Titanium and manually... I see the app and the widget on the Note perfectly, but I am unable to link it to my phone data plan... Any ideas? I was able to get to a screen were is asking for some credentials that are out of my hands... I guess they are AT&T credentials for my account in order to set or link the monitoring app...

It would be best to save a copy of your nandroid backup somewhere safe like on your computer just in case you need it later. Not sure if Odin will nuke it or not. My tab was pretty much stock when I flashed it today as I used Odin to restore the stock rom a couple of weeks ago. If I remember correctly a folder in root is no longer there. Not 100% sure what it was called but I'm thinking it was preloaded or preinstalled. Not needed anyways as it was ATT apps/bloatware if I remember correctly.
I'm not sure about the rom failing and nandroid back thing. Maybe somebody else knows forsure.
I'm thinking if you for some reason don't like this rom you'd have to maybe use Odin to flash the stock rom back first, then install the kernel you were using and then move the nandroid back to the tab if it was deleted and then flash it back.
As soon as there is a link to download the original Stock AT&T ROM I will be installing this ROM...

Ive been looking around and researching on how to get wifi calling on AOSP roms. I have made what I believe to be a big discovery. T-mobile now uses IMS for newer android phones, which is UMA/sip etc. I decompiled the ims-service.apk from the stock DLJA rom. I found an XML that contains the settings to use the service! You can get the IMS installer from here http://code.google.com/p/the-ims-open-source-project-for-android/
I put the settings into the app and tried connecting but it came up with ER05, invalid SIM card. I googled that and it I get leads to saying that the sim isn't authenticated for WIFI calling. I know that it is, because it works fine on stock roms. I've also attached a logcat of me attempting to connect. I've attempted to change some of the info of the strings to reflect my personal phone number but that did not change anything.

So I took part in a survey this morning sent from T-Mobile. They had some very interesting questions pertaining to Wi-Fi Calling and AOSP ROMS, specifically if I was running on a rooted device, and if I was able to get Wi-Fi calling enabled on whatever ROM I was using. They had other questions about Wi-Fi Calling and how much I would use it, etc...Apparently they're recognizing the community and are starting to ask the right questions. I like this line of thinking!

Let us not assume they are asking these questions to try and help us.. Everything T-Mobile has ever demonstrated toward the hacking community was finding ways to prevent or patch and progress made.. like they're going to assist us with tethering or wifi calling on custom ROMs.. not going to happen.. They are probably asking so they can investigate how it is working on an AOSP ROM and patch the exploit..

Subject: Problem w/(4G?)-HotSpot hack on "WILD FOR THE NIGHT" CM10.1-20130316-d710 (base-band version EK02)
So, I was recently *given* a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7" (p3113, WiFi only) by a buddy of mine, for helping him out with some significant things in real life. I know right? Very cool of my buddy. I'm in love with the tablet still (honeymoon period). It's not brand-new, but its new to me, so of course the first thing I did was root it, wipe it clean, and install unofficial a CM10.2 nightly build w/working IR from 080913. I'm staying on 080913 build since it's the latest build that supports TabletUI.zip, via Nova Launcher, which I also love by the way. Anyway, this tablet is the PERFECT compliment to my Sprint E4GT "Spider-Man Edition" (cracked screen, long story)
So, this recent tablet acquisition has given me reason to use the hotspot built into CM10.1, on my phone, under "Settings|More|Tethering & Portable Hotspot|Portable WiFi HotSpot. I had assumed up to this point that CM10.1 on my phone had the 4G hotspot hack pre-installed, but alas, when I use it to tether my tablet to get internet access on the tablet, only 3G mobile data appears to be working.
What gives with this? It'd been a while since I've been keeping up with the E4GT ROM/hack scene, so is there some hack zip that I need to install in order to take advantage of tethering and 4G on this ROM? Thanks will be given in multitude for any assistance. Thanks.

I use this when I'm on slimbean or other aosp ROMs..never tried it with cm.. But should work. https://www.dropbox.com/s/rwew4y39t3f6pns/wifi-tether-gnex-4.2.2.apk. ... You will have to set it up for the epic in its setting.. Then play around with it a little.. I think I posted my settings somewhere.. I'll find the post and link it..

Here is the link.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2375899&page=4 .... Post 34.. Hope this helped..
Edit... finally found out who made this app... TrevE....so thank him if it works for you
This appears to work as you said!! (Thanks given to your reply)
I configured the first option in the settings menu of this app for "Sprint Epic 4G Touch, and also enabled "Access Control" (whatever that means, care to explain that for me?) and, low-and-behold, turning on 4G is no longer ignored by this new hotspot app, like it is by the stock CM10.1 hotspot app. SpeedTest.Net confirms that 4G is actually in use. The differences in speed between 3G and 4G are only marginal at best in many locations, but that is on Sprint's crappy WiMax 4G implementation, and not the fault of the hotspot app you linked me to. With the SpeedTest.Net app, I'm getting about 0.8Mb/s average download speed while sitting at my desk in my office (indoors), when only 3G is enabled on the phone. but I'm getting about 1.7Mb/s when using this newly-suggested hotspot app with 4G enabled on the phone. So clearly it's working, and that that extra 1Mb/s (or sometimes slightly more) can be the difference between smooth video playback on YouTube (or whatever video app), versus frequent pausing for buffering when watching a video link sent by a friend to my phone. It's also makes Google Maps and Google Navigation much faster AND more responsive when I'm on the interstate, where the 4G coverage is generally pretty good here in the DFW area. SO, I'll kjeep you posted if I run across any major bugs,m but this suggestion appears to allow to now tether by tablet to my phone with actual 4G WiMax. Thank you SO much for your suggestions and links!
Your loyal "thanker" from now on,

Thanks for the kind words... Being able to help someone out is the part I most enjoy about this site.. You can let me know about any issues you have , but just to make sure you know.. This isn't my app.. Just found a drop box link while looking for myself and others and it worked. I'm still not sure who made it..lol. It might say in the app, but I'm not currently using it as I'm on projectX ROM and its tether works great..
Hey there... thanks for the follow-up. Still working like a champ bro, AND it does something else that the stock tethering app doesn't do: it allows the ability to only allow "Approved devices" (by MAC address) to connect, in addition to (or I think even instead of) setting a WPA2 password. It even shows you in the phone's notification bar which approved devices are currently connected, and plays a custom notification sound when an unapproved device attempts to connect. Combine that with a home screen widget for 1-touch toggling, and the MacroDroid app set up to automatically turn on data and 4G when the tether app is turned on, and this is now officially the coolest thing on my phone. I know you didn't create it (nor did you ever claim to), but you did link me to an app that ended up exceeding my wildest expectations. THANK YOU BROTHER.

Will this work on a rooted yet stock 4g? FWIW I'm not running Touchwiz I've got Nova.
Thanks as I've got the apk ready to go if someone gives me the thumbs up.

It will work..... and you are on touchwiz... you're just using a 3rd party launcher.. (Nova is one of my favorites )...
If you need help setting it up... I linked to my settings above.. you might have to play with it though as you are on tw.. I said I was on tw, but it was a custom rom that was tw based with a 4g hotspots hack... so I didn't need it.. Should work on stock rooted though...

Thanks for that help! I configured it according to the link you posted but to no avail. It says it's running but I can't find the SSID when trying to connect another computer to it. I also don't see the icon on the top of my screen indicating that I'm connected to 3g. Is this app only for 4g?

No... it will work with 3g too.... try playing with the settings... remember, those settings of mine where for an aosp rom (slimbean)...
Also... if you decide you don't like it or can't get it to work... after you delete the app... boot to recovery and wipe cache and dalvik cache. This will get rid of the binaries installed by the app.

Thanks for all the help! Last night I changed the setup method to Softap for Samsung (master) and actually got the 3g icon to show and I thought it was going to work but I could not find the SSID and there were also errors recorded in the log. I'm at work now in an all metal building and can't get a signal but I will try again and report back. Thanks again!
Oh, and we're sure this setup, if I get it to work, is totally unknown to Virgin? I would hate them to boot me for doing this. (oh, and how ridiculous is it to charge for data that I'm already paying for!?!?) One reason I got the S2 from Virgin online is because it stated wifi tethering as a feature. Nowhere did it say I had to pay for this feature. But that's another story.

You should be safe from virgin knowing... atleast I've never been caught by sprint or boost..
As for the error's... I always had error's on my setup.. but it worked.. keep trying, I know there is a setup to get ya going...
If you end up not getting it to work.... you could try an app from the playstore... or as a last resort you could flash a custom rom based on tw.. the tw roms have working 4g hacked hotspots.. you would need to change you're apns once you have the new rom flashed so you have data.. no biggy there..

I can't get this or any tethering app to work. I've tried modding my build.prop file with the .tether.denied=false item as well - to no avail. I think it's because I'm on IceCream Sandwich??? Anyway, I'm rooted, stock ROM and all I want to do is enable wireless tethering. I really feel no need or desire to install a custom Rom. So, can I do it somehow? I am on the Epic 4G Touch forum, someone has to know.
Also, you mentioned clearing my delvik cache and something else but I have no idea how to do it. I tried installing clockwork mod but I could find no option for the Epic 4G Touch. There was an option to create a backup for the Epic 4G but not the touch. I figured at least if I did this I'd have the option of clearing the cache.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks again.

I see you said that you ( tried ) installing clockwork mod.. so I'm assuming you tried it with Rom Manager... I will say this once.. Do Not Use That To Install Recoveries on this device.. you will end up with a brick...
We have to use Odin, mobile Odin and there is a couple other ways ( involving a terminal emulator ) to install recoveries on this device.. You see.. our kernel's and recoveries are tied together.. So to install a custom recovery, we have to flash/install a custom kernel..
Let me ask you this.. how did you root and what superuser app are you using..

Yeah, I tried installing it with Rom Manager, I can go ahead and uninstall it then. I rooted using some solution I found online and honestly I don't remember what it was but it was very simple. I am using Superuser 3.1.3 (46). Was that what you were asking??
I really would hate to be one of those people who hasn't done their homework and then expects everyone else to answer their questions - I hate those people. I succesfully installed CM10 to my HP Touchpad so I feel pretty good being able to at least accomplish that feat.
Thanks for your help. Hey I guess if I make a successful backup of how my phone is now, I can play with other roms. Maybe this is the jumping in point for me right here. Thanks!
Now to figure out these damned captcha codes!

Ya.. this could be the start of you loving you're phone again.. :fingers-crossed:
I always suggest new people to read up before doing anything...
Also.. I suggest starting out with the touchwiz roms.. they will be more familiar to new users as well as a little easier to trouble shoot.. I believe..
They also have the better data speeds and the 4g hotspots hack..
Just read up.. if you need any help.. I'm always around.. but first things first.. read up on custom recoveries... once you have one installed with a kernel that will work for you're stock rom you can make a backup... you could make one with another custom recovery/kernel combo, but let's just keep it simple for now.
In rwilco's repo you can find just about anything you need... modems( read about ),kernel/recoveries, and many other things. Just remember and read about the emmc brick bug in ICS..
Being as you are new and not on JB.. a one-click for Odin on windows will be our first step if you choose to proceed. From there you can flash just about anything you want... I can link you to a little guide I put together for a really easy way to flash/install new roms, kernels/recoveries.
Let me know what ya think...

Start reading the stickies in the Android development section.. a very good starting point..
Also.. don't worry about asking questions.. we all start out as noobs.. lol. But you have the right attitude..plus.. when you find the answers yourself, I always think they stick better and you also get that feeling of accomplishment. You'll make a good member here with the way you are looking at it... but I also know that when you come to that first flash... it can be nerve racking.. Okay thanks. I'm still thinking about all of this. I'm thinking I'm not committed enough to do it right now and it may be a case of the cure being worse than the disease. I mean all I really want to do is make wifi tethering work. I'm afraid I don't have the time necessary to tinker with all of this esp since I am very happy with my Android user experience so far with this phone.
Besides the tethering fix, what other benefits would there be to installing a custom rom. Or... what would make a custom rom better than Jellybean? Is installing a custom rom the only way I can backup my current system?
Thanks again though for all of your help.

For me.. it's about customization.. Being able to change my status bar( color, transparency, icon, clock position, )..and many other things..
Also... I find that the custom roms are smoother than stock roms...
As for backing up you're system... you can backup you're data on a pc/mac...but if you're wanting to do full system backup's....I think rooting and a custom recovery are the only way to go.. ( but I'm not positive , as I've never looked into it.. )
Greetings All!
New convert from a VZW Note 3 to a brand new T-Mo Note 3 I just bought. I have already rooted it.
I have the $80 unlimited plan, which I understand includes 5GB of tether. I need more than that. Mostly as a wifi hotspot, but maybe some USB in a "noisy" area.
I am very familiar with all of the historical methods, including edits on the config files, changing apk files, using third party apps, etc. I am very much an expert on this and definitely not a noob, I just need to know the skinny on how this is done on Magenta.
I just need to know from those who know, what absolutely works and prevents detection, etc. I have seen various things posted, but never seem to have someone state: "This is my method on my rooted phone" and this works perfectly, every time.
Thanks in advance, please advise.
-Rob
Welcome. There are a number custom roms here that provide unlimited tethering. I'm using Effortless and it works flawlessly. Also as I didn't want to take away from the stock experience, its pretty much stock. As to a mod that will do the same, I've yet to see one.

Looking forward to getting to know the regulars around here and helping out others if I can.

Don't bother staying stock if you want unlimited tether. There's nothing that works right now besides wifi tether router app (requires root) that was mentioned to you or custom roms. Rooting with towelroot does not trip knox and you can revert back to stock if you want with ease. I'm stock rooted and everything works for me, including the use of samsung allshare cast dongle.
EDIT: I think I misunderstood and you meant to say you want to stay stock rooted? Then wifi tether router is your only answer.
do yourself a favor and just buy wifi tether work with bluetooth usb and wifi

Thanks for the correction. I should've read through that thread but that's a lot of work. But to the OP, since he is rooted, it may be worth while just spending $2 on an app than go through all that IMO.

I just need to know from those who know, what absolutely works and prevents detection, etc. I have seen various things posted, but never seem to have someone state: "This is my method on my rooted phone" and this works perfectly, every time.
Thanks in advance, please advise.

if your already knox 0x1...
u can use my stock odex not rooted rom, I have on my thread, look on the 3 post... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=51812491#post51812491
you can use my rom and follow those few steps, and as long as your paying for the unlimited u can download my rom which has a few files edited and fixed for unlimited tethering without no extra app needed, I use the wifi tether app from tmobile, and never have had an issue, and don't have to pay for no apps... it just works..
I use my own roms, and also tested them without root, and have unlimited tethering, I use upto 100 - 160gb a month,
what I do, is make a copy of my original rom, and remove the files I don't want, most of the google files u can download from the play store, I remove them all, so when I flash my nice clean rom, I restore the new updated files with titanium backup and am always upto date with my rom..
just letting you know u have a few options to choose from.. :good:
I bought the app, WHEN IT DID WORK, it worked against the gigs of data supplied by t-mobile. Darkstalker and wicked both provide true unlimited hot spot, bluetooth and usb tether.
Sent from my SM-N900T using xda app-developers app
Perhaps I wasn't being perfectly clear in what I was asking. To help, here is my status:
Knox 0x1
STOCK Rooted NF4
I don't mind using an app that is proven to work, and if I absolutely had to, I would flash a rom.
But, my preference is to remain stock, and use the stock tether app if at all possible. So, my question remains. Those original instructions were written for an earlier version. Even a donation and a personal thanks to Jovy didn't produce a response to the direct question:
Will these instructions work with the stock NF4 Rom?
Thanks!

The differences in the NF1 and NF4 versions of the particular files referenced in that instructional guide thread were minimal - the same processes outlined there can be done on NF4. The functional outcomes between doing said processes on NF4 should not differ from those seen on NF1. In my experience it seems like outcomes on mods like this can vary in defiance to such logic, but such variance would apply equally between NF1 and NF4 as well - so again the outcomes on the whole should not differ.
I realize this also falls short of the OP's direct question - but if you redefine the question quoted above to be:
Will these instructions work with the stock NF4 rom the same as they did with the stock NF1 rom?
My answer would be:
Yes.

Good to hear. Thank you for the input. I am not above digging in and getting my hands dirty in the config files, I just wanted to see if someone had done it themselves first and could absolutely verify it works on NF4. I am certainly not afraid to shoot a nandroid backup and then dive right in. I just didn't want to waste the time if there was an NF4 specific issue that had not yet been addressed or was outstanding.

"So why not dig in and read, you would have found thread in development by jovvy that directly details the steps for NF4 tether.
Sorry for being a ****, but i avoided answering because you seemed like you wanted a quick fix, which leads to abuse, which leads to threads bragging on data use, which ends up with t-mobile changing their practices and effecting everyone. I'll accept that this description is not definitive of you, but your failure to find the answer which is here, yourself categorizes you with that type of user. Lastly consider that by reading threads like this, carriers implement patches to these exploits so the repetitive threads just shorten the time these methods will work."
So then don't be that type of a ****. I didn't want a quick fix. If you notice, I have been a member here since 2006. I am hardly a newb. I wasn't looking for a silver platter, I just wanted to know if there was something specific to NF4 that another had experienced. Why re-invent the wheel?
I am not abusing my plan, not in the least. Thanks for being the data police though.
I donated to Jovvy and thanked him for his efforts, and just asked a simple question. I got crickets in response. Devs wonder why people don't donate...

Fair enough. But not being a noob should have led you to taking the 15min it takes to do the mod and test it. You seemed to feel that without having your question answered it might lead to a brick ! At worst you'd tether and it would still show on your account. So yes, maybe i should have left well enough alone, but you also seem to think that a donation entitles you to anything. Devs donate here all the time, have you donated for every item on xda? And my last point, being a member since 06 you should clearly remember a time if you weren't a dev you couldn't post period you read and absorbed info and thanked the holy stars other people were spending time and effort. I'm sure jovvy appreciates your donation, but he doesn't expect it, as you shouldn't expect to be the teachers pet cause you brought an apple.
So there it is, i guess I'm a **** after all.
