there's no kenel for now because HTC hasn't release the kernel source yet, so stick with the stock one which is the best imo

We have more than one thread for a lot here. It doesn't really matter any more. I like this one so I will say something. Nobody can use anything until s-off so don't get too excited.
Oh sorry,i forgot totally the S-Off Problem >..<
And i didnt found the other Thread Who tells that the Source is out.
But isnt it Possible to Flash a Kernel trough Fastbootmode?
I did that Yesterday because i had a Issue where my Cpu wont go over 1000Mhz xD

Why not? We can continue flashing kernel in boot.img via fastboot in the interim.
Flashed just fine last night..... You don't need s-off to change a kernel

Say I flashed a kernel without s-off and i'm on 1.28. The 1.29 upgrade gets available for my phone, can i upgrade my phone to 1.29 normally via OTA or do i have to go back to stock etc?

OTAs contain only files needed to upgrade one stock ROM to another stock ROM, so you will definitely need to re-flash the stock rom. Or, wait for your custom ROM to be re-based to 1.29.
I got my One X when they first came out, rooted it straight away and have been very happy. I'm running a JB AOKP ROM.
I've noticed a lot of talk about hboot versions, 1.23/1.28. My hboot is still 0.43. Am I missing anything? Does updating the hboot actually matter?
Thanks for any information

I have almost the same question : I would like to install the "Android Revolution HD 11.1" ROM and spent few days parsing the various post in the corresponding section of the forum.
The installation procedure states that to go to JB we need to have HBOOT v1.23. In addition it is indicated that :
{Do the following only if you have hboot version 0.43.
Download this ROM. You need to flash this RUU after you relock but before you flash firmware. Your hboot version will say 1.12}

Now my question :
My HOX indicates HBOOT v1.12 without any upgrade, do I need to upgrade it or not ?

If you have 1.12, there is no need to upgrade to 1.12 before upgrading to 1.28.
To upgrade to 1.28, keep following the instructions.

Also, make sure you really do want to upgrade to 1.28 because without S-OFF you can't go back to an hboot with a lower version number.

So the hboot version only affects sense roms?
ifsow what does hboot represend ?
because i dont get why would it be good for sense roms but not for non sense roms on the same device.
they have to update or fix some things in those different version right ?
at the start of last year a fix whas published for the bad battery life.
The fix whas supposed to add 10 to 20 % to battery life.
just now i saw a post from somebody asking how to do this fix and they told him it whas fixed in version 1.28 / 1.29
it whas not clear to me if they where refering to hboot version but i think they did.
i'm pretty confused about this, could you help me clarrify a bit ?

that is a normal RUU, you have to run it on your PC with the phone connected, it won't void your warranty cause RUU are released by HTC... we can say that it is a sort of upgrade that must be done from the PC go on with that don't worry... does the vodafone logo appears on bootanimation or splash screen? cause if it is a splash screen you can't change that due to NON S-OFFed phone
Do I need to put the phone in some downloading mode or it must be just on?
Thanks for your reply.
Well when I turn on my phone I get the HTC logo, then that Vodafone logo and then again the HTC logo with the beats audio.

no, you can both connect the phone while is booted up or while it is in bootloader mode, but i would recommend the second one... the vodafone logo, from what i've understood, is part of the bootanimation so it is easly removable (only if you have root)
Ok, how about if I root the phone remove the logo then unroot and flash the ruu?
Is this possible, cause I still want to use the official firmware.
Thanks again mate for helping me out on this.
I used to have an SGS2 and it was way more simple to flash it.

What's your cid? (use cid getter to find out) Maybe your hox is branded. Then you are unable to remove the logo by flashing the ruu.

I was thinking to flash a different ruu than the one i have right now, the Europe ruu must be clean i guess.
CID VODAP102
While flashing the ruu the cid is checked. If it does not fit to the cids its made for it won't flash.

probably you'll find your firmware upgrade in this thread but that will require a lot of time!
Ok, so i saw last night that the latest firmware + hboot is out for my Phone CID VODAP102 and ive decided to flash this firmware with hboot 1.3.6 and install the latest Ordroid Rom 12.1.0, from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1836919
I was just wondering why in the Ordroid thread says that you need at least 1.3.1 hboot and when you install Ordroid it says that you need hboot 1.3.9?
Anyway ive installed it and i dont have any issue so far, just a lil change i guess that it comes with the JB.... i guess.... is this normal when you connect the USB cable from pc to phone not to get the option to choose the connection? (charge only , disk drive...etc)
If anyone have this Rom please confirm this to me.
Thanks and Merry Christmas to all of you guys!!

Its same for everyone who has updated to JB.

I see you're using Maximus ROM how's that?
Any difference between Maximus and Ordroid ?
Right now i am on insert coin 15.0.0
All custom roms are pretty much same be it maximus or ordroid.. few of them are themed and rest based on stock look.
if you want a fully themed customized ROM with a lot of Tweaks, wait for the JB Viper X ROM

Thanks guys
thanks all , my hox is same, waiting for the JB Viper X ROM
Hi Guys,
i am completely new to Android, had my One X for 6 months now.
i really want to upgrade to JB, the renovate ROM.
i have CID_016 and HBOOT 1.12.
can any1 tell me the steps i need to take, i will do my best to find the detailed instructions on each step.
but i just need to know exactly what i need to do...upgrade HBOOT? if so what version? if im on 1.12 - do i have to do 1 or 2 version before going to the final version etc...etc
i really dont want to brick my device.
thanks
Okay first thing I would do is have a look at the renovate ROM thread, because the OP would most likely be a nice person and have some instructions. Let's see what they write......
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1705334
"How To Flash:
For the Jellybean update you need to have flashed the updated firmware. Please have a look at the many guides available on how to do this"
Oh, so they want us to flash updated firmware, how should I do this? Well look! Conveniently stickied is a thread called "[07.12.2012] Jelly Bean firmware collection for different Carriers ID (CID)", let's go there!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957376
Oh I see my CID number listed underneath!
I will then proceed to download the firmware.zip file.
Okay I downloaded, now what? Well let me scroll down the page and see if there are any instructions:
"Flash firmware.zip using following terminal commands:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip firmware.zip"
Okay, I see I have to be in fastboot mode in order to do this. But I must not forget to relock the bootloader first. So I use the command 'fastboot oem lock' to first lock my bootloader, and then proceed to complete the above instructions to flash the firmware.
Okay now what? Well I think I should relock my bootloader now that I want to flash renovate, so I do by using 'fastboot flash unlocktoken unlock_code.bin'. Done.
Next, ...........
Or seriously just use this tool: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1924003
You need either HBOOT 1.31, 1.33 or 1.36 for this ROM.

And I really recommend this tool for unlocking and installing custom recovery, it truly is noob-proof.
After using that tool you will have all pre-requirements and tools needed for installing custom roms. :good:
