I am more into undervolting rather than overclocking. I do this in order to maximize battery usage. I was wondering how many of you are able to undervolt by -50mV and still have a stable phone? I have been undervolted by -25mV and everything is great.
50 should be no problems at all. Every phone varies, but normally you can get away with at least 100mv under volt with little issues.

Undervolting? Wow this is news to me lol

I undervolt 100 on pegesus Kern no problems!
I am on -50 right now on the perseus kernel. Trying to squeeze a little more out of this already great battery life. I couldn't make it a full day on the original note and ended up using one of the pregnant looking extended batteries. Now this phone combined with the undervolting I can easily last the whole day on the stock battery.

Seems like -100mv is the stable max so far for this device. Battery life is amazing on the note 2!

The battery life on this is the best I have seen so far on smartphones. I am finally able to use my live wallpapers without the battery going dead before the day is out!
i posted my successes undervolting the galaxy note 2 here

hi just wonderding if i oc my s2 to 1.7ghz win min 19200 will it damage my phone in any way?
I'm sure this is up for debate but obviously overclocking you're going to be working the hardware more than the manufacturer intended, potentially causing more heat, early component breakdown, poorer battery life, etc.
I'm with the darkside devs on this one. I've actually got mine a bit unlocked to 1.29 GHz and it works great and the battery lasts nicely. As they've said, overclocking isn't really necessary when the hardware keeps up nicely to any game you play on it or when you're navigating menus or websites on it.

What are you using to underclock because many are saying not to use setcpu?

System Tuner is good, however I would recommend staying away from overclocking period. As the other poster sited, you can fry your chip by placing unnecessary stress on it.
Hows your battery life? Mines is horrible tempted to go stock pre root wiped stats and cpu governed down to 400 mhz max and brightness low running wifj only plus my keys magically stopped working

Battery life was never good for me either on CM10. CM10.1 is a lot better on battery IMO
I've had fairly decent battery on CM9+

I'd say my battery life is about 2/3rds of what I got with the last RandomRom.
I just carry a spare battery and keep it plugged in more.
Funny thing is that a friend of mine who has an iPhone 5 gets roughly the same battery life as me, on CM10. She used to always ask me why I did not switch. Now she gets aggravated when I swap batteries as her phone is about to shut down and says, "Don't rub it in!"

My battery life is about 2/3rds as to what I got with stock, but it really depends on use. It seems to use less power and last longer in standby than it did in stock, but more power when I'm using the browser/gps/3g. I tried CM10.1, but am getting better battery life on the latest 2013-01-20 CM10 build.
If your hardware keys are broke, you can enable the software keys. Add the following line to your system/build.prop file and reboot:
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
I also created a flashable zip that adds the NavBar and resizes it so it takes up less space here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2113542
When I was using CM7, my friend took my phone and underclocked it to 200Mhz and it killed my battery faster due to Android trying to keep the processor speed down.

My S3 was getting really hot after rooting so I decided to try undervolting. I was able to under volt each clock speed by -100mv, and my device hasn't seen any performance issues, runs cool, and battery lasts way longer! What do you guys keep you voltage settings at?

It doesn't matter what other people UV since all devices are different. I can reach -125 all steps (haven't tried farther) but some others can barely do -25. It's just how their device is built.

I understand. I'm just wondering what people are running at

The reason I personally don't do both under clocking and over clocking is that the phone itself isn't made for that. I personally don't know what this phone can handle. I have seen people under clock and over clock phones and have it work while some people have phones that can't handle much at all especially the refurbished ones. My S3 handles it well but I only tried it out once. That's my feeling on the subject. If you do do either undervolting, under clocking or over clocking just remember to do it responsibly and not put it to highest power and leave it there.

How's battery consumption compared to not forcing it?

Usually forcing the use of GPU does cause a difference in battery life, but the difference is unnoticeable. Maybe half a millisecond less of battery life.
Edit: My info may be wrong. I just read this in ICS days in a similar thread.

It should increase battery life since hardware acceleration usually means less stuff for the CPU to process which equals power savings.

I enable it on every ROM i use after ramping up GPU to 384 without really thinking about it. Always has been solid for me. And yeah, im gonna say that it doesnt do a 'whole' lot for battery. But hey, another 5% on a charge? I'll take it.

Any of you folks playing ingress? Are you using any underclocking or got any tips to make battery life longer, apart from buy another battery lol.

No, but after I checked what the heck it was..
I'm off to request a beta key

I do - I undervolt it to 800mhz using the profiles function in SetCPU and have already undervolted the 800mhz range and below by between -25 and -50.
I know it uses hsdpa, gps etc so it is battery hungry - if you struggle on power look at getting one of those power packs (10000ma)
That would keep ya going all day haha

The phone seems to run comfortably at 800mhz however can take a tad longer when taking hdr pics or doing anything processor heavy. I tend to use the profiles option in setcpu a lot
