After some really confusing and hard time searching through the forums and found little consolidated answers, I decided to write this FAQ to help those like me who are having doubts about the latest Galaxy Note II GT-N7105 model.
Q: How can I root my N7105 the safe way?
A:
1) Using Auto-Root by Chainfire. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1980683)
2) Using PC Odin or Mobile Odin with Chenglu’s cwm6-recovery-n7100-121014.tar (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1901196)
In 2), although the file is named for N7100, but it works for N7105 as well. I have tested it personally with Mobile Odin and it works flawlessly.
Q: Will rooting N7105 with method 1) and 2) loses 4G LTE connectivity?
A: No, it works fine.
Q: I want multi-windows but my N7105 doesn’t come with it.
A: You need to upgrade to N7105ZHALJ4 to get have multi-windows.
Q: Where to get Stock ROM, say N7105ZHALJ4 ?
A: I wrote a blog entry on that, please read it: http://lockyep.blogspot.hk/2012/11/technology-extended-advanced-samsung.html
For the fullest list of Stock ROMs, go to http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-N7105
Q: I want multi-windows with unlimited apps. How can I get that?
A: You need a deodex ROM plus a Mod.
Q: If I want deodex ROMs and that Mod, what are my options?
A: Currently with deadman12’s N7105XXDLK7 deodexed Rom V1.1 [4.1.2][Aroma][Rooted] , it does the deodexing and the Mod for you. teshxx's [4.1.2] N7105XXDLK7 || Odexed & DeOdexed, Rooted, Busybox, and also EmptyArea’s N7105XXXALIJ EmptyStock . For pure Mod, there is Modded N7105ZHALJ4 MultiWindow Control
Q: Can I not flash so many ZIP files but still get the same result?
A: Yes, it's your lucky day! But you'll need to do something by yourself. First, download jcspecs' [UTILITY] Clockwork Combiner - Combine flashable zips. {Version 1.5} Then download the files mentioned in the above questions, then you can combine the ZIP files into just one single file!! Then you can flash it.
Q: Where can I get the N7105 kernels?
A: AndreiLux has the Perseus and stock LJ1, LIJ kernels on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1927852. For LJ4 stock kernel, use Pyr0x64’s Dropbox URL: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/67559790/LJ4kernel.tar
Q: I have other less advanced questions, such as the missing radio, unable to run Flash on some websites, faster battery drain than GT-N7100, where can I find the answers?
A: You can read another blog entry of mine, titled Technology: Galaxy Note II Q & A -- Part 1
[FAQ Will be updated as my knowledge on GT-N7105 gains.]

In 2), although the file is named for N7100, but it works for N7105 as well. I have tested it personally with Mobile Odin and it works flawlessly.

My note 2 n7105 did not recognize sim cards anymore after flashing CWM for n7100 (with the toolkit as recommended in many posts and blogs). Recreated the issue twice.

I used the version included with the toolkit 2.0. I guess its CWM Recovery V6.0.1.5 if I can trust the changelog.

Have you tried unplugging the sim card , reboot , shutdown , plug sim card again and reboot ?

Of course. I am kind of experienced with flashing and ROMs and so on, played with my I9000 for 2 years now.
I also had 2 sim cards to test - one original micro sim, one "cutted" micro sim. Both didn't work. Deleted cache, dalvik cache, did factory reset. After i flashes stock then, it recognized the sim cards.

Great thread, thanks for starting this...

Strange, today I rooted another phone, it's alright. What ROMs are/ were you on?

Phone 1: Samsung Galaxy Note 2 N7105 (4G) with Stock N7105XXALIJ + CF-Auto-Root-t0lte-gtn7105
Thx for your work. TW recovery 2.3.1.3 did the trick !

Is yours a locked phone ? Cuz locked phones can do weird stuff. From your firmware , I'm guessing it is not bought in Hong Kong

FAQ has been updated today. More questions added.

Doesnt the rom [ROM][GT-N7105]N7105ZHALJ4 deodexed Rom V1.1 [Rooted][19 Nov] already include the multi window with unlimited apps mod? You make it seem like you need legends mod too.

You are so right! I just upgraded the v1.0 to v1.1 without reading the changes for that ROM.
Thanks!

My mobilephonecontract does not allow me to use LTE (didnt want it), but they only had the LTE version for me. So i can use HSPA+.
So is it possible to flash a n7100 rom, and only lose the possibility to use LTE and HSPA+ ?
cause in the end it was a failure to buy the n7105, cause the LTE network coverage is to low in my region. And the n7105 has far to less options to get modded.
So my question is: Is it possible to flash a n7100 rom, or can this damage my phone ?

I don't have the exact answer. I dare not try it. Theoretically speaking , flashing shouldn't be a problem but getting everything to work , I doubt it. The 4G chip needs 4G kernel and driver. I guess you will simply lose the data connection.
But if you can get hold of a flashable 4G kernel , maybe it might work. Then again, why so you even want to try flashing n7100 rom ? There are deodex roms for N7105 already.
Sent from my GT-N7105 using xda app-developers app

Cause there is much more variety of Roms for the n7100, espacially CM10 Roms.
But maybe i just have to wait a Bit longer for more Roms.
Thx for ur answer
Sent from my GT-N7105 using xda app-developers app

The N7105 uses a Qualcomm chip to control the modem. I believe if you flash a 7100 ROM you will stuff your radio as it has a different chip.

Thanks for this thread. I'm looking to jump to the N7105 for LTE. Really hope some Roms get ported across. Im loving the Omega Rom on my N7100 currently...

[ROM][GT-I9505][XXUAME2][28 May]{~BoBCaTROM_v1.0~}|OTA Update
Bobcat v1.0.. It's a fully themed rom.. If you don't like the theme, you can use omega rom..
Rom can only be an 9505, you can't use a 9500
PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT YOU MUST FLASH A TMO KERNEL AFTER THE ROM BEFORE YOU REBOOT THE PHONE OTHERWISE IT WONT BOOT.. in my case I used faux
.....
Only con is using wifi calling.. Otherwise I love it.. Some people will suggest not to use other carrier roms, but I can confirm you'll be ok, just make sure you flash a tmobile kernel..

You shouldn't be flashing kernels seeing as you don't have a clue what you're doing. If something were to go wrong you would be screwed. You don't even know where to look for the kenerls. All T-Mobile kernels are in the T-Mobile original development forum. You can flash any T-mobile/i9505 ROM as long as you flash a T-Mobile kernel(which can be located in the Original Development forum). You were lucky enough to be given step by step guide but that won't teach you anything and you won't learn that way. All you know is that you need a T-mobile kernel to flash after flashing a i9505 ROM, but you don't know why. I would suggest learning why so you don't run into future problems.

Im waiting for an update for my rom which contains a new firmware..
This should still be able to flash since roms don't come with radios right? Just gotta stay up to date with my tmobile radios and kernel updates.. Is that correct?

Why hasn't there been a 4.4 Google Edition rom in t-mobile s4 dev section?
Is there a problem with the kernel ?

There's really no point. A T-Mobile version of the rom wouldn't give you anything different than flashing the i9505 version(it comes naturally from Google without carrier branding) and making it for the i9505 will let the rom reach a wider audience. The only thing you might have to do after flashing is change the apn setting for lte.
Owner of Tmobile M919 model want to install 4.4 kitkat
Hello Guys
First thanks in advance to anyone that may be able to provide me some info / input on my questions.
1. I would like to get out of the samsung branded install of the tmobile S4 and try a rom that would give me stock OS like the Google edition / Nexus phones.
2. Is it it possible to get 4.4 kitkat stock/custom rom installed on this phone ? any recommendations / issues ? i know that wifi calling is lost with stock roms but what about tethering ?
My phone is already rooted and TW recovery installed.

1.) Just go over to the Development section and browse the different 4.4 based Roms. They're almost updated every other day. I've tried a few of them and each has their strengths/weaknesses. Just always make sure that you Backup your current software so that if there is an issue, you can return to a previously working software.
2.) If you haven't upgraded to the MK2 radio yet, I would advise reading all that you can about it and performing that (provided you're still on MDL Bootloader). Tethering was still available with all of the 4.4 Roms that I tried. Ultimately, it comes down to what you prefer. I went back to a stock-ish 4.3 Rom because of certain features that a GE Rom just didn't have.
Best of luck!

i had been wondering this myself as well. this does look like the rom i want. im still on the 4.3 version of it atm, does installing the mk2 radio stuff do anything for me? and if so at what point would it be best to do the install? ( now or after installing the 4.4 rom?) i guess i dont fully grasp what the radio does for me.
thanks

The radio is more like a driver for all you cellular hardware. KitKat does not like the old firmware. That being said if you don't upgrade you may or may not have issues. Updating firmware would be best before installing your ge ROM. I would test it out now on you current ROM and then switch over to KitKat. Have you rooted or updated to new 4.3? What ROM are you on now?

ahh thanks for the reply, im running jamals gpe 4.3 rom from the dev section, rooted, twrp recovery. was watching the forums so i never updated to the stock tw 4.3 thing, went from stock 4.2.2 tw directly to this rom.
If I were you I would follow this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2544612 it worked for me. This will upgrade radio without giving you Knox. IMHO I think dandroids ge ROM is the best. Also infamous (the man) is about to drop a ge ROM any minute. I am using the beta version and its rock solid.

Honestly they are all similar. The come from the same base. I do like the faux kernel of dandroid. Can droid has been the smoothest. Jamal's was good and is fully stock virtually untouched. His development was slower than other so I jumped ship. If you like his work stick with it. I use dandroid for the built in xposed framework. I can mod the hardware buttons and status bar easily and a little less bloat. Infamous has more bells and whistles. Hope that helps. Oh and FYI I have dirty flashed between all of these ROMs no problem. I also clean flashed them as well to really compare. Worst case scenario you just nandroid backup the one you like and flash em all they are smaller size to back up. Let me know how it works out

Flash Roms Without Tripping Knox 0x1!

Hi everybody!
I was reading one of the Note 3 forums on XDA and noticed that zroice made a tool to help flash roms without a custom recovery!
I haven't seen it mentioned here, but I figured that it may be prudent to make a public service announcement here, as well as let the rom developers here know about it. Who knows? They may even make a release of their rom or roms with native support for this tool, for one click installs!
You can find it @ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2550120.

it says it doesnt involve custom recovery or custom kernals (which trip knox). There currently is no solution to those knox issues as of this point

There is also the issue of Aroma Installers in Roms. Most of the ROMs we find here use Aroma. Since you can't choose what you want, you'd need to move the files for your choices by hand and run the script again.
Anyone have use this to flash a custom Rom on your note 3?

I tried several roms on my Sprint variant Note 3. The only one that seemed to come close to working was freezas stock rooted MJ4 rom. The only thing was that the direct input would stop as with Samsung keyboard force closing. Tried Jellybomb and Bonsai too with no luck at all.
Mobile Odin seems like a nice alternative?

With T-Mobile's announcement yesterday, I am contemplating if I wanted to switch from Verizon to TMo,...Right now I could flash custom ROMs via SafeStrap and not trip Knox, so I was just here to see what sort of development has been going on with the TMo variant,..

Yes. It is. There was a guide on how to use MOP (Mobile Odin Pro) to flash without tripping Knox. Kn0x0ut is more or less unsupported now, since MOP supports AROMA too and deprecates it.
The problem is that MOP doesn't support our model, and neither does safestrap, which isn't necessary due to our phone having an unlocked bootloader. So, the only way at present is to use kn0x0ut.
You can force MOP to believe you have a different model phone. It may actually allow you to flash a tmobile Note 3 as if it was the international variant. However, I'm reluctant and a bit fearful to do that. If someone else wants to try, let us know!
MOP now supports our phone model.

The AT&T safestrap works perfectly for our phone as well. So we have a few options.

Yes, but MOP supports AROMA AFAIK and Safestrap does not.
There was a link on a guide to use MOP without tripping Knox and allowing to use AROMA. I wonder if I can find it?
Yes, MOP supports Aroma fine. Just make sure to choose stock/unmodified kernel when going through the Aroma installer. Both options have their benefits.

What is This?
This is ND8, but it has all the NE4 files you need, even NE4 CSC. no traces of sprint are left behind. It's a fully flashable, and safe AT&T build.
Why?
I made this hybrid to make you feel safer, while getting the same AT&T functionality you want. It's ND8 based, and we know ND8 is safe.

Downloads:
Download NE4/ND8 Hybrid AT&T 4.4.2 StockROM
Mirrors coming soon!
Anyone is welcome to re-upload this!
Freely use this as you wish!
I believe the development in this community is beautiful!
Requirements:
4.3 Firmware (bootloader & modem)
(Mjb, and Mj2 compatible)
Whats Removed?
Knox only. It's all stock NE4. All bloat is there.
Notes:
This includes the NE4 build.prop properties
All NE4 APPS included
Fully Stock- All Bloatware included.
Clean Flash recommended.
You can flash over ND8, but do not report bugs to me if dirty flashed, as the same toggles and everything are not enabled for AT&T.
I am claiming this as a"Hybrid"
It is safe. My device is still fully functional.

Locked onto AT&T lte network just fine. Took a little while to settle in.
Great work man thanks for getting this up quickly.
To everyone please avoid updating the firmware (modem/bootloader) unless we find that we need to for some reason. Since it works the same on these ones there really is no point in us dealing with the new one if we don't have to yet. To clarify what worked for you with any 4.3 rom or the ND8 port ones that we've played with the last month will work the same with NE4.
I will probably stay on the 4.3 firmware until I get a new phone.
I am on stock kernel with S3Rx Rom, MJ2 bootloader and MJB Modem.
Does the ROM also has Ktoonsex kernel also?

OK. I'm having a weird problem with my microphone not working. Will not take any voice input on keyboard, Google now search or phone calls. I had this same problem on Likewise also. Coming from Aokp and back to Aokp it works fine. I must be missing something in my setup.

are you running the mjb modem ?
Only issue I seem to be having is the can't send an MMS while wifi is on. Turn wifi off, then resend MMS, it works perfectly. Regular SMS will work with wifi in or off. I seen others complain about this on Likewise Beta 2, but I never had the issue myself on beta 2 or LT. I even flashed a 5/13 build kernel from Ktoonsez and same issue. Any suggestions?

Edit: I found the Secmms apk download and Sectelephony apk fc fix. Downloaded and moved in system pri-app, set permissions and BAM! MMS is working good WITH wifi on now. Here's the list link to the S5 mods I used to resolve the issue if anyone needs it. [emoji2] http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2690997

Yes. Mjb everything. Unfortunately I took the 4.3 update a while back :/ I've never had a problem flashing with twrp 2.6.3 so I haven't updated. Starting to wonder if maybe that might be the culprit. Idk

try turning off "background noise reduction" in call settings !
also try to clear the mic hole using a thin pin. maybe lint or dirt is blocking the mic.

Turning off background noise reduction was the first thing I tried. Didn't work. If the mic hole was blocked then it wouldn't work on in my other tw and Aokp Roms. I've clean flashed twice with same results.

Surely!
You'll need the libs too though so it'd be easier to just get them from the S5 apps index thread by Mr Bola. This hybrid is my base in the new LT.

How's that wifi calling working on there, and AllShare is that working good for you, streaming music and movies to whatever device you want, mms over wifi working good for you too? Did CM win the lottery and buy some decent firmware for the camera so their roms can take good pictures? Ooooh that's right you are on cm12, all you can do is make phone calls (sometimes) and count all the things your phone doesn't do without buying something from the market.... I can't wait to try that awesome rom that doesn't do.........anything... :silly:

You need to install the new firmware with ODIN. The procedure is in the first post. Do a factory reset in recovery before booting into download mode, after backing up.

Your problem is the recovery is not jfltetmo. Make sure you change the recovery to twrp for jfltetmo, or flash a unified recovery for s4, then flash the rom again.
