[q] cm7 nightly & cm7

Hey!
I want to put CM rom on my gf's wildfire and i didn't find anywhere the difference between the regular and the nightly version... can someone explain it to me?
Nightlies are experimental versions, which may be better than the stable, but, it may sometimes also have bugs not present in the stable. The building of nightlies is a continuous process, with a new nightly released everyday.
Another difference is that you do not get "official" support on the CM Bug tracker for nightlies, but, this is available for RC / Stable versions.
For your gf's phone, I would probably recommend you go with the stable.
thank you for your help!
stable is better for father, i think

[Q] Will the Wildfire get CM 7.2?

Yep, will it ever get CM 7.2? Are there any devs working on it? Just wondering.
I thought the unofficial builds by erwin and cobje are 7.2??
Officially though I doubt it now as arco and Jacob have moved on to better phones.

As per the CM Blog, It was planned to have a final stable release of CM7 to incorporate all the changes that have gone through since the last stable came out, and also since the nightlies stopped. However, now that CM9 nightlies have started, (For some devices), I don't know whether this plan (To get 7.2 Stable) is still on or not.
Basically, if you are already on the local builds by cobje / Erwin, you won't get anything else, apart from a "Stable" in the file name, and the ability to file bug reports on the CM bug tracker (Which will not help, given that CM7 is almost dead)
Ok thank you. Its just like senseonfire beta 0.4 0.5 etc. And jokerdroid 4.2 and 4.3
Tought it was like cm6 cm7 cm9, for every version another android version.

CM9 in production or bad link?

I spotted this: http://changelog.bbqdroid.org/#bravo/cm9/next
Which seems to suggest a long history of nightly CM9 builds for the Bravo - but I've only got 7.2.0.1 on the device listing. I take it the link is incorrect rather than I just don't find the download and there really is CM9 coming to the Desire? What have I missed?
Thanks,
Matt.
CyanogenMod team does not offer even an experimental CM9 build for Desire so far, however there are several ROMs for Desire that are built using CM9 sources.
You might want to check this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1403113
Do you happen to know if they will be and official stable CM9 release for the HTC Desire, or will the last "official" one be CM7? I guess it might be considered too old/slow for a stable release.
I'm using Sandvold's ICS ROM (0.14) BTW which runs pretty smoothly .
Arite.

Easily the best for me has been this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1746403
It hasnt ever crashed for me unlike erwin P's CM9 so i highly recommend this. I use Nova launcher with 2.6.35.14 -nfinity [email protected] #1 clocked at 352-748 PERFORMANCE which i find the best!
Or you could look in my sig
I was testing the unofficial CM9 for Buzz before finding and installing this AOKP and I have to admit that it runs better than the first.
Now I'm curious about recommended steps and settings after installation. What did you install or how did you set up AOKP after installation?
The second, do I need to install gapps from a zip archive or is it sufficient to just grab the apps from the market store?
What's the matter about a custom MTD partition? I do not know what this means yet but do I need it?

you have to flash gapps every time you install a non-stock ROM - it's mandatory to get Google's applications working later (you can't just install the apps, market won't even work without gapps...). The background is simple: while Google has open sourced Android they haven't done the same with their applications (market, gmail etc.). So although Google does give them for free custom ROMs legally just aren't allowed to include gapps. You just have to flash them when installing a new ROM (or after a wipe of system partition).
Please note that there are different gapps for Android 2.3.x and 4.x (plus a stripped version "tinygapps" - could be found in ErwinP.'s CM9 thread if I remember correctly).

not mandatory but worth consideration - decide yourself, use the link in my sig
Very much tanks for the MTD partition hint. I never understood what this meant but now I successfully applied your thread recommendation and the device works even smoother now.
As for gapps, how can it be then that after flashing gapps I do not have any of these apps installed but still have to go to the market to install them manually?

For the need of installing from market - that's pretty easy: the apps have a much higher update frequency than gapps - so they don't have to update gapps also each time when one of the apps is updated
Why you have to flash/install gapps separately: Google just excluded a part of their Android OS when they open sourced it because it has been to close to their own services. Most likely they don't want hundreds of thousands of developers hack around the play store, Gmail etc. (not only for the money but to make sure that they keep control, it's not messed up and they don't have to ask for permission themselves)
i think that AOKP would be the ebst ics rom. Try to get MTD and install nFinity PLAY kernel and you'll be satisfied
There are a bunch of new ROMs, mostly based on CM9 by ErwinP.
All I know so far are:
The inofficial CM9
AOKP CM9
LiGux CM9
PARANOIDANDROID for Wildfire
Miuiv4|V2.9.21|Unofficial SnapSeries
Xperia Lovin Ice Cream V 1.0
Are there more?
So far Ligux works best for me. Smoothest, longest battery life, no compatibility issues.
SO,which one is the best? LiGux or AOKP? I am confused)

Try them out yourself and find out
i think ligux is better because it is still updated. second and latest update for aokp is really bad imo. first version was the best but when we compare ligux and aokp then ligux won of course. less bugs and its faster (;

There is a new ICS ROM out there, called [ROM][4.0.4]ICS LiGux for Wildfire - v1.1. So far the experiences seem to be overall positive.
By the way, is there a complete overview of all ICS ROMs for Buzz?
All I know are:
The inofficial CM9
AOKP CM9
LiGux CM9

yes there is the miuiv4 also but it's a little slow.

miui always will be slow for willys because it requires gpu like ics but on miui there are more special effects imo (; anyway there is not any rc or stable version miui for wildfire unfortunately so i cannot say exactly (;

I too found ligux to be much smoother than AOKP.
I think erwin's rom is the best. On AOKP the caller runs really slow. .
like on cm 7 (;
