I thought about flashing a custom ROM for a while now, so which one should I try 1st, I like cm10 a lot though

Try Aokp and franco kernel with 512 GPU if you want a 4.1.2 ROM.
For 4.2 I've found the zen ghost protocol kernel and cataclysm rom to be quite good, but 4.2 is not as smooth as 4.1.2 yet.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
If you're moving to a custom rom it might be easier to stick with a 4.2 based as most (if not all) will be moving to the latest version soon.
I've tested most of the gnex roms and paranoid android is my favourite together with franco kernel. I'm testing KALO 4.2 v5 now with trinity alpha4 which is working really well, great battery, colours and speed. I am waiting for paranoid android to upgrade to 4.2 though as I miss the features of that rom too much!
for 4.1.2 cna or pa + trinity are best.. for 4.2 stock or daxs fnv aosp + franco are best, the reason for franco being better than trinity is the SOD issue on 4.2 trinity kernel
4.1 = PA + ZenSeries
4.2 = FNV + Anarkia 444PGM ( No DeepSleep with ZenSeries v7 )

sod has been confirmed on the stock 4.2 rom/kernel, with or without root. so it seems as its not a trinity issue, but a 4.2 issue.

What is the differnce between these two? The milestone version works well on my GN CDMA, wondering if the nightlies will work better?
Also, what roms work with francos kernel? I am running ICS 4.04, and I know aokp wont work with 4.04.
1. its kernel not kernal.
2. milestone = stable, nightly = may be unstable.. use if you're experienced -- may have bugs
3. 4.0.4 or 4.0.3 roms. and aokp does work with franco kernel

Thank you, I found a build of aokp that works with 4.04. Would you say that nightly is better, though unstable?
What is the best ROM and Kernel combination? I used Lupus stock kernel with Xperia ICS & JB Remix. But it isn't that battery friendly. Please recommend me the best battery saving kernel and rom mixture?

I would recommand Omega ROM and ARC/S-Advanced stock kernel.
I'm staying with standard xperia style in Aroma installer, as I often get a lot of problems with GX style apps.
I was a big fan of Jelly Sandwich but it moves too quick and not tested enough to be perfectly stable.
Jelly sandwich 6.0 runs perfectly fine and smooth - games are even running faster, too
I am on Stock kernel with CWM

I use this kernel:

and this rom:

..
I never paid attention to what kernel I had before I flashed Franco's kernel but I'm thinking about uninstalling it since it's been giving me a lot of bugs and I'm thinking about flashing Faux but I'm not sure if uninstalling the Franco Kernel Updater removes Franco Kernel. If it does, how do I flash Faux kernel?
I think faux kernel is the default kernel with Aokp build 3. You can reflash the rom or find the faux kernel thread, download kernel and flash.
faux kernel
Here is a link to his kernels, myself I always run the latest,no problems yet.
Galaxy Nexus/Toro for JB is at bottom

What rom do you have? Franco kernel is great with AOKP based roms. Give it a chance! (Also no bugs here caused from kernel)

Since Arco has make kernel for android 4.2.2. , that make developer can compile a Custom ROM for us easier. :fingers-crossed:

LiquidSmooth is based on Android 4.2.2 and features many of the modifications found on other popular custom ROMs. As the name suggests, the ROM is meant to be as smooth and responsive as possible. The software and hardware buttons and the status bar can be customized. Themes are also supported.

Arco really awesome ^^ will remember him as a hero for our W.
and thanks to the other developer who work hard to make our Wonder become Wonderfull. :highfive:
I'm very interested in PACman rom since it's the hybrid of 3 godly roms in 1 xD! Sadly, the dev of that rom for our phone is outdated (maybe even discontinued)
You can try Root-Box and liquid smooth... it was the same with PAC-Man. 3 in 1. jUst different name, tweaks, style, and maybe more stable
My eye is locked at Liquid Smooth too! No base! If im not wrong...

Liquid Smooth really awsome but i think gaming performance is not good
I am using Liquidsmooth and it's superb awesome...
L.Smooth is the combination of AOKP, PA, and CM.
That ROM is aim for performance ^_^
It does not BASE from CM. but combination..
It just take Arco kernel, and compile the original liquid smooth rom
CoRrect me if i am wrong:highfive:
I am pretty sure the gaming will good too :good:
Try using MArdiadi or hurtsky kernel if u want have a good gaming experience.
Love Liquid Smooth...

whats the best ROM solution for a i8150 performance / good battery life?
btw, Im using CM9 (final EOL) + Hurtsky's kernel REV10
Hello guys so i open this threat just for people can comment what rom they are using, and meaby discust which one is better , so if u want to share with us your rom feel free to comment below
BTW hers my Rom : 4.2.2 beta 3 by acro- the most stable ever
I use growl v6 with kernel 3.67 madridi, super smooth and my battery lasts longer.
Pacman rom has every options that I need, but its unusable because of too much lags (maybe eats a lot of RAM).
Carbon is usable and smooth with 3.70 madridi kernel, but growl I think fits my needs.
Cyanogenmod 10.2 alpha 4 with stock kernel

CM11 by arco
CM11 by arco. This is the best rom ever.
I used to flash every single update Sir Arco dished out (CM9 -> CM10 -> CM10.1). I used CM10.1 beta 1 for a very long time. It's a great rom, the extra features and smoothness was great however my battery life was abysmal for some reason (I go pristine before each flash. It was great until RC8, but the battery life dropped significantly after RC9). I figured I don't use the JellyBean features much (Google Now is great, but it's a battery and memory hog for a low specced device such as ours) so I went back to CM9 EOL with Hurtsky's REV9 kernel, deleted the apps I don't frequently use like facebook, tango and viber, and now I have a super smooth device with a battery that lasts about 1.5 days with moderate use ^_^
hello
hello i am andreas from cyprus. after damaging my second htc one x i ended up the samsung wonderer until i buy the N5...
