Honestly on stock I was losing 2-3% an hour on standby from the get go (even had google now and motion disabled) Flashed the Jedi 4 pre rom 3 days ago and now steadily lose 0.5 to 1.0% an hour on standby. Could just be me, but I'm getting much better battery life than stock now!

Quick question. What link did you use to root your phone. The one from chainfire or the other one from mskip.

Stock with bloat... but I froze it. Then again, bloat has nothing to do with battery life, I just didn't like the icons in my app drawer, lol. I uninstalled the games that came with to free up additional space.
I have yet to see a single ROM that comes close to stock screen times or battery use screenshots. To be honest, I don't see the need for ROMs currently. Most people could do more with a launcher.
Yeah I feel ya. Kept going back to rooted stock, always seems to be better for some reason!! Anybody know why

I think it's because Samsung bolts down a lot of their code, and it's very difficult to get everything working well once you start tinkering with it. From what I read, a lot of ROMs would fix one thing, and break another in the process.

What's up everyone, new to this forum, have had my phone for a little bit now, and need some tethering for my HP tablet with android. So its time to root!
I was looking at some of the Rom's and thought I'd get some of your opinions.
I like stock, but battery life is important and speed, any suggestions?

You will want to get one eventually though. The roms are fairly large averaging 300 mb. I think I have most if not all of them stored on my external card

UPDATE!!! I just installed agats kernel last night at 9p.m and today at 10:00 am my battery life has move than doubled from what it was. The onething I noticed that the Android percentage dropped from 63% to 39% when I reviewed what was using my battery. Anyone else seen this? Agats 2.2 kernel is the one I installed.

I thought it was bad at first but yesterday I got 12 hours and today so far its at 11 hours and 30 min's and is still at 57%. Its only gonna get better cause the OS is still the highest thing draining my battery so its still pulling the stats. I think its good battery life.
Same as flashing any ROM. It takes a couple of days for the battery to settle into the ROM. The first couple of charge cycles are probably gonna be garbage. After a few days you should be fine. Don't worry about all the whiners.
I think people been exaggerating the battery drain.. It hasn't been bad.. Just gotta give stuff time to settle in and stop tweaking stuff and always changing up something... I been having great battery with heavy usage

Personally, I have not had any issues. In fact, my battery life has significantly improved. I am still trying to pin down if it is app or ROM related.

What do you mean stock is blotchy but just flashed the goodness? Is ff18 not the latest stock? And is there a good one click to get ff18? I still haven't experienced ics yet. Had a motorola electrify with locked up tight bootloader and was cut of ex gf's plan, got a sprint Samsung galaxy s 2 and flagged it to page plus, now I know the did razr has problems not working on page plus after ics being put on it.... Should I expect same from my Sammy? And looking forward to jellybean

Hello all not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm going from a note 1 to a note 2 very soon and was wondering what the big differences between the new kernals and ROMs were. None of them are stable. If you want stable stick with stock ROM which is very good. If you are OK with some minor unstable-ness then go with CM10.1 which is really nice on this phone.

So the JB ROMs still have the lost call function and the random reboots? Or is there just a base debloated JB type ROM that don't suffer from those problems?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using Tapatalk 2
Yeah pretty much although cm10.1 has fixed a lot and those guys are very good developers. Most other ROMs are just mods of CM. There is still some issues with CM but minor I personally never had a lost call or reboot but sounds on calls sometimes is an issue and camera freezes and video recording has lags and stuttering.

This is not true. Clean ROM is just as stable, if not more stable than stock. It's essentially a stock ROM that had been debloated and had some performance tweaks. I switched over and haven't looked back.

Seeder wrecked my battery life hard core so watch out people. I posted in that original thread a few months ago whenever it came out and the developer responded to me saying that our phones already have this tweak enabled. Because of that when you install seeder on the 747 conflicts happen. I'm not a dev so sorry if that is too basic of a explanation.
Essentially. Proceed with caution. My battery life dropped from 1 day to 4 hours after installing this.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
I'm using CrossBreeder instead of Seeder, and my battery life has not taken a hit with it. Search for it here on XDA.
So I did a little research for this app
And dig deep and its a placebo.
It honestly just stops the CPU from sleeping. Nothing else......
This will drain your battery and screw things up if you're running any governors on a modified kernel.
Our devices are clocked at 1.5Ghz with 2gb of RAM.
if you're experiencing lag something is wrong and you don't need these kind of apps.

I have been flashing so many different roms and I love all of them. They are all so legit and the devs are frikken amazing with their work...
The Roms that I flash just slow down or something goes wrong in a few weeks and then I have to flash something else.
What is the Rom that you use that has been working for a few months? I would like EVERYTHING to work.

Whompasaurus + persius + crossbreeder mod + force gpu rendering and set transitions at 0.5 sec (both under developer settings). I don't remember the last time I turned off my phone, everything is just so fast and smooth all the time. Make sure to turn off data, and autosync when not using your phone, and you'll practically have the best battery life ever.

No where. These threads are not allowed. I have seen them get pretty nasty before. Try them out and find what you like. These devs put tremendous amounts of time to put these out. At least use just a little bit of your time to read the different op's and flash them yourself. Goodluck.
