I recently tried to root my Kindle Fire using KFU however when it was trying to install FFF the fire rebooted and is now stuck at the bootloader with no animation. It's current not recognized by adb and it shows up in device manager as an unknown device. I've tried the kindle fire unbrick utility and several other programs and I have no idea what to try next. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Please, please, really, help me out. My kindle fire is bricked, I tried Unbrick tool and a lot of other things, like installing again the drivers, the sdk, but nothing works at all!!
Here is the thing: When I was rooting my Kindle, my building got a blackout during the root process, and when the light goes on, my kindle was stucked on "Kindle Fire" logo. When I use adb devices, nothing shows. When I connect to Windows, it shows as a Unknown device, and when I try to install adb composite, it give a message saying that the driver android_winusb is not compatible with the hardware connected to USB. So, I can now really use this brand new Kindle Fire as a brick? I bought it on june 06 2012 !!!!!! Please, help me with this.. please..

I was in the same place yesterday
Uninstall the unknown usb driver
Unplug kindle from usb
Reboot pc
Install drivers from kindle fire utility using the install_drivers bat
Plug kindle in, should recognize as adb device (if it shows up as a kindle uninstall those and reboot)
You may need to use kfu to get into normal bootmode if stuck in fastbook onc the drivers are set

Stuck in Kindle Fire logo mostly means your your KF is in fast boot mode. Try unplug your KF, get the latest KFU and reinstall drivers, reboot pc and reconnect KF.
Open KFU and select normal boot mode.

Thank you for the answers, but it is still not working. I did everything you told me, but its not working. My Windows 7 set the device as unknown. When I set it to normal boot mode, the program starts to wait for the device that is already pluged in.

First figure out where it's getting stuck in the boot process. If the bootlogo appears on the display and stays that way without ever blacking out, then it's in fastboot mode.

If it does go black before showing the bootlogo again, then it's no longer in fastboot mode and its trying to boot into something. In this case, you'll have to hope that it's getting far enough into the boot process that it can accept adb commands from your computer.
Either way, you'll have to make sure the drivers are working properly.

The second one covers drivers, but the first 3 posts in general should be helpful to you. If it's not in fastboot mode and you can't get it to execute adb commands, you can either get a factory cable or open up the back cover on the device and use Firekit.
The title explains it all for the most part.
I have tried various methods such as manual installs of the drivers to restoring my kindle, restarting my computer, etc.
no matter what I do kfu does not want to say online or detect my kindle.
Also I renamed my folder from Kindle Fire Utility to KFU and moved it onto C: directly.
Any help is greatly appreciated, as this is my first time rooting on the 6.3.1 so this new way of rooting should be simpler...

I'm tired of searching Google for answers and not finding them. So the problem is my Kindle Fire won't connect via USB to my PC, it will charge on it though. Now, this is where MY SITUATION IS DIFFERENT. Yes that is all caps for people who want to skip over these crucial details.

I feel like I'm forgetting some of the other more common answers that don't apply to me. Basically, I want to connect to my Kindle Fire to my PC but I have nothing on the PC end to recognize the Kindle Fire. It was rooted using the Kindle Fire utility 0.9.6, I unrooted using said utility as well and had to go and manually delete something IIRC so that it would boot normally into Kindle Fire, but it also not takes a lot longer to boot than it did out of the box. Is it possibly still rooted?
ALSO, Kindle Fire utility 0.9.6 can't find the Kindle Fire either.
What do I do?

I don't believe it did, or does. Whatever KFU put on it as standard is what it had on it. The most frustrating part of it is I don't have anything in Device Manager for it. No android phone, no Kindle/Kindle Fire, or Amazon, nothing. Installing the drivers does nothing, I even did a factory reset on the Kindle Fire and got nothing. I'm lost on this and I really want to put some books on my Kindle Fire so I don't have to read them on my iPhone.
When you boot your device, what does the boot logo look like (images, color, etc.)?

Drivers are most likely the reason your computer won't detect the device correctly. Unfortunately with Windows, there is about a hundred solutions to this problem and none of them are effective enough to be called a real fix.
If you have a flash drive, you can set up a Linux LiveUSB and run SoupKit so you can issuee adb and fastboot commands, without dealing with Windows based driver problems and you can work to get to the root of your problem more effectively.

All right, do I need to download and install android sdk for Linux? Using terminal and looking for adb devices using the Linux LiveUSB with SoupKit didn't find any adb devices with the Kindle Fire plugged in. So I assume I need to download sdk to install drivers?

If you used the preconfigured iso no other steps are needed. Adb and fastboot are already setup. Time to consider your cable and or USB port that you are using.
Might be cable, plugged it into another computer (running windows) and it didn't see it.

Ok. Let me preface this with I know that there are many different forums/posts/discussions/whatevers concerning that the first generation Kindle Fire gets stuck in a bootloop. I have scoured the web and tried every solution I could find. The most recent one was using the soupkit to try and fix it. I even bought a factory cable to attempt to gain access to fastboot mode for the soupkit. With a normal USB cable, the soupkit recognizes the kindle fire with adb access. When I connect the factory cable, however, neither fastboot commands or adb commands work. The kindle fire has no animation at all and just stays at the white and orange kindle fire logo, regardless of a cable plugged in. The battery is charged, as indicated by the LED light and the fact that it will stay on when not connected to a power source. The kindle has been in this state for month, but if I recall correctly it was running Jelly Bean. Then, I was trying to get back to the stock Amazon OS. I flashed their files, but apparently that just bricked the kindle fire. Sorry for such a long post, but anything is worth trying at this point. I have access to all operating systems as far as computers go (Linux, Mac OSX, and Windows XP) Thank you in advance.

I think you tried to flash the stock firmware for the 2nd gen kindle fire. for the original kindle fire the firmware will always be in the 6.x.x range. for the second gen it will be in the 10.x.x range. I'm sorry to say though i'm not going to be any help here because i haven't ever hit a brick on my kindle (just on my Optimus V). If you look in the general section i think there is an unbrick utility though. Post results.
I do remember someone said that when they used kfu on xp it works fine. You may want to use it so that you can restore as kfu gas the ability to restore it.

Hey guys my name is Vito, even though this is my first post I have been reading Xda developers forums for a while. More than a year ago I bricked my first generation Kindle Fire and ever since been trying to unbrick it. These days i have a new version of kindle fire but from time to time i get back into trying to fix the old tablet without succeeding. I've read many threads on this forum in regards to Kindle Fire trouble shooting and used the search button dozens of times so i hope i don't repeat an existing threads. I am posting here as my last resort to try to trouble shoot the problem and get some experienced advice to hopefully fix the tablet because i failed trying to fix it on my own.
My kindle fire 1st gen has been rooted, it has FireFireFire bootloader v1.4a and working TWRP v2.2.2.1 also I got factory cable and otg cable, and USB debugging Disabled, No ROM,
How I bricked it: One day i was playing with an operating system tuning application and after pressing auto tune kindle fire either froze or shut down and when i power it back on it would just freeze on "booting, with blue kindle fire logo". That's where i made a few mistakes i believe, instead of researching xda developers forum thoroughly i went into TWRP and wiped cache, dalvik cache, factory reset, and unfortunately system (ROM) however i did not wiped the external storage so that still there. Also USB debugging was disabled on my kindle fire at the time i bricked the device.
What I tried to fix it: I tried to install and re install many different kindle fire drivers for windows on at least 4 different computers and operating systems ( XP, WIN7, WIN8 ) but my kindle fire would not be detected and adb would not work, also tried going trough guides on installing Android SDK and getting ADB working but now i know that i wont be able to get ADB working without having USB debugging enabled.
So i ended up with only one option Fastboot. I tried installing Ubuntu on one of the computers with soupkit but linux would not recognize kindle fire being connected, it would always say waiting for device, same thing would be if i log on to ubuntu from flash drive boot.
Also when i type # lsusb command in ubuntu command prompt it gives me all usb ports and connected devices but kindle fire does not get detected in any mode while my new kindle fire does get detected in ubuntu once connected.
When i get into fastboot mode and i type # fastboot getvar product every time i get < waiting for device >.
So that's about it, all the above i tried and re tried hoping to get it going but im either doomed or im just doing something wrong or missing something all the way which is possible. I would really appreciate anyone's help and feedback on this post and would really love to just try to figure this thing out.

I am new and far from an expert, however, I just discovered if you have TWRP, there is an option to mount the sdcard space and copy files. Not sure about the version you have but give it a try:
- Connect USB to PC
- Boot on TWRP
- Mount sdcard
- copy ROM (make sure you use one that works with your TWRP version and whatever other software is there)
- install ROM
Like I said, far from expert, but I believe all you need is a ROM.

it does not mount it? Or it does not show on Windows? If it is the Windows part, you probably need the drivers. I used Kindle Fire Utility v0.9.9.zip.
