Googke Now voice search not working - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

Don't know if I changed some settings by accident, but the Google Now voice search is not working. After I speak into the mic, , the can't recognize what I said but rather keeps runingin circles trying to understand me. Same happens in the Google navigation voice search. Used to be working fine in both apps.

S Voice "voice" all jacked up.

My S Voice lady's voice used to sound pretty decent. Now it just sounds like a crappy robotic terrible sounding voice and I can't figure out why it would have changed? I've played with all the setting i could think of?
Any ideas?
i noticed also mines is starting to sound like the google maps navigation lady but for some reason s voice has been alot better at recognizing what i say

I noticed this too. I have also tried pretty much every setting I can find. It sounded good one day, then started sounding crappy and robotic the next . I'm on stock rom not rooted.
have any of you used my guide to replacing s voice with Google now by any chance? I noticed my s voice did this after I made the switch, possibly due to the offline voice typing.

I have not used the guide to replace S Voice with Google Now. I have also tried clearing the app cache and settings. I am also 100% stock. It sounded good one day, and then the next the voice had changed into a very robotic sounding voice. Very strange. I don't know if they changed their TTS engine or something, but it's certainly worse than it was.
In my settings for everything else, I use Ivona TTS, and it's great. However SVoice doesn't seem to use it.

Yep, this happened to mine too. I even tried re-flashing the entire ROM via Odin and it still reverts to that robotic lady. What I ended up doing was going to "Applications" and disabling the Samsung TTS engine as well as the Google one. Doing this allows you to use Ivona or SVOX. Not sure why S-Voice doesn't seem to go by the system settings. Anyhow, it would be interesting to see why this has happened! But I actually just disable S-Voice and started using Speaktoit Assistant which has it's own voice (and uses the ones on your phone if you like) and seems to be much better than S-Voice. Just a thought.
Try clearing app data then check.

Hi Guys,
I have the same problem, further investigation indicates that somehow my Galaxy S3 (rooted) only uses Samsung TTS engine which sounds robotic, even I choose Google TTS in the language and input settings as TTS output. I had to disable samsung TTS to use google TTS. hope this helps

[Q] S Voice - I'd rather use Google

I had some fun playing with S Voice when I first got my phone, but it quickly got frustrating. I use my Bluetooth earpiece a lot (DH calls it my Borg Implant...) and I'm used to using voice control on my Vibrant. I'm finding that when I try to do the same on the S3, that S Voice gets it wrong way more often than right. I'll tell it to call my Mom by name, it'll call my Mother In Law. Or random numbers. I had to change Mom's name in my contact list to "Mom." I also can't get it to work with playing music in Google Music.
I'd prefer Google search with my bluetooth but I don't know how to make that happen. I've tried going in to the apps and disabling S Voice, and that did indeed not cause it to come up when I touch the button on my bluetooth, but nothing happened.
Is there a way to cause Google Search to be the default again when I want to search for something, play a song, compose a text, or call someone?
Thanks for any advice.
I would love to know this as well. If there's a way to override S Voice with Google voice search, I will do it in a heartbeat. Anyone?

Get titanium backup and "freeze" S-voice is a solution I would suggest. As well as clearing the data and cache of S-voice in app manager under system settings because it should clear the S-voice being default. Please thank me if I have helped you. Take care
Try this. Double tap Home to open Svoice. Press menu, then settings and disable everything!
Next go to Settings - Language and Input
Press Voice Recognizer and you should be able to choose Google.
Then press Voice Search to configure.
If you can't choose Google, try switching to the Swype keyboard, then try again.
I hope this helps!
I got this partially, enough to be getting on with. I went into my app manager and disabled S Voice. Now when I touch my bluetooth, it gives me Google's voice dialer.
I wouldn't mind S Voice so much if it actually worked.

Thanks for the suggestion! What I ended up doing (because I'm not rooted) is I disabled S-Voice, then installed an app called Home2 Shortcut (can't post link to Play Store - sorry!). That allowed me to choose the app I want to launch on double-tap of the home button. Works flawlessly!!
Hey does s voice work on 4g/3g? because i tried it and it said network error and then i try with wifi and it works fine!

S Voice in the new 4.1 update

Is it just me or has S voice improved in the new update. It seems to be faster, still not as good as Google Now, but it seems to me its better than it was in ICS.

Can Google Now perform voice dialing features from a Bluetooth headset? I really miss that about my BlackBerry, the voice recognition for calling people from my headset was superb. It absolutely sucked in S-Voice on ICS.
I'll never use S-Voice again, except to ask it stupid questions. I've tried to use it to navigate somewhere and it couldn't find a simple street address, so I had to close that, over up the nav app and it found it right away. Hopefully Google Now will do it right.

Yes it can. But you have to freeze s voice to get it to work right.

I prefer Google now over s voice, Google now feels more polished. I found this video while back that goes over some of the cool things Google now can do.

Google Now is awesome. Its the only app which made me flash all the buggy JB leaks from other carriers...
I like GoogleSVoice
Agreed about the voice dialing. I have disabled S-Voice yet Google Now still tries to do an internet search on everything even if I specifically say to dial a contact.
Is there a way to launch goggle search with the home button (like S Voice)?
i heard that they had made some improvement to s voice with jelly bean but google now is too sweet to switch back from

Google Maps Navigation TTS issues

Hello,
I'm posting about an issue I have with google maps. This isn't just a google maps issue but happens mostly on google maps when doing voice navigation.
Here is the issue: I go to settings and select Ivona Text-To-Speech as my default TTS engine. I select British English as my language and I choose a nice female British voice. This all seems fine. I open up Google Maps and start navigation and then I get a nice British male voice. Is there no way to switch it to a female voice even though the voice is specified in the settings under my default TTS?
I can force this to work via morelocale2 but right in the middle of navigating it switches to the male voice and then back. Also sometimes it just does the male voice and I have to waste 45 minutes of my time screwing around to get it to work properly with the correct voice.
Maybe someone needs to make a custom menu that will allow us to choose a voice? I mean someone might want to use a default voice for their system as say DARTH VADER then, have a female or male british or US voice for navigation.
Does anyone have a fix for this, it's very frusturating.
Thanks
Wow 45 minutes changing a voice setting. You must really hate the Google voice sound huh. Lol
Never tried it so not sure how it'll be done. But that's probably why your having issues with it, because it doesn't like the audio to be changed!

Pico TTS is horrible for everything, Ivona TTS is much better. This is a flaw in android, and a major one I might add.

Ok Google and Hey Google...

I got a couple home minis coming and want to set them up to work with hey Google while my phone (Pixel 2 XL) responds to ok Google. I read somewhere someone describing doing this but can't recall where or how.
Problem us, my phone assistant doesn't seem to have a way to disable hey Google. If I delete and retrain the voice model it asks for three ok Google and then one hey Google no matter what.
Anyone know where/how I can get the phone assistant to ignore hey Google so I don't activate my phone and home minis at the same time?
I'd like to know this, too.
Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using XDA-Developers Legacy app
Try uninstalling the Google app updates. Then retrain. It only asks for OK Google until you install the Google updates. Not sure if you are forced to retrain with hey Google after updating again.
Yeah that's kind of a weird thing. When I'm going to bed and I want the lights off my device is all turned on and try to fight to turn off the light first. Google needs to work on this
What you can when you train the voice so the okay Google on your phone in your normal voice and hey Google in a high pitched voice you'd never use.
Reverse it for your Google home. So when you do okay Google in your normal voice your phone will activate and when you do hey Google in your normal voice your home will activate.

Your Google home mini will take precedence when saying hey or ok Google near him and the phone, don't worry.
I did this last night.
Phone: use OK Google
mini: use Hey Google
Seems to work and the voice recognition works between myself and the kids.

It is just script on a screen.
Say whatever you want.
I have a couple of Google Homes. Most of the time my phone and Home could figure out which way i was talking but not everytime.
i blew away the voice training.
I only use "OK Google" on my phone
I only use "Hey Google" with my home.
No issues since.

I thought the same and only ever said ok Google for the training but it responds if I say hey Google nonetheless.
