I have tried several apps to change the screen Dpi but none stick or auto reboot to stock Dpi. Are there any tips that one can offer to change to Dpi of say 240 and have it stick? Even just some tips to change it and stick would be great. Thanks to all in advance.

I just use root explorer to locate build.prop and then open it using the default text editor and look for "320" and then change that to whatever you want. I use 200

Rom toolbox works also

I've tried DPI 300

How are you trying to change it? Via an app or a manual build.prop edit?

you need to use a root file explorer, and give it permission.

You do know that ParanoidAndroid rom has special DPI controls built in for per app settings etc?
Settings >> Paranoid Settings
Here you can set specific DPI/UI modes for each individual APP / System etc.
I think as these settings are driven from within the ROM the changes made by any other method will break the ROM.
Sorry i can't go into exact specifics i dont use the ROM anymore.
Hope this helps!
Cheers

I'm on Jedi Mind Tricks ported rom. Anyone know of a compatible density app? Modder won't boot thus far. Any help or suggestions fam?

Download play store and framework from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1639213
Then use Rom Toolbox to change your lcd density.
I've never been able to boot after using lcd modder even with darkside.

Even better, use root explorer to open build.prop. scroll until you see the density: 240. Change it from there and save, reboot. Just keep in mind your phone may not boot regardless of how small of a difference you make so always nandroid first

I used ROM toolbox and it works like charm.. I set it to 200 and also play store will display apps incompatible , to fix this use LCD density modder and click on fix market issues and install it..then u r ready to go.

Yea been there and also couldn't find one either. It seems the mods currently available are meant for the 4.1.1. If you really want the exact same experience as the Note 10.1 then you should try Mini Tab Rom.
Also, this might sound dumb, but try changing the extension of the zip file from .zip to .apk and then try installing.

That only changes it to phablet mode but not tablet ui. A tablet mode would mean the status bar would be on the bottom.

In "xposed app settings" (a module you have to install for the "xposed installer".
There you can set app specific settings like resolution.

Are you trying to change just that? because its part of systemUi and would be a little hard to do on its own
I am trying to change the whole gui, but when I change the android system dpi it only changes like the power pop up menus. Not sure what I should change to get the status bar (and the drag down toggle) to change

Use this app
Playstore Link : LCDDensity
ROOT is Must
ROOT your Grand first, then change the DPI inside the file Build.prop
use any free app in the playstore (build.prop editor) to change any parameter (find ro.sf.lcd_density) in the build.prop.
change the density from 240 (default) to 200 (recommended) or any number you want.. (#smaller number = smaller font size)
Restart and done..
*you can repeat the process (try other DPI) to see the different.
