[MOD][APP][UPDATE 4.0.26] 320DPI GoogleServicesFramework and google play - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

Hey guys. this is a simple mod to remove the DPI checking from google services framework and the play store. So no matter what DPI you choose to run on your phone. This google play store will ALWAYS report back as having a 320dpi.
Whos it for:
Only the people who change their DPI and have compatibility issues. (Like me)
I run a 200 dpi so i get "This app is not compatible with your device" error when trying to download almost every app so i moddified the latest google play store (3.10.9)
I thank rel500 for making us aware of the latest market. You can find the original one there as well.
Hope you guys get use out of this like i do.
TO INSTALL:
Wipe market and google services framework data from the "Manage apps" section in settings and uninstall any updates
Reboot to recovery and flash attached zip. reboot and profit
IMPORTANT
If you are getting Error retrieving information from server. [RH-01] then you MUST remove your Google Account, and re-add your account. Should fix it.
UPDATED TO 4.0.26

thanks for doing this. i have a request if its not too much trouble. if you dont have the time, its ok as i've downloaded your decompiling tool and this week i plan on getting my hands dirty so i can modify the icons on Apex Launcher to be bigger than default. 56 to be exact. but im just not sure how to do this mod.
k, for my request, do you think you could make one that uses 240 as a default? my default is 240 on my sg2 epic4gtouch and i like to run at 182.
thanks for you contribution and if youre too busy, its ok i understand.

I use this on my Galaxy S2 as well i dont think it will matter if anything it will display more apps. So you can flash this to your SGS2.
And were you requesting help for making the apex icons larger? And im not exactly certain which icons you want larger but i use apex myself (pro) and you can change the grid size for the home screen and the app drawer which then makes the icons bigger or smaller based off the grid size.(i think)

I didn't remove the automatic updates, so Google will automatically update itself anyhow. So it would only last for maybe a day.

Complete ICS App Collections for Android 2.2+

The Ice cream Sandwich has a really mind blowing UI, Google tried to modify almost all system apps.
Here is some original app collections, which really works for Gingerbread & other older versions.
The Apps Collections
Android Market 3.2.0
Google Music 4.0.1
Google Maps 5.11.0
Street View 1.7.0.4
Google+ 2.0.0
Just install like a normal app. Will be updated as soon as more apps available.
If anyone has problems installing market 3.2.0, try this post. This may be helpful to you.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1297040
Note : There may be updated versions of the apps listed, but this is just a collection from Galaxy Nexus.
Any hope for the launcher? Or the browser? Or Somthing else interesting....
are those install APK, or just copy and replace over old APK ?
Market and Music installed ok.
Not having any luck with Maps and Street View. Do they even have any significant changes?
Maps is not 5.10.2
It's the ownhere/Brut.all 5.10.1 mod of the maps...

Yes i now that fake ICS Launcher....and i hate it. Is is not good in anything. Before i use something like that i use Go launcher and istall a ICS Theme.....
Thx. But the market not works on HTC Wildfire S.
Start the install and then:
"application not installed"
What is the problem ? :|
(This works only whit root -ed phones? )
Thanks you very much !
But I have the same prob than zoltank but for Music, Market et Google+ =/
It's not the first time i install the three but here, everytime "app not installed" and my phone is rooted so it's not that =/
Any ideas ?
try uninstalling the old apps before installing the new ones
Too bad no =(
Uninstall the Market, i came back on the 1st version on the Nexus but it's the same, now the update roll on and i'm again with 3.1.5.
No prob, that will coming in time =)
Thank you !
i was able to install everything except Market 3.2
i uninstalled the old one and wiped cache, kelvin, etc...
any ideas?
solved
rebooted the phone
then i was able to install
now that it's installed, i get Force Close every time i try to install something from market
going back to 3.1.5
Hi, if you are having trouble installing the market try this. Its what I did to get it working on my o2x
You will need root explorer
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1297322
Market doesn't work on Galaxy S Plus
Thanks for these
Market works perfectly on rooted Flyer. The tiles fill out the screen nicer than 3.1.5. No force close issues. On edit: it drops an error when trying to get a non-free app....
G+ breaks the People (htccontacts.apk) app.
Music installs, but I use the HTC one so not much testing after install.
Maps, untested.
Street view, untested.
---
On edit: Maps installs and works. Street view errors on install.
G+ app works perfectly on stock N1 on 2.3.6, no adverse side effects. Been using it since it originally leaked a couple-ish weeks ago.

My guess is the ones already in the first post are the only ones that are gonna install on gingerbread. You can take all the apps from the galaxy nexus dump, put them in a folder on your sdcard, and browse to it with root explorer. you'll see the only ones that have none default icons are the ones in the first post. the ones with app icons are the only ones that actually install. all other give parsing errors since you need ICS to install them.

[Q] Has anyone noticed...

has anyone noticed that with the recent ICS leaks that alot of apps that were compatible with our phone are not now. On 4.0.3 leaks i could still get apps of the market, on the 4.0.4 leaks i can't. Example directv, on market says not compatible, walgreens app says not compatible. They were before, now they not. I have the apps in my dropbox so no biggie, but was just wondering if there is that much difference between 4.0.3 & 4.0.4 that would make apps not compatible anymore.

That is a good observation Isaac.
I'm willing to bet that the apps check the build version that is written into the build.prop file. I'm not having issues but if someone is and knows how to edit their build.prop file maybe change this line back to 4.0.3 to see if it works:
ro.build.version.release=4.0.4
Well, after backing up their rom first of course.
Edit: FYI, do not edit build.prop unless you know what you're doing. The system may not boot if this file is edited incorrectly.

Different devices have different dpi and that is part of what Play Store checks. Example: if I change my dpi to under 190, 128 specially, Google will display tablet apps. So, if your dpi doesn't match the phone that Google detects, it breaks.
In the Tablet mode ui thread, there is a hacked Play Store that automatically reports your dpi as 240 so that it doesn't break.
Yea changing the dpi back fixed it

Off the top of my head, if you flashed a custom ROM, it could be that.
I ran a WW firmware ROM on my US Transformer Prime and certain apps became incompatible.

Changing your DPI can cause compatibility issues. If you haven't changed that, you may wanna try wiping data for play store app in settings.

OK, I cleared caches, and that seems to have done the trick for MOST of the apps that showed incompatible. Strangely, GMail still shows incompatible, but I can deal with that. I was having autorotation problems and that's fixed now, too.
Thanks to all for your assistance.

Market and LCD Density Issue

Does anyone know of a permanent fix for the market saying "incompatible device" when you change the LCD Density? I have followed all the steps (for example, listed in AOKP roms) and even though it works for a few days or couple weeks, it still eventually reverts back to the error state.
So, anyone know of a permanent fix?
Download and flash one of the latest modded Play Store apps in the second post of this thread. Each modded Play Store will have proper multi DPI support and may fix your issue.

Google Stock Dialer/Contacts apks

Here's the stock google dialer and contacts app I pulled from my nexus 6 when i had it. It's not the motorola framework dialer and contacts, but pure google stock. They are in separate folders. I've also have a few that I've pulled from the web as well. I hate the ugly skin that lg uses, and miss the true material look from Google.
You HAVE to be rooted for these to even remotely work. Use root explorer or whatever app you use, mount rw and install as system apk (go to system>priv-app). Folder will need rwxr-xr-x permissions. Give app r-r-rw permissions. So far, contacts are working and I've gotten the google in-call ui to work by placing the apk in the lg in-call ui after renaming the original lg-ui. Can't get the dialer to install. LG skin is deeply rooted in thier framework, so it's kind of a pain. I'll keep digging into this to make some progress. In the mean time, if anyone else wants to chip in and help out, please do so.
In the link to my drive folder there will be 4 files. One of them is a flashable zip named GoogleContactsDialer (credits to whoever put this zip together. Wasn't me). Another should be the dialer in non flashable zip, and the other files are the respective standalone apks. I would suggest flashing the flashable zip, as it has the libs folder included.
https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0Byd-3B8ICYfpY1hqODhhMzd4S3M&usp=sharing
**UPDATE**
Ok everyone, I have a quick second to give an update (getting up at 0430 is killing me right now lol) on things in reference to the dialer. Make sure you are using the flashable zip. The separate apks are ok, but the zip makes things easier.
Basically most hassle free method I have used to get it to be the primary dialer and contacts app is by using TB to freeze these 2 LG Dialer and Contact applications that are listed below.
*Call 4.60.79.10
*Contacts 4.56.18
I'm using KLWP and Nova for most of my homescreens. I'm linking the Google dialer apk to whatever phone KLWP icon using Nova Activities>Google Dialer>Phone(com.android.dialer.DialtactsActivity; make sure you select this one). For those that use Zooper, the same method would apply.
In reference to getting the dialer icon to show up in the app drawer on its own, I'm still working on that.

Sorry guys that I've been MIA. Work and personal life have been really busy. I didn't remove the LG apk but just froze them with TB. So far the LG Contacts app doesn't override which is good, and I've set Google Contacts as my default. I'm trying True Caller but honestly don't like it. The Google dialer kicks in but it's random, and it doesn't show in my Nova app drawer. I'll get back to working on this when things slow down for me.

Like you said, it is working - mostly. I no longer see the dreaded LG dialer (yippee!) but a couple of minor anomalies remain.
On an incoming call I do not get a full scree caller id and swipe to answer as I did on the N4 device;
Like you, I had to use Nova to create the desktop icon (which is no big deal I suppose);
When I bring up the dialer I see a "Speed Dial" tab but I don't see all my favorites (starred contacts). I tried clearing cache and data for the dialer but is not showing me the same starred contacts as the Contacts app;
Other than the above it seems to work quite well.
[ EDIT ] It seems that there is a difference between the contacts storage that LG maintains and what Google Contacts/Dialer maintains. I cleared data and cache for both, the LG Dialer and the LG Contacts app - note that in my case they were both frozen so I had to use ROM Toolbox to do this - and had the system re-sync contacts with Google. All of the sudden ALL my favorites show up as expected and, incoming caller Id is now displaying as it did on the old Nexus 4. Yippee! Apparently some minor issues can be corrected by reinitializing the contacts database on the phone.

I wonder if one you that's had success with this might be able to offer some assistance...I flashed the Google contacts and dialer zip and froze the two LG files recommended by the OP and all call functionality was disabled. I could launch the Google dialer but could not receive calls. Did I miss a step?

Did you start out with a clean, well working system or could it have remnants of previous attempts to install a dialer? Most of my troubles came from the fact that I missed to clean somethng up from a previous attempt.
Essentially, I did not do much different from the OP. Starting with a clean system (I backup frequently with TWRP when I experiment with new things!) I flashed the zip file, rebooted, created the desktop icon for phone, froze the 2 LG modules with TiBu. I also copied the Google Dialer apk to the LGInCallUI folder in priv-app and renamed (but not deleted) the LG version which did not seem to make any difference to usage (I was hoping for a full screen caller Id).
As noted above, it seems to be working quite nicely with the 3 1 caveats I listed.
