Has anyone figured out how to get WiFi direct working?
I've used it in the Galaxy S III and you just choose a picture and share it via WiFi direct.
But I'm connected to my girlfriend's nexus with my nexus right now and I don't have the option to share anything...
Mine didnt work with 4.1.2 either.. Never figured out why..

Heya..
I used to own a Samsung Galaxy S II (my first android device) when it first came out but i returned it for xxx reasons.
I remember a program that you could use without connecting the phone to the pc via USB cable.. but over the internet.
Im wondering if there is any such program like that i can use with the Galaxy Nexus.. or if i can use that same program if it wasnt just for the SGSII
Thanks
Try AirDroid from the market.
thanks.. i will give it a try
There is also Wifi File transfer. Seams to work well for me.

Hey guys.
Just got my GNex last week, and remote desktop is a huge thing for me.
I came over from TMobile/Samung Vibrant. I never had an issues connecting to my PC via my phone over remote desktop on 3g. My program of choice was pocketcloud.
Since I got my GNex (Sprint), I have no longer been able to do this. At first I thought it may be the rom (AOKP M6), but then I discovered that I ws able to connec over WiFi, which unfortunately is no help to me. I've tried PocketCloud and Slashtop, two of the most popular clients, and neither will connect.
I'm from Boston, and I'm wondering if maybe the 3g service in my area just can't hack remote desktop.
Does anyone have any other thoughts as to why I may have this problem? I'm very experienced with Android's operating system and onboard issues/mods/hacks, but not so much when it comes to network/internet issues and how that stuff works.
thanks ahead!
Router setup. Maybe the port you are trying to connect to gets blocked in your router?
Check which port number you connected with on your other phone.

It could be possible that sprint would block certain ports to dial out on but I don't know for sure. It definitely sounds like a carrier issue and not a device problem. Call them up and see what they say.

would tweaking the DNS settings affect something like this? are there alternate DNS settings?
Did you ever find a solution? I'm having the same problem as you.
I have a GSM GNex from Google.
Does the Gnex support Miracast with the latest 4.2 update? Obviously the Nexus 4 does, but Google stated 4.2 supports Miracast. Just wondering if this applies to the Gnex.
Check under wifi direct.
The quick settings toggle doesn't show the wifi direct icon, nor can I find it in the Wifi direct options.
In the quick settings, it shows the alarm clock icon.
Or maybe I'm looking it incorrectly in the wifi direct menu? (although I don't think so that's the case).
It does not support it from what I can see on This site.
That beeing said, I couldnt find the certificate for the Nexus 4 either (I don't know the model number for that phone though).
I did some skirmishing and apparently, this page: http://support.google.com/nexus/bin...ings_wifi&answer=2864005&rd=1#/answer/2864005 says that you can connect to TVs via the Wi-Fi Direct option.
Now, I'm TOTALLY confused!

I have a Samsung TV and can connect to it via Wi-Fi direct but beyond that I have no idea what to do. I tried to send YouTube videos, pictures, etc but there is no option to share and nothing else I could see in the settings. If anyone wants me to test anything let me know.

same here... I've a Samsung es8000
Have 64E8000 PDP and i can connect via Wi-Fi-Direct but after a few seconds the connection is broken!
Think Wi-Fi-Direct has nothing to do with Wi-Di/Miracast...
The Galaxy Nexus supports WiFi Direct. It does not support Miracast.

I was testing WiFi Direct on my Android Devices. My devices are galaxy nexus. I do some tests by this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.budius.WiFiShoot.
My test is that:
Android 4.2.2 connect to Android 4.1.1
Android 4.1.1 connect to Android 4.1.1
Android 4.0.4 connect to Android 4.1.1
Android 4.1.1 connect to Android 4.0.4
None of above testing is successfully to connect each other.
If I try to make them "connect", I'll be able to see an invitation of WifiDirect connection, but after I "accept" this invitation, the status of this device changed to "invited", while on the other device (which sent the invitation initially) got no response. Thus a wifi-direct connection can never be made among the two device. No broadcast event will be callback.
Even i try to build the google sample WifiDirectDemo for testing, this app cannot work.
Anyone can help me?
Thanks a lot.
WiFi Direct is broken, i can't get it to work either.

You shall try using the Wi-Fi Shoot app.
For new it was the only chance to make it work flawlessly

I have the Galaxy S4 and the new Nexus 7,
I cant get WiFi direct to transfer a file between them, they do pair up and see each other.
I can how ever use WiFi direct to copy a file from my S4 to my Note 10.1 just fine. Any ideas?
Thanks-
Side note - NFC Beam works fine but the transfer rate is sooo slow....
I could not WiFi Direct to work either. I got Wifi File Transfer Pro from the play store and it works great.

Superbeam works great for me.
I have the same issue. I have ATT Note 2. I can transfer files via Bluetooth or WifeDirect to S4 or other phone but it doesn't work on my N7 2013 for unknown reason. They pair but just won't transfer the files. Very frustrating.
