Slow loading time (games, apps) - HTC One V

I am using a class 4 sd card currently.. Would changing to a class 10 sd card
rake in faster loading times in games and apps?

Only if they are located in the SD card not much though

Then i will just stick to my class 4 . haha thanks!

ill recommend class 6 though and sandisk in my experience the best

Using a better sd card isn't related ..... Because the apps are on the phone .....but for big games it may help a little

Most of my games are on sd card... Haha. Never mind I'll just be patient.

Biggest memory card size for a2sd to work?

I remember reading something about 8 gb being the biggest card to not cause problems with a2sd. So I'd like to know whether this is true and if anyone is using a 16 or potentially even 32 gig card just fine?
I'm using a class 4 8 gb card right now and it's too small for my needs. I also wonder how much difference a higher class card would make? I hear a class 6 card is the minimum, but so far my sandisk ultra class 4 was performing ok.

i use a 16 gb scandisk sd card with a 1gb apps2sd partiton, and my friend has a 32gb on with the same partiton with no problems
Tnx for the info. What class is your card though, people say class 2 is no good?

lol, yes it will be.
Just be careful to copy over the files. Especially if you have any apps on your sd card.
who makes a class 8 card?

Samsung, sandisk, pny, lexar and patriot all have class 8 and 10 floating around the interwebs but the evo doesnt need anything higher than a 6 unless u want to transfer alot of data between your phone and pc since the ohone wont read or right faster than class 6 speeds

Thanks, never knew that. I thought it went from class 6 to 10. Guess I wasted my money on a Samsung class 10 card then....

They make class 2-10 but the evo just doesnt have the hardware capability of going past true class 6 speeds however most of the new phones can handle class 10 so when u upgrade u wont need a new card if you want your class 10 to perform better in the evo u can force it software wise by using a 2mb /2048kb cache size on the sd card sd speed increase on the market by daniel meriman works good for this and can be set at boot there is a chance of damaging the card or slot by doing this but i havent had any issue yet and ive been tweaking my sd speed for a long time now

Its actually sd booster by daniel mehrmann had to double check that and for somereason i couldny edit my previous post

I've actually been using system tuner pro to boost the sd card at 2048Kb while running apps and cache on dta2sd, so far I'm impressed....

Is a class 4 sd card enough for the note 2?

Hello people I'v3 got a 32 go class 4 sd card and im wondering if it's good enough for my note 2 or should I get an sd card from the upper class 6 or 10 ?
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
am having a 32 gig class 4, works fine for me for playing videos / songs / pdf etc.
thats the most external cards can do in note 2 so it will be wise to save few bucks unless you are bothered by transfer speeds.
if you already have the class 4, just use it until you feel its not enough anymore. no need to buy class 6 or 10 until you have to (for example if you want to put big games into that sdcard using app2sd).
And what about the app 2 st card will it be enough with a class 4?

Best micro SD card for the note 2

What's the best 32gb SD card yo get for the note2? I'm thinking if buying a sandisk mobile ultra micro SD card, Its read speed is UHS speed class 1. Is it a great SD ?
Sent from my PC36100 using xda app-developers app
Edit: wake up long afternoon.
UHS 1 is a new standard that is basically the equivalent of Class 10. Will do ya fine.

My Note II is super happy with the Samsung Class 10 32GB I have in there.
Had the SDCard in my last phone, but it seems really "at home" in the Sammy
Is there a noticeable benefit of a class 10 card over a class 6 one on this phablet?

If your not switching your sdcard with your internal one then I doubt you will notice a difference between the 6 and 10 since all apps are stored on the phone.

There is an extremely noticeable difference if you are copying files from your computer. I am always copying a lot of video to and from my card and a 66% increase in write speed saves me a lot of time.

im using a sandisk ultra 64gb sdxc class 10($50) reformatted to fat 32(for TWRP) in 1 note2 and a sandisk 32gb class 2($20) in the other and the write speed when copying videos from my PC is virtually identical......(fast)...is this due to the reformatting?

Tell me your opinion about swap memory

I have a plan to buy a 16 GB class 10 sd card, and make a swap partition.
What do u think about that, because i have heard a few opinion about that. somebody said that swap is not good for our sd card, the other one said that class 10 sd card is good in writing speed but it doesn't good in random writing which it's mean class 4 is better, and many more
I just ask for your opinion, and probably u can give me an advice
Thx in advance

Some Swap scripts arent good because they decrease sdcard life but i have app named Ram Expander (Swap) which i bought from play store and its great! U can set swap file upto 2GB and increase ram! I have 602MB swap! And my memory total is 880MB

Go pull it off..
And then take a look at your sdcard, if there is a number inside a small circle, that's your sdcard class
Ussualy class 10 and 6 are written, but class 2 or 4 not
U could check it via sdtool too..
Class of sdcard means the minimum write speed of that card, if u found ur average writing speed 5 or 4, below 6 it must be class 4 sd card
That's what i know..
press thanks wont hurt ur finger

There is a huge thread somewhere here about SD cards and I got the idea that a classe 4/6 is better than a class 10 for this kind oh usage. I understood that a class 10 SD card is better for hd and recording videos but for random writing speed, lower classes are better.

Yeah, just like what i though..
And this is what i got from another thread :
" Class 2 and 4 cards have better random access speed and random read/write than class 6 or 10 cards in general. To get higher sequential write speeds, manufacturers sacrifice the random access speeds. That's just how it is.
The best all around card I've ever found is Sandisk class 4.
My 32gb Sandisk class 4 outperforms any other class 10 or 2 32gb card I've tested in the random access and random read/write speeds. That's what's most important when using with WP7 or Android when using it for apps or OS files that need to be accessed quickly. Class 6 and 10 cards are setup to initialize the area of the card that is about to be used to make the sequential write/read quicker, but it takes extra time in the beginning to do the initialization. If your using the card where you need to access small bits of info from various parts of card quickly, you will do best with class 2 or 4.
Most people seem to assume that the higher the class, the better the card is for everything, but that's not how it is. Different purposes need different kinds of speed... cards with higher sequential speeds have lower random speeds."
Now i understand why my camera using class 10 sdcard

just ordered a sandisk class 10 becaus I assumed that it would all be faster using FAT32, ext4 second partition and planning to add a third swap partition as well ... :crying:
well ... gives me a change to try and test both Samsung 4GB class 4 SDCARD vs SanDisk 8GB class 10 SDCARD
ty for informations guys
but what about im using it just for storage example: mp3
is there a differec for class 6 or 10 or 4 ?

Can anyone tell me how to get a good swap memory without memory expander?
Does marcins kernel support it?

Of course it's different each other..
As long as it doesn't need random access, i think class 10 is good, because it has hi-speed sequential writing speed

First, do u know why RAM called Random Access Memory ?
Because it access the memory randomly
In my opinion, An operating system need random access because the system files is located in different directory, and usually has a small size.
App need fast access to the needed file, and RAM do a random access to fulfil that purpose.
Get it ?
And sequential writing is something like you record a big size video, and it stored in the storage, i think that operation need fast writing speed only in one directory, so doesn't need a random access

SWAP partition is one of the best things introduced in Linux, and so on, on Android. It's so useful for our GIO, because of its low ram capacity.
I suggest to use it, but it will shorten sdcard life (in some cases). If you really need it, what are you waiting for?
Lucky me, received my new SD Sandisk 8GB class 10 and it's specific for mobile UHC-I so it has besides good sequential speed also good random access speed will replace old card later this week and give feedback on results.
