So, i know there are many threads about this, but many of them are old.
Any one found solution on STOCK rom (rooted) for wakeup lag..
I have tried turning off all those options recommended in other threads, but wakeup lag is still present sometimes..
Any one ?
I haven't really read up on wakeup lag, but what about having an app clear background apps regularly? (I use NQ Android Booster)

Turn off droplet animation in lockscreen.
Turn off s voice.
Uncheck popup note on lockscreen.
Reboot.
This won't get rid of it completely but it will help.
It's hardware related. You will find the reason if you Google hard enough. Just learn to live with it. After having 3 Samsung phones with wake up lag I have. If you want to escape wake up lag buy a HTC.

well, the fact about HTC not having Wakeup lag is not So true...
Thank you all for your help and comments, and if anyone finds out anything about fixing wakeup lag, write it in here

That's part of these devices and you should get used to it. It happens because the phone goes into deep sleep when you lock the screen to save battery life. My old galaxy s2 also had it. Get used to it or change phones.
Alternatively, you can use an app that runs in the background and disallows your phone to go into deep sleep. Though I predict that that will greatly affect your battery life.

Think about what you have said. Are you suggesting that HTC phones don't have wake up lag because they don't deep sleep? This is hardware related and has nothing to do with deep sleep. This is a Samsung issue that should have been addressed by them long ago.

Let's do a little experiment shall we? Let you music player run in the background and lock your phone. You'll see that it doesn't have the delay when you unlock it. I don't know how HTC phone do or don't, because I never owned one. All I know is that Samsung phones behave this way with deep sleep.
Yes...the more the cores...the more the lag...takes time for the quad cores to revv up from Deep sleep

I'm very aware that the phone doesn't deep sleep when the music player is being used.
What you seem to be incapable of understanding is that the wakeup lag on this phone is a Samsung issue not a deep sleep issue. Other phone brands like HTC don't have this issue.
Why is that difficult for you to grasp?
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
I didn't say it was an issue with all devices in the world. I said the same situation was present in my old galaxy s2, which is also a Samsung phone. And yes the delay happens when the phone is coming out from the state of deep sleep, whether you like it or not. When the phone is not in deep sleep, the delay is nonexistent. What makes Samsung phones behave this way? Maybe it's hardware issue like you said, I don't really know or care. If you've tried the experiment you would've clearly seen that it happens if then phone is in deep sleep. It doesn't have to be the music player. It can basically any app which prevents the phone from entering the deep sleep phase.

I realise that. I know it happens when the phone is coming out of deep sleep. What I'm trying to get across to you is that it is only Samsung phones that have the problem of wakeup lag when coming out of deep sleep.
Other brands like HTC don't have the problem. When they come out of deep sleep there is virtually no lag. I read somewhere that it is caused by the Exynos chipset that is used by Samsung.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
In my experience it is not true that only Samsung devices show this behavior. My HTC Desire and my SE Experia (great phones) did the same thing.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using XDA Premium HD app
I get it. I never claimed that all android phones have this wake up lag. I said that that my old gs2 had it as well, which is also a Samsung phone. For some reason Samsung phones behave differently when coming out from deep sleep than other android brands (it could be the Exynos chipset like you said. I really don't know I'm not an engineer.)

Anyone experiencing a delay when pushing the power to wake after a few min of being idle? It always runs perfectly when plugged in, but when not, there's always like a 2-3 second delay??? (running stock)
Yep, I've noticed this as well. The wakelag is extremely annoying.
I know man, this used to happen on my evo, needless to say I wasn't expecting this from the epic lol

I tested this, and it was just as lagged with or without a SD card. Maybe a tiny bit faster without. But still lagged.
I installed Tegrak Overclock and it seems to fixed this issue.
As bonus got 4600 on Quadrant with stock rooted kernel. I have a 32gb class 2 microsd card also
removed my sdcard and tried this huge increase in wake time. But even with the little lag with the sdcard in it's nothing that's going to turn me off of the phone.
It appears samsung is underclocking to conserve battery in sleep

which of course is a good thing...
Bump bump. Idk if anyone found this out or not, but spare parts will get rid of the delay on lockscreen. Set transitions and animations to fast and the delay disappears even with SD card in

Most android phones underclock when the phone is sleeping to conserve battery. I know for a fact the Evo 3D does it, and that phone had no lag on wake. I think it's annoying, but I wouldn't give up the phone because of it. I hope IF and when Samsung comes out with an update for all the bugs, they fix this bug too.
Hello guys,
Did any one of you experienced the same thing.
It happend to me for a second time,
While the phone is on charge to use it and this time i was using only the FB app to review some stories, when the phone became extremely hot from the back next to camera and also the display. And at the same time Led started blinking as crazy red&green.
Dont know which app u r using to measure this temperature but its definately not normal. Even when i play some HD games the phone did get so hot. Got worried.
Any experience or advice? Thanks

It can be rom or kernel related. Never had the blinking issue, but device also got hot. You can by try reflashing both, and systemtuner, free on playstore, is a good app.

LED blinking just simple humanity notifications that the phone is currently oveheats. All lithium variants battery wont charge under overheated condition as the itself is unstable..
For quick resolving, turn off wifi could be a quick solutions..
To dig into root-caused, you may wanna check any mis-behaving apps before suspecting kernel.
Well my phone is with the latest stock rom. Didnt flash any custom rom, even not rooted.
Also i was only on 3G internet, bt & wifi both off and also with sync off,
As i said at first post i was only checking through the FB app some stuff, and couldnt believe that FB app can overheat my phone such for less than 10 mins
You are right that the blinking is most probably notification for the overheating.
Did anyone know what is the maximum temp which the phone should not reach? On gaming for example when all the cores are using.

On gaming the phone goes to about 77 degrees, according to system tuner. It feels hottish, but not to bad. I once had it up to 88 degrees while playing with a weak signal. Have you looked at what is eating the power, yet?

FYI, My LED will blink while battery sensor catch up around 48C.
FB App is well known lousy and slow app but it probably not the cause, what we said was to check against faulty backgroud app for your problems and take a look on battery stat find out unusual battery drainage.

Don't worry, I've had the exact same thing happen to me before, but I think that was ROM related since the ROM was in very early stages of development. I do also remember waking up one day to HOX overheating (probs never got a chance to get into Deep Sleep). It was so hot, I thought the internal components had fried up. And yes, the Red and Green Notif Light blinking is definitely a sign for overheating. So I quickly changed the ROM and ever since that day, nothing's happened. But anyways, you did say it was the stock ROM so what I suggest you do is clear the processes and look carefully at when it specifically starts becoming warm. It could be an unstable app you might have installed. But then again, the kernel could be at fault. Probably setting the CPU at a clock speed it doesn't require.
Hope you get this sorted, good luck.
hi guys,
thanks for the replies ,
My HOX is 2 months old and I'm not feel ready yet for custom rom, in case something gets wrong.
I have better battery monitor installed, and so far the phone stays in ~90% deep sleep
no indicates for interrupting program while sleep.
so the problem I guess is really with the kernel , when the phone is awake and using some apps ..
but every time when i check the processes there is nothing "extra"
i didnt understand how you guys measure the phone temperatures.
Regards

And suddenly the phone started working normaly with no overheating till now.
Even if i left the phone all night with wifi on, sync on, after aroind 12h the batter was moved only 5%
The apps wich i removed were "bump" & the eufa "euro 2012" official app

My Nexus sleeps well and it has no wakeup lag. Same as HTC phones - no wakeup lag. I've been really considering a Note 2 but if it has wakeup lag like my SGS2 and Note 1 had (and it sounds like it does) I'm not touching one.
No lag at all.
Same lags here... And sometimes, when i press home button, phone doesn't wake up...
I removed shortcuts on lockscreen, (placebo effect), and it seems to wake up faster sometimes...
It's like all new Samsung phones... We need many updates to have something running great !
I think it is because of softkey lights. I have a Galaxy Ace with softkey backlights and a Galaxy Fit without backlights for softkeys and I notice that the Fit has very less wakeup lag(almost instant) when compared to my Ace which takes 2 sec to wake up. Both are almost the same specs and have the same type of firmware.
No lags, if your phone is in deep sleep, ofc it will take more time to wake up.....

As I said before, my Nexus deep sleeps fine and there's no wakeup lag. HTC phones don't have wakeup lag either. So the "deep sleep" argument is not correct.
You can watch youtube, there are few tutorial to "fix" that. all you have to do is to disable S Voice when pressing the home key.
Go to s voice's settings and disable 'open via the home key' and 'wake up command'

The wake up lag represents that the phone is in deep sleep. It is a feature of Samsung processors, the deep sleep state so it can last very long on standby.
Sounds like sloppy design to me, it should at least be an option you can disable. It would be good to read something technical on the subject if you have a source?

Kitkat update killed battery life and makes the tablet extremely hot near the camera on the back. What gives?
Sent from my SM-P600 using XDA Premium HD app
I don't have a solution but the same problem. I'm fine with it getting warm but it's getting really hot! It's great that we have kitkat but it's not all that stable yet.
Restarting seems to help temporarily. Feels like something gets stuck and then makes the CPU run extra stuff but I don't see anything with my wakelock analyzing apps...
When it is in "battery-eating-mode" even browsing or watching a video makes it run hot!
Generally it indicates that a file or service has become stuck, or hung. For me it's common for the Samsung.index.service to get stuck indexing a file and sometimes lasts 3 days before it's resolved.
You should use some kind of monitor to see whats causing it.
Gsam battery monitor does a good job of showing rogue apps, and battery and heat.
Also a CPU monitor is included in the debug/developer which can also show the culprit.
Sent from my P-600
I quite upset about this now. I reset my device and still have the same problem. My tablet used to be excellent and had great battery life. Now Kitkat Haase it basically useless because the battery drains so fast.
Sent from my SM-P600 using XDA Premium HD app
Indexservice uses 30 percent of my battery. I read that happens if you have lots of pdfs on an external SD card, but for me that is the whole point of this device. If I just wanted to play games, watch videos and surf the Web I would've gotten an ipad. Really dissapointed with Samsung here. Did they not test the device before they released the update? Or do they clock out of their jobs and go home and use ipads?
Sent from my SM-P600 using XDA Premium HD app
Yeah the indexservice did the exact same to mine, Samsung were no help. Happened even when I put PDF's on internal storage.
I had no other choice but to root it and freeze the service with titanium backup, I really didn't want to, but I was left with no other choice.
As I had gone that far I also froze a bunch of other Samsung apps/services - I am so glad I did, the tab absolutely flys along now - feels like a different machine.
Root it, you won't be disappointed
Sony released a statement suggesting disabling the Google backup functions to improve battery life with kitkat Roms. If you don't need those maybe you wanna try that as well.
Settings/general/accounts and save&backup
It will likely fix itself after a few days. It happens on mine every few months for a day or two. Then it settles down and works normally. Same on all Samsung devices.
Has nothing to do with KitKat.
Sent from my SM-P600
I did some testing with an app to check cpu frequency and here's what I found:
Sometimes the tablet goes into "fury mode". Which means that as soon as there is any task for the cpu however small it may be it drives all cores to max 1.9ghz and full speed. Which means even while I'm browsing or watching a video the tablet runs about as hot as when playing an intense 3D game. And with equally bad battery life.
Really bad performance/efficiency handling. Like now I've been browsing(chrome) for 30 min and it ate 15% battery life and it's extremely hot on the back where the cpu is. There aren't any special processes running I've checked with watchtower. Cpu load is not that high but frequency has been constant 1.9ghz max speed on all cores... need custom Kernel PLZ.
I have to say though this is not always the case. Sometimes after a restart or when it was laying around for a while this fury mode doesn't happen.
just rooted and froze indexiservice using titanium backup...hopefully this will help

Two things:
1. Make sure that the screen lock sound isn't enabled. On flashing a new rom, sometimes I'll forget to disable it and since I can't hear it or maybe it doesn't sound, especially when playing music, it'll almost definitely cause the stutter. Otherwise...
2. Like maschiosoosai said, turning up the clock speed will stop the problem altogether. If your kernel supports it, the "screen off max" frequency is the one you'd want to change first. I've found that around 700MHz (clock speeds vary by kernel) the problem goes from every time to about 50% of the time, and around 900MHz it's gone entirely. It's worth a shot, but you really have to be aware of processes keeping your phone awake and eating up your precious battery life if you choose this as a solution.
Honestly, I've found that my personal favorite solution is to not use my device when I'm listening to music. It keeps my battery going longer, and with my battery as used up as it is, it needs all the help it can get
Is this problem specific to 4.4 or just Galaxy Nexus?
Unluckily it also happens to me in all roms
It is a "click" and I'm used to deal with it...
Right now I m using slim 5.9 with fancy kernel .. What I observed was when I use poweramp the audio does not skip but with Apollo it skips
