Please read that before you continue here
Reason for this new thread is that I have taken over from Llor to maintain
those builds now.
CM10 Issues thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1821783
BOOT IMAGE IS IN THE ZIP
So extract boot.img from the zip BEFORE flashing the ROM and
flash it using fastboot or AIO
This is HELLBOY 201212011716
If there are any kernel updates needed "asynchron" to the ROM updates
I will write this here. So DONT use a different kernel by default
Download:
http://goo.im/devs/maxwen/CM10-primou
Or use GooManager app (you need to have 20121111 build installed)
gapps 20121011
http://www.mediafire.com/?k2cb1trw8s2oio2
Konwn issues - only what I can reproduce:
-panorama mode artifacts
-Continious-AF in video mode dont work very well
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ChangeLog 2012/12/08:
-removed camera animation - I am tiered of beeing asked about it
-added sys.keep_apps=com.android.mms,com.android.contacts by default
-fix for VOIP/SIP microphone mute
-updated to latest CM10 sources
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ChangeLog 2012/11/28:
-fixed graphical glitch that happens sometimes - e.g. after booting
-added sys.keep_apps property support to keep apps in memory
this should hopefully solve the dreaded "loosing" mms problem.
But I would keep SMS Ghost installed for now just to make sure
To use it add a line to you build.props e.g.
Code:
sys.keep_apps=com.android.mms,com.android.contacts
or for a single app only
Code:
sys.keep_apps=com.android.mms
Requires reboot!
Please keep in mind that flashing a new version will overwrite those changes
so you have to do it again afterwards
-added hwui blacklist support http://review.cyanogenmod.org/#/c/19249/
see also here for more details http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2014099
To enable add the following line to your build.props
Code:
hwui.use.blacklist=true
AND you must use kernel 201211242348
Requires reboot!
Please keep in mind that flashing a new version will overwrite those changes
so you have to do it again afterwards
There is a new app HwsSettings where you can easily specifiy for which
apps it should be done http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1766576
-decreased screen turn on time
-updated to latest CM10 sources
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ChangeLog 2012/11/22:
-swap script added by default - if you dont want it delete it
-fixed color effect for video recording
-fixed thumbnail creation for videos
-fixed custom button backlight handling - please keep in
mind that our HW is not really capable of doing button backlight
dimming levels so actually there is only off=0 and on!=0
-screen OFF CRT animation - dont ask for on animation
-updated to latest CM10 sources
EDIT: use HELLBOY 201211231230 if you experience screen flickering
during unlock
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ChangeLog 2012/11/15:
-working zram (you need BOTH latest kernel AND latest ROM)
-(more) camera fixes
-updated to latest CM10 sources

Nice and first! Thanks for your work!

nice one maxwen. you pushed those patches for camera in? i didn't had the chance to try them..

deleted

I didn't have a software installed much, so I always full wiped and fresh install. All seem fine for me.
Btw, any threads from dev is best from their dev man kind. I love all threads here.

great job~! thank maxwen~

Now I'm on Llior's 4/11. Do I need to wipe data & everything before update to this 12/11/15 version? Or just simple update from cwm?

Bambalazs said:
What is the update method? Full wipe and flashing rom and gapps, or just flashing rom without wipe? Kernel is the latest hellboy, so I don't need to flash it.
Thank you.
Anyway this thread is better than the other one. :good:

There is only ONE warning!!!
Those kind of posts belong NOT in this thread but in the corresponding
CM10 thread in the General section
I am a little bit nicer then Lloir in this case and will just ignore them
But - If you stay ignorant this thread will be closed for your posts too
So you can decide

It includes all "know" patches plus the 2 gerrit commits I have
already told you- Those have not been merged at the moment so
you need to cherry-pick them for now

Sorry. It won't happen again.

The ROM is amazing. Everything works well.
Just one problem. (In Auto Brightness mode) When I go to Display - Automatic Backlight - Use Custom & Edit other levels. And when I change the Buttons values. Either to 0 or any other value. I see no change in the capacitive buttons.

Is it safe to restore data of cm9 backup using twrp? will it be fine? i dont wanna set my phone again to the way i like

Well there is a bug
Its always using the screen brightness value instead of the
button brightness value. Need to check if I can fix this

No lock screen animation

[kernel] CM7 2.3.4 kernel(s) OCUV-SOUND-COLOR-ETC 12/05 [EOL]

UPDATE/IMPORTANT/README 1ST
I am giving away the SGS and got a new SGS2. This means I won't be able to test updates on this kernel, this I will DISCONTINUE it soon.
I might update this kernel til i'm unable to (in a week prolly) so i'd suggest to switch over to another kernel, choices are, to my knowledge:
- zach's kernel: lots of tweaks, but people seems to have good results. its based on my kernel
- glitch's kernel: less tweaks but close, higher oc. its also based on my kernel
- cm7's stock kernel: i'm based on them of course, its the same as my kernel minus oc/uv and voodoo, but if you want something simple and stable without caring for oc/uv or voodoo color it's pretty good because it's reliable. voodoo sound works via voodoo +
Note that I'm still hanging out on the CM7 sgs channels and will most likely contribute one way or another still

Disclaimer:
These kernels are provided as-is without any warranty. I'm not here to provide support etc although I might when I'm able, but don't count on it. If your phone explode, it's your problem. Updates are not guaranteed as well.
I made a thread only so that it doesn't get lost in spam and have pms asking where to find it
What's included
Sometimes: testing stuff from teamhacksung before it goes into their stable upstream
Various tweaks: such as JPX screen timings, Haptic feedback and general vibration intensity slightly reduced (integrated upstream)
Voodoo sound patch
Voodoo color patch
[*]Led notification: Now integrated upstream
[*]Extra governors: Smartass, Interactive They're not that good.
Overclock/Undervoltage: I use [email protected] and 1.2Ghz max and rest default, change voltage with "voltage control" (market). Default settings to 1Ghz.
Easy building system and clear commits: for other devs, and myself too lol

Support FAQ
Q: Do LED notification require an app, such as BLN, etc ?
A: No. It uses Android's and Cyanogen settings, other apps are not required, although some that are designed for regular LEDs may work.
Q: How to I turn off LED notifications, scheduled or/and complete turn off?
A: Use Cyanogen's Quiet Hours feature (settings>cyanogen>sound>quiet hours) and check "Dim the LEDs during quiet hours" (in reality it will turn them off on the SGS). If you schedule a complete day, then LED notifications will be off all the time.
Q: How do I setup per app, find other LED settings etc?
A: Settings>cyanogen>interface>LED notifications
Q: What to do with LED color settings?
A: We have only one color, so that doesn't work. Use Green as default setting. Some non-bright colors turn off notification, as it's the equivalent as diming LEDs (note that on real LEDs if you dim them too much they look like off too anyway, the difference is that it's gradual. On the SGS the LEDs can be only on or off, not gradual)
Q: How can I troubleshot my system, I can use ADB but...
A: adb logcat | grep lights (on linux) will show you Android requests to turn LED on or off. "status" tells you what we decide will be interpreted as "turn LED on" (1= on, 0 = off)
adb shell cat /proc/kmsg for live view (or adb shell dmesg if you're using adb after the issues occurs - careful the backlog is limited in size so don't be too slow)
notify_led_on and notify_led_off are requests to the kernel to turn LED on or off.
touch key write/read errors (cypress) are non-fatal failures to ask the touch key to do something (eg lit up the LED), when the hardware goes crazy or there's a logical error in the code (can be both)
touch key recovery routine or "stopped responding" are either hardware errors, either a logical error where the driver would try to write something the touchkey doesnt understand. in some occasion lock&unlock fix those as a work around, of course a permanent fix is required
Q: I used another kernel and some things don't work as expected / I'm the only one to have a problem / music skip with screen off / etc
A: Try this cleanup script: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13223426&postcount=1312
Features FAQ
Q: Why do you not implement jhash3?
A: This hash function is used in 3 places in the kernel, and mainly iptables. None of them are performance relevant unless you use your phone as router for a thousand of machines (and that is the *only* case). Yes, it is utterly useless.
Q: Why do you not implement XYZ?
A: Usually, same reason as jhash3. Feel free to suggest tho, some features are actually useful and I don't know everything.
It only work with CM7??? Or work in a Froyo or Gingerbread rom??
You just can't read?! CM7.
thx bilboa, it's really good

Its very stupid question, hence the a bit rude, yet truthful, answer. It says in the topic what this kernel is for.
I need to backup the WiFi modules before i get flash that?
Thanks a lot for posting this! Do you still have the "old" voodoo control app with you, that works with the headphone amplifier?
Thank you for providing the source code, that gives me an idea on what i have done wrong while implementing voodoo sound
btw have you guys experienced the volume bug mentioned here and here?
Anybody got a solution?
could not download
Sent from my Galaxy S using XDA App
Thanks heaps - installed it apparently ok - it runs the phone - the voodoo app can see the features and recognises that its a compatible kernal - but whenever trying to change the analogue volume - it force closes the app
is this relating to the broken git stuff for cyanogen - unrelated and just me doing something wrong - or its a bug and i can give you some logs or something to check whats happened?
I'll try doing a clean flash from an old firmware and come back again with the results in a few hours when i get home from work (err - probably shouldnt have tried experimenting with it at work - heh)
^^you need voodoo control app and voodoo app for it to get it to work.
@bilboa1
nice to see it's stand alone.
Edit : Crap, i can't get it to download, i've tried different browsers, using my phone. I even tried it from different computer with no luck
It seems github don't like my computer or my phone. Can anyone attach the .zip for i9000, PLEASE.
Hello, I'm from the Captivate forum, just seeing if any known bugs are found I heard Wi-Fi doesn't work.
Also had problems DL'ing. Attached the SGS i9000 file from the CM7_SGS_2011_03_04 folder. Thanks for the kernel!
sorry if this could be a dumb question, but I wanna be sure of what I'm doing:
If i use the CWM package, do I still need to flash te zImage and push the modules??
^^no need to, just flash it from recovery.
~drz
this is base on the latest kernel from the 02/03 update? it's will affect on the speed / smoothness (for bad)?
I think it was built from the latest commit.
just try it out man, if you don't like it, you can just flashed back to the "official" one.
The non-sgs kernel currently check for SGS model before flashing.. which of course won't work ;-) Ill change that when I get a little bit of spare time.

[ROM] Unofficial CM 7.2 (2012-05-04)

As in the old nightly 134 or the 7.2RC1? Either way, a wipe is probably needed but if you are still on 134 (which is fairly old at this point) I would definitely recommend a wipe

Amazing list of changes. I will definitely try this out when the semester is over and I don't have to worry about needing my phone all the time
Thanks aeroevan! Flashed this over 7.2RC1 and everything seems to be working great. Thanks again.

The soft key lights are a known issue, they do the same thing on cm9 and aokp changing the brightness turns them back on temporarily. Aero was kind enough to give us rotating soft keys for cm7 so I just work with it. Personally I just have the setting enabled to adjust brightness by sliding across the stays bar.

That depends on whether there's kernel supporting this feature. Do you know of one?
I don't think it's possible to change vibration intensity on the HOX

Don't think I do. I assumed it was a feature on all kernels but was not configurable because of lack of demand. I distinctly remember going from sense rom to cm10 and noticing a large increase in vibration intensity from the capacitive buttons. I figured that since it is not configurable within android then it must be a feature within the kernel.

Bug report: Does not save settings for reboot
I use cm10.1 b8 with xm kernel #167 and it does not restore any settings after reboot even if I choose it to do so. And yes...I donated.

Did you only apply the settings (top right corner) or did you also set on boot in menu? Applying the settings doesn't survive a reboot, only set on boot in menu does
It works perfectly for me on ViperX 3.3.7 with XM kernel #167.

Read the FAQ about set-on-boot.
https://trickstermod.uservoice.com/knowledgebase/articles/118579-faqs
If you still have problem, do a in-app bug report feature.
In your case, if you're still on Superuser then switch to SuperSU and try again, 95% set on boot problem can be fixed by doing this.

[ROM] [AOSP][4.9 toolchain, -O3] Sandy`s Ras_vanilla ( bionic/skia tweaks ) , July-14

History
Well I am a purist and seek for minimalism. I love stock android, but with certain modifications that i like for improvement in functionality. But the specific set of features i wanted in rom , i couldnt find it in a stock rom. So i decided to build one myself with everything i needed. I build for my nexus 4. I was building my rom for a friend of mine @pratheek1992 and thought could share my builds with you folks too.
Why ras_vanilla base ?
Simple, cause it has carlo's magic.
Features as of now
1. Volume rocker wake - always on without user configuration ( so that it looks stock ).
2. Built with 4.9 toolchain and -O3 Cant stress on how quick it is
3. Clear all button in the recents menu.
4. Advanced reboot menu and screenshot in power menu.
6. Rotation lock tile.
5. Lots of tweaks.
+ June 27 change log.
FLASH
latest TWRP is higly recomended
- full wipe if coming from a different rom, else skip this step
- wipe cache
- wipe dalvik cache
- flash zip
- flash gapps
- (opt.) flash kernel since it comes with stock
- reboot
- log into google and let it sync
- fix_permissions (in terminal if your kernel supports the script, else in recovery)
- (opt.) reboot

Kernels
Any kernel should work just fine. I usually use just the stock kernel. But franco and Trinity kernels performed very well for me imo.
Thanks

Nice!
It will make it even greater if you add transparency settings (status bar and navbar) for a longer display life (due to screen burnin in those areas) and navbar dpi.
THX. Will try it

Oh crap u were talking about the other rom ? I thought it was on this I was asking for it it was performing in this one. Derp
Thats why i asked u to try franco
Just flashed it. Seems pretty good. The stock colors are not for me, so I will flash Franco soon and change some settings. In terms of features it's fine, but personally I think that the customizable quick settings would be a huge + for the rom
Edit: if it stays this snappy I will gladly miss any feature
Edit2: I'm using the same minimal gapps package I always use but it seems like there is no gallery/cam in the ROM.

Thanks Pumbaster for your work!
My device doesn't seem to go to sleep...
WakeLockDetector shows Android System --> ConnectivityService as the main issue. BetterBatteryStats shows the same...
I tried turning location services off, froze Mobile Data and Mobile Network Configuration in Titanium Backup but that doesn't help. No checking if the same wakelock appears with wifi off...
Anyone with any clue? Or the same problem?
Will check the ROM and tell you dagrim.
But first thing first, I have to install it. And I have 2 questions, to avoid screwing things.
- Does it works with TWRP instead of CWM?
- Is there a reason to have a June version of minimal gapps where a version of December exist?
Thanks to everyone in the process (romers, informers, helpers)

I used pico gapps myself and the june version is way smaller then the december version, then again I actually did try the december version as well and it seemed to work fine. So not sure, apart from the size...
About TWRP vs CWM, not sure. Guess it also should work with TWRP but haven't tried... CWM is needed for True Dual Boot, but that seems bugged anyway.

Yeah, seems to be a common issue.
My device only goes to sleep when wifi is turned completely off. When I have it set to turn off when display is off I still get the wakelocks. I also have set the scanning for open wifi to off, location services turned off, etc.
For now I flashed back to the 0114 version as that one is working fine here...
If I can share some logs or anything, I'd be more then happy to!
@dagrim1: I hope, Pumbaster make new, fixed build
I Encounter Graphical Glitches with 3rd Party Browsers (Opera and UC Browser)
Chrome works fine so far. Also heavy Battery drain an 17/1
@faust93: what is with battery drain?
Did a very dirty try or replacing frameworks.jar but that didn't work...
Saw some wifiStateTracker errors and that and ConnectivityService seemed to be part of the framework, that's why I gave it a shot. 0118 still has the deespleep/wakelock issue btw...
I don't really care about dual boot. MIUI has so much limits. Once I go to CM, I don't think I'll be able to come back to MIUI...
But I'll stick to CWM, just in case...
I just tried the wpa_supplicant.bin file posted by pumbaster on 4pda and it seems to solve the deepsleep issues!
Post 351 of the custom mipad 4.4.4. rom thread there...

Also had some iussues with stuttering video playback, but setting 'disable hardware overlay' in developer settings fixed that for now...
Thanks for the awesome work!

I don't believe it's integrated in 0118, think that fixes some sd stuff...
I am currently running the 0118 build (with the wpa_supplicant.bin file replaced manually) and seems to be working pretty fine. Had some video issues with a certain app (video jumping a bit, stuttering) but think I fixed that with 'disable hardware overlay' in developer options.
Without the replaced .bin I also had a problem with turning off and on wifi. It would work when booting, but if I turned it off I couldn't turn it on again... The replaced .bin also fixes that. Now checking if antutu finishes it's run...
@dagrim1: hope, Pumbaster fix this problem!
Just another small question: full wipe will delete the /data partition too right ? So the ROM zip file will be deleted too ? Or am I missing something ?
Thanks.
I tried to install with TWRP and when I reboot, I get to MIUI v6 so I guess it rebooted in the wrong system.

I have seen a port of TWRP for MiPad. Have you tried this one, or the standard one?
