Hi guys...
i want to install the CM7 hboot on my desire, and i boot my desire in fastboot mode (voldown + power and select fastboot) and then i plug it in the computer
then i have tried to use both android flasher and fastboot commander but both of em can't contact my phone.... fastboot commander cant retrieve device info or anything...
what am i doing wrong?
i have used the alpharev method to S-off...
Root + S-OFF using Revolutionary. Then, boot into HBOOT (remove the battery, re-insert it, hold Volume Down + Power until you get a white screen). The volume rockers will probably do nothing now, as it has to check for a ZIP file first. After about 15 seconds, you should be able to browse in the menu. Select 'Fastboot' with the volume rockers, and press Power. Connect it to your PC, and use the tools you mentioned to flash a custom HBOOT.
After flashing a custom HBOOT, you'll also have to reinstall your ROM! Perhaps you also have to reinstall your recovery, but I'm not sure about that.

Before you start, boot recovery and backup your ROM!
Lets use cmd. You'll need fastboot.exe, for simplicity - put it in your c:\ (if you don't have it, download & unzip my attachment into c:\)
Download the cm7 hboot from alpharev (and check md5!!!!! - also attached md5 checker) and put it in c:\
open cmd (start menu, accessories) and type:
Code:
cd\
fastboot flash hboot bravo_alphaspl-cm7r2.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot oem gencheckpt [COLOR="Red"](optional: this just boots you into recovery)[/COLOR]
You're more than likely to get a bootloop from your current ROM if you don't re-flash it.

Yeah CMD is pretty easy, specially if you know the right commands etc. if you look at some guides you'll get the hang of it pretty fast (it's pretty simple really), there's also less to go wrong so it's safer (especially when flashing radio :O) since cmd is less prone to crashing than other programs (not that I've had a crash before.. just saying)
and I could've made it simpler.. you're just not a spanktard that doesn't get anything and you actually understand things lol so well done on that
cm7/r2
Hi, I would like to have in my desire cm7/r2 but I have a problem instal it.
Now I'm already S-OFF used Revolutionary, unrevoked, in this time NO ROOT, because I updated to offic. A2.3.3. I have: HBOOT-6.93.1002, RADIO-5.1105.27.
I would like to try install cm7/r2 hboot because I have a problem install Aurora ROM. I can't boot into the system after installation. Can anyone help me and write step by step guide? I tried cmd and fastboot but it's not working for me.
I have had installed few custom ROMs from XDA, but I'm still newbie so please be patient with me

EDIT: OK guys I did it in other way.
I have a Tmobile G2 rooted running Gingervillian (gingerbread 2.3.1) and I tried to install the Desire z hboot to get the Sense ui.
I followed the steps here, "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ogZfSWLlvPg"
HERES THE PROCEDURE OF WHAT I DID:
After updating the PC10IMG.zip (Desire Z hboot) folder to the root of my G2, I was stuck on the HTC logo screen after updating. So I followed what the guy said in the video, deleted the PC10IMG file in my SD card then rebooted my phone.
After rebooting my phone, I was booted back same rom. So I flash/recovery my phone through Rom Manager and tried rebooting my phone to clockwork mod recovery mode.
After rebooting, I didn't go to Clockwork Mod but to FASTBOOT screen? I select "bootloader" and it goes to a quick load that says something like "SD loading, no image or wrong image". I select "Recovery" then it goes to the HTC logo for a split second then I'm back to FASTBOOT screen again.
This is the info on the fasboot screen? don't know if that'll help:
Vision pvt eng S-off
Hboot-0.84.2000 (pc1010000)
Microp-0425
Radio-26.02.15_m2
eMMC-boot
Sep 8 2010, 15:65:38
So now, I don't know what to do and my questions are:
1.) Is there a way to go back to the G2 hboot?
2. Can I still fix this and procedure on and install new roms on recovery clockwork mode, using Desire Z hboot? (as the video did)
Please help a brother out I'm still a noob and still learning. If this is in the wrong place, please move it to the correct place.
Anyone? if it seems confusing, please ask questions or if I need to provide more information. I really need help with this. Any suggestions will help.

would any PP99IMG.zip file work? And do I basically put it in the SD's root and put it into the boot menu to update the file?
Thanks
by the way, is this compatible with G2s?
don´t put the pp99img.zip on your sd !
do something different:
download a recovery.img (3.0.2.4 for vision):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wik...sion#Rooting_the_Vision_.28G2.2FDZ.29_and_DHD
be sure to remove any pc10img.zip or so from your sdcard. then put your phone in fastboot mode (power & tp-wake) connect it to pc and flash the recovery through fastboot by typing: fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
after that you should be able to enter recovery. be sure to wipe before installing a new rom...

Yes, you can run adb on a Mac. See the link to my adb guide in my signature (assuming you're not viewing from the XDA app, which doesn't show the full sig).
Sent from my Desire Z running CM7.
Okay, just to make it clear (I am a "step by step" guy when it comes to technical computer/phone stuff.), from my understanding:
1. Download the recovery.img (3.0.2.4 for vision) and put it in the root of my SD card.
2. Delete any pc10img.zip files from SD card.
3. Turn phone off and then turn phone onto FASTBOOT mode by holding power/volume down/camera or power and tp-wake? (Btw what's tp-wake? and during this process, is the phone in fastboot screen mode while I'm about to type the "flashboot flash recovery recovery.img"?
4. Connect to computer, open up terminal (Mac) and do the ADB process and type in "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"
5. Wipe clean and install new rom in recovery mode? (Clockwork Mod recovery mode?)
PLEASE correct my steps or add in any steps that I'm missing. I bought my phone rooted so I never went through these steps before. Anyways please correct me, I don't want to ruin my phone anymore than it is already.
anyone can review my steps?
good morning
ad step 1: don´t put it onto your sd; put it into the adb tool folder on your pc !
ad step 3: tp-wake = the square button at the bottom of your phone (the one that acts like a mouse); to enter fastboot mode press power & tp-wake
...the phone should be in fastboot mode while typing the command.
before you type "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" type "fastboot devices" and look if your phone shows up... if so go ahead with flashig the recovery (by the way, you may have to rename the recovery file)
step 4 and 5 look fine...
good luck
okay, I will try it in a little bit here.
In FASTBOOT USB mode, it wont recognize my device but when my device is fully on, adb works.
I get when I type "flashboot devices" (while the phone is on FASTBOOT) in terminal and get:
"-bash: fastboot: command not found"
By the way, I renamed the downloaded flash to "recovery.img" and put that file in the "platform-tools". Don't know if that'll work.
The "fastboot" command should be on your PC in the same folder as the "adb" command. Where did you get adb from, did you install the SDK and platform tools, or something cut-down ?
Sent from my Desire Z running CM7.
hm... that means that you do not have fastboot installed. maybe google for fastboot on mac, because i have a linux system... so i can´t help you in that point.
other thing you could do is following this guide (it´s a pc10img.zip with dz hboot and clockwork recovery):
http://www.virtuousrom.com/2011/06/t-mobile-g2-users-migrating-to-desirez.html
but first i would try the fastboot method - it´s safer.
Okay, I got the fastboot devices to read my phone. But it cannot load my recovery.img?
This is what got when I typed in "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" :
error: cannot load 'recovery.img'
rename it to recovery and try again...
It's not loading the img file for some reason..

Why do you clean your sd card?
From fastboot you can flash custom recovery, and then you can enter your custom recovery to mount the sd card..
from there, copy a custom rom on your choice and flash it..remember to flash the kernel too..
Good luck bro! :good:
I tried too

you must re-unlock your bootloader first with fastboot flash Unlock_code.bin
full instructions here http://www.htcdev.com/bootloader/unlock-instructions/page-4
then flash recovery

Don't get panic!
It's really easy.....as you may check that i am also new to xda infect i registered on December last month, ever since then i get to know things which i didn't know before so don't worry it will take time but you will know step by step.
As you have mention about S-On and some other detail by pressing volume down and power button.,the same way do it.
first phone should be switched off,and press volume down and power button together, once you see white background with several information regarding your phone's current status.
HBOOT
FASTBOOT
RECOVERY
and some others but in that screen look for top on the list it should written locked or relocked,if not then you have to lock it back in order to run any stock RUU.
as you said that any sim card works which means that your phone is unlocked to network. but for now if there is no other issue in your phone than you have to relock the bootloader in order to run STOCK RUU.
without locked boot loader you won't be able to install RUU.
If it stats ***Locked*** than just flash any RUU by double clicking on it.,if not than just follow this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2133336
But its says nothing locked or unlocked at the top
and how to enable USB Debgging
I tried the link above
and EasyUnlockTool.cmd says the following
***ERROR***ERROR**ERROR
Phone not plugged in
or
Driver not Installed
or
USB debugging not enbaled
***ERROR***ERROR**ERROR

you can try flashing RUU with the latest or same version as you know that you already using it..but firstly you must find the correct RUU that are suitable with you CIDnum (country ID) of you phone...or else you might using a goldcard method
to check the CIDnum of your phone..your pc must have the latest HTC driver (you can find it here ), and your must already had ADB/ SDK to running android debugging bridge (you can download it minimal ADB from here or download full SDK from here )
after that get your phone to the bootloader n select FASTBOOT then connecting your phone with your pc..then open cmd and change source to your ADB / SDK folder..then typing "fastboot devices" (this is to see connected of your phone to pc)
if success connected..the output will prompt it of your phone serial number..after that you can continue to typing "fastboot getvar all"
then see your CIDnum in the line of output "INFOCID.....XXXX"
hope this help..

yap..just wanna correct misspelled..
because..you already suggest it to OP to relock his phone bootloader..that's mean you already assume that his bootloader is already unlocked just not show in the top of bootloader..
because of that...i just wanna correct that..because what i know until now is.. actually the bootloader of Ace..by default is indeed nothing showing state locked or unlocked on the top of bootloader.. that's why i suggest him to flashing RUU again..no needed to relock bootloader first..
i just wanna correct miss direction to the OP....nothing else..
anyway..i'm really glad and appreciated to see you wanna trying helping all people in this forum..mate

sorry..forgot..your phone still can't booting normal..
so i suggest you to unlock bootloader via HTCdev unlock first..then installing custom recovery like 4ext or TWRP..then installing custom rom..
after that..if you still wanna back to the stock again...then you can do it with relock bootloader first then continued to process making a gold card..then flashing the RUU that i give it to you above..
just go to https://www.htcdev.com/ ..don't forget to sign up first..then select unlock bootloader..after that..you must download the latest hboot from there..then extracted the rom.zip from exe..copied to your adb/fastboot.exe folder then update your hboot via fastboot.. with command "fastboot oem rebootRUU" then continued "fastboot flash zip rom.zip" wait until finish..if doesn't automatic reboot just type "fastboot reboot bootloader" then cek your hboot that's already change to hboot 2.00.0029..then you can continued to FASTBOOT mode again..then type "fastboot oem get_identifier_token" ..after you get token...then you can continued to process submit token to htcdev unlock for request unlock.bin from htc to unlock your bootloader..
hope this can help..

you don't need HTC sync to do that...just download SDK from here.. and placed in C:\ drive on your pc.
then you continued to step :
1. download your hboot update from here..
2. after you already download your hboot.. running that exe file until next to second step..now you must hold at this point..don't close this..let open
3. open explorer then search the rom.zip file under C:\Users\"your username"\AppData\Local\Temp\ "you will see a lot of folder like this {5917E83E-C23B-491F-9D62-6AB7E6E87DC6} and you must try looking one by one by open it and see there is a file dotnetinstaller.exe inside that folder and had a folder like before too {5917E83E-C23B-491F-9D62-6AB7E6E87DC6}..then open it again that folder..now you can find the rom.zip file in there"
4. copying that rom.zip file to your SDK under platform-tools folder..and turn on your phone again with pressing and hold volume down+power until get inside bootloader then select FASTBOOT mode
5. open cmd change source to your SDK / platform-tools folder then typing "fastboot devices" enter to checking first that your phone is already connected properly
5. typing "fastboot oem rebootRUU" enter
6. "fastboot flash zip rom.zip" enter and wait until finish..
7. now if succes you can continued to the step unlocking your bootloader just following instruction from www.htcdev.com
8. if already success unlock your bootloader..then you can continued installing custom recovery like 4ext recovery (just try searching it on google how to do that)
9. download custom rom..then installing
10. done..enjoy it
all command without quote
hope this can help..

rename it the rom.zip file that you are already tried to flashing it from fastboot command previously (rename it to PD98IMG.zip)..then copied the file to the root of your sd card..this mean copied just inside your sd card not inside any folder..just using card reader to copied that file..then put it in back again in your phone..then boot to bootloader again with pressing volume down+power then wait until bootloader check the zip file then ask you to update it..
then confirm it with volume UP..wait until finish and ask you to reboot the phone with pressing power button..

Hi there
I have an HTC inspire 4G and I'm trying to install a rom on it just to get to work :/
And I've already fixed hboot problem thanks to chrisb906 and I tried several RUUs and it doesn't seem to work even if they are successfully installed!
If I boot it normally I get : 1 vibration > htc green splach screen > 2~3 secs later > 7 vibrations > black screen > nothing!

Do you have a custom recovery?
If you dont, you can find one here 4ext recovery
Download it and extract the .img file to ur adb/fastboot directory.
Rename the .img file to recovery.img
Boot your device into bootloader.
Connect your device to your PC and enter...
Code:
fastboot devices
(just to be sure.
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Once its done flashing, reboot your device into recovery.
Transfer a rom to ur sd card.
Flash it and flash inpiremod if not added to rom already.

Wait i think i am beginning to get you. Pls answer these questions
1. When you boot into bootloader and then select recovery, does it vibrate and gives you a black screen?
2. When you turn it off and connect it to a computer via usb, does the charging light come on and shows up as QHSUSB_DLOAD on your computer?
3. When you try flashing ruu, via placing the ***IMG.zip on your sdcard and boot to bootloader, does it detect the ruu, asks you weather you want to flash. And after pressing volume up for yes, its looks as if its flashing but after rebooting stays the same?
4. Or when you try to flash the system.img via fastboot, does it gets stuck flashing?
1) yes, it vibrates and then 7 vibrations (after 2~3 secs) and then a black screen, and hitting the power button wont reboot the phone
2) yes, and even when it is on and on black screen it gives it to me
3) yes
3) no, never tried it

Lol..you are in serious trouble.
You might be wondering how i knew all that.
Cause it happened to my old Desire HD(Still didnt know weather it was a DHD or Inspire 4G.
It turned out it was emmc problem.
You should think of getting a new device or getting a new motherboard as that was what i did.
I followed an unbrick thread here.
It never worked for me. But you could try.
I remember i installed a wrong QHSUSB_DLOAD drivers which kind of corrupted the bootloader.
So watch out what drivers you use. There might be a possiblity, your might work.
