I like Kies Air, particularly the ability to read and respond to text messages from my desktop, as well as playing music from my phone, etc.
That said, it is a PITA to authenticate every time with my PC. Is there a way to set it to remember me??? I couldn't find a way to do that.
Lol an i the only one that uses this?

I like Kies Air too. I agree it would be better if it could remember the device and not have to re-authenticate.
For the text messaging, Desk SMS, $5 per year, don't need a web page constantly open. I like that...
I like it also...pretty convenient. It's seems to want to reset on every start though that's a nag

is it just me or does the push notifications really suck on Android? I play all those "with friends" games and I never get the notifications... i have to manually go inside the app itself for it to update...
sorry this is my first Android phone and I do love it but this is the only problem I have with it; iphone does a better job.
please also excuse my ignorance if there is a different or certain policy to android because like I said before, this is my first phone therefore I am obviously new.
lastly, if I get flamed for creating a similar post, I do apologize for that too. I'm on tapatalk and tried using the search feature but nothing came up when I put "push notifications" as keywords.
thanks. had to rant since it annoyed the hell out of me

As soon as I rooted my phone and flashed a different ROM I pretty much stopped getting notifications from any app

Like i said blame the developers all the google apps work fine and clients as well. Facebook push has hardly ever worked and the apps now is slow hangs and hardly ever works. Gmail push always comes through immediately. Have you check to make sure Gmail is synced in your google account. Try a different facebook client? Besides their own app which is horrible on ios and android btw.

until fb figures a way to monetize on mobile apps they will ALWAYS suck.
and it isn't just you. FB messenger will work sometimes when it wants to. FB itself is usually pretty accurate for me, same with Plume.
i just wished BLN pro would always work right :\

Bln pro works fine for me I use blinking. But plume will give give me notifications when it wants me to sometimes 10 minutes after.. The standard twitter app sends me mentions and everything immediately but it puts me off since its lack of features. Best twitter app is tweetbot for the iphone.
Oh I thought you guys had push notification ads

Words with Friends [and every "with friends"] game uses poll not push. You can have it poll more frequently under settings. Obviously it'll drain more battery though.
Email?
Strangely I didn't have any issues with push when I was using the CM7 alpha. I just recently move to Juggernaut 5.0 and while I love the ROM I don't get emails pushed to me immediately anymore. Anyone have a similar experience?
Anyone check this out yet? My wife pointed this out to me today, since she works at an IT firm that gets all the latest and greatest updates on new stuff on the verge of break through technology

Requires you to login using your Facebook account. Sounds like a great app, but the Facebook requirement is dumb. I'll wait until there are alternate methods to login.

likewise bc i dont use facebook..no account
Sounds cool.
Maybe I can get it set to text my wife every hour the way she likes, take a picture every 15 min (clip sits with camera facing out) and post every 5th one to facebook. Pickup audio and post it to twitter every so often and I'll never have to touch my phone again.
Calls from the boss go to straight to voicemail
Only login with FB account. That's fail.
You can only use it with a Facebook account, and even then you can only set events on a computer, not on the phone. Tasker and llama are much more functional versions of the same thing.

Yah, as others pointed out, a FB only login = FAIL.
At least IMO, as I dont even have a FB account, and I sure as heck dont plan on having one just to use this app..
Hey wait, I wasn't sure. Can you only log in with Facebook? No one has said anything about that.

So I was browsing extensions for Chrome, looking for a Speed Dial app (Speed Dial 2) and ran across an extension called DeskSMS so I checked it out. Turns out it lets you send and receive sms messages directly from your PC so long as you're running Chrome. It can be customized and is pretty damn cool. Check it out

+1 on Mighty Text.
Has nothing to do with chrome. You can use desk sms with Google talk. So any platform that runs Google talk will work

I agree. +1 for MightyText since it's free with a fairly nice interface
I used MightyText not long ago and found it slow. I would hear my phone go off in the other room and it would take at least two minutes to show up on MightyText. If I sent a text good luck on it being sent. I now just walk into the other room.

How long ago was that? I use it everyday at work and it works relatively fast.
I find the web interface pretty ugly though...maybe someone on dribbble will redesign out for fun lol.

Couple things I like about DeskSMS compared to Mighty Text
DeskSMS shows the names of your contacts right out the gate...MT makes you sync with google contacts to display the names
DeskSMS has a nifty "window" that you can open in the existing window you're already in to allow you to send texts...MT opens it's own window
I like the look of MT better, but DSMS is more convenient and gets the job done just the same so i'm sticking with it.
Thanks for the suggestion though, it was worth a shot.
Airdroid has a good feature that let's you send and receive sms messages on your computer as well as some many other things.

+1 for MightyText too. I love how it tells me when someone calls also, in case my phone is in the other room, etc.
Im looking for an app that I can use to take notes while i am in a call. I use my Voicmail a lot and need to write down a dozen or so calls throughout the day. Looking for something that can easily switch between the dialer and the note page as I need to write a note go back in to press delete then go to next message then write a note...on and on and on.Does anyone know of such an app?
Have you tried evernote? It's very handy and syncs with the cloud so the notes are accessible anywhere.

yeah those are good for notes and such but WAY more than need! Just want a simople little app that will switch easily between phone and note. Even a link in the dialer to notes. I think my old HTC Touch ?!? used to pop up a note app when i pulled out the stylus? Something similar to that?

Have a look at Quill on the market, it's a pen taking app, use a stylus or your finger, you can save as a pdf or pic, might be something you would like. If you don't want to type of course.

Hovernote might work for you. It's actually an overlay application that will just sit on top of the dialer, or anything else, and lets you type into it and save as a text file.
Personally I like Papyrus. Works great for taking notes. Not sure if that is what you are looking for though.

I use Papyrus Ex, it's sort of like Papyrus except it doesn't request permissions to take over your whole phone and sniff all your contacts, all it asks for is read and write to SD card. You can change where it stores too, good for when you flash roms or backup, that way you don't lose your notes.
Try Colornote
S note that comes with s3... you can use your finger or stylus to write on pages

I guess the ultimate solution would be to port your number to google voice. You would never have to worry about that again.
1. Get text messages and send text messages from your email, google voice on your tablet or computer in real time and all text messages are free.
2. In a couple of clicks reroute all your calls to whatever phone is nearby. Or do what I do and ring my desk phone and my cell phone at the same time. You can also use a OBI100 to have a home phone line with google voice if you want and no carrier minutes are used.
3. Your number is yours forever. Never have to port it again. Switching carriers is fast and easy.

This seems to be the only real ANDROID remote access app, allowing you to control your ANDROID phone from your computer, not the other way around. It can be a little finicky, but it is extremely full featured and well worth paying for. Now if I understand correctly you left your phone at home, theres not really a way to get into it without first installing and setting up this app. You could install it through the web play store, but you have to set it up for it to work.
Well, might as well set it up when you get back to your phone so you can have it next time!
