So I have to transfer my data from one Genx to another, and I do what most people would presumably do: Backup my stuff on phone #1 via TiBu, plug it into my PC and copy the entire TitaniumBackup folder to my PC. I then plug in phone #2 (which is running the same ROM and has TiBu installed), and the TitaniumBackup folder is nowhere to be found on phone #2
So I tried creating a backup of some random app on phone #2, in hopes of generating the folder that I need to drop everything in. Back up created, plugged in phone, no titaniumbackup folder! However, I can find the folder when I use some type of root explorer app.
I proceeded to drop apps+data from phone #1 into the downloads folder of phone #2, and then used the root explorer to cut and paste from the downloads folder into the titaniumbackup folder. Regardless, titanium backup does not recognize any of my backups that I dropped into the folder.
I also tried going into TiBu settings on phone #2 to set the destination folder of the backups to various folders, and to no avail. (It is currently set at /storage/sdcard0/titaniumbackup)
Am I missing something? I've done this a few times before and this is the first time I've had a hick up
I'm on Android 4.1.2 running ParanoidAndroid 2.53 if that makes a difference
Nobody knows a thing about this....?

Hi everyone, I'm having a real problem when connecting my LTE GNexus to the computer. I wanted to copy the TitaniumBackup folder to my desktop then replace it with the one I copied over from my old Droid Incredible, but when I look at the TitaniumBackup folder on the internal storage of my Nexus, it shows as empty, containing zero files. This is impossible, as I've done a backup already and even checked with ES File Explorer that all of the backup files ARE in fact present within the folder. However, the folder appears as empty on my PC and when I copy it, only copies an empty folder.
Furthermore, I then deleted the ENTIRE TitaniumBackup folder via ES, and the computer then showed the folder was gone (so it it's not like it's not reacting to changes made). I then redid the backup, which recreated and populated a new TitaniumBackup folder, but when I plugged it back in to my PC, the new folder didn't even SHOW UP. So now I have an entire folder that for some reason is completely invisible to the PC.
I don't know if this an issue caused by the Nexus or ICS specifically, the MTP protocol it uses to connect (instead of USB mass storage), or maybe even Titanium Backup. All other folders appear to be visible and the files inside are present (to my knowledge). What in the world is going on?!
PS: Please don't just give me a workaround for the current situation like "just upload it to Dropbox". I need to know how to fix this bigger issue for future use. Though if someone could recommend to me a way to upload whole folders to the cloud somewhere (Dropbox, Gmail, anything that allows me to pull it down via a PC) that would obviously be appreciated, as every app seems to only want to upload individual files, even the new DB. THANK YOU!
Hi,
I just had the same issue with the TitaniumBackup folder not showing up in windows explorer after the first backup.
Restart of the phone helped!
Cheers
Simon
its MTP, this has been bugging me too, but for now i got a workaround (i know...)
get SDrescan, its free. it will force your phones media storage to rescan your files. once you do, you'll see your files appear in the explorer. rebooting your phone also triggers this
Thanks everyone! Man, MTP sucks...

SDRescan did not work for me. Sits there forever saying "preparing" (I did let it sit for 30 min).
So, is there any solution for that?
Missing many files/folders on MTP.
This is really ****ting me up the [email protected] wall. I've trie everything, even sdrescan does **** all. Why does this issue exist and why the **** has't it been fixed
Using wifi, I've worked around it by using some of the features in AirDroid (sets up a web server on your GNex and you can login via a web interface on your PC). File Expert can also talk to windows shares on the same wifi network, I've used this to move around some large files as well.
I'm also having this issue, I've already tried fix permissions in recovery, did a symlink (not sure if I did it correct though) and now I'm trying sdrescan.
I'm thinking of going back to cyanogenmod backing up my entire sdcard to pc flash jelly bean and put back every file...
Cause pictures I've taken with Jelly bean are showing up in the gallery and via usb, so i'm guessing copying everything back to it will do the trick.
Most annoying thing is I can flash a new rom whenever and where ever I want and be able to fix my issues, but this sdcard thing is way out of my league...
I find a solution here :

Hope it fixed the problem, I had exactly the same one
Easy workaround : in the app X-plore file manager, long-press on your TitaniumBackup folder, choose "Create Zip", then Ok (doesnt matter where you put the zip, you will cancel/delete it soon)
VoilĂ ! My files appeared instantly in Windows as soon as X-Plore started creating the zip file. So, cancel that dialog, and enjoy your titanium backup files.

Restart phone as previously stated. Worked for me too. :good:
Reboot didn't worked for me.
I tried through ES File Explorer to copy the Titanium folder in my computer via LAN.When it started copying files, then the folder magically showed its content. Then transferred via MTP as it's a lot faster than 802.11g.
Hope someone finds it helpful.
I got a new Galaxy Nexus GSM.
Shortly after turning it on, it upgraded OTA to JellyBean.
Then, I rooted it.
Installed Titanium Backup.
I copied the TB backup made on my rooted Nexus One running CM7, I just want to restore some regular user apps.
But cannot no matter what I try.
If I copy the Nexus One backups via USB to the Galaxy, there is no restore option for the uninstalled apps in TB. And if I try to verify the backup, TB reports an error. (It doesn't say what the error is, just that there is one.) Of course, the backup and verify on the Nexus One for the same backup is just fine. The MD5 has on the file on the GN (as shown by Root Explorer) matches the MD5 on original backup file on the Nexus One.
If I copy via dropbox, the file shows up in root explorer but it doesn't show up in TB.
I'm getting super frustrated and feel like an idiot.
I can install apps from Google Play, but I paid for TB Pro, and it just doesn't seem to be able to do this.
Also, I hate MTP and lack of SD card in the GN. I might just return the phone it is driving me crazy.
I copied files to the GN yesterday from my computer. I DELETED THE FILES. The files do not show up in Root Explorer on the phone, or when doing ls with ADB, but when use Windows Explorer to look at the GN, the files appear to be there! They really aren't there, because any file operation on it fails (with no error), except for properties - it shows the properties of the non-existent file! What is up with this?
move like that: copy nexus one tb folder to your pc. open it and browse only for .apk files, don't take other file in the backup. put all .apk file in a separate folder. select all and extract all file in a folder (because titanium make compressed apk file, from my experience). put new folder with .apk extracted file into your pbone and with explorer app like ES file explorer install each one. i advise this way because if you restore a tbackup into a phone from another, or from another android os version, you have to restore only app without data. so this is the same way without auto restore for each app function of titanium backup.
i hope this help

I rooted my GN this morning, installed CM10.1, did a titanium backup, and then when I tried to copy the backup folder over to my computer, I couldn't find the titanium backup folder in windows explorer. I know that the folder should be in the root folder, but it is simply not showing up. I copied the titanium backup folder into the DCIM folder (on my device), and I was able to transfer that copy to my device, but I want to be able to see the original Titanium backup folder. Yes, hidden files/folders are enabled. Any advice?
Reboot device and try again. The device needs to do a media rescan to appear on your computer. It's happened to me lots of times before. Or use a media rescanning app. Look on Play Store.

try renaming the folder to something else like Titanium Backup instead of TitaniumBackup
Simple, You kill the batman.
on another note, you need to use adb to pull it, or use NexusToolkit to pull files from it, then TitaniumBackup, location would be /sdcard/ and it will pull the contents of the folder. this is much more reliable as copying and pasting corrupts data.
Are you on the latest recoveries like twrp? If you are on an older one, when you flashed the cm10.1 the files stay on "/data/media" while your new sd location is "/data/media/0" try check there with a root browser or such..

So I flashed a new rom with all the wipes and I ended up with a couple issues and the typical 4.2 file structure under the "0".
I tried another ROM again today (with the wipes) and now I have two "0" folders, one embedded under another and a lot of my backups are in different locations.
So it's SDCard/0/0.
Is there a good way to fix this?

I know the CAUSE is from using an out-of-date recovery. TWRP hasn't had that issue for a while, but i think CWM only fixed it just recently. It didn't start until i believe 4.2.1 ROMS were flashed. I'm still not sure if it's a good thing or not to delete those "0" folders or not. I'm sure someone will chime in on that.
the 0 folders have your sd card files in them (pictures, music, etc). if you move all your stuff back to the root of your internal sd card you can delete the 0 folders.

I tried moving the folders on my windows PC (old pos) and it didn't work. Android file transfer doesn't work with my GS3 and my Mac.
Frustrating.
Anyways to reflash something in CWM or is moving the files the only way?
Edit: Astro works alright...so where should Ibe putting most of these files? Under SDCard or under SDCard/0?
Now i moved some folders up, the gallery shows everything as a picture (icons) and titanium can't find any apps.
Nw sure what to do.
After I went back to stock, re-rooted, and reflashed 4.2, I tried moving everything from /sdcard/0 to /sdcard. It seemed to work, but then all of a sudden, on the next boot, it was all gone. My internal storage was wiped.
Luckily most of the important stuff is on my external SD card, but that was still really frustrating.
Just a word of warning if you try to move these files. Make a backup.

No file moving should be done, it will most likely cause data loss when the issue is finally gone... If CWM has fixed it switch to the newest one or use TWRP and Fully Wipe the phone including format /system...
Here is a link to a script you can flash to move files from 0 folders back to sdcard, you can thank the OP of the script there:

Manual solution via Windows
I had the same problem. Solved via the following steps: Using Windows, navigate to deepest level "0" folder. Select all, copy. Navigate to the next higher level "0" folder (or the root "Phone" folder if you're only one step down). Paste. Windows will perform a merge, versus replace.
Next, delete the "0" folder from the directory you're currently in, the one you just copied all the files from. I should note, I actually moved the folder to my desktop just in case I needed to bring it back later. So far I haven't, but better safe than sorry.
Once that's done, select all in the same folder, copy. Navigate to the next higher "0" level folder or the root (or the root "Phone" folder if you're only one step down). Paste. Repeat same process, move up a level, repeat, move up a level. You'll need to do this for every "0" folder you have (I had two, I've seen reports of more & less).
Eventually, you'll have all the same files and directory structure merged up to the root Phone folder. My device, a Samsung S3 running 4.3, recognized and responded to the changes with no problems.
I decided to wipe my device completely and restore from nandroid backup. All went fine, but after trying to use Titanium Backup I realized it could not access the folder. I checked with ES explorer, the folder was there, I tried within TB preferences to change the folder and realized I had Read only privileges, I can not create a folder or download to a folder (or move any folders).
I vaguely remember this happening when I originally flashed the ROM and found a Terminal Emulator script that fixed the problem.
Any ideas how to gain Read and Write privileges (not sure what to call it). I can not save to SD or External SD.
Can someone point me to the Terminal Emulator script or ADB?
SOLVED: Just installed skyhigh kernel and it fixed everything. I'd delete this thread, but don't know how to
