Not that I know of. You need to be on a stock kernel. You can use agats repack stock. Then change you splash screen. It will be set for good, so you can go back to whatever ROM you want.

use root explorer, place in system/media. Rename original one to old-bootanimation.zip, then paste new one in system/media and make sure its all lower case and looks just like this ---> bootanimation.zip and the permissions are the same as the old one. Then reebot.

You have to have a custom kernel installed that supports boot animations. The stock .qmg files are propriety. And you cant replace those ones. Believe me I've tried. Lol.

how do u flash a kernal without bricking? I have odin.... totally new to Samsung. used to moto and their locked bootloaders. and can u just get rid of the sprint 4g animation?

I am on a GB. I am running rogue kernel. Its safe in GB, hopefully ICS soon. And yes you can just get rid of them. But when your phone boots up it will be a blank screen. (while booting, you'll see Samsung screen, then nothing until lockscreen comes up.)

Also am I able to change boot animations etc with rom toolbox ?
Sent from my SGH-I927 using xda app-developers app
Unfortunately not because Samsung stock phones use a different boot animation format than other manufacturers.you will have to wait until someone takes the kernel apart and enables boot animation

Which means waiting for Samsung to release the source for the kernel, at some point around the official ICS update.
I was looking for a way to keep the ripple screen with another rom that it doesn't come with. Is there a way to keep it when flashing another rom? Maybe a cwm zip of it I can flash after I flash the new rom?

Well I want to install some form of JB.

If you are talking about an AOSP ROM then it's not going to happen because it needs TouchWiz framework to work.

You need to use Dark side Super wipe. It's in the development section.
Go into recovery flash the zip then flash your room again. Should solve your problem.

Yup even used the dark side wipe...or do you mean Jamison's super wipe?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using xda premium
You can try Jamisons. It may help

This is the first time I've seen something like this on the t989. No idea what to to tell you except that it must be touchwiz related, since PAC ROM didn't display the same issue.

This has been reported on quite a bit. Odin flashing back to ICS will fix the issue but any Jelly Bean flash thereafter with a rom based on stock 4.1.2 will bring back the black type. My work around was to flash back to stock ICS and then load CyanogenMod 10.0. What is odd is that some phones will take odin upgrade from ICS and even from GB to the new stock JB with no problem. Haven't figured out why though. I'm thinking there is something in the new kernal included in the UVMC6 rom.
I have the blue cyanogenmod guy mascot below the screen that says Samsung galaxy s iii when I reboot my phone. How did this get there and can that be customized?
