Saving internal Memory - Samsung Galaxy Gio GT-S5660

I Installed Cm7.2 Democracy on my Gio. I don't know what kernel It had but I installed S2E and it worked like a charm. I then installed Px latest kernel But S2E is not working on this kernel. So my internal memory is full. I have a ext4 partition on my sd card. Is there any other way I can transfer my dalvik cache or my apps to the partition??
Thanks In advance for those useful comments

There's several script there, so if you want to move dalvik, choose script that does.
I dont remember the difference between int2ext and int2ext+, but i believe there's should be a brief explanation on the thread
To check, go to init.d folder, is there a new script? Mine is 40int2ext+, other script may differ

There is also way to move system apps to SD with ROM Toolbox from JRummy:
- backup system apps (like Gmail, E-mail, Internet browser, Google Maps, YouTube, Google search, some stock widgets...)
- uninstall them
- restore them and they will become user apps (not system apps) - so you can uninstall or move to SD with Settings / Applications / Manage Applications
Please dont try this with Google Play (Market):
- I had problem after restoring it from backup - it came unstable (often crashes on connecting to network and loading Google Play mainscreen)
- I had to convert this app from user to system app (also with ROM Toolbox)

i was wondering, after i'm using link2sd, why my device sometimes rebooted automatically.
is my application is too much?
i'm using galaxy gio.

Hi, i'm trying to uninstall chainfire3d driver but i keep getting "error! Not enough space available! Need 622592 more bytes!" i've tried to format via recovery and cache partition but non of them helped please help me, i tried to clear space but it didn't help.

you need to clear at /system, not cache or data
try using titanium backup or root explorer and remove an unusedcsound or app
But i've got like 124 mb left on internal memory, and it is first time i get message like this from cf. Or do i really need to clear from /system a unused app ?

your phone has different partitons.
like on pc, younhave different disk drives.
well its a bit different..
but a disk is called system
another data, here are your apps
another cache, caches for apps
the 100mb is only for data, so data may be empty, system may be full...
you need to clean /system
I deleted dualclock with titan backup, and uninstalled cf3d driver thank you!!! I didn't know there are different partitions, only / and sdcard but thanks again!

Low system memory bug

Hi,
The problem is, that I cant install apps that are over 6mb. Sometimes updates just remove apps from my phone, just saying "not enough space". The best part is, that I have ~130MB on /system, and 1,5GB on /sdcard! It happens both on stock-based roms and FXP 133 (CM9). I just have no clue what to do.
Wiped dalvik cache, cache, formatted data and system, it just happens no matter what. After moving all apps to SD problem persists. What am I missing?
Xperia arc, FXP 133 anzu, with included kernel
Forgot to add: It's a fresh installation. Sometimes larger applications install properly. I had problems with Titanium Backup and Sygic.
Not sure but if you're moving apps etc. to your SD card you might need to clear up space or buy another SD card (i recommend 12 -16gb SD card)
If its stored in internal memory you might need to do the same and clear up space
Have you tried using another sd card just to make sure whether the problem is with your existing sd card or device?

It has nothing to do with sd-card, can u both read? Should I provide logcat?
EDIT: Sorry, I meant nothing offensive, I'm just too direct sometimes.
What else is there left to wipe, when /system, /data, /cache and dalvik cache has been purged? Apps simply download, install and then Google play gives notification about lack of disk space. It happens even, when I install apk's using ES File Explorer. Why can I install games larger than 15MB (no sd data, so it lands entirely in phone memory), and can't install 6MB Sygic? APK file is NOT corrupted, it works on my other phone. Market version is no good as well...
Same problem with me too, i tried to install Google Now (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1818189) and it refuses to copy the files in the /system with the error "Not enough memory".
It was fine till i used Pureness ROM, but now i am on Jelly Sandwich.
When you install an app, there is two files, the apk and the corresponding odex file (same name than the apk, suffix is '.odex'). Sometime, when you play with restore, moving apps in system, odex them or changing rom without cleanup, the ".odex" file remains. Search for corresponding odex file in /system/app or /data/app and delete it.
When you save apps to internal they go into data/app not system /apps
check what space you have if needed save some gspps from internal to system by using app called links2sd free from play store.
Try cleaning the dalvik cache this is not the same as deleting the mentioned app can do this.
titanium backup can help with moving to system and cleaning to dalvik.
Also look in vendor/app there may be some issues there.

vendor/app holds one small file, it has sth to do with ringtones, so it's not that.
Before switching roms I always make a proper cleanup.
There is sth interesting about system app manager though, it shows that "19..." of internal storage is used and "183 MB" is free. Why are there three dots instead of MB, and why is it just 19? It looks like the dots replaced sth that doesn't fit inside of the text field (190MB?).
Why does it happen after cleaning everything, on fresh, "Out-of-the-Box" rom? I could understand it on Ice Bean (it started on that rom), it was 200mb+ stock-based rom, but FXP is just ~130mb! There should be plenty of space for app data.
EDIT: Wow, thats even more odd, I've just managed to install all the apps I couldn't! Like the problem was never there. It's weird and I still want to know what the hell was that, and make sure it won't happen again, as I have no time for X Files kind of things.
Thanks for feedback, so far.

Official cyanmobile 2.3.8

Thanks for sharing this! I am using Light Orange v7, and I only flashed a rom once... but I really wanted to try a CM 7 - based rom and I have heard that cyanmobile is performing better than CM 7.2 for Gio. The thing is that I am a noob and there are no instructions on the offical cyanmobile thread, which scares me away a bit...
I already have and ext4 filesystem on my rom, an ext4 partition on my sdcard (i use link2sd) and a ext4-only cwm recovery, so how do I flash this (my rom came with a noob-proof aroma installer...)?
I just go to recovery mode, wipe data/factory reset, wipe dalvik cache and then install zip from sd? No need to mount anything? I probably need to wipe sd ext4, or I just uninstall linked apps?.
Then for gapps I just wipe dalvik cache and install zip from sd?
I just want to be sure before I do anything wrong...
I also wanted to give int2ext+ a try and leave link2sd, since I am told int2ext+ script it is much better!
Thanks for any help you can give.
I do a factory reset, wipe dalvik cache, wipe cache and wipe battery stats then I format system and format sd-ext.
Then instal rom after that mount system and mount data and flash gapps and mount system and data again and flash cronmod int2ext+ and reboot.

thanks

Thanks! It's so confusing to understand what to do before flashing, because I think everyone does it differently! Some say to mount system and data before flashing, others say just wipe cache... If this worked for you, then I guess it will work for me.
I also read an article from a developer at Google saying that battery stats get wiped automatically at every reboot, so there is no need to wipe them manually.
Success!
Just flashed the ROM and everything seems to be fine!
Formatted the sd card and made a larger ext4 partition (1GB) and flashed INT2EXT4+. Now I have a much bigger internal memory!
The settings are just overwhelming!! Everything can be changed! Love the bass boost and integrated equalizer that can be set differently for speaker and headphones (I paid for poweramp with my previous rom... ). And the automatic call when you put the phone to your ear. Now I have to play with it a bit to see what else it can offer, and the performance in games .
Thanks again for the help.
The camcorder is lousy, though... It's the only downside so far. It doesn't compensate for outside light. You start filming a dark area a switch to your window and the screen goes white. You do it the other way around and the screen goes black.
I have solved it by freezing the camera app and installing LgCamera
GPS worked
I can't write on the development thread (too noob, I guess... ), so I will keep posting here my experience with the official cyanmobile 2.3.8 for galaxy Gio.
My GPS had NEVER worked before. And I mean NEVER fixed a single satellite! Not with GPS fix, not with GPS status, not by manually editing the settings, NEVER. It didn't work fresh from the store, it didn't work after I flashed a highly tweaked rom based on 2.3.6, but I was hoping that maybe this time it could work... and it did! It comes with an integrated "GPS tracker" function but that doesn't work and just shows a black screen. Instead I installed GPS status and it fixed 6 satellites within less than 1 minute!! I just won a new GPS device. Probably other CM 7.2 rom would have done it (I don't know), but I wasn't expecting this type of efficiency.
Now I just installed Chainfire 3D and Adrenaline engine 4.4 and I'm loving it so far.
This is the second rom I tried for my Gio (first was JellyBread but it had some problems) and it looks very nice. Options are overwhelming but in a positive way: everything can be customized.
BUT,,, I thought I could use this rom, until I slipped in my sim and wrote my first sms (by the way: Happy Easter!): the sms interface is terrible! I cannot even see what I am writing, there is space for just a single text line and the buttons on the right become so small that they cannot be clicked.
Is there a way to change that? Making the keyboard smaller (I'm using swype, but the stantard keyboard is equally large)? Writing an email in the gmail app is perfect as always, so it should not be a problem of the keyboard.
Also, I installed a few apps (4 or 5) and the internal space already decreased (95MB free now), even if I set to install everything on sd-ext.
And finally, why do the 5 icons at the bottom rotate without a reason?
As cyanmobile is based on cyanogen, you can use a mms.apk from cm7.

Thanks, I might try that.
I found a bug that may explain my problem with internal storage usage.
In setting -> cyanmobile -> install location there is the option to force install to SD-Ext, which I chose. But when I change language to Italian, this option disappears and there remain only automatic, internal, external none of which is selected.
Is the option to install to sd-ext still active, although not shown? I found out that an app I installed was in internal storage, and I had to move it manually.
I can use english, but that would not be ideal.
I made a test installing a big game, Angry Birds Star Wars @49MB. With system language in english, in Applications -> Preferred install location I left Let the system decide; in Cyanmobile -> Install location I selected SD-Ext.
Nevertheless Angry Birds has been installed in the internal memory!
I add another possible bug: when I receive an email with gmail I'm notified as always, but if I click the notification and then close gmail, there is still the notification in the bar.
I also confirm the bug with the camera: when recording a movie, it does not compensate changes in luminosity.

cleaning rom

HI everybody...i have install this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1860291 and i want you to help me clea all the unnecessary apps and plugins.for example
certinstaller,csdffunctionG.defcontainer.ftphtcdialer.pack installer.providers applicationsproviders downloads ....because i need the internal memory
i ve tried int2ext+ but didnt work and i flash the rom two times because it was not open after the installation
If you downloaded the rom and open the
the zip file and remove the .apk's you don't want. After that flash the zip, before that wipe everthing, and then you have more internal space. But don't remove the system apps.

have you ever seen in the / data / app / in your partition? Have you seen any .odex files in that folder? if there try deleting all .odex files there, if still insufficient storage, you can your /system parition with root explorer, after that you see how much free space storage in that partition, if very low you can delete any app from /app folder or /priv-app folder, but never delete any app except google apps, you only can delete google app in cyanogenmod, if try to delete another file may be will bootloop? ok try it first if success great job:good:, if not tell me and i will search another solution pk
