when you double hit the home button, it will open the s-voice.
i don't know if you guys has the same thought. I just don't like the S-voice since it is extremely slow compared to the google voice search.
i have sesarched inside settings but with no luck to find any option to remap the "double home button". i wonder if there is any way to modify the link to open google voice search instead of s-voice.
thanks in advance
Download an app called home2shortcut in the playstore.

Hi, I've been looking for the TouchPal apk for a couple of weeks and finally found it - it's still on the developers website! Missing some functions from the WinMo version but very good.

Does not work on my desire, no keyboard pops up when activated

After you install any new keyboard you have to long press in a data entry field (I just press the search button and use its data entry field) and select which keyboard you wish to use.
Hope this helps

Thanks Iain. But I can confirm TouchPal beta do not work on my HTC Desire too.
good find this.
it DOES work.
you need to activate touch pal in the keyboard settings.
then do a long press on any data input, choose touchpal, it then crashes but the next time you come to use a data entry, the touchpal keyboard is there.
not sure what happens should you have to reboot.
Is there an NFC app that will make this possible? Currently the only thing an app can do is to open the Navigation app... But doesn't have an option to open the Maps function within that app.
Download NFC Task Launcher. You can open any app

Oh, so close. It opens the activity but closes immediately.

It's the first option, open application. Don't open it through the activity option.

You know when you open the Navigation app (the Blue arrow) and then hit the Maps icon within that app... It opens up Navigation without a destination? That's what I'm trying to accomplish.
I wrote the author and he said that it doesn't work yet. Do you by chance know how to use Tasker? The author said that if I can program Tasker to launch that activity, I can point the NFC Launcher program to it.

Why don't you just open the maps app? Instead of assigning navigation just assign the maps app.

Because if I use the maps app... The screen times out. Using the navigation function prevents this.
Add another task. Under display, add screen timeout to 10 minutes. And add the maps app. That way you won't need to worry about it timing out too fast.
You can add more tasks to one tag.

how to make the double press home button action activate the google voice search instead of the S Voice application?
You can't unless you use another launcher.

Instead of double-click, do a long click. Then you can use Google Now, voice search.
Long press menu button.

Don't know if this will do what you want, but it's worth a shot.
Bring up google now, hit menu and select Phone Search
Uncheck People
This -should- keep google now from bringing up your contacts, but I haven't tried it so I don't know for sure.
Good luck!

Yeah tried that it doesn't stop the voice dial when you push the Bluetooth button... all previous builds would let you choose a default action for that button but gnow just takes over no matter what.... i wish there was a way to choose the default...

Perhaps you could delete Google search from your current rom, then extract Google search from an ics rom and install it

Greetings! Quick question:
I have the rooted GB08 stock leak installed. Its fantastic, BUT I am wondering if there is a way to change what happens when I long-press the search button. Right now it brings up Voice Talk. I would love for it to bring up the Google Now voice search, just like my Nexus S 4G did.
Any hints?
