Is there an NFC app that will make this possible? Currently the only thing an app can do is to open the Navigation app... But doesn't have an option to open the Maps function within that app.
Download NFC Task Launcher. You can open any app

Oh, so close. It opens the activity but closes immediately.

It's the first option, open application. Don't open it through the activity option.

You know when you open the Navigation app (the Blue arrow) and then hit the Maps icon within that app... It opens up Navigation without a destination? That's what I'm trying to accomplish.
I wrote the author and he said that it doesn't work yet. Do you by chance know how to use Tasker? The author said that if I can program Tasker to launch that activity, I can point the NFC Launcher program to it.

Why don't you just open the maps app? Instead of assigning navigation just assign the maps app.

Because if I use the maps app... The screen times out. Using the navigation function prevents this.
Add another task. Under display, add screen timeout to 10 minutes. And add the maps app. That way you won't need to worry about it timing out too fast.
You can add more tasks to one tag.

Does anyone know how to delete music from the cloud player, or is it permanent???

Hover over a particular song and directly to the left of the song length you'll see a little triangle thingy. Click on it and it'll bring up a menu. One of the options is "delete song"

Would that be on the desktop or on the phone app? Because I'm not seeing that option.

You said you were using the cloud player, which I interpreted as music.google.com. So neither the phone nor the desktop app, the web app.

Thinks a lot. I finally see what you're talking about and it works.

I want to send a text with an nfc tag. The Samsung app filled out the the message and who it's going to, but doesn't send.
An app called NFC task launcher states that with their sms plugin, that it will send the text. I get it to open a text with the fields filled out like with the Samsung app, but still won't send. I'm using the uri task, but does same thing. I just can't figure it out, anyone else have any luck it?

Ha, just saw quotation in title instead of question.
You do have NFC checked off in settings right?
Yea, that's how it reads the tags and opens up the message. I just want it to auto-send. I can't figure it out.

What about the NFC call plugin did you down load it?
I did. I have all plugins.

Tried today, works fine. Open NFC task launcher, tap New task, + Add action, phone, Send a text message. Fill in the number, remove the "send a text" in the box and add your text, click OK then at the top right click next then tap the tag to the phone to write the tag. Make sure the tag doesnt have anything else on it. Tap tag, sends text
Got it working, thank you.
There was an update in the market today for the sms plugin. Mine must have been bad. The update also puts the message in your sent message, so you can make sure it went.

Is there any other faster/easier way to open the VPN list or a connection other than going into Menu, Settings, More Settings, VPN?

You could try something generic like the Bar Shortcut app which let's you put a shortcut to any app or setting in your notifications bar https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.coinsoft.android.barshortcuts.
Or something more specific to VPN like 5VPN https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.doenter.android.vpn.fivevpn
I don't know if either of these is compatible with your device but my point is there are apps like these out there. A quick search through the play store should reveal them.

Thanks... I was hoping to not have to use a 3rd party app. The second one you mentioned requires payment for a one-click solution. I'd rather do it the original way if I can't find a built-in solution.
so i've seem to be having trouble with the multiwindow. All the wrong apps are in the multiwindow tray and when i try to drag a certain app i want to use in multiwindow mode from the 'edit page with all the rest of the apps' the app is wrong.
for example 'whatsapp' the messenger app isn't in the tray on the left. So i press edit to find it along with all other apps in the page that shows up.
I drag 'whatsapp' over to the left multiwindow bar and it turns out to be another app like calculator and when i look at the edit page again whatsapp is there and changed position. and this is the same with most of my apps in that page. no app is their actual app.
anyone else having this problem?
I'm running SKynote 8
Does it use multiwindow control if so there is a delete services data and that is there to fix that

Hi all
I don't have Google Now installed.
But when I want to use Google regular search, either from the search bar on top of homescreen or from the app drawer, Google Now keeps trying to install itself. Can I permanently remove Now? And just have regular search?
It is almost like Google Search is advertising Now, but I don't want it ask me to install Now every time, I just want to go straight to search.
Even hitting the microphone opens the Google Now install window, then I must hit the back button to go back to regular search.
This is for CM10.1
Thanks
Heeter
Uh Google search is Google now, that's the evolution of search, the only way I know to not get Google now is to search from Google Web page if you install Google search it is all your going to get.

Interesting and I've never noticed that before but I've never not had a reason to.
Looking at the app, Google Now is what Google has built their app around. You can go to your browser and do a search without getting this issue correct?

Hey guys
Thank you for your responses
Will have to figure out something else then.
Thanks again

Perhaps try turning off the history?
It says it "may" disable functions such as Google Now, but I doubt it can be disabled. Search from webpage is my guess.
