Hey guys,
Was trying to root my Sprint Galaxy S3, and everything was going fine but after it rebooted from Odin, the screen stayed black, and only the blue LED was pulsing. I tried to flash the stock Rom to get it out of this, but now the same thing is still happening, but I know it is factory reset because the start up sound plays now when I turn it on. Also USB Debugging seems to have been turned off now with the reset. Is there any way of saving it?
Thanks

do you have a link to what you flashed? Try flashing one of the ones from here. If you dont have anything you wouldnt mind losing then I recommend flashing the one that says it wipes data

Usb debugging is completely unrelated to flashing in download mode. Not a part of the equation at all. Learn what you're talking about before telling people they bricked.

Pretty much the same issue I am dealing with except my SG3 is T-Mobile and debugging is still on for me. My problem is I reboot back into the splash screen/blue LED/black screen no matter what stock ROM I flash. I am getting really frustrated and worried. Can someone help me?
Can anyone help?
Same thing for me. I was flashing with this process:

And now I have a black screen with blue flashing LED. I am trying things but the CWM recovery seemed to load but cannot mount the SD card.
NM I think I got it. I see now that it was not supported with JB. One click flasher and download mode fixed it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2017470

So you use the JB one click? I can't find one for T-Mobile. The one in your link is for Sprint.

Listen to music - black screen and pulsing led???
Hey!
I have a SGS3 with the newest OS. Just this morning this weird thing happened to me. I was listening to music (not watching the screen) and the music started to gap a few times and went silent. I watched my phone and it was a black screen and a pulsing blue led. Phone was unresponsive before I pressed the power button for a while - blue led went out too. Then a while later I got it to turn on and it was laggy a bit for a while, probably normal. What was this and should I be concerned? Oh I just remembered, I had turned it to flight mode just before to listen to a meditation track and no-one bothering me. Nothing like this has ever happened to me with the phone it has worked perfectly. Do I have a problem now?

Hello this is my first post by the way and i really need help please i just rooted my lg nitro hd and was flashing the CWM on it and when i turned it off to check if it worked it will not turn back on at all not to cwm or regular boot please someone help me i just got this phone 2 days ago.
thanks in advance
What do you see when you turn the phone on?
does the charging screen come up when it is plugged in?
it doesnt power on at all and the charging screen doesnt come up either
mine too,it doesnt power on at all and the charging screen doesnt come up either,
anyone help!
I don't know a way to fix this problem but I have seen unbricking threads for this phone that may help. I'm not sure though because I haven't tried them. I did however also brick my nitro two days after I got and I brought it back to at&t and acted like I had no clue what was going on. Mine was stuck in a boot loop and possibly fixable but I needed it for work and didn't have time as I was on my way to work.

Hey try pulling the battery then reinserting it with USB plugged in to see if you can breathe any life into it if you can get anything to show on the screen that would be the first step then after that there may be a chance of rescue also try to let it charge for a while and come back to it, I brought a phone back because nothing would show up on the screen but when I brought it back to the store the Guy got it to bootloop if you can at least get it to do that you can work on unbricking it further

Something like this happened to me when I did a battery pull. My battery wasn't dead at the time either, it had 37%. I ended up sending mine to LG for repair or if you have AT&T, you can get it fixed through them.
I have the same problem, mine just stucks at LG logo and then loops, i don't know what to do, please somebody help us!

Hold down volume down plus power until it goes to the factory reset screen. Press power to "reset" which really takes you to CWM (if you're rooted and have CWM installed). Then from CWM, do a factory reset/wipe data, then flash the zip/gapps (for CM 9), or another ROM if you prefer.

Agree with kernelpanic. Sounds like a hardware failure. AT&T also has device support centers in certain locations that can swap out your phone in some cases.

Hi! thanks for answering!
Yes, I have CWM installed, when I try to enter with volume down and power, it ask me to click power twice to confirm (as usual), but then when CWM is going to boot, the phone resets, and loops again at the LG logo.
I already tried the unbrick method used here in the forum, but I have a problem with the R&D Test Tool, because when I try to click at "Upgrade Start" in CSE web upgrade test, the program opens LGMobile Support Tool, instead of the screen of "country and language", and finally, when I try to update via LGMobile Support Tool, it doesn't found my device (already put in Download Mode in USB), I don't know what to do, please, any information will be greatly apreciated.
Thanks in advance!
Anyone with a bricked phone from flashing the gsm boot image, flash this via Odin as a PDA.
It will flash a stock boot image back to your device.
1. Extract Odin files to a folder from the attachment.
How to get into Download Mode (For Odin)
1. Unplug the USB cable.
2. Shut down the phone.
3. Hold down the 'HOME' + 'VOLUME DOWN' buttons and press the 'POWER' button for about 2 seconds until a WARNING! Screen appears. Press the 'VOLUME UP' button to enter Download Mode.
2. Tick 'Auto Reboot' and 'F. Reset Time' in Odin and nothing else.
3. Download the boot image and load into Odin as a PDA.
4. Click on Start to flash the image.

DO NOT UNZIP THE BOOT TAR FILE, FLASH IT AS IT IS.

Ok...Looks like I'm having problems. I did the root process, seemed to work fine. Booted up fine. Installed Busybox, etc. After that, I rebooted and it won't go past the "Samsung Galaxy SIII" screen. Not responsive. I have to pull the battery. I wiped data and factor reset via CWM, but still won't boot. Installed this, nothing.
Any ideas?
What if your screen doesnt even turn on after istalling international rom?

Have you unplugged the usb cable, pulled the battery, replaced it then tried to boot into download mode?
If you have flashed a gsm rom then you are going to need to flash custom recovery with external sd support then copy a cwm rom across and restore it.

Wait, I just noticed the file is only 10MB.
So this is not the factory operating system image then.
Good thing I did a nandroid before wiping everything.
Anyone know if anyone is able to flash TMO ROM's?
My flash-finger is trembling.
I unplugged, removed battery, tried every combination.
I honestly dont have a clue how to do what you just said.. copy it only an external sd card but how would i carry it over and restore from it if it wont boot up?

Your other option is to take it back to the store and tell them it wouldnt boot up after you charged it. Play dumb and they should exchange it at the shop.

Is that XDA's stance on the risks of flashing/modding phone? Play dumb? Isn't that how this thread got started?
Surprised a senior moderator would suggest that.
I think we all know the risks...and when mistakes are made...the person making the mistake should pay. Not the company who plays no fault or the customers who's rates are hiked because of fraudulent claims.

Hello there,
I just rooted and flashed a custom recovery to my S3 today. Afterwards, I installed CyanogenMod through the CWM recovery and rebooted, however, after the reboot the device powered off completely. Now when I try to turn on the device I get a grey battery icon with a static circle on it, and it does not proceed any further. I cannot access recovery mode or even get to the Samsung loading screen. Plugging the device into the wall charger doesn't seem to be doing anything as it has been 'charging' for over 30 minutes and still does not power on. I've been scouring the net for hours looking for answers, but the few people who seem to have the same problem have not found any sort of resolution. There are all sorts of tricks people are suggesting such as putting your battery in and plugging the cable in, vice versa..etc but nothing seems to work. The phone was working just fine and the battery still had a good 30-40% charge when this happened. Does anyone know what the issue could be? I cannot even get it serviced because I had JUST rooted/custom recovery'd it when this happened, so just my luck with that. If anyone could help me it would mean a lot. Thank you for reading.

Mike

Hello there,
Thanks for the reply. I followed the instructions as per this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2179330
The CWM mod version I got from following Step 2 of that guide, which led me to this: http://www.epiccm.org/2012/06/cwm-recovery-on-all-sgs3-lte-variants.html
Afterwards, everything seemed to be working fine, so I grabbed a copy of the official CM latest nightly for my device, wiped/factory reset, and installed the ROM + gapps. After I reboot, the phone shut off, and this has been going on since. I am able to get into download mode, as I have just discovered, but I cannot get into recovery mode or turn the phone on past this mysterious grey battery icon.
Thanks for your time,

Thanks very much! I was able to use the stock firmware in conjunction with Odin to get myself back up and running!
Now the issue remains, is there any way to install CM 10~ on this device? I cannot find a proper version of CWM aside from the 'universal' one which I mentioned above, however, if I try and flash any version of CM using that recovery, it gives me a Status 7 error, which people say is due to an old recovery version. Any idea as to where I can find a working (new) version of CWM for this device?

Mike

I've solved the issue. Thanks for all the help.
The problem was that apparently I had an outdated bootloader which wasn't compatible with newer versions of CM and CWM. I installed the new bootloader from a thread here in the S3 forums and then flashed a new version of CWM and managed to get CM running.
I'm having new, unrelated issues now, but I'm sure I will be able to solve those.
Thanks again
I got stuck at the boot screen with no OS installed.
Google is finding me ways to reboot but can't find anything on how to do a hard shutdown from here.
EDIT:
Okay one suggestion was to plug the phone into charge, then force a reboot (power + both volume buttons held down 10+ seconds).
Then when it shuts off, you disconnect the power cable after seeing a "battery" on the screen and the tab will remain turned off.
That did not work for me with computer data charging cable.
But it did work with the stock charger. :good:
This helped me get into download using the download mode button shortcuts. But I can't figure out how to get into recovery mode from here? The recovery mode buttons don't work (volume up + power + home).
It looks like this thread has the answer on how to get into recovery mode again.
Too bad I didn't find it before I did an ODIN back to stock.

Actually its even easier than that and have done it countless times.
Next time just hold POWER +VOL DOWN + HOME. As soon as the screen goes blank change to VOL UP whilst still holding POWER +HOME.
Works every time to get into recovery.

I'm in the same situation where all of a sudden my tablet went into reboot and got stuck on the logo screen. I tried the combinations suggested such as : Power butto +Volume down then Volume up when screen is black to get to reboot mode but it just brings me back to the logo screen. Is there some other way I can access the safe mode or recovery mode to try and get this thing working again? I wasn't running any apps for it to cause this either, just checking email. Any help would be much appreciated

Well, downloading is not the recovery.
In download mode you would use ODIN to re-flash the firmware from a computer.
In recovery, you would do a factory reset to reset back to defaults to see if that helps boot back into the existing firmware. You'll probably lose everything.

Yeah I just figured out I was in the wrong mode. I couldn't get it to the recovery mode for some reason but eventually it worked. So I have to go into wipe data/factory reset option? There's nothing else I can do on that screen to fix this without losing everything? I see other opions to Wipe Cache, reboot to bootloader, reboot system now etc..

Well, you're not really giving enough info for us to properly help you.
If you have stock recovery then you can try clearing cache but it probably won't fix a no-boot situation.
If you have TWRP recovery then you can try clearing cache and dalvik and fix permissions which probably won't help but gives you a better chance.
Also, if you had TWRP then you could simply re-flash your ROM zip and not lose a whole lot.

Sorry about that. It's like I said, I'm not too inclined on this type of stuff. Here's what I got and hopefully it helps you more. The tab is completely stocked, never rooted because I wouldn't even know how to do that really. I was on it fine last night and all I did was put it down for literally 30 sec to get something to drink and when I came back it was stuck on the Samsung logo screen. Only apps I had open was gmail, chrome and a word document. There was nothing dowloading, system wise or apps. It's already had Lollipop on it for a week or two and I didn't get any update notices or anything. So I'm guessing the problem is it's somehow stuck in a "boot loop" from what I found searching on google and I don't understand why or what could be causing it so that's the issue I'm trying to fix. I can't get past that screen no matter how many times I restart it. Does that help some?

Yeah, so unfortunately your options are very limited and you're kinda stuck with losing everything.
Try clearing cache first but I doubt it will help.
Then reset to factory defaults. That should work and you probably lose everything.
If not, then search this forum for "ODIN" and "firmware" or let me know and I'll guide you when I get back to my computer in a couple hours.

Unfortunately I'm at work though so I can't connect to a wifi to complete the set up process so I'll have to wait until tonight when I get home but thanks again for your help. If you could still help me later though with the Odin and firmware stuff I would appreciate it.

The factory reset should not touch the external SD card at all. So no worries about leaving it in during that process.
Yeah, starting over.
As long as you're doing that, this is a great time to flash a rooted ROM so you can install Titanium Backup and do regular backups of your apps in case you ever need to reset to factory again.
What model tab do you have? Like, mine is a T705.
If it's an LTE tab, who is your carrier?
The ODIN process depends on this info.

So I left for lunch and tablet was functional and in the set up process and when I came back, it's back at that damn Samsung logo screen and haven't been able to get back to the recover page. Any idea or suggestions on what to do now? How could that same problem still be here if I did the factory reset?

Who knows, something is not happy though.
You could try another reset.
Is your battery greater than 50%?
Under a certain percentage, the battery savings feature could possible do weird things.

Lol yea no kidding. The battery has been plugged in the whole time. I'm actually at 100% now. I was really trying to avoid having to bring it to Geek squad. If I do the reset and it does it again, will going to the download mode and doing the custom OS help at all?

Unless it's a hardware issue, then re-flashing the firmware via ODIN could definitely help!
You can ODIN the stock, unrooted firmware or you can ODIN a TWRP recovery and flash any ROM you want for your phone.
Would still need to know the model # I asked for a couple times above.

Okay great, so you can ODIN a TWRP recovery and then flash a nice ROM. Same ROM I use on my phone. It's stock Touch Wiz that has been rooted and some small things have been improved. Very stable. IronROM.
Or you can download the stock firmware from sammobile.com and ODIN back to stock.
OK I've had my share of problems and fixes but this is by far the toughest ever. My Galaxy Tab S, out of no where is blinking. Not flickering, Blinking. When I load up, the Samsung Screen lights up as if it's going to load, then fades and begins strobing off and on. Once it did this for hours. However, while it's strobing, you know that the screen is running in the background. You can hear apps going and everything.
I had stock firmware and no root when this began happening.
Furthermore, when charging, the battery displays just fine for about 6 seconds, then fades and begins strobing. I thought it might be an issue with the screen until I successfully placed it into download mode. In download mode, there is no strobing. The device stays on, accurate, and beautiful. When I go into recovery mode, I can see all the options, but it's still strobing off and on. I am in the process of getting ready to flash stock firmware via odin, but I've wiped the cache, factory reset, rooted and everything else.
The tablet is working but I'm stuck with it strobing in the foreground and no option to see what's really happening. I tried countless searches online and have found nothing that corrects my problem. XDA Gurus, you're my only hope. What should I do now? :crying:
Send it back to samsung for repair under warranty it may be a prossor thing.....
The kernel is responsible for off mode charging, so that's why it happens there as well.
Your first port if call is to flash stock firmware and see if it persists.
You may also need to wipe DATA. Back it up with twrp first.
Also does this happen with brightness set to max?

Unfortunately I don't believe I'm covered under warranty. I've had for over 2 years and my knox security shows 1 time that I rooted it in the past. But since then I had unrooted and run stock from samsung.

OK, I'll let you know what happens once firmware is flashed. I did wipe Data with TWRP and factory reset already. And Yes, as the screen starts to flash, it is VERY VERY Bright. It's the black background and the all-white Samsung Logo that is strobing.
Thanks so much for working with me!
If your still having problems after stock reflash open the tablet up via tutorials on YouTube unplug the battery for 5 mi s then plug it back in. Could be as simple as the battery isn't connected right my gf done this and her tablet is better now

Thanks my friend. Unfortunately, I think we're way past that. Have gone back and forth with charging. Right now having trouble getting the stock rom to download without it taking 19 hours any ideas where I can get the stock lollipop 5.02 rom? I tried to go to Samsung and Sammobile and no real luck.
Google stock android tab s Korean mega download. It'll be KitKat then just update ota
