Maybe Hard Brick ? ... Try Old Methods like While turning on holf on in home volume bottom . maybe works
what?

Reflash the ROM, without wipe. Or just restore your NAND backup.

I able go to the download mode, but only for about 5seconds, then the phone boot automatically..
how can I reflash the Rom if it's like that.
joehanh88 themed GT-I9070
Even I have the exact same problem. Happened randomly 3 days back.
Not able to get into Download/Recovery Mode. And battery also doesn't charge
Not in warranty, so can't go to Samsung.
I was running CM 10.1 when it happened
I just running stock ROM..
I can go to the download mode, but only last for 5 second, then the phone boot automatically again.
joehanh88 themed GT-I9070
Same here. I went to a repair shop - he says it is a Software issue and was charging a high amount for reflashing on his own, and says no guarantees it will work.
So I got it back and am trying on my own
so there is no other way except bring to the repair shop?

I dunno, because if I put the battery, it will directly show the booting even I'm not push the power button.then it keep repeating until the gt-i8150 logo..
is it hard brick? But what cause the brick?
this phone is running all stock..it's weird..

No clue what caused it. It was running smoothly for months before that.
My battery died after bootlooping for a while. Now charging it in another phone and trying
Okay, I got into download mode for enough time to reflash CWM Recovery - No use. After rebooting, bootloop still there.
I got into Recovery mode too - flashed cm 10.1, still after rebooting, bootloop.
The time before loop is random - sometimes can go into recovery/download mode, sometime, just restarts on starts.

I dont want to take it to Samsung, its out of Warranty, rooted and has a non-Samsung battery too
are your battery is good. i also have those problem while my battery is dying.
or maybe your power chip is broken. but you should get to service center to make sure.

I just bought a new battery, and u don't think the new battery is the problem..but it might, because I'm using power bank to recharge the battery since I can't charge the phone with the provided charger because of I'm in the bus..
plus, my phone warranty already used once..I don't think I can use it for the second time.
joehanh88 themed GT-I9070
I got it to boot, but only once.
I did the following steps :
1) Connected it by USB to PC
2) Started Odin, Flashed latest recovery
3) Went into recovery at the next boot, Installed CM 10.1
4) Phone booted
No battery detected, it says running on USB :S
Next time I rebooted it, again same bootloop.
I feel its a power chip problem. Like some loose connection between charger -> battery and phone.
Anyone else who can help out ?

Will take it to Samsung Service Center though doubt they'll repair it.
Not sure if its because I'm stupid or faulty hardware or both.
So, HOX is unrooted, s-off with super cid (from e-bay). Got it for my dad.
A few days ago it froze, and when rebooting it just threw endless FCs and would not let the system finish loading up properly.
I did a factory reset from the fastboot, afterwards it worked ok.
But, the day after, it froze again. This time, when rebooting, it just showed a blank black screen after the HTC splash screen and did not go anywhere.
I went again to the fastboot screen, and then for some reason I went on to the stock recovery (I'm stupid). This time I did the "wipe user data/factory reset" from there, after also wiping chache and stuff (I'm used to do this in my rooted HOX with custom recovery).
After that, I did a reboot from the stock reovery. It went to the HTC splash screen, and here I was stupid again. I'm not sure how long he was like that, if for a minute or 5 or 10 (I did some other stuff in between). I thought it was stuck, and instinctively shut it down and the tried to turn it on again. I forgot I did the factory reset and that it might have been in the middle of the installation.
After that, the phone did not respond to anything. It won't charge, won't turn on, won't show any led indication, and in windows it is noted as the infamous APX. I have spent the entire day reading about it and I'm afraid the phone is lost.
I think I got the proper APX driver (it is seen as NVidia USB Bootrecovery driver for mobile devices). I tried some versions of nvflash. One shows "unknown device", other shows some info on the device when trying "nvflash --creat" but gets stuck at "starting nvflash" when trying "nvflash --sync".
So, my first question is, are the stock recovery "factory reset" and the fastboot reset the same?
When I do a factory reset in fastboot it resets and makes a "fresh install", while in the stock recovery it does some stuff but does not reboot automatically. I am afraid that I "wiped" the entire system partition when I did the reset after the stock recovery factory reset.
Have there been any advances in the APX field in the last year? Is there any hope?
If not, will anyone be willing to buy an APX S-OFF HOX in mid 2014? Or should I just throw it into the blender?
Thanks in advance,
Gabriel

This is a very simple fix, takes some time and a bit of common sense and patience, but if you follow the links i posted you should be fine. I have done almost everything possible to my HOX including what you did and they helped
Watch out....APX is in most cases a very dead hox. A new mainboard is the solution to a 100% fix !
The rest of the fixes that are available are mainly temp fixes.

I had the same issue and I think this is what i did to get it to come on. try it, not like you have anything to lose.
your gonna need masking tap, your phone, the charger and a wall outlet
Now what your gonna do is tightly and i do mean as tight as possible tape the phone power button down
Cut a length of tape a little longer then the length of the phone
Line up the middle of the tape with the power button
Pressing down the power button, stretch out the tape over it and secure the rest of the tape to the back and front of the phone in such a way as to ensure that the power button stays down
Do the same for the volume up and down buttons
Once you feel certain that the above is done properly plug it into the wall to charge and leave it.
I think i left mine over night but i think its best you just leave it in a dark area with the screen facing up to charge so you will know when it turns on.
I advise even if it doesn't turn on in a time you see appropriate message me here and I will see if i come up with anything else

I got stuck at the boot screen with no OS installed.
Google is finding me ways to reboot but can't find anything on how to do a hard shutdown from here.
EDIT:
Okay one suggestion was to plug the phone into charge, then force a reboot (power + both volume buttons held down 10+ seconds).
Then when it shuts off, you disconnect the power cable after seeing a "battery" on the screen and the tab will remain turned off.
That did not work for me with computer data charging cable.
But it did work with the stock charger. :good:
This helped me get into download using the download mode button shortcuts. But I can't figure out how to get into recovery mode from here? The recovery mode buttons don't work (volume up + power + home).
It looks like this thread has the answer on how to get into recovery mode again.
Too bad I didn't find it before I did an ODIN back to stock.

Actually its even easier than that and have done it countless times.
Next time just hold POWER +VOL DOWN + HOME. As soon as the screen goes blank change to VOL UP whilst still holding POWER +HOME.
Works every time to get into recovery.

I'm in the same situation where all of a sudden my tablet went into reboot and got stuck on the logo screen. I tried the combinations suggested such as : Power butto +Volume down then Volume up when screen is black to get to reboot mode but it just brings me back to the logo screen. Is there some other way I can access the safe mode or recovery mode to try and get this thing working again? I wasn't running any apps for it to cause this either, just checking email. Any help would be much appreciated

You're not following the instructions properly. Read post 3 again and hold ALL 3 buttons until recovery boots.
Do not let go of any of the buttons until you see the recovery screen.

Well, downloading is not the recovery.
In download mode you would use ODIN to re-flash the firmware from a computer.
In recovery, you would do a factory reset to reset back to defaults to see if that helps boot back into the existing firmware. You'll probably lose everything.

Yeah I just figured out I was in the wrong mode. I couldn't get it to the recovery mode for some reason but eventually it worked. So I have to go into wipe data/factory reset option? There's nothing else I can do on that screen to fix this without losing everything? I see other opions to Wipe Cache, reboot to bootloader, reboot system now etc..

Well, you're not really giving enough info for us to properly help you.
If you have stock recovery then you can try clearing cache but it probably won't fix a no-boot situation.
If you have TWRP recovery then you can try clearing cache and dalvik and fix permissions which probably won't help but gives you a better chance.
Also, if you had TWRP then you could simply re-flash your ROM zip and not lose a whole lot.

Sorry about that. It's like I said, I'm not too inclined on this type of stuff. Here's what I got and hopefully it helps you more. The tab is completely stocked, never rooted because I wouldn't even know how to do that really. I was on it fine last night and all I did was put it down for literally 30 sec to get something to drink and when I came back it was stuck on the Samsung logo screen. Only apps I had open was gmail, chrome and a word document. There was nothing dowloading, system wise or apps. It's already had Lollipop on it for a week or two and I didn't get any update notices or anything. So I'm guessing the problem is it's somehow stuck in a "boot loop" from what I found searching on google and I don't understand why or what could be causing it so that's the issue I'm trying to fix. I can't get past that screen no matter how many times I restart it. Does that help some?

Yeah, so unfortunately your options are very limited and you're kinda stuck with losing everything.
Try clearing cache first but I doubt it will help.
Then reset to factory defaults. That should work and you probably lose everything.
If not, then search this forum for "ODIN" and "firmware" or let me know and I'll guide you when I get back to my computer in a couple hours.

The factory reset should not touch the external SD card at all. So no worries about leaving it in during that process.
Yeah, starting over.
As long as you're doing that, this is a great time to flash a rooted ROM so you can install Titanium Backup and do regular backups of your apps in case you ever need to reset to factory again.
What model tab do you have? Like, mine is a T705.
If it's an LTE tab, who is your carrier?
The ODIN process depends on this info.

Who knows, something is not happy though.
You could try another reset.
Is your battery greater than 50%?
Under a certain percentage, the battery savings feature could possible do weird things.

Unless it's a hardware issue, then re-flashing the firmware via ODIN could definitely help!
You can ODIN the stock, unrooted firmware or you can ODIN a TWRP recovery and flash any ROM you want for your phone.
Would still need to know the model # I asked for a couple times above.

Okay great, so you can ODIN a TWRP recovery and then flash a nice ROM. Same ROM I use on my phone. It's stock Touch Wiz that has been rooted and some small things have been improved. Very stable. IronROM.
Or you can download the stock firmware from sammobile.com and ODIN back to stock.
I have a Hard bricked Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Sprint sm-n910p all stock carrying the Qualcomm 805 Snapdragon processor. Like a week after it updated OTA to the Lollipop 5.1.1 it just died in my hands one day after i rebooted it because it kept freezing up. It's a relatively new phone, i had it for about 9 months. I can't get it to boot in download mode nor recovery mode. I tried a USB Jig to get it into download mode but it did not help. Odin does not recognize it, my computer only recognizes it as QHSUSB_BULK 9008. I have another Note 4 same model and carrier as mine running the same Lolipop 5.1.1. I swapped the battery and it still did not boot. I was wondering if anyone on here happens to have a debrick image file for this model that they can assist me with. I have researched on here but so far i have only encountered debrick files and debrick methods for most other models except for the sm-n910p model. I have also tried using my other note 4 to create a debrick file but i was unsuccessful with the create debrick program i tried to run on the second note 4. No one seems to be able to JTAG the note 4 well at least not just yet. The second note 4 i have is not rooted nor do i have any custom roms or custom recovery installed on it, i don't really want to void my warranty or have that second phone bricked as well. Is there anyone on here who may have a debrick image for this model or is there a way i can create a working debrick file from my working note 4 so i can write it to an SDcard to revive my dead note 4? Any assistance given would be greatly appreciated!

Not sure what installation screen you're seeing but hopefully it's either booting to system and going through the update prompts or booting to download or recovery modes(?)
Since you're trying to update over the air (OTA), can I properly guess you're not rooted? If you're unsure why it rebooted during the update, ask yourself, did it go back to recovery or did it try to boot as usual?
Without specifics of error, I'm not sure if your phone boots to system OS or not? It's possible the update file was corrupt or rejected for some reason. Reasons that should be included in your request for help.
But there is a simple solution for OTA not cooperating. Rather than trying to remedy that, you could try to update with Smart Switch or KIES or even Odin.
If it's more serious than that, you could include actual screen shots or message(s) you see on phone and PC if using one of the programs above to flash update.
If the phone doesn't boot, you can try this with KIES emergency recovery:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=40966346&postcount=1
If that doesn't work, you'll need to learn Odin. But you need to be able to boot to download mode. You can find what you need to get started with here:

mmc_read error is troubling but I'm not sure if the problem is corrupt download or failure to read properly, TBH. I haven't seen that issue in person and from what you describe, I've never heard of the phone continually try to load the same update? But I'm not thinking it's dead just yet.
What condition is your battery? Over 12 months old? Fully charged or at least 80%? Your battery could be a contributing factor here.
Can you get to recovery by pulling battery, discharging power circuit by holding power button down for a minute, reinstalling battery and holding power + vol-up + home together until it vibrates? Try deleting the cache partitions first and try to reboot. If not try factory reset next and try to reboot.
You'll have to decide if you want to wipe data or not but if you get that far, you may consider just flashing with one of the programs I mentioned earlier.
If you want to skip that, I think you can boot into download manually without it trying to flash that update. If it boots to download mode (hold power + vol-down + home until it boots) and waits for you to install something with prompt to press volume up if proceeding to flash, then Smart Switch, KIES or Odin are alternatives to try. Since you're not rooted, you could try the first two and save Odin for last if you prefer less interaction. I'm not sure but maybe Odin is the only alternative unless the other 2 can recognize phone in those states (recovery or download).
The troubling part is that it could be your internal memory failing (eMMC). If that's the issue, you may not succeed in recovering it but possibly temporarily restoring function. I think it may too early to say component failure. Best to try the least invasive, least risky things to give a fair chance of recovery before everything at it.
Give that a try, deciding what steps are applicable. Ask if you have additional questions. I'll need to know what works, what didn't, and what you tried so taking notes is best.
Edit: If you do decide to go with Odin, make sure your PC's task manager doesn't show any open sessions of KIES or Smart Switch, install the Samsung driver from Samsung support for Note 4 and unless you have Windows 10, launch Odin as administrator only.

I'd advise replacing that battery before trying to recover the phone.
If you were having to pull battery to get to recovery before, I would not have attempted to update with an old and defective battery. It seems that is a symptom of either bad battery or failing eMMC.
I can't say if your eMMC is defective or even if the battery could have contributed to its potential demise.
Hopefully with a new battery fully charged, it flashes and doesn't exhibit such behavior again. Do you have the original USB cable fully functional? If not, consider original replacement for it as well while you're finding replacement battery. As for battery, I'm not sure of a good replacement but others here recommend original or Anker. I wish you success.
I'm interested to hear of your outcome so hopefully the OP doesn't mind the updates; the original failure posted isn't quite the same as yours.

If you're not rooted, you may be able to recover it with KIES or Smart Switch on your PC. Google these if you need them. These offer more automation and convenience than Odin but these also may only work on a phone that's not rooted or modified.
Otherwise, close those sessions on PC's task manager and download Odin and stock tar and flash firmware with that. You would also need to install the USB driver for your phone. You can find stock tar and Odin in a thread in this forum's general thread. Samsung USB driver can be found on Samsung support for Note 4.
Have you had failure to boot that booted into download and mentioned abnormal boot with eMMC read or write failure? Hopefully not; you just need to flash with one of those utilities.
eMMC failures are too often inevitable hardware failure but some manage to continue unlocking phone without having to pull battery using a wake lock app from Google Play. Any reboot, forced or not may duplicate the issue so they avoid reboots to avoid the frustration of trying to boot without flashing again. Ultimately, a reboot or flash could possibly end the life of a failing eMMC. Some have come back days or hours after removing battery. With a sufficient charge, phone may boot again after being in the battery removed state for long periods.
As far as I know, there's only theories about why eMMC fails. I've often thought heat and having shutdowns with old defective battery may speed the failure before it's life expectancy. Others believe that flashing a lot will reach an early demise but I've also read posts of phones never rooted to fail eMMC; these phones may not have been flashed so much.

I would say yes to KIES unless you're comfortable with Odin. There's an emergency recovery mode in KIES that may just be as close to plug and play you could hope for. You still have to find it in the UI. It's been a while but I thought it was on a middle tab, middle of screen when launching KIES.
KIES may offer a prompt to recover and will download the firmware automatically. Just read and verify the prompt to ensure it properly recognized your phone model and suggested firmware.
Or do it manually and less convenient with Odin.

I am still facing the issue and the issue is even greater as i am not able to go to download mode. The phone i guess goes into deep sleep mode whenever i try to restart it. I want to flash new firmware using odin as i think as per as some thread here .IS there any way i can go to download mode now ? i think it took place due to inturupted software update .
It used to show eMMC failed. But sometimes the phone boots normally

The only suggestion I can give is pulling the battery for longer periods may temporarily help to get to download mode or boot. Some suggest also discharging the power circuit with battery pulled (hold power button) may decrease these extended battery pulls but I don't know if that helps.
The eMMC needs replacing. Samsung Support can do this fairly economically but there's about a week turnaround.
Battery pull and wake lock app is just a bandaid. Flashing firmware is likely the same.
Wish there were better solutions but I think replacement or repair is your best option.

TWRP for U Play
WARNING: SOME USERS ARE EXPERIENCING BOOTLOOP AFTER OTA UPDATING WITH TWRP.
DO NOT FLASH THIS RECOVERY INSTEAD USE FOR TEMPORARY BOOT IF YOU WANT OTA UPDATE
For direct booting without installation use
"fastboot boot twrp-3.1.1-0-alpine.img" in the bootloader menu (white screen )
If you want permanent installation follow these steps
NOTE: Please Check the partition table for your model and flash recovery to that block,
using wrong block can brick your device
use this command in terminal emulator or adb to check partition table
Code:
cat proc/emmc
for me its mmcblk0p39
Boot twrp from bootloader
Code:
fastboot boot twrp-3.1.1-0-alpine.img
now that your booted into twrp open adb and use these commands
Push Recovery Image to phone
Code:
adb push twrp-3.1.1-0-alpine.img /data/local/tmp
Set permission for recovery image
Code:
adb shell chmod 777 /data/local/tmp/twrp-3.1.1-0-alpine.img
Backup Current Recovery Image (in case you want to go back or failed)
Code:
adb shell dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p39 of=/sdcard/backup.img
Copy recovery to block
Code:
adb shell dd if=/data/local/tmp/twrp-3.1.1-0-alpine.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p39

Thanks for that, how do you recover after OTA crashes the system? I wish I'd known, I'm trying to see if I leave it off for about 72 hours if it will switch back on as advised in another forum. How do you get S-OFF on HTC U Play? I've only managed to unlock bootloader

I've tried all of that I'm afraid as soon as it gets a bit of power the cycle happens and the PC doesn't have time to recognize the device before it reboots, it doesn't respond to the power key or any combination of key pressing, just keeps on in the boot loop. From what I've learned I'm assuming the problem is that 52MB TWRP image, it doesn't work on this phone, the update will be trying to boot the phone into recovery but because the recovery doesn't work it creates a bootloop..so far it's been 48hrs, will try switch it back on on monday as suggested here https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...g-failures-t3596427/post74189767#post74189767 . Hi, did you have any luck? I'm stuck in the same boot loop.. I even took off the case and removed the black battery cable over night but still same boot loop, did running down battery help?
Hi, don't dismantle it or any of that other stuff suggested above, let it bootloop til the battery is flat, leave it, do not charge it or do anything to it for 11+ days, then charge it and it will switch back on, no problem, you'll have your phone back.
Ok thanks, it's been about 5 days off so far from dying from the boot loop, I'll give it another 10 days before charging it and see how it goes..
Thanks again for your response..
