[Q] How do I get Metro PCS Call & Text?.. - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Hi. I know there are a few threads on how to get MMS and Data working on Metro PCS network on your own, but what about getting Call & Text
setup? I had an Evo 3D on Metro PCS and now have a SG2 , but I would like to know how to set it up the SG2 myself to MetroPCS and then I can follow the threads to getting MMS and Data working. Any help will be appreciated.

Only way to set up yourself is if you have a account already. If you do in fact have a account already there's two options there's a program you can buy or you can use a few free programs that takes a few hours to complete depending on your experience on working with flashing and what not then there's the third option go to a metro store and ask if they flash phones but even after having them do it you will have to do data and picture mail yourself if you do choose to go to metro to get flashed before you ask if they flash the first sign that they do they'll have all kinds of phones there selling not just metro phones.

[Q] HTC Evo 4G on Page Plus Cellular

I've been using my rooted HTC Evo 4G on Page Plus Cellular (MVNO using the Verizon Wireless network) on their $29.95 per month Talk n Text 1200 plan (1200 minutes, 3000 SMS/MMS, and 100MB of data transfer) successfully for a couple of months now, and I have run into only two significant issues that maybe someone else has been able to solve or work around.
Although SMS works just fine, MMS does not. I've tried using the stock app, the GO SMS Pro app and Handsent SMS app without success. I've tried an ESN reset with Page Plus which didn't appear to help either.
I am also not getting 3G, just 1X. This one is not quite as important to me as the SMS issue is, since there is only 100MB of data available on the $29.95 plan.
I'm wondering if anyone else who is using an EVO 4G on Page Plus Cellular has found a workaround for the MMS and/or 3G issues? If so, could you reply with the fix, as well as the ROM you have flashed on your phone?
Thanks!
Maybe you could take a look at the different tutorials that have been made for Boost to get 3g and mms working.

OK, after flashing a couple of new roms, it appears my issues are either rom or kernel related.
Under MikG v3.0 Re-Engineered GB Sense 2.1 + 3.0 both 3G and MMS were non-functional.
After downgrading to a non-Gingerbread rom, Myn's WarmTwoPointTwo, 3G worked but I still couldn't get MMS operational.
Next, I tried Myn's newest rom Warm TwoPointThree - Release One. MMS appears to work on this one with Go SMS Pro, but I'm back to 1X data Plus the rom itself is still pretty buggy, although I'm sure the design team will work the issues out eventually.
I'm happy with functional MMS (with 1X data) for the moment, but it would be ideal to have both. I suppose it's just a matter of trying different roms until I find one that works 100%. I haven't yet tried flashing a different kernel to see what effect that would have on 3G or MMS, but that would be my next project.

Sure. Page Plus Cellular is a vendor of pre-paid cellular services that uses Verizon's wireless network. It is similar to Virgin Mobile, TRACfone, Net10, Boost Mobile, Straight Talk and MetroPCS.
Page Plus is notable for having an unofficial open device policy. Most Verizon postpaid phones and Alltel phones can be activated (with limitations). Other CDMA phones can be flashed or reprogrammed to their network including devices from Sprint, US Cellular, etc. Page Plus does have some phones that are disallowed from being activated on their system including Blackberries, prepaid Verizon /Alltel phones and the new Verizon/CDMA iPhone.
Page Plus Coverage Map
No 3-way on Pageplus
i'M USING AN evo 4G on PagePlus also.
Have the Pic text working (You cannot use WIFI for Pic Text)
and am getting 3G.
The only thing I am unable to get working is 3-way call.
If your 3way works on PagePlus, what did you do to make it work?
thank you
EVO
Hi,
I now have EVO 3D with Pageplus 3G data working LOCKED. Figured it out.
Thanks!
my evo says 3G but i'm getting 1xRTT speeds... does anyone have a fix for this...
Some of the ROMs on the Evo 4g are locked at 3g. Just because you're getting the 3g icon doesn't mean you're actually getting 3g! Example? The stock ROM.
Getting 1xRTT seems to be the norm. 3g is attainable, some are saying but they want to charge me to do it! Good luck!
As for the MMS issue. You need the apn settings. Might need to use GO SMS or something. But it is definitely apn settings. Use apn backup/restore from the market and get someone who has an android on Pageplus to backup their settings and give it to you. You restore it to your phone. Or try the apn settings from a Verizon phone... maybe Pageplus and Verizon use the same apn settings.
Good luck.
actually check this thread out it worked for me!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1575749
Though I too couldn't get 3g working cause the internet is so slow... I wonder if they have a tutorial for getting the HA and AAA codes when cloning a phone our getting 3g to work correctly.
If there is one can someone post the link I have looked and no luck

Activate Metropcs data on activated Sprint phone possible?

My Sprint network services suck, and I still have my old metropcs account active.. so I was wondering.. would it be possible to activate metropcs data on my 4g touch activated for sprint?
Anyone? Not trying to steal service as my metropcs account is still active. I can use the modem mac from my old phone if needed,

... but note in that thread says 4G won't work. Might help you though.
I already know I wont get 4G, but working 3G sure would be nice. I want to try and set it up for testing. I am currently using forced roaming with the hacked verizon prl, but if I keep this up I will eventually be kicked from Sprint.
Yes, you can flash metro pcs onto your Sprint ET4G. I have mine flashed. However, I can't get mms to work. So, 3g works, text, talk...no mms. I had someone from Craigslist flashed it for $40...

Hey, I have been at this for some time. I'm very confused about some things. I currently have the Samsung Epic 4g Touch (Galaxy S2). To my knowledge my SPC is now set to 000000, and most the QPST settings (OR CDMA settings if you prefer) are set and correct.
I was wondering if there's anyway you can shoot me a response or PM with how to get everything working. I don't even have data at all. I can't seem to figure it out.
Doesn't Metro use Sprint towers?
If so, I doubt you will notice a difference in speed/signal strength!
I have also unlocked my phone and have set my setitgs correctly via QDMA and as far as I know MetroPCS has stopped updating ESN numbers unless its a Metro phone. any news on this?

[Q] Trying to bring this to Boost Mobile, but no data connection

So my father handed me his Galaxy S3 from Sprint and explained that he wanted it switched over to Boost Mobile because he had been having contract difficulties. Nevertheless, I've sucessfully rooted it and switched over the ROM to the stock Boost ROM and had begun changing over the APN data. I'd found a copy of the Boost APN settings and was able to restore that .xml file to the phone to get standard phone calls and text messages to work on the phone.
From this point forward is where things get complicated. I can not seem to get data and mms to work and have tried everything to get it to work. I've tried the ##72786# and the only thing it seems to do is reboot the phone and require that I re input the PTN and MSID. The phone itself is running KitKat currently and has the NDC version of the stock Boost ROM. Any insight as to how I can get this phone ready to go with at least 3G? (LTE's not really a thing here) Thansk!

PS The network name is called Samsung for what it's worth. Not sure if that has to do with anything.

You can't simply change it over to Boost by putting a boost rom on it. You have to call Boost and get them to switch the phone over. You don't have data because your phone isn't on a phone plan . Call boost and get the phone activated and you'll be good to go.

I'm so sorry but I may have under-explained this situation. I grabbed the ESN and MSID from a donor phone that we had laying around, and wrote them to the S3 using a combination of DFS and CDMA Workshop. The ESN from the donor phone was then registered to Boost Mobile and everything went smoothly until I tried to grab for data. This would be the problem that I'm facing. Calling boost might work, but I'd have to be careful what I say lest they be on to my evil schemes (lol). What I believe it needs is a data profile update, since I'm not too sure I've programmed it in ##DATA# properly. Alas I'm trying to look for a workaround so that I can get into the phones menu and connect to the Boost Mobile Data network, but I'm kinda lost as to direction.

Having trouble with Sprint Note 4 Activated on Boost

So my girlfriend has a Sprint Note 4 she activated on boost. We called customer service, had the phone added, he gave us a ## code to activate and everything seemed to go smooth. Phone rebooted a couple times and then popped on with Boost splash screen and the whole nine, cool we figured all was well.
Issues we started to have are two fold, sometimes she can't send text messages. Phone calls seemed to work fine no issue.
The other issue though thats more concerning is the phone doesn't seem to want to establish a 4g connection, when the phone boots its unable to download a firmware upgrade(which I'm assuming is from boost?) and we get the message "unable to establish reliable data connection" but 3g does seem to work. Because of this it was unable to "update the boost server(or profile)"(I believe thats what the message said)
I'm a VZW retail salesman and this issue reminds me of a sim issue I've seen a couple times, but all we did was pop the sim from her old LG Stylo into the note, anyone have any ideas?
I'm wondering if it's an APN issue, but this sprint note 4 on Marshmallow doesn't seem to allow access to edit the apn.
Note 4 on Boost Mobile
Hi!
I just did this. I switched from VZW to boost a month ago and since no boost phones are beefy enough for my regular usage on mobile devices I got a used note 4 and went to the local boost store to swap it over, I called and tried to do myself calling CS on the phone or website and failed. Paid the $10 and everything is working fine. I think since you got the new boost mobile boot animation you should be fine.
When at the store the lady told me the phone NEEDS the SPRINT sim card and maybe part of the reason I was having trouble was due to me trying to use my original boost mobile SIM card.
I am sure your aware but this is the disclaimer from the boost mobile site at https://www.boostmobile.com/#!/support/faq/phones-devices/activate-a-sprint-phone/ ....
"Voice, basic text, and web will be available on eligible Sprint phones.
Due to technical differences between the Boost Mobile and Sprint MMS platform, we CANNOT guarantee that MMS (aka picture messaging) will be available on these phones. In addition, we do NOT guarantee that all Sprint specific or other preinstalled applications may be available or functional (e.g., Sprint TV, Nascar, Sprint Football Live, Sprint Navigator, Mobile Wallet, Wireless Backup).
NOTE: If your Sprint phone asks you to check for Wireless Back up Availability, select No.
Instant Messaging and Mobile Email services will vary by device. For email access, customers can enter their email client's URL into the web browser.
"
You said sometimes you can't sent/get text messages(which implies SMS), did you mean MMS(picture, video, messages with subject lines, group messages, texts longer than 160 characters, etc) ? No SMS would be activation issues, no MMS sounds like APN issue.
I'm no SIM expert, but my understanding is, for CDMA/LTE anyway, that APN settings are applied to the device from the SIM card. I assumed the SPRINT device on Boost would just use all boost apns like my boost device did. However when I compare my boost mobile device APNs and my Sprint device (on boost) APNs they are slightly different.
Maybe try using the original SIM that came with the Note ?
My APN on my Sprint Note 4 flashed to Boost Mobile are;
Bah... I can't copy paste, how about I take some screenshots and also attach my APNs config XML ?
To edit APNs, from the dial pad enter ##3282# , you will need the MSL code.
Hope you get it working.
Anyone with insight for using Sprint stuff on Boost your additional insight would be appreciated.

Oh, you can also try this as well,
"Refresh Customization"

I did mess around with some stuff trying to get roaming to work and this app automated the programming and activation processes to bring me back to original (boost mobile) settings.

MMS requires data on to send/recieve?

So, I'm coming from a S7 edge, and I'm on xfinity mobile. When I'd send an mms or my wife sends me one, it would auto download with data off. But since using the note10+ I sent my wife a pic and its requiring I put data on to send it. Asked her to send me one and I need to put data on to download it.
Is there something in settings to look into?
The s7edge was a tmobile branded phone, that was flashed using the verizon firmware, (for some reason xfinity firmware didnt connect at all, which is odd but anyways)
It's not a big deal, but I'm wondering why it's an issue now.
Thanks guys!
I am on Xfinity Mobile as well. If you go look at their own forums, many others with many types of phones have this issue. The support agents over there either say that is how its supposed to work or do not know what the issue is.
MMS is based on the 3G infrastructure that was the addition of an additional data layer, so I would assume it has always required data as it has always required a minimum 3G connection.
yes you need data for mms, not sms but yes for mms
